The food was amazing and delicious. And the service was absolutely fantastic. The snow cone was so nice and cooked so well. I'm definitely coming back here

Why 5 stars? Because it's easy to find something you like here. --- --- --- The menu at Umami is enormous. It seems to cover about half of Asian cuisine - think: Cheesecake Factory, in terms of the menu size. A perfect illustration of this is what my wife and I ordered: 1) Kalbi (Korean Short Ribs) 2) Hibachi chicken and scallops 3) Shaggy Dog Sushi Roll All very different things that you would normally only get at very different restaurants. But Umami had them all and a lot more to choose from. Everything ranged from good to very good (4-4.5 stars) but I'm rounding up for the variety available and for the convenience of being one of the closer restaurants to my house.

The food was good. The fried dumplings real soft, like they'd been sat out for a long time, but the umami poppers were delicious though! The waitress was real nice but she didn't talk which was a strange experience, just nodded her head in agreement, or pointed to our drinks, etc. They were able to customize our sushi order and it was a good time. They had great music!

Amazing experience! From the staff to its owner. I felt like I was at a friend's house. The music and atmosphere was awesome. So smooth and very welcoming. The food was served timely and the owner even treated us to taste some authentic Korean sushi. I will be definitely be coming back.

Food is super fresh and so delicious. lots of fish in the rolls, not a lot of rice filler. The service is always great and I love the atmosphere, very posh but unpretentious!

The sushi is always delicious and consistent in taste and size! For such a cheap price, these rolls are huge! Must try: Eddie's #1 Bubba crunch add cream cheese & jalapeños Avocado shrimp roll add mango

I haven't been to Unami in several years. I am sorry I had not done so. The sushi is absolutely amazing. Spicy tuna is exactly that...SPICY! Very flavorful and fresh options. Eddie has a fantastic mind for sushi and his creations are incredible. Try the sake unagi with truffle oil and roasted garlic. The rolls are huge and there are so many to choose from. The cougar roll is a spicy tuna topped with seared peppercorn tuna. It's amazing. The place has a family feel and everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. I'll make up for my absence by returning many times soon.

    Shaggy Roll

Shaggy Roll was amazing!! Yaki Udon was a little salty but still good! I think I paid an extra $2 for the steak & $3 for the shrimp (something like that) but to pay extra for the protein, I wish there was a little bit more.

Very mediocre sushi. Low quality. Had a variety of rolls, sushi and nigiri and nothing was particularly good. Would not return.

Our host was welcoming and helpful. There is a cool seating area that's like a sunken dining room but we'd have to be barefoot and we had kids and at the time it wasn't ideal but surely will try it out next time. I wished it had some curtains for that area, it would make it even more special for a dining experience. They offer hibachi specials but not the table experience. There is a seating area for the sushi bar that customers can enjoy their sushi selections made fresh. The drink of choice that I got was a lychee martini I think it's called, it's so good! We had some dumplings and ordered the bento boxes. Even ordered some to go as it was so good the bento box selections that they have. We also had the sushi. Everything tasted very delicious. Can't wait to visit again.

We visited this location for a birthday dinner. We did teppenyaki and got steak, salmon, and…read morechicken dinners, along with a Shogun roll and a yellowtail hand roll. I got green tea for a beverage. Finished with a mango sorbet and a mud pie. The meal started with salad with ginger dressing and onion soup. The dressing was fine, and I prefer onion soup to miso, so we were off to a decent start. The teppenyaki show was pretty basic, some fun stuff but not particularly advanced. Shogun's teppenyaki is all seasoned mainly with teriyaki sauce. All of our food was a bit overdone, not a lot but enough to notice. Vegetables were fine. We got the fried rice, which is more fun since it's prepared in front of us, but it was just fried rice and eggs and ended up very sticky. I didn't eat much of mine. The yellowtail roll was ok, the flavor did not jump out but it was good with soy sauce. The sushi was also just OK, the flavors kind of run together. Not a lot of crunch for a crunchy roll. We got our shrimp appetizer last because one of our party had a seafood allergy and they do the shrimp separately if you ask, which is good. The shrimp were prepared just right. The mango sorbet was probably the best thing about the meal. The sorbet is tasty and it's served attractively in a halved mango. I can recommend that. The mud pie is a purchased frozen dessert but it was good. Service was fine, the server was attentive and helpful and the chef did his bit competently. The overall impression I got about the place is that it's tired. The decor is very simple and hasn't been updated in awhile--everthing is brown. The wallpaper was installed some time ago with obvious seams. It is showing wear in several places. The bathroom was reasonably clean but the urinal had flushing difficulty. What the place needs is a makeover, from the decor to the menu to the teppenyaki presentation. It's acceptable but I've had better teppenyaki in several places.

The whole family enjoyed our interaction at the teppanyaki table. It was a show of skillful cooking, and the chef provided a bit of comedy relief too. Very glad we decided to sit there. It made all the difference! Food was yummy. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly on the griddle, and the fried rice & yakisoba noodles tasted fresh and flavorful. The sushi was also good; nothing remarkable (in comparison to other establishments with a similar menu), but the rolls were tasty & had nice presentation. The whole family enjoyed the meal, including the kiddos. Some highs & lows (with room for improvement specifically in areas of customer service).... but we would probably give them another try.

We arrived around 5:00 p.m., and since the restaurant was not very busy, we were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive, and all of our food came out surprisingly quickly. Since it was my friend's first time visiting Kyuramen, we ordered a variety of dishes to give them a good introduction to the menu. Naturally, we had to try the restaurant's signature omurice. We ordered it with tonkatsu and sampled both the curry and demi-glace sauces. The omelet itself was perfectly cooked, with a silky, soft texture, and the rice was incredibly buttery. However, I thought the rice could have used a bit more seasoning, as it lacked flavor on its own. Between the two sauces, the demi-glace was the clear winner. Its rich, savory flavor balanced the creaminess of the egg and rice beautifully, while the curry tasted flat and reminded me too much of an instant curry cube. We also ordered the Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. While it was a decent bowl of ramen, it did not particularly stand out, and I was disappointed that it had almost no heat despite ordering the hottest spice level. The broth was enjoyable but lacked the bold spice I was expecting. Finally, we tried the popcorn chicken. It was good, but not among the best I've had. The breading was noticeably heavier than I prefer, and I wish the restaurant had been more generous with the fried basil, which usually adds a lot of fragrance and flavor. In fact, I think several local boba cafés, such as Teahouse, serve a better version. Overall, I walked away feeling disappointed. While the omurice with demi-glace was the highlight of the meal, everything else ranged from average to underwhelming, especially considering how much praise this restaurant receives. For the prices they charge, I expected dishes with more flavor and better execution. Between the bland curry, underwhelming ramen, and mediocre popcorn chicken, I don't see myself going out of my way to come back, not only to this location but to the others, too.
