Went in on Sunday to grab a bite to eat. I got the 3 protein bowl, and it was amazing. The spicy snow crab and spicy tuna was delicious. And the seaweed salad is just like I had in my youth. Food is good, but the staff sucks. I had to call 5 times to order for pick up cuz someone kept hanging up on purpose. The woman who was working on 6/28/22 around 6:30PM. FIRE HER. When we got there, the owner was back and I guess she pretended to work then. When the owner leaves for a bit, she would intentionally not take orders. Uber Eats and Yelp was down too btw. She kept hanging up on purpose, so I called until someone picks up. Whenever she picked up the phone, she said nothing and hung up again. Called again and said "hello" first. Then I heard a "hello" from a lady. Her English was obviously bad, but that's not a problem when you're simply ordering food. We got 2 poke bowls and she said it'll take 20 minutes. 20 minutes for a poke bowl.. This is why we need AI. Replace these lazy, stupid workers and save the business owners as well. I have an obsession with sushi burritos, like I would drive all the way to Tukwila to Sushi Burrito just to get one. I'm really glad there's a sushi burrito place near by me now and I love the staff there, they're all so welcoming and understanding for customers. I really enjoy a special lady there too, she has a special place in my heart and seeing her smile brightens my day. Good food, but poorly run! We ordered online for our first (and perhaps only) experience at Umami. The website doesn't adequately describe what you are ordering. It would be okay if we already knew the dishes, but we did not. The English is surprisingly bad, given that it could so easily be fixed. They offer a free Bubble Tea with your first online order, but don't explain how to get it. We assumed we had to include it in our order, but that was wrong and we ended up with two, one for which we ended up paying! When picking up our order, there was confusion and miscommunication due to a language barrier. I ordered half rice and half spring mix on my poke bowl, but they gave me all rice (which I didn't realize until we were long gone). I'd give them only one or two stars, but the food was really good. The tempura and gyoza were amazingly crisp even after a 45-minute delay in eating. The fish in the poke bowl was fresh and tender. All the other ingredients were quite good as well. Food was good. It was difficult to tell what the choices were as the items are labeled on the menu on the wall rather than next to the food itself, so I had to ask. This makes ordering very slow if there's a line.They use large plastic disposable bowls for dine in and out which they do not recycle. It's nice to have a poke place in this area. read more
