    Tuna Fantasy Roll
    Cameron S.

Fukulala is a charming little gem in Suwanee! Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you, the vibes inside are immaculate. It's a quaint, but quality experience with really nice interior decor and intimate lighting -- which really sets the mood right. The sushi is top notch! We had the Tuna Fantasy Roll, which is an out-of-this-world flavor packed roll served at a fairly large size. The tuna is FRESH and high quality and every bite proves it. The food came out in a timely manner and the service was excellent. As someone who is always looking for great sushi spots in the OTP area, I would highly recommend giving Fukulala a shot!

Fukulala is one of those places I'd love to be a regular at, but my wallet says "no" and points me to the Kroger down the street. Still, the siren call of the Smoked Salmon Sushi keeps bringing me back. The vibe tries for date-night intimacy, which works until a group of chatty diners gets seated right beside you. It's not like those cafeteria or hibachi grill places where you're seated directly next to strangers, but the restaurant is definitely trying to capitalize on the limited amount of space in here. So far the guests have been as friendly as the wait staff, so it hasn't been a problem yet, but if you've got a big group, go elsewhere. What I love about this place is that they have so many creative and fun rolls to try out. On my last visit, I was really into the Zen roll and the group I was with quickly devoured the smoked lobster roll (which I noticed it didn't seem to have any "smoke" flavor or aroma at all, unlike my Smoked Salmon favorite). I just have to remember to keep taking photos to keep track of all the tasty rolls I've tried.

This is it wtf $19 for this?

I have been cat fished. I fail to believe I just spent almost $20 on this pathetic bowl of ramen that brings no toppings. I am sick with a fever/infection in a hotel room expecting a beautiful, hearty, warm boil of ramen soup -- and this is what I received. Absolutely shameful. Disrespectful, even. It's the same consistency of cup noodles. I should've just made myself cup noodles and topped it with jerky for $16 less and it would've probably tasted the same. Wow

There is limited amount of parking right by the restaurant. It gets busy during the evening time. It's located right behind the Starbucks. Seating is limited but they do take reservation. I feel like 8 might be the largest table setting they have with possibility of squeezing in another chair. Service was great! Very attentive! Bang bang shrimp: nice and crispy, sauce was very flavored (not pictured) Spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll: very similar in taste, did not really have a hint of spiciness to it this time. Shrimp tempura roll: very standard, my son's favorite. Blue ocean: had the highest hope for this one but it was just okay. Rock and roll: by far my favorite! It doesn't have any rice in it. The cilantro sauce was delicious. Also loved the texture, has a slight chew to it. Chicken fried rice: meat was tendered, the rice was well flavored and lots of variety of vegetables in it. NY steak: a bit too sweet for my liking, wouldn't recommend. It does come with either white rice or fried rice. Alcoholic drinks are available. Overall a nice spot for sushi, everything tasted very fresh!

Spicy Tuna Biscuit appetizer -- insanely delicious, fresh oil for frying, not too heavy.

Gorgeous and delicious -- if getting a sushi high is your thing, this place can't be missed. The fish was so fresh, there are lots of unique rolls to try, and the service is seamless. The decor feels both cozy and high end. We went the first time for an early dinner on July 16 for my birthday dinner. The next day, my actual birthday, I changed my mind about getting brunch. We came back to Fukulala for birthday lunch. Yup, twice in less than 24 hours. No pic of Dynamite Tempura Roll or their fried rice, but both are highly recommended as well!!

I had dinner here Monday evening with a colleague. This spot is obviously known for its sushi, but the Shrimp Fried Rice is some of the best I've ever had. Their food is awesome and the service is stellar as well. I highly recommend them, and I will definitely be back.

Yumee Katsu is a modern-style katsu spot, and overall, the food is tasty even though I've definitely enjoyed some dishes more than others. My go-to order is the Assorted Katsu meal, and it's a winner for variety, flavor, and portion size. You get a couple of pieces of shrimp tempura, fish katsu, and pork & cheese katsu, plus the option to add a small side of udon or soba noodles. The fish katsu is light and flavorful, and the pork with cheese is a full-on cheese pull party. I also really enjoy their salad dressing and the dipping sauces that come with the donkatsu and fish katsu- they add a lot to the meal. The ambiance has a nice, modern vibe, and the service has always been friendly and welcoming. A small but thoughtful touch: they offer Asian candies for guests, which is a fun little refresher after your meal. Overall, Yumee Katsu is a great spot in Suwanee if you're in the mood for well-executed katsu in a cool, comfortable setting. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

It did me because I saw this place on social media and since it's another katsu joint, it must be tried and suffice to say, it's not bad! This location is in the plaza that shares the new Sambong, Gopchang Salon, CowWow, and the BBQ Chicken place off L'ville-Suwanee Rd. If you hit the H-Mart, you've passed it as it's got one of the most unassuming signage you can create. Inside, is spacious. Looks to seat roughly 60-80 heads. It's well lit, has a very Japanese decor to the interior, yet still provides a decent amount of coziness to your table without it being too dark. Now for the food. Being that it's a katsu place, I had to go with their flagship entree, the Yumee Katsu and also pair it with a mini soba which let's me for real, I love how they do soba here. It's not dipping soba which I love. The soba sits in a cold broth of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin which they season with some cabbage and toasted sesame seeds. Now for the katsu itself. The katsu itself is thick. Thick and juicy which delivers an amazing porky flavor. It's also fried beautifully. The crust is crunchy, flaky, and evenly distributed over the pork meat. Yet the fried panko doesn't mask the flavor of the pork which some places tend to do so the panko pork ratio is simply perfect because you get the initial crunch but then the thick pork meat hits your teeth and it's a beautiful marriage of crunchy with the meaty tenderness of the pork protein. They give you their own katsu dipping sauce, some mini cubed radish, two cubes of radish kimchi, and on the plate, a heaping handful of sliced cabbage with a dressing drizzled on top which provides another textural dimension from the fried pork. The katsu plate is $15. Since I added the mini soba which was another $2 then tax and tip, you're looking at at about $20-$24 in order to eat here. Not bad. Definitely worth visiting for a casual hang or even a date and you don't want to do the normal Atlanta date scene and feel like grabbing something different.

But nope, this place holds up to all the great reviews I heard and saw. We ordered the beef udon and their mixed katsu option with pork tender and cheese. Everything was delicious! Perfectly cooked and flavored. I am normally not a cheese katsu person, but it was good! Not too much cheese that overpowers the whole taste. Udon was great too and was the perfect combination with the katsu. Portions seemed smaller, more like what you'd get in Korea, which was perfect for me but others could need more food. Service was a bit lacking. There was only one male server even on a busy weekend lunch. A lady came out to help, but you still had to wait a while to get their attention. They had other workers there, but most seemed to have been in the kitchen setting up the trays. Hopefully they'll be able to improve that because otherwise I'd definitely visit again!

Shrimp Curry Udon - Classic Japanese curry: slightly sweet, super rich, and bold. Sauce coats every udon perfectly. Shrimp tempura a bit over-fried, slightly chewy, but tonkatsu-style breadcrumbs gave it a nice crunch. 8.5/10 Yakisoba - Generous portion for the price! Sauce has that tangy, fruity flavor I remember from Tokyo. Beef lightly seasoned. Personally, tangy noodles aren't my favorite, but Tokyo street-style lovers will enjoy. 8/10 Hibachi (Hambāgu) - Grilled Japanese hamburger steak, fried rice, sautéed veggies. Initially, entering the store was a bit off. The hostess didn't speak to me for about two minutes; she'd made the assumption I was with another party getting a pick up order. But after that was resolved, I was seated quickly. The store layout was nice; big booths with tall sides for privacy. I'm not sure if I liked how all their chopsticks were in a container you pulled from the table but overall a small detail. I did really like getting ice cold water and the metal carafe they provided kept the ice out of the drink. I went for their Aji Ramen and got the $10 3 handroll add on. My choices were unagi, toro, and spicy tuna. Shockingly they didn't have any spicy tuna do I chose a salmon instead. The hand rolls came out first and a pair of scissors were also provided if I wanted to cut them myself. Here are my thoughts: Toro - surprisingly bland. There wasn't the feeling of rich fatness that I expect with it though to be fair I am comparing this to a far higher end omakase experience. Needless to say, I wouldn't chose this again. Salmon - surprisingly good. This ended up being my favorite of the three. The salmon was nice and fresh and the soy sauce and wasabi made for tasty savor bites. Unagi - also good. I'm a sucker for eel. Because of the ponzu sauce, there's no need for soy sauce. I made a mistake of dipping a piece that I cut from the handroll and it was way too salty. Eaten as is, it was just what I expected Aji Ramen - a solid bowl of ramen. I was very pleased with the full egg and also the chashu pork. I don't know if I recall the bean sprouts but at $14, this was kind of a steal in terms of bang for buck. Plenty of food even by itself. All in all, I liked Aji-Katsu. I don't think I'd travel for it but if I was in the area and in the mood I would stop in again.
