Fukulala is a charming little gem in Suwanee! Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you, the vibes inside are immaculate. It's a quaint, but quality experience with really nice interior decor and intimate lighting -- which really sets the mood right. The sushi is top notch! We had the Tuna Fantasy Roll, which is an out-of-this-world flavor packed roll served at a fairly large size. The tuna is FRESH and high quality and every bite proves it. The food came out in a timely manner and the service was excellent. As someone who is always looking for great sushi spots in the OTP area, I would highly recommend giving Fukulala a shot! read more

Fukulala is one of those places I'd love to be a regular at, but my wallet says "no" and points me to the Kroger down the street. Still, the siren call of the Smoked Salmon Sushi keeps bringing me back. The vibe tries for date-night intimacy, which works until a group of chatty diners gets seated right beside you. It's not like those cafeteria or hibachi grill places where you're seated directly next to strangers, but the restaurant is definitely trying to capitalize on the limited amount of space in here. So far the guests have been as friendly as the wait staff, so it hasn't been a problem yet, but if you've got a big group, go elsewhere. What I love about this place is that they have so many creative and fun rolls to try out. On my last visit, I was really into the Zen roll and the group I was with quickly devoured the smoked lobster roll (which I noticed it didn't seem to have any "smoke" flavor or aroma at all, unlike my Smoked Salmon favorite). I just have to remember to keep taking photos to keep track of all the tasty rolls I've tried. read more

There is limited amount of parking right by the restaurant. It gets busy during the evening time. It's located right behind the Starbucks. Seating is limited but they do take reservation. I feel like 8 might be the largest table setting they have with possibility of squeezing in another chair. Service was great! Very attentive! Bang bang shrimp: nice and crispy, sauce was very flavored (not pictured) Spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll: very similar in taste, did not really have a hint of spiciness to it this time. Shrimp tempura roll: very standard, my son's favorite. Blue ocean: had the highest hope for this one but it was just okay. Rock and roll: by far my favorite! It doesn't have any rice in it. The cilantro sauce was delicious. Also loved the texture, has a slight chew to it. Chicken fried rice: meat was tendered, the rice was well flavored and lots of variety of vegetables in it. NY steak: a bit too sweet for my liking, wouldn't recommend. It does come with either white rice or fried rice. Alcoholic drinks are available. Wow. I feel fleeced. Came here at 1:35 pm on a quiet Friday afternoon after getting a rare day off from work to relax and I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal and ordered the "onakase" sushi b (12 nigiri). Didn't get my meal until 30 min later (there were only three tables including myself at this time and one ordered and ate before I even got my food). I was so hungry at this point I ate the entire plate instead of just walking out like I wanted to which pissed me off even more because while the fish was ok, the rice was dry and stale. Yet this is their chefs tasting menu. All this for $80 before tax. Absolutely shocked. Clearly from the reviews, this is not their usual quality?? I don't often get sushi due to the expense so it's a treat and this place disappointed me so much. the nigiri rice was somehow worse than what I've had when getting takeout sushi. Fyi I would have given 0 stars if possible but the one star is only deserved by the server who was quite nice and apologetic as he noticed how long I had to wait when the restaurant was practically empty. read more

The decor feels both cozy and high end. We went the first time for an early dinner on July 16 for my birthday dinner. The next day, my actual birthday, I changed my mind about getting brunch. James Bond roll and Blue Ocean were my favorites. The uni was good, I'm glad I tried it. My brother asked for the eel nigiri super well done and I got a piece...absolutely amazing. This is a small but nice area in the shopping center by Starbucks in Suwanee. We came on a Saturday night when they were swamped, but our server was still great. All of the sushi was delicious! This place is beyond! Stopped into Fukulala for an early dinner with a friend. Nestled in a busy shopping center, however we were able to find parking quickly and were seated immediately. Service was quick and helpful. This place immediately gives off chill vibes with its cozy seating and calming lighting. We immediately ordered. We order the pork belly buns, soju to drink, and a few of the shrimp and salmon signature rolls. Everything was delicious! And good size portion for everything. Fukulala is a quaint Japanese restaurant located in a shopping strip in Suwanee. I met with a friend here for dinner and we enjoyed the experience. The service was not good, however, and we could tell that our server was very inexperienced in regards to anticipating our needs. At one point, we were the only ones in the restaurant and had to wait 30 minutes for the check after prompting. I enjoyed the sushi rolls we ordered, which included the Tuna Fantasy and Haru Roll. It was certainly the most unique and beautiful presentation of sushi I've seen. For that reason, I recommend dining in vs. takeout. They also offer assorted wines and beer but unfortunately no cocktails. read more

We were driving back from a food festival event that was underwhelming and decided to stop on the way home to have dinner. We happened on this unassuming neighborhood sushi restaurant and decided to give it a try and so glad we did. The restaurant was 2/3 full at 8 pm on a Friday night and we took that as a good sign. The service was attentive and quick. My partner ordered the sashimi salad and I ordered the steak. I was halfway through my meal before remembering to take a photo so you're going to have to trust that the presentation was as good as the dish. The steak was pre-sliced and served on a bed of steamed broccoli and the rice was served in a separate bowl. I thought the meat was of good quality but the sauce (I tasted like a teriyaki sauce) was a little sweet for me but I generally don't like sweet sauces so it'll probably be fine for others. The sashimi salad came with a generous amount of protein and most surprisingly(in a good way) baby arugula was used. We weren't hungry enough to order other items but if you live in the neighborhood, definitely make this your go to if you like sushi. read more

Find out if it's just the one server (usually it is). If so, you will not get food before half an hour to longer. Mind you that's after you wait for over half an hour. I came here with my family for lunch on a weekday, and I have to say, I was really pleasantly surprised -- the food was so good that we came back for some takeout later in the week. This place is a bit more upscale than a lot of other sushi places I've been to in the area, and the prices reflect that. But I thought the quality of the food was fantastic (and the plating downright gorgeous), so if you're looking for a more elevated sushi experience, this is the place to go. We ordered the Winter Truffle Salmon, 2pcs of unagi, the tonkotsu ramen, the Out of Control (8 pcs), and the Sexy on the Beach (8 pcs). Everything was fresh and delicious and beautifully plated. They also manage to put together some beautiful flavor combinations: the Winter Truffle Salmon, for example, is dabbed in sea salt, seasoned with truffle oil, and garnished with micro-greens and thinly-cut radishes. The chefs at Fukulala definitely put effort into the details, which I really appreciate. We'll certainly be back! read more

Stopped in at lunch because I was next door at the jewelers and chick-fil-a Drive thru had a long line. I was immediately greeted and mentioned I wanted to place a to-go order. Grabbed a menu and decided on a shrimp teriyaki bento box. Paid for it and was offered a water while I waited on a seat by the door. Dining room is neat and classy. Had music playing, not traditional Japanese restaurant music, but it was nice. Order was ready in about 10 minutes. Food was so-so. California rolls were my favorite item, along with the salad.
