Hardly feel compelled to write such a glaring review a few hours after having just dined there but man that was really good. It was impeccable to be honest. Started with the caviar bumps. Quality stuff, reasonably priced. Then some bread and butter. Also just great texture and flavor, even it being a little bit burnt added to it in a positive way. Then got pate with some other bread which was our favorite bread of the night. The pate was so good and the sweet notes really just complimented the texture and flavor. Was even better than most true foie gras I've had at other locations tatare was fresh and not overly added to with a bunch of mayo or oil, still had plenty of acid and the shaved horseradish was an excellent touch. Would have added some capers myself but hey just splitting hairs now. Duck confit was executed perfectly, Crispy exterior but still fall off the bone and then they did this chili crisp sauce that made it work like an asian twist on a l'orange sauce youd typically get with the duck. Then there was some off menu sausage they made with a veal reduction. Whaever wine they recommended too worked across the board. Staff and chef were amazing and even gave us some other Denver recs which checked out as well. We came for Sunday brunch at 10:30am. There were just a few tables seated. Cute quaint place. Parking was easy to find on the street. Love the deep blue exterior color. Food was delicious. French omelette was rich, cooked to perfection. Salad was fresh and we appreciated the light dressing. Pate was a touch sweet which I really liked. It was very yummy with the buttered toast. The ricotta doughnuts came out very warm and were moist and delightful. You really couldn't even tell there was ricotta. Beautiful restaurant with great food and lovely service. We had brunch on a Sunday and really enjoyed the pate, Benedict and ricotta donuts. Great flavors and particularly enjoyed bouncing between sweet and savory between the donuts and the pate. I asked for the poached egg to be cooked over medium so I had runny yellow but solid white and they cooked the eggs perfectly. My son gave me a hard time for being so specific when I ordered but he admitted his whites were too runny for him and he wished he requested what I requested. I've been chopping at the bits to try this place as a friend recommended it when she learned French onion soup is my fave. So i finally tried the soup and it was ok. At first they brought out a lukewarm pot then they did correct it and brought back a slightly hotter soup. The employees were nice and ensured I was being taken care of. One of the chefs, i believe his name was josh introduced hisself and was very pleasant as well. The restaurant is small and quaint resembling a French restaurant in Paris. I've put off visiting this restaurant for YEARS! Not for any particular reason - it just never happened. My best friend and I came here to satisfy our steak craving. Funny enough, my favorite things to eat here have been the non-meat dishes. Then again, I haven't tried their famous burger quite yet. All their greens and small plates are phenomenal. These chefs really know how to make a salad. On a separate trip, I had their Cavatelli dish, which is one of my favorites. I was recently back at Brasserie Brixton for the first time in a couple of years, and the experience reminded me that I need to be a more frequent customer. We were in with a large group of people, so we had preselected our food choices. Highlights abounded, but on the appetizer front, none more than the SteelHead crudo. On the entree front, the Beef Bourguignon was a departure from the heavy classic version that might raise an eyebrow with some purists, but the flavors were all there, and it didn't leave me wanting for a nap. Steak Frites were perfect. If I had to question a dish, it was the Bass Meunière. I assume this was a cost-related choice? The dish was great, but I have a bit of a block with bass vs classic sole. Charming French hole in the wall, with limited seating. Get here when it opens if you don't have a reservation, we barely got sat at the bar! The service is truly fantastic, quick with the drinks and water refills, the food does take some time though. Very fun selection for happy hour food, the mussels and fries were a crowd favorite it seemed. We tried the steak frites and it was good not great. Noise level was pretty high so it was a bit challenging to hear to have conversations. We were seated in a large community table where tables were small table set right next to each other with no space but a plant pot as on a side as divider. If you are an introvert, recommend requesting a private table in advance. We tried tartar, oysters, French onion soup, and steak and frites. All the dishes we ordered were very delicious. The tartar had beets and horse radish and different from traditional tartar but very delicious. French onion soup was the best in CO I ever had. Recently came here for a friends birthday. We were a pretty large group and the staff were very attentive and food was served in a prompt manner. I absolutely loved the entrees especially the duck (the chili crisp was amazing) and the black cod on a bed of perfectly seasoned and garnished peas . You also can't go wrong with their baked Camembert or french onion soup. We paid $75 each for a family style meal and were told that the meal would come with assorted pastries for dessert but we never received these and when we asked one of the servers, he wasn't aware of any dessert. Ultimately it was decided we would get a partial refund but I know I never received one (I can't speak to other people in the group and I know the bill was complicated) I would definitely come back to eat here in a small group but the fact that they didn't deliver what was agreed upon would make me hesitant to have a large gathering here like this read more

OK, everyone take a deep breath. Everything was served cold. The depth of flavor in the French onion soup was amazing but it was literally ice cold under the cheese. I couldn't finish it. We even spoke to the table beside us who experienced the same tepid soup. If I'm eating French onion soup I expect to lose a few taste buds to the heat. The steak and frites came...cold. Wow - this might be one of my new favorite places in Denver. 1) The chill ambience in here is tough to beat. There's a great bar, with a good amount of seating / corner section, and the setup allows you to peak into the kitchen. Love it. 2) The staff is so attentive and great at making suggestions. I asked for a candle in the cheesecake and the waitress said ok, but still no candle. The cheesecake was pretty rich and texture was decent overall. Not too sweet and I liked the honey sauce. With dessert we got the cognac and the 20 year aged wine. The cognac was super strong and the aged wine was good, not too strong but tasted a bit like cough syrup to me. Definitely have had better aged wines before but it went well with the desserts. Then they brought out another pot de crème with a candle. That was great and I'm glad we got the candle. But then we had to eat three desserts. The food we ordered was a good sharing size for two who were really hungry after a day of activities. The third dessert made us stuffed. Overall service was good. We were seated immediately. It took some time for ordering and then getting our drinks. The food came out at a good pace. And then there was the candle debacle but we got it eventually. Overall loved the location of the restaurant and decent free parking around. My husband and I wanted to try out this restaurant for our second anniversary. Walking in, the ambiance was lovely - the lighting was warm and the decor was fresh and cozy. Sitting down, we met our waitress, who was nice, but a bit stand-offish. The seats were a bit on the smaller side and close to other tables, so if you're worried about others hearing your conversation, you may want to ask for a table with some more space. However, it wasn't an issue for us. We started our meal with their baguette and salted butter - yummy, but our waitress implied that it came with the meal, and wasn't a separate $12 charge. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely delicious! But we felt a bit mislead. For an additional appetizer, we ordered the french onion soup, as I've somehow never tried it before. It was amazing! While I don't have much to compare it to, I was thoroughly impressed and would order again. I ordered a gin-heavy cocktail, which I would recommend. I ordered steak and fries, while my husband ordered the duck. Both were perfect, and blew our expectations away. My steak was cooked just how I asked, and there was plenty of it, covered in a yummy flaky salt. The fries and side salad were also big portions and tasted great. My husband's duck included an egg (also cooked perfectly!) and some delicious oily sauce on the plate. We were absolutely in love with our entrees, and felt that they were priced super fairly. The issue came about when we paid. We paid our bill and tipped, and all seemed well. However, when my husband got his statement back, there was an extra charge on the tip that was higher than he had paid. He wrote the tip down very clearly, so it felt like our waiter was trying to pull one on us. Thankfully, we got in contact with the manager, who venmoed my husband the difference and apologized for what had happened. Due to the additional charge on the tip and the weird bread situation, I can't give this place 5 stars. I was between 3 or 4, but thankfully the owner was understanding. However, the food and drinks that we had were delicious, and we would go here again to enjoy their great food and ambiance, giving the service another chance. French onion soup was one of the best I had in Denver without a doubt. Duck was also very very well prepared. If you go and get these two items you will definitely enjoy your experience. The burger was very average and did not leave any lasting impression for me. Same with other food other guests at our table ordered. The drinks seemed a bit over priced, with wine bottle price to quality seeming a bit of a reach for me. With that the service felt just okay, again, for how much money we were spending. I wasn't a huge fan of the burger or had way too high hopes since I saw it was the best burger in Denver on reddit. It was solid but I wouldn't personally do gruyere as the cheese. Bryan was a stand out. From the moment I walked in, he was incredibly attentive. Although I am usually low maintenance when I come into a bar with a book, he checked in on me frequently. Big yikes, how did such a highly rated restaurant get it so wrong? Perhaps it's just different taste buds? Who knows, but I'm going to be honest with this review. I came here in the summer, so this is a bit of a delayed review, but my friends and I were in town for a big show and we wanted to eat somewhere nicer with good reviews. This place popped up and looked very promising. The decor is modern and homey. We started with some appetizers, including french fries, tartare, and the pate. Fairly standard fare, but a huge easy miss on all the appetizers. First, the fries were insanely salty to the point where we actually sent it back. I like salty food, heck, I've even swallowed sea water on accident when scuba diving. This was inedible. I felt bad sending it back, and there was some snark that came back at us when the new fries came back, "here are your LOW SODIUM fries". They were still super salty but not inedible this time. During this time, my friend who ordered the burger waved down the server to ask for no salt on her side of fries because even this "low sodium" fries was pretty salty. The pate itself wasn't terrible, but the pickled mustard was overly sweet... like it tasted like it had a TON of added sugar. I like mustard, but this was such an unnecessary addition. The salmon tartare also was alright, but there was a layer of candied (meyer?) lemon gel that was overly sweet and offputting. This dish could have worked without it. Finally, for the 3 main dishes, we got the steak, the burger (with unsalted fries), and the bouillabaisse. - The steak was tough and chewy despite being medium rare (and it seemed to be cooked properly too, but perhaps it wasn't cut against the grain. The fries with this were not adjusted for salt so these were too salty. - The burger had an under seasonsed patty (huge surprise), but the unsalted fries were actually perfectly salty (they were salted just right, like mcdonalds fries) - The bouillabaisse was recommended by the waitress and I decided to go for it. The scallops were way over cooked to death and rubbery. The mussels were fishy and didn't taste fresh at all, and the sea bass was also quite over cooked. Now let's talk about the cocktails. I love a good well balanced cocktail, and between everyone in our party, we tried all the listed cocktails on the menu. Every drink was overly sweet with too much simple syrup. I know I complained a lot, and usually if I don't think something is done properly, I still eat it / consume it. This was the first time we left most of the food on the table. This is not a place I'd recommend or come back to, and to be honest, I'm quite surprised nobody else has complained about the taste. Either way, I really hope they improve their food, but it seems like the locals enjoy it so maybe don't change what isn't broken? read more

This place was great! I don't find myself hanging out in this area very often, but it was a nice change of scenery. Tables are pretty close to other folx, so if you aren't comfortable with that, maybe ask to be sat elsewhere like the bar? In addition to this, it was awkward watching people trying to squeeze in and out between separate tables. Butts in my face isn't exactly ideal for dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. Service wasn't overbearing and pretty attentive to our needs. Food wise- I got the steak frites and my date got the duck. Both so good and came out in a reasonable time! Only downside was my drink. I got the Pink Drink, which mostly just tasted of Gin. Which I didn't hate, it was just SUPER strong, haha. I love duck confit and was a bit skeptical about the menu description. But the reviews about this dish changed my mind. And am I glad I ordered the duck! It was a surprising fusion of duck confit and Asian flavors with the chili crisp oil. Such a lovely combination. I am generally used to a less dense radish cake, however, as the Chinese radish cake is not so dense. I also had the frisée salad which was a different salad that what was described on the menu (a typo apparently) and a lovely "A Fine Line" cocktail made with vodka, cantaloupe, plum, cappelletti, lemon and vanilla -- it was so delicious that I had 2! Crazy to call yourself a French restaurant and serve red wine in tiny dessert wine glasses... Moules frites were really off. Mushy, old, discolored, inedible mussels. We sent them back and the table next to us leaned over and said they wished they had returned them to the kitchen as well. The restaurant desperately needs sound dampening on the walls/ in the rafters because it is 'can't hear yourself think' loud when busy. Upon being seated, we were asked to place our entire order for the evening which of not something I'm used to. This also means you cannot order appetizers until the whole party is present and has agreed, which at first was a bit confusing but I think because it's very different than e are used to. What this does, however, odd allow the chef to ensure an immaculate dining experience, which between this and the fabulously crafted cocktails, it was incredible!! Food wise, for a place that calls itself a brasserie in one of the less up and coming neighborhoods of Denver, the entire menu other than drinks is about 25% more than it should be. $42 for an average cut of steak and $38 for essentially 3oz of duck thigh, not to mention $12 for bread (!!) and $20 for a 4oz ball of burrata ... eh. The burrata was indeed very tasty with crispy spring vegetables and a citrus gremolata. Should it have come w bread or crackers? Yes. The steak frites was cooked fine but came out cold. It's possible the kitchen was waiting for the duck plate to be done but that the sauce and fries were colder than room temp is ... less than ideal. As well, the steak had some silver skin that made the eating experience a little less enjoyable. All the same, it was a good portion and they're not stingy on the fries - they just needed to be hot. And the duck ... please see photo of the amount of oil. Yes, all of that orange is Oil. Of course Confited duck thighs will be fatty but this was another level. And the piece was Soo small. The turnip cake it was served with was tasty but the ginger was so overpowering that you couldn't taste anything else. The service was fine but one thing I wasn't thrilled with is that the table wasn't wiped down. The bread was very crusty (and the plate, very small) and left a storm of crumbs on the table. The server collected all the silverware and then put new silverware down on a pile of crumbs... The space is really inviting and the drinks are pretty good. I'm not sure if we'll be back though. For $215 w tip, there is better French food to be found. read more
