Nice folks offering Spanish/Portuguese tapas and a great selection of drinks, we liked the offerings but they seemed over-spiced and unduly-complicated. My friend and I had a girls night here and it was above what I anticipated!! I recommend a reservation forsure. It's a cute cozy smaller space, they have like 6 tables downstairs and then an upstairs as well as man outside patio. We had a table inside on the bottom level. The vibe was great, felt very European. I wish I got our servers name, he was so great!! We ended up staying 3 hours and there was never the sense of him trying to get us to go. Stopped in for dinner on Saturday night. Friendly host seated me promptly outside. It was 44 degrees, but great heat lamps allowed me to dine and people watch without a jacket. Restaurants are struggling. And I try my best to support small businesses to keep them running. Having said all that, I gave Ultreia a five star rating but it's not for their food. Their food looked and tasted like they were taken out of frozen packaged hors d'oeuvres, microwaved, drizzled with some sour mushy sauce then divided into tiny plates and served. Low quality cheap food coupled with dirty wine glasses. BUT I gave this place a five star rating because of Domenic. He was polite, courteous, respectful, considerate and a true gentleman doing everything he could to give his customers a wonderful dining experience even though they were short staffed and he was running around being a one man show under so much pressure. Located in a corner of the historic building, the inside seating is two floors + bar seating, but there are multiple tables outside. Inside seemed a little dark, but when I asked for a seat, I was immediately led outside. I was slightly annoyed that I wasn't asked if I had a preference, but I assumed I wasn't given a choice because inside was booked (even though it looked 60% empty). After arriving outside, I was less annoyed, because this is Denver... and the weather was fantastic for outdoor seating. I ended up on this comfy couch under an awning and got to enjoy the nice weather. Service was attentive and knowledgeable and my water was always topped off. So why a 4? I wanted to try some things on the HH menu, so when I asked the hostess about it, I was informed that HH had 5 min left. In other words, sorry they weren't going to accommodate. If the items I wanted to try were on the regular menu, then ok no big deal. But they weren't. And it's not like the kitchen was closing. So I give the hostess a 2-3, actual waiters a 5. I ended up getting the croquetas jamon (3/5) and moorish spiced ribs (5/5). The croquetas were ok - I didn't think they were as good as described. My first bite had barely any ham. I felt like I was eating fried mush. The outside is coated with some sort of flavor that tasted like hot cheetohs to me. I ate them all, as really nothing wrong with them. But not something I'd order again. The ribs were indeed fall off the bone with just enough chew. It was juicy and tender - really fantastic and lived up to the hype. I'm not the biggest fan of the rub, but it was good. Just personal preference. This is worth ordering. However, if you're dining solo, may want to consider skipping an app because it was ~6 hearty ribs. Maybe next time I can catch this HH. Not the priciest place, as it ran $40 pre-tip. This is a very short review as we just stopped in this Denver Union Station place for a drink and an app. Although short, I can not emphasize enough, the wow on what we had and the service. Sat at the bar, which is entertainment in itself. The outstanding bar staff were mixologists extraordinaire, fun and very friendly and informative. The Martinis's (slightly dirty; Gin of your choice and boy do they have choices) were t-riff. There is no shortage of brands to choose from, from their extensive wall of liquor! The App we dove into was one of the best Chicken LIver Mousse dishes we've ever enjoyed. Kicked off a weekend business trip in Denver with a meal inside this Union Station eatery. We managed to get a table outside where we were able to enjoy the nice weather. We opted for the Chef's Feast and it was not only an amazing culinary experience, but it was an absolute steal at $83.25 for two. Where I'm from I expected that to be the cost per person. I highly recommend going for the Feast and you'll have a chance to try a wide variety of dishes and you will not leave hungry. My favorite? The Moorish Spiced Ribs. I had a quick layover in Denver and took the A line straight to Union Station for lunch here. My friend made reservations, but it wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. The space is nicely decorated, especially during the holidays. We sat inside since it was a bit chilly outside. Our waiter recommended the Huevos Bravas ($12) and Piri Piri Breakfast Sandwich ($14). Also, added two Pastel de Nata ($2 each) even though it wasn't on the menu, but I had seen photos of it from other Yelpers. Luckily, they had it! The food came out shortly and it was surprised how yummy they all were. The hashbrown in the breakfast sandwich was so incredibly crispy, which really made the entire sandwich. But the huevos bravas was even more delicious with the kick of spicy tomato sauce (it almost reminded me of a kimchi flavor). Ultreia was my first stop on a food tour across Denver and ended up being one of the best restaurants! There were a couple ways to get into the restaurant including from inside Union Station as well as the outside patio area. Once you come in, you're greeted by a fairly tall bar with some gorgeous artwork and a smaller interior of two floors. I made a reservation pretty easily online on my way to Denver from the airport and sat at the bar. The menu was a good assortment of Spanish tapas / entree items. Here's what I tried: *Bacon wrapped dates: Gosh, one of my favorite items ever are bacon wrapped dates. And the way it comes out here is so lovely. The bacon is just right - not overly salty. And the date wasn't super huge. One order came with a skewer of 3 pieces. *Pan con tomate with jamon serrano: The winner here more than anything is the bread. Why is the bread so light and perfectly buttery? It goes well with the rest of the meal here where the tomate is not bad and the jamon is also okay. *Patatas Bravas: The bartender, Paige, mentioned this wold be more than enough food and could totally see why. The patatas bravas is heavy but beautiful to look at. The egg on top was terrific as the yolk oozed all over. Loved the aioli and the spicy tomato sauce. Super solid and more than enough food. *Drinks were mainly gin-focused although they had other cocktails / drinks available along with a lot of wine. I got the Dreams of You which was not too overly sweet and lavender forward. Super delicious and (luckily) got an extra one as well. I mean...WOW! We went there for Denver Restaurant Week expecting a paired down menu with not all the options. I was wrong to assume. They had every single item from their menu on their restaurant week one and it was all so delicious! I had the croquetas de jamón, the patatas bravas, and the pork belly entree, and the pastel de nata. I wish words could describe how good everything was. I did not have a bad bite in any of my choices. I also tried what my friends ordered and the octopus, the garlic soup, the chicken liver dish, the mackerel in a tin, it was all 10/10. Now for the ambiance, it was fun, lively, casual and not stuffy. The service was FANTASTIC... Ashlee did an amazing job at making suggestions, didn't rushed us and she gave me the best gin suggestions. I was going to start with something basic and she was knowledgeable about gin and I ended up trying new gins that I loved. She also suggested a great digestif what was so good (can't remember the name but it was a cherry liquor). Anyways, Ashlee is amazing! The only negative was the blueberry tres leches which I did not enjoy. It was a bit too cold to eat outside on the patio, but enjoyed dining on the second floor overlooking the main dining room. Service was friendly, efficient and properly coursed for tapas. I can't resist croquettes on a tapas menu, and these were quite delicious. Bacon wrapped dates were also a hit. While not bad, I don't think I would order the Pan con Tomate again, a few thick pieces of bread that was toasted, and it just didn't do it for me. We had the pan con tomate with iberico (the hubs ate the iberico) to share. The bread was so good and the tomate was packed with tomato and olive oil flavor. A really solid start to our meal. For our main, we had the potatas bravas. This was one of the better versions I've ever had. With just the right amount of heat, crispy tomatoes and aioli to cool the heat, two flash fried eggs on top rounded out this dish and hit all the perfect food notes. We started with an Earl Grey tea and a Paleta before moving on to bacon wrapped dates, patatas bravas with octopus, glazed moorish spiced ribs, and the October special. The bartender who brought the Paleta over was very happy to explain the available Basque ciders and other drinks. Sharon ended up ordering the N/A with a spiritless whiskey. Ultreia came highly recommended, but my experience did not live up to the hype. The restaurant is in the beautiful Union Station and the decor is alluring with large murals and a cozy bar. My trout was seasoned well. The asparagus and broccoli side dish was disappointingly heavy. Most disappointing were the "junk fees" attached to the check including a "minimum wage fee" or so I was told after the fact. She also owns Stioc & Genuine inside Union Station, as well as a few other restaurants around town. Restaurant is inspired by Spanish tapas. The husband and I love to eat our way through Spain, so Ultreia is a nice slice of that in Denver. I don't think we've ever had the full dine-in experience here. Fun, delicious, fresh and excellent service We spotted this place upon walking through the train station after arriving from the airport. We got a Saturday night reservation during our girls weekend. As my pal us a vegetarian, we only had one dish with meat: the yummy bites of bacon wrapped dates were all mine. Nice combo of salty, sweet and savory. The dates were a little mushier than others I've had other spots. The grilled stone fruit salad had the perfectly ripe and textured fruits with tiny dollops of some kind of cream and a spritz of tang. The Setas (mushrooms) were light and seasoned just a smudge, letting the true flavors of the mushrooms come through. For the cheese plate, we had a variety of manchego, a cheese that tasted like gouda and one that was a more solid but just as creamy goat cheese. The patatas bravas was OK. Nothing special.
