The lunch special right now is amazing! You can choose a ramen and add a small dish for $3. I got Curry Don and Tonkatsu ramen + rich broth and corn. I really liked the pickles that came with the curry and the curry itself was well spiced, the pork was also impressively juicy and tender. The texture of noodles in the ramen was perfect and I definitely recommend adding rich broth to the ramen. It was a cold and rainy day in Atlanta so I decided to warm up with some ramen. I had been hearing great things about Umaido so I decided to give it a shot. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in Suwanee amongst other Asian restaurants and shops. I didn't have to wait long to be seated. I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen which was pretty decent. I ordered a heat level 2 which was spicy but not too bad. Had a slight nose run. I would have liked more veggies in the ramen although I know it didn't come with that but I feel like veggies should be a standard for all ramen. Customer service was good, little slow, but good. Best Raman I've had around! The broth is delish and has so much flavor without the grease! If you order out they are really fast! The service inside was great for just two people running the tables/cleaning and seating. We waited an hour but it was a Thursday night - you can put yourself on the waitlist on yelp ahead of time so I highly recommend that! Small spot, big ramen flavor! This is the perfect restaurant for a winter night ramen fix. There are 8 outer tables and in the middle, one long high top. There's also a lower bar counter closer to the kitchen. Tables fill up quick so highly recommend checking in via their Yelp waiting list before arriving. Super easy to do and will save you from standing there for an hour. We got the yaki gyoza as an app, which was fine. The Tonkotsu ramen was delicious- I could have almost used a bit more broth! One of the best ramen places in the area. I got the Ultra Spicy Level 2 (which is like Shin Ramyun level of spiciness to me), and it came with the most savory pork slices I've ever had and an egg. Not a lot of toppings, but still tasty. The noodles are made in house, and are chewy and uniquely delicious! Add extra noodles for $1.50, and now you've basically got another good bowl of food to eat. Love this place! read more

I have been coming to Umaido for a couple months now so I'm fairly confident in my review. Umaido is a fantastic experience with some of the best food and staff possible. Each server is exceptional and friendly my favorites being the serving staff for Thursday which includes Mindi, Ximema and Alley. All of them are terrific at their jobs and are a great team. They are more than just coworkers as you watch them work, they demonstrate their teamwork and friendship always helping each other out without needing to ask. The food is exceptional for I wouldn't have written this review without it being so. Each bowl of ramen, appetizers, desert or rice dish has been phenomenal. I'm always left feeling satisfied with food and service. Truly an exceptional team. I have and will always recommend Umaido to any and all friends and have on more than one occasion brought groups of them to come and enjoy themselves. Each time I have done so has been met with only positive views of Umaido and staff. Without a doubt my favorite place to eat and only wish I was able to come more often. For ramen I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and it was heaven on earth. The broth was so rich and full of flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. And the PORK, oh the pork was tender and juicy and complemented the broth so well. I've also ordered the seafood ramen here, it was good but not at good as the Tonkotsu ramen. However, some pieces of scallop had rock/shelling(?), which unfortunately took away from the enjoyment of eating it. Umaido makes exceptional ramen. Their Ultra Spicy ramen is in my opinion the best bowl of ramen to be had in Metro Atlanta. I'd disagree vehemently with any ranking that put it lower than top three. Their ramen, however, is not what pushed me to make this review. Everyone already knows their ramen is good - it doesn't need my review. Some restaurants do everything well; some have one specialty that's amazing and everything else is lackluster. Umaido is in the first category (everything is at least good), but they actually have two items that are amazing. One is their spicy ramen, and the second is their karaage. On a good day, their karaage is actually perfect - I cannot imagine better karage than Umaido's karaage at it's best. Tender and flavorful chicken inside a light and unbelievably crispy crust. If you order the seven piece, you also get yuzu salt - a powder salt with a mild yuzu (a type of citrus fruit) flavor. A little bit of that sprinkled over the chicken to taste brings out the flavors even more. You can dunk it in your ramen broth after you finish your noodles and it will still have a good crunch even after a prolonged dunk. If you can handle a bit of spice, and you have an appetite, order the Ultra Spicy ramen. Add rich soup as a topping and get yourself a 3-piece or 7-piece karaage. You'll have an incredible meal. read more

As I entered, I was greeted by the only 2 waitresses working. I was alone so sat at the bar-type seating infront of the cooks. FOOD: As an appetizer, I wanted to try the octopus balls, but they were out of it that day, which sucks. Really? Must be popular or shipment hasn't come. I decided to go with the Chicken Nuggets appetizer. It was just chicken chunks breaded and fried with tempura batter. It came with a dipping salt-type seasoning. It was OKAY. I wouldn't order it again. I ordered the Seafood Ramen Noodle Soup as my entree. It was delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful. Our favorite ramen place around!! We have tried others, but so far, this is the place us. The make the ramen noodles in house. This is a big win. My husband and I loved in Japan and having real Japanese ramen is just amazing and difficult to find. Tonkotsu Ramen is my favorite. My husband loves their soft boiled marinated eggs, and usually gets extra. The service has gotten better, but wasn't always great. I see they're making changes, even adding things to their menu. I was working on a commercial and the crew ate at Umaido and then shot part of the commercial there after. Everyone in the crew raved about how good their food was. The vegetarians were very happy with their choices too. I have a lot of food allergies I had ordered a side of steamed rice and plain tofu with no sauce. They were both good. I would have preferred steamed tofu instead of fried but the fried but fried was fine. The atmosphere is very comfortable, cozy sized restaurant with one large communal dinning table inn the center and 2 or 4 top tables on the sides. We ate at the long communal table and that was nice. The service was very good and accommodating to our 16 person party. When I needed to send something back it was replaced quickly. I'm not sure about pricing because it was a crew launch so the producers bought it. I would definitely come back and there is a Mozart Bakery a few doors down too! They have great baked goods. Finally had the chance to come here for a lunch break and I was happy but confused all at the same time. I never get a chance to come here because of my job and school, so this is actually my first lunch experience here. I sat at the bar because I freaking love watching people cook food, but with all of the bowls covering up the glass, I could not see any of the noodle cooking action! My waitress was consistent when helping me out through my lunch. I ate the spicy miso ramen with an extra topping of kakuni! This spicy noodle was good! I really like how my bowl was presented and how the toppings made my bowl tastier! My favorite part of the dish was actually the hard-boiled egg! After coming here, I make my ramen super hardcore! The toppings choices on the menu are superb! I also like the option of ordering extra noodles for the remaining bowl of ramen soup! I got to try the spicy noodles and they rocked! The spicy noodles fit well with my spicy miso soup! So overall, my visit was more about the food than anything. I thought the sign in sheet was strange, but the service was consistent for me. After my first visit here 3 years ago, I thought Umaido had the best ramen ITP/OTP. I live ITP, so I only make the long trek out to Suwanee on special occasions. (I usually just go to Shoya for ramen) Jalapeño takoyaki: good but we could not appreciate any jalapeño taste Pork belly: very tender and flavorful but the chunks were huge! Spicy Miso Ramen with more flavor (+$1): broth wasn't very flavorful even though I did the extra flavor boost. The noodles were fine. The pork was fine. I wasn't impressed with the appetizers or ramen. I was surprised by how little flavor the broth had even thought I opted for the more flavorful option. Shoya has really improved their ramen over the past couple years - the spicy miso broth at Shoya is way more developed and flavorful. If you live ITP, save yourself the gas/time/trouble and go to Shoya. read more

If I were to rate Umaido just for the ramen, I would give them 5 stars. What sticks out is their noodles, there was such a distinct taste to it almost addicting even! Their chashu was also superb and the broth (even not the rich kind) was really tasty. The egg wasn't marinated long enough so it was a bit on the blander side, you would know because the egg white was too white, although it was cooked perfectly (I hate overcooked egg on my ramen). I would definitely come back just for this! Had the tonkotsu by the way. Unfortunately, the rest of our order was not up to par. The gyoza, although cooked to crispy (almost burnt, just the way I like it) perfection didn't have that much filling hence, lacked in taste. It was also odd that our appetizers, including the karaage bun came last. Speaking of the karaage bun, I believe the concept of this dish was truly great only it didn't taste like anything at all! The contrast in texture between the crunchy fried chicken and the soft steamed buns were spot on but it was just so under seasoned even when it had a sauce inside. Service definitely needs improvement, there were so many seats but they made us wait so long and we settled to sit on the bar which was even a bit dirty. It definitely needed wiping which I opted to do myself. If you're reading this, come for the ramen and you won't be disappointed.
