Excellent service and food. We were there for lunch today when a large group showed up to dine. The restaurant prepared a massive selection of sushi for the group. All was beautifully crafted! Their lunch specials are delicious and reasonable too!

I was so excited for sushi and I've been waiting for this for a long time. I just got home and took a bite they forgot the tobiko my favorite part, this is an hour of my wage lol kinda lame to get it wrong they also didn't double check and almost out a California roll instead of the caterpillar roll, my favorite part is the sauce on it I think it's called tobiko and without that it's just soy sauce you're eating it with

I love Umi Sushi in Windsor! The rolls were absolutely delicious. Our waiter was so attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. I have been feeling a bit sick so I got some miso soup as well. Definitely a spot I will be coming back to.

We had a party of 6 on Friday night with no reservation, and they were able to accommodate us. The atmosphere is nice, though the tables are really close together. The sushi was solid, and the staff was helpful and accommodating. We loved the veggie tempura; it was delicious. The 49er Roll and the Geisha Roll were both excellent. The menu is extensive, with lots of choices. We will be back.

Absolutely loved the sushi here. We tried the spicy tuna sliders for something new to try and it was delicious.

As a Chinese-American, I've eaten plenty of Asian dishes, from sushi to pho to stir-fry. I have to say, this visit to Ume on March 12, 2025, will be one I remember for a long time. I ordered the Tempura Udon and shared the Agedashi Tofu with my family. Each vegetable and shrimp were perfectly fried and crunchy, and the soy dashi broth was so comforting on the rainy night we visited. The way the tofu was prepared was unlike anything I had ever tasted. Delicious! The restaurant owner also took the time to visit our table to ask about our meal. We appreciated the personal touch! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

We haven't been back here in a few years. Not for any particular reason, we just sort of forgot about this restaurant. We finally went the other day, and it was so good. Our waiter, Eric, was very friendly and helped make good recommendations. We did a sake flight cause why not and the spicy tuna sliders. Everything was so good. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later this time around! :)

    Lady-in-Red

This place has been my sushi sanctuary for years. I order the same roll (Lady in Red) 90% of the time because if it ain't broke, don't fix it--and once again, it did not disappoint. Always fresh, always delicious, and always worth it. Also, their Happy Hour (4:30-6:00) draws a crowd, and for good reason. Three big groups were already on it while I was there. If you haven't hit up Umé yet, treat yourself--it's worth the trip!

On the strength of all the positive Yelp reviews and the photos of good looking food Barbara S. and I finally made it here for a completely satisfying meal. Barbara ate a garden salad and a rainbow roll. She declared both to be top notch. The crispy fresh salad greens were dressed with a bright tasting dressing. The rainbow roll was a delight to see, made really well. I had the pork ramen soup. The pork bone broth was deeply rich. The noodles were toothsome, the slices of pork soft and delicious, the egg had that gooey yolk, the vegetables just barely cooked to retain their vibrancy. I asked for medium spicy broth, it was just that. The first sip was a chili shock but then settled into a mellow quiet warmth. Surprising alcohol list. Given the humble, not at all fancy dining rooms you wouldn't expect to see a $240 bottle of Kosta-Browne Pinot Noir on the menu, but there it is. I decided to drink a $7 bottle of Asahi beer. 3 servers helped us through the meal. All were kind, friendly, informative and efficient. We arrived on a Saturday 5:15pm. An hour later upon exiting the place was packed and there were at least 30 people waiting to be seated. So table reservations are highly recommended. Of the many, many Japanese restaurants in Sonoma County, this one for quality of food, the wonderful employees is in the upper echelon. The dining room is pretty basic and not pretty. If a $100,000 was spent to lavishly decorate the place, the owners could double the menu prices and still have a booming business.

They have a massive selection of teas, pretty much any kind you can think of and then some, as well as an impressive selection of sake. Which all goes well with their ramen, which is the only thing we tried this time. It's not quite the typical ramen you would see at Japanese spots in SF or South Bay, but I imagine quite good for North Bay and tasty in their own right. I wouldn't mind going back even just for teas and sake and maybe some lighter bites.

The prices for what you get is ridiculous, and the atmosphere is rustic and western. You would think this was Steak 48 or Mastros looking at the reviews and seeing the prices. They could learn a lot from them. My husband had the ribeye ($95) that was over cooked and burnt tasting. My salmon ($58) was dry and the flavor (tasted pre frozen, not fresh) was lacking. The "wedge salad-".. the menu states "wedge salad" ($26) was very sparse and made with little gem lettuce (5 whole leaves), the summer melon salad ($24) was watermelon cubes with 4 cherry tomato halves with a tiny bit of basil chiffonade with topped with some inexpensive balsamic vinegar. My I had a cosmopolitan which was good, however the waiter suggested my husband try a margarita (found the price was $28.00 when the bill arrived!) . The waiter gave us a lesson in ordering steak. When my husband asked for medium rare plus, he said there is no such thing. He boasted about being a server for 10 years and that there's no such thing. He said it's an insult to the chef. Well we've been to many restaurants and many upscale Michelin restaurants and no one has ever corrected us in how we order our steak temperature. But thanks for your sage advise! I would not recommend this restaurant unless you aren't that interested in quality food. ****In response to you reply Jason, I was genuinely surprised by your response. I have always believed that when writing reviews--whether positive or negative--there is an obligation to be honest, fair, and respectful. Suggesting that my review was "malicious" is both inaccurate and disappointing, as that is simply not my nature. You stopped by our table before we had even eaten our meal, so there was no opportunity at that point to comment on the food itself. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the level of quality or value we expected. Spending $333.67 for a mediocre steak, salmon that did not taste fresh and was poorly seasoned, a few pieces of watermelon and cherry tomatoes, and an unusual five-leaf "wedge salad," along with two drinks, fell well short of what one would expect from a restaurant with San Francisco fine steakhouse pricing. Rather than responding defensively to constructive criticism, I would have hoped for a more thoughtful and professional reply. As business owners ourselves, we understand that not every customer will leave satisfied. We view honest feedback as an opportunity to evaluate our business, improve where necessary, and educate our staff--not as a personal attack. My review was never intended to be malicious. It was simply an honest account of our experience. I hope you will choose to view it as constructive feedback rather than dismissing it outright. I wish you and your team the very best.

Service? 5/5. We spent the entire time talking to the owner Sean as he cooked for us. Sean is truly made for hospitality... he's extremely warm/friendly and made us feel right at home. He even gave us two complimentary dishes -- the zhong dumplings & chicken congee set! SO generous. If we lived in the neighborhood, this would certainly be a regular spot for us. Food? 4/5. Love the menu, which is essentially a collection of some of my childhood favorites. The dishes are also all very homey, albeit a bit more fusion/creative than traditional. We had the below items: Hong Kong Claypot Rice du Jour (with chicken & lapcheong) - they nailed the crispy rice at the bottom!! While it wasn't the most fragrant claypot rice I've had (the lapcheong is store bought vs. home-cured, which makes a big difference), the savory/sweet sauce and the rice texture certainly hit the spot. Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice - I loved the ridiculously tender braised pork! The sauce was also very flavorful, although it was a bit sweeter than the typical lu rou fan in Taiwan. However, my husband absolutely loved this dish. Smashed Cucumbers - So refreshing and addicting. We couldn't stop eating one bite after another. It was a great appetizer and opened up our appetites. Zhong Dumplings - The sauce on these dumplings are indescribably delicious. Spicy, sweet, and oh-so-fragrant... we crushed every drop of it. Chicken Congee Set - This reminded me of my mom's congee! Loved that it's served with a side of rou sung (pork floss), zha cai (picked veggies), and fu ru (fermented bean curd)... just the way I like it! All in all, we loved our meal & will certainly be back the next time we're in wine country!

Service was friendly, helpful with any questions that we had, and checked in here and there. We had ordered the rock cod and mapo tofu along with the zhong dumplings, smashed cucumber, and fish fragrant eggplant to share. My favorites were the smashed cucumber and the mapo tofu. The sauce on the cucumber was really well balanced. It was a great compliment to the eggplant and mapo tofu which were heavy on the spice. The mapo tofu the sauce was clean with just a bit of tingle; not over powering in that sense. I'd want the sauce to inundate the tofu tho but it's just a different application. For the eggplant, the flavor was good and the meat of it was cooked through. The skin however wasn't on all of it making it hard to bite through depending on which piece you got. The zhong dumplings had a nice balance for sweet and savory though I didn't notice the spiciness as much. The rock cod was well cooked though I didn't try it myself since I was limiting meats/seafood that day. Overall, the application of spice and chilis made for really balanced flavors across the board. We'll certainly be back through to try out more of the menu. It's nice to see more options for asian flavors popping up in the area over the last few years.
