Bonzi is response to dining here tonight... Craving some sushi and landed at KAI SUSHI in downtown Everett.... Quaint Little Japanese place with very nice waitstaff helped me on my voyage tonight. Ordered a Tempura Shrimp roll along with beef short rib special. Note the short rib special and was accompanied by soup , salad & rice... Ribs were done perfect tasting and came off the bone with minimal resistance... Look at the video and you'll see what an amazing meal I just had and should be jealous. We've now been to this place a couple times. Whenever we are out of a hockey game we try to check out new spots in North Everett. If you're going before a game get there early as this place fills up quick! Servers are nice but could be a bit more attentive. Food is definitely worth the wait. We had quite the variety. All of the sushi rolls are good. I always order the rainbow roll wherever I go, this one is decent but missing something. The sushi in general like I said was good, but also did not stand out to me. The chicken karange was like crispy pillows of chicken, did not need any sort of sauce in my opinion, but to each their own. The kalbi ribs were also cooked perfectly and were downright mouth watering. We also started off with the edamame which was salted well, most places just have it on the top and miss the mark throughout the rest of the dish. We dine in the area regularly, and didn't notice Kai Sushi before. The outside is deceiving, the inside is charming and comfortable. Clean :) We ordered spring rolls, two of their special rolls, and a plate of salmon and tuna sushi. It was very tasty! We'll definitely be back. read more

I didn't except to have such a great experience here! Looks like a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant attached in a strip of stores/restaurants but the food was So good! Service is relatively quick and decent prices for what you get. Definitely a place I'll be going back to and exploring more of the menu. read more

Another Friday night to go oder I haven't ordered from Kai Sushi in a while but remembered their Fried Calamari is good so I had that and a Salmon and Scallops roll. As far as the photo shows there was a little slide by the roll during transportation but that didn't affect the taste at all. The roll has a nice amount of scallops wrapped with rice and salmon slices overall not spicy so I added some wasabi for a hotter bite. The calamari are medium size rings batter fried and served with a spicy dipping sauce which had a nice little kick to it. Overall I will be back in the future they have a decent selection of rolls to choose from and if you dine in the have a nice Saki section also. Lastly the only issue is that finding parking can be a challenge. read more

It a small sushi place in downtown Everett. No wait for dinner @ 530pm on Tuesday. The nigiri tasted okay - not the best flavor or quality. Nothing special about my salmon roll but it was presented nicely. My water cup had an odd smell, so that bothered me during dinner. But the staff were very attentive and kind. There wasn't anything extraordinary about this place. It did get busy an hour later. There is 90 min parking out front. I wouldn't come here again...I recommend Wild Wasabi in Lynnwood instead. read more

In short These folks have a great menu and sake list. Service is warm and friendly and right on point. And sushi in Everett is a tougher racket all the time. In long There's a whole stretch of places worth checking out just along Colby here. I scored rock-star parking since it was slightly before dinnertime yet yesterday. You roll in to a pleasantly-dim space, walls are dark, lights are low. Booths to the right, banquette seating to the left. I got there just in time to have them pull one table off on its own--they had just cleared a 10-top that took half the banquette tables, and another 10-top was still going strong, talking, laughing, and eating. This place must get mobbed before Tips games. It was pretty crowded yesterday and it was barely 5. They have the usual hot appetizers, and a decent list of a few dozen cuts of fish. Classic rolls, modern rolls too. Basically everything everyone thinks of when they think of covering all the bases at a sushi spot, and that's it--and that's all I need pretty often. I got the Dassai "Otter Festival" sake, which had tons of character. Really nice one. The tako yaki were blazing steaming billowing hot, even after resting a few minutes. Tasty. Easily worth repeats but probably not the #1 version of this dish I've had. I'll say I'd be happy to drive back up there and get it again right now, though. The sashimi omakase was a nice mix of tunas, octopus, salmon, a couple other things, and a dab of uni. Plus plenty of shredded radish and sliced cukes. All good fish, and tasted great. I loved all 3 of the kids who stopped by the table, too. They kept the water full, and everything from the kitchen came out lickety split. They were friendly and warm without taking too long at the table--very charming staff here. I was out the door for under a hundred, after drinking their best sake and eating over a dozen pieces of sashimi. Excellent value. Generally enjoy eating here even though it's overpriced for portions (you have to go out about 15 minutes for better value) but a recent visit turned me away completely. It was a busy Friday night and I was happy to wait 30+ minutes for a table as conveyed over the phone. But when I arrived I was never acknowledged after waiting for 20 minutes in the doorway. 3 servers at one point were all behind the counter not at tables just standing there, maybe still busy or waiting on food but never acknowledging me. Even a simple nod to acknowledge they saw me and would be with me when they could would've been enough for me to have confidence I should keep waiting. A table became available and I was the only person waiting. I understood they were busy so continued waiting for a sign they were going to signal to me or talk to me. Multiple times they walked past me but never a single greeting or look to acknowledge they saw me and that I should continue waiting or I would be seated next. So after awkwardly waiting and standing in the doorway for 20 minutes (since there's no space to wait without standing awkwardly next to diners), I left and ate elsewhere. Bummer that a simple nod or eye contact would've left me feeling a completely different way. read more

We've been going here for several years and have noticed a decline in service. Tonight, upon seating we were told we were on a timeline to order before last call. We then waited 7-8 minutes for the server to greet us. We ordered all our food at the same time. When it arrived a roll was missing and we informed them. Another representative came out and said the kitchen was closed and they lost the ticket and would not be able to make the order. That order was removed from the bill but nothing else was done to repair the service issue. This was a vegetarian roll and a person at the table did not get to eat. It is disappointing that the restaurant did not do more to accommodate. read more

I was craving some sushi and Kai was on my list, so I stopped in yesterday for lunch and it did NOT disappoint. Just to keep things simple, I ordered their 6-pc nigiri lunch special, which also came with a spicy tuna roll and a steaming hot bowl of miso soup. It was the perfect lunch, and quite the bargain at just $19.99! The sushi was super fresh, and the proportion of rice to fish was perfection. The service was quick and my food came out fast. There weren't many people in there for lunch when I was there, but it looks like they do a huge takeout business. I really liked the ambiance, too - it was dark with soft lighting. Perfect spot for date night! Parking was easy, too, as there was plenty of free 90-minute street parking within steps of the restaurant. I will definitely be back here to satisfy a future sushi craving! Can't wait to try some of their more innovative rolls, too. read more

Hands down the best sushi spot in Everett. Tiny restaurant and very limited seatings, so be prepared to wait. I will say though that they get you in pretty quick. We ordered, apps, beer, and sushi! The service was excellent and our food came out fairly quickly. I was pleased that we didn't have to wait long. The spicy tuna crispy rice was by far my favorite small plate. It was sooo good! The calamari reminded me to burger kings onion rings. They are Panko battered versus tempura battered rings. They were extra crispy served with spicy Mayo. We got the tempura yam roll, California, crunch roll, and spicy tuna tempura. Everything we got was sooo good. I didn't get a lot of fresh fish sushi because I don't on my first attempt at a sushi spot, so I can't review that. But boy was everything so delicious and yummy!!! read more

Came here for lunch today to peruse the lunch special. Lots of good options available to suit a variety of sushi cravings in. I got the chefs choice four piece, with the spicy tuna roll. All of which was served at the correct temperature and was very fresh with good flavors. Miso soup to start, comes with the dish and had a nice mix of tofu, seaweed and a rich miso broth. Not a big deal but wanted folks to know so you come at 8:50 and expect to get seated/served. Second time I was here. Sushi is Subpar. The rice was mushier than normal. The shrimp is smaller than Sushi places that are more high end though this place does have a high end pricing. They made a mistake on my order but quickly remedied it. The place is clean. Decided to try this Sushi place instead of our go-to. We are not hardcore sushi peeps, more like California roll lightweights. We ordered California, Crunch, and Miami Heat. First impressions are: interior is pretty plain but nice and seems decently clean. Exterior does not look real inviting... lots of papers/notices on windows which haven't been cleaned in a long time. Best custom rolls I've ever had. This restaurant was packed the whole time I was there - the locals seem to know that this is THE place to get sushi in Everett and within a 30-mile radius. We were seated quickly (arrived by 5:30 mid-week), but there were groups waiting to be seated outside by 6pm. The wait staff was quick and polite. The food came out fast and fresh.
