This is my favorite sushi place so I visited for my birthday. The sushi is is always fresh and made to order. What a great hidden gem we've found! Great sushi spot, it's cozy and cool, food is awesome and service with a smile. I mean, that's really all that needs to be said, but I have to give a little more credit where it's due. When you walk in, the decor is so cool you forget suddenly that you're in a shopping plaza in Timonium. The space is small, but we didn't feel cramped. Smaller parties recommended, but they do a brisk carry-out business as well. Great sushi, there even was a decent selection of non-raw for those that aren't quite there yet. I think it's time for a re-review! I still think Edo is on the pricier side but their sushi is very good! I've gotten carry out a couple times from Edo of the course of quarantine and the rolls have always been a decent size with a lot of fish. I used to frequent the Edo Sushi on Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills. The sushi was always fresh and tasty. I loved the seafood appetizer soup. I also loved their fried oysters. They were hot, light, crispy, with plump, nice delicious oysters inside. I would always get these foods with a refillable nice unsweetened ice tea with Splenda or Equal. The service was excellent and ambiance was nice and quaint. The restroom was clean and pleasant too. I highly recommended this place in Lutherville, MD too. When you first look at the prices for their specialty sushi rolls, you think "This place is expensive" . And it is. But that is because they use premium ingredients for their sushi. We started with an appetizer pan fried Shrimp gyoza. The dish was perfectly prepared, slightly crispy dumplings, packed with seafood and a great dipping sauce. We followed this up with 5 rolls, some cooked, others not cooked. To me, the standout was a shrimp tempura roll with crabmeat outside and a delicious citrus sauce on it. And while the price was $17.95, it was an enormous roll with perfectly cooked tempora and loaded with crabmeat. With an appetizer and this roll, you could make a meal. But as we usually do, we ordered too much food. No problem, we took it home and had it the next day. The freshness of the ingredients made it just as delectable the next day. Because my usual sushi restaurant was closed for staff vacations, I decided to try the Edo Sushi restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted by my overall experience. I dined alone and seated myself at the sushi bar. First of all the decor, ambiance and "vibe" of the restaurant was excellent. Just what you would expect at a sushi restaurant. The restaurant was quite full with most of the tables occupied. The acoustics of the dining area were good so the sound level was very pleasant but still active with many voices. I had an assorted sushi platter with some extra pieces. All the sushi was very fresh, well made and very tasty. My miso soup was excellent and served at just the right temperature. The menu was very extensive and went well beyond my simple food selections. More reason to return and try some of the various alternative selections on the menu. The staff service was very friendly and attentive. It was clear that all the staff were dedicated to making sure their customers' needs were met promptly and agreeably. The only slightly negative experience I had at Edo Sushi was the use of their provided silver metal "chop sticks" They are round and for me felt slippery and this made it more difficult for me to use them and securely hold my sushi pieces as I ate them. This was a minor inconvenience at worst, maybe more due to my lack of "chop stick" dexterity than anything else. This place was an unexpected surprise. Located in a nondescript strip mall Edo Sushi offers fresh delicious Japanese cuisine. Due to the COVID pandemic it appears only take out orders are offered. When entering the premise it feels like a ghost town with the empty tables. But the people who work there are so warm and inviting. I immediately noticed all the precautions they have taken with the social distancing signs and sanitizers. I felt very safe inside placing my order. They have a huge selection of sushi and noodle dishes. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch special with miso soup and the vegetarian spring rolls. Upon opening the package at home the portion size of the lunch special wasn't too much nor to little. The chicken was tender and lightly drizzled with teriyaki sauce. The sides were white rice and fresh broccoli and carrot sprigs. The miso soup wasn't salty which is so hard to do with that soup. The best part of the meal was the vegetarian spring rolls. I've been here a handful of times, but the service is not the same as it used to be. In the past, we've gotten complimentary tea and hot towels and the sushi tasted fresh and flavorful. But recently, I've been disappointed with the experience here. I came here for dinner and ordered the rice soup to start. However, I didn't like it and wanted to send it back. I asked my waitress and after she talked to her manager, she told me that she couldn't take it back because "it's not their fault I don't like the soup". The soup was only $3.25, so not a huge deal, but what a horrible example of customer service. I've spent years dining in restaurants and working in customer service, and I would never refuse a request for a customer to send back food nor has a restaurant ever not been willing to take something back that I didn't enjoy. Even though it's not a big waste of money, this experience has been disappointing and I will not be dining here in the future. Also, the sushi lacked flavor- and I used to consider Edo Sushi to be one of my favorite places to get sushi. Sad. read more
