    Large Tonkatsu Curry ($11.95)
    Giao O.

Wasabi Shoyu Ramen is an interesting take on the shoyu broth! With a light hint of wasabi in the broth, I'm surprised to taste and like it so much that this broth will definitely become my go-to every time I'm here. Large curry rice is definitely worth a try as well because of their crunchy but airy tonkatsu. Those pieces go really well with curry sauce and white rice, which makes it a really filling dish.

Gyoza that's falling apart and stuck together. They actually served this. Amateurs.

Update number three? I've been coming here since they opened. It's been up and down but they are back!!! Food is constantly been very good. Gyoza is still not so much. But service here is now phenomenal! Top notch service quick and professional. New team the last two or three years have really changed this place. Great job. Cant go wrong with any of the ramen but get the spicy in any of them. Level one really changes it up.

I invited one of my best friends to eat at umiado and he loved it so much. The food was on point absolutely delish. The service was very quick and on point as well.. My best friend said the ramen took him back when he visited Japan last year which I think is a very high compliment.. He absolutely loved the food and so did I.. I enjoyed it a lot. Thr ambiance was very cool we both loved the way the restaurant was set up.. I will definitely be back.

This was a small but nice and clean spot. Our server Ant was great and very helpful explaing everything to us. The food was great. I got the curry Ramen and it had a nice amount of spice for me. They gave me the option of adding more spice but I declined. The tempura brussel sprouts were pretty tasty also. The chicken with my curry was ok with the broth but not as much by itself. The torio shio ramen was pretty delicious aswell. We got it with the kale noodles. The kale flavor in the noodles definitely added depth to this dish. The mango nigori sake was pretty delicious and dangerous. It was almost like drinking a smoothie. Highly recommend this place.

Umaido is a hole in the wall restaurant serving Japanese food including ramen, rice bowls, and curry. The inside has a traditional aesthetic Japanese design, but is a little cramped. It was not that busy when I arrived and the service was very friendly and attentive! We got the Ultra Spicy Ramen and Tonkotsu Ramen. My boyfriend really likes this place, mostly for the Ultra Spicy Ramen. I got my go-to ramen at any Japanese restaurant... the Tonkotsu Ramen! I found the noodles to be a bit stale and the broth to be saltier than I wanted. However, I did enjoy the soft boiled egg (the yolk was runny) and the chashu! Overall, I think Umaido is just alright. I would probably give this restaurant a 3.5/5 stars if I could. I want to come back and try other items on their menu, such as their appetizers which I see people rave about on here.

A small hole-in-the-wall Japanese place with good ramen and okay rice dishes. We waited a bit for a table since the place is small. I ordered the shrimp katsu curry, and it came in decent quantity, but the curry was way too thin. The flavor was good and the shrimp well fried, but the curry fell short. My other friends enjoyed their ramen, though it's the kind with thin noodles.

Ordered the Chaysu Don and the Hirata Bao. Both were delicious. The flavors were bursting with sweet, savory, and creamy from the mayo drizzle. My only con is that they used pork belly instead of a lean pork because the leaner the meat, the less flavorful.

Decent food, vibes, and service when i went last month. Hit or miss on the side dishes; they aren't always available. 7/10

Nice Asian restaurant, Japanese style food, top 5 asian restaurants in Duluth area, nice family ambience, friendly service with young people, good restrooms area, many drink and foor options, we ordered some sushi and ramen plates, amazing flavors, japanese beers are good too. Definitely a must try restaurant.

I haven't been here in a while but this place never disappoint. I ordered spicy ramen level 3 with extra noodles. It was on point but next time I'm going to up the spicy level. There's usually a wait but I picked the right time and was seated right away. The ambiance is right up my alley. Overall, I like this place and will keep it in my restaurant foodie rotation. Cheers!

One of the very first spots my boyfriend took me and quickly became my absolute favorite ramen place. We go with friends all the time. I have tried many places from chain restaurants to hole-in-the-wall spots and nothing tops this place. I'd wait an hour just for this. If we ever can't pick a place to eat and Umaido is recommended it's an easy yes for both of us. Please never change anything about the level one ramen.

I came in here with a friend last Saturday for a hearty lunch. My friend likes this place so I had decent expectations. I love ramen, so a good bowl makes my day. The place does not have a LOT of seating so be prepared to wait a tad bit during busy days. We had to wait for 10 mins and then we had a spot at a communal style table. We were quickly given water and we had to scan the QR code to see the menu. The Spicy Miso interested me and my friend got the Tonkotsu. It took about 15 minutes for the ramen bowls to arrive and it looked DELICIOUS! Honestly, it was good. The egg, the broth, and the whole concoction tasted great. I just feel that it wasn't really spicy. And the oomph or hearty factor was a lil missing. The price point wasn't too bad. The portions were typical too.

Tonkotsu Ramen with extra pork belly and fried onions. Level 2 spice.

My favorite ramen place in the area! Place is small so sometimes there is a wait, but it's worth it!!

Is the phone number currently out of order? I'm trying to place a takeout order

Hi Andrea! Thank you so much for reaching out. Unfortunately due to the storm of last night (12/29/2021) our internet and phone services were damaged. We are currently working on fixing this issue. We are sorry you couldn’t get to us. We hope to see…

I tried to order takeout, but the phone number listed here and on their website does not work. What phone number do they take takeout orders through?

The number I used earlier this week was 678-318-8568

    Any gluten free options?

There are several gluten-free options. Just ask the servers.

Tried to call to order pick up several times, but no one pick up. Do they really take the order by phone?

Hi Amy! Thanks for calling Umaido. Yes we do take orders over the phone, but due to the COVID-19 most of our guest are doing Take out orders as well and our phone line can get pretty backed up. We are sorry about this.

    Do they have vegan options?

Yes they have some vegan dish as well.

Megan wanted a dining room meal not fast foo, so we picked Jinya based on my experience at the Athens location. It was a good choice! There are many restaurants in this plaza, so there is plenty of good parking. We were in after 1pm so the lunch crowd was mostly gone. The restaurant has the somewhat standard contemporary asian restaurant look. We were quickly seated at a window table. The menu is small but has what you want for a ramen restaurant. I ordered the original tonkotsu with crispy chicken topping. Megan ordered the chicken ramen. The order arrived quickly at our table along with some additional sauces. My ramen was outstanding. The pork slices were tender and delicious. I don't know how they flavor that egg but it is good! The broth was tasty but aggressively salted. The chicken topping was just the over the top thing I like. Megan liked her chicken ramen quite a bit, so much so she ate it all, not bring anything home. Yes I would come back next time I am hungry in the area. It was $47 plus tip including soft drinks. Seems to be an extensive bar here too if you are looking for that. Hey if you are across 85 at Costco thinking about lunch, come over here! Even if you don't come to Jinya there are better choices here that you might miss if you stay over there!

The raw onions are a bit much but good. I do like this place but again a bit pricey. For ramen and buns. But something you don't see often, cleaning. Owning a restaurant is 90% cleaning and 10% cooking. I know cuz we used to own a restaurant.

It completely fits with the nostalgia we were feeling and hanging out with each other again. Service was efficient, and we were easily able to converse with each other. The food is pretty heavy what with it being fried and mostly carbs, but the kimchi and pickled radish help cut the greasiness of it. One of the standout things about this place is that they have DonPas. When we first heard of it, we though it would be fun to get. The donkatsu used for it is thin and fried well. The pork wasn't dry at all, and it was able to hold the pasta and its sauce while remaining crunchy though you definitely should eat it before the sauce truly sets in and changes the texture. For the pasta portion, we went with carbonara pasta, and it was good! Creamy and paired pretty well with donkatsu, which normally has a different type of sauce with it. We also got the UFO fried rice to share. It was filling, and I highly recommend it with egg, cheese, and corn over sauce. That being said, not a fan of the lot to get here. It's got a bit of an decline/incline, not the worst I've experienced, but still something that I took note of. At least my car didn't hit the ground with a scratch like another place I've been to. Leaving can be difficult if it's a busy time with lots of cars, but it's not too bad... I just know I'm not the best driver.
