Chicken bowl with rice and toppings (all the way)

Umma kitchen is a nice place, close to pidemont park. Its a similar concept like chipotle except its Korean. You choose your base, protein and toppings. You order on the ipad which are attached to table and pickup the food at counter once ready (Payment at the counter). The portions are huge and food is made to the order. There are few condiments at the counter where you pick up the food. Water, barley tea are free and there are several drinks avaliable for purchase. Plenty of parking as its part of the shopping complex. Prices are 15$ to 18$ per bowl.

We ordered a variety of things and everything was very tasty with a huge portion. I like the idea you can customize your bowls from ingredient to sauce. Bulgogi with glass noodles were fantastic. They were also very careful to accommodate food allergies. Rice cake side dish was a surprise. The outside was crispy and the inside were gooey. I also like the sweet and spicy sauce. However, I'm not a big fan of the bubble tea. We ordered brown sugar bubble tea and it was mostly milk.

Always such a warm and inviting place! The people here are genuinely kind, and the food is absolutely delicious. I love their unique assortment of snacks and every now and then, they even surprise you with free samples! Every time I'm in the area, I'm reminded just how much I adore this place.

I still daydream about this place! You order from your table through a device and food comes right up. I had a rice bowl with protein and added additional veggies. PHENOMENAL. I also had a boba Thai tea, which I could've done without the boba and will go without next time. But if you need a quick, healthy, satisfying lunch, this is the place!

Food: Great portion sizes and fresh ingredients. Reminds me of food back home. We tried the spicy chicken and the teriyaki bibimbaps and would recommend both. They have a good proportion of rice to veggies to protein. Service: Food comes out quickly and the staff are very kind. You order at a table on the iPad and pickup/pay at the counter. Self-service water area. Restroom available inside. Ambiance: Peaceful and clean indoor seating with warm, diffuse lighting and soft piano music. Outdoor patio seating available, and it's dog-friendly.

I'm a lover of all things poke bowl and decided to check out Umma which is relatively new. Such a cute and aesthetic restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. You order via the many tablets around the restaurant and then pay at the register. I ordered a medium poke bowl which to my surprise came with three proteins because most places do like 2 for medium. As you can see, my bowl was filled to the brim and they did not skimp out on toppings or protein. Super delicious and came out very fast. I opted to get the sweet chili sauce--I'm normally an eel sauce girl but they didn't have that here--and it was a nice replacement. Overall, great poke spot! Definitely want to come back and try some of their Korean dishes and their boba.

Yummy food and very kind staff. I had the teriyaki tofu and my wife had the teriyaki chicken. Very good and large portions. The staff gave my young child a free bowl of rice to go with his crispy chicken 5 stars

    Bulgogi Bibimbap

Nice atmosphere and decor, friendly greetings, clean and most/if not all items under $18/base price. Portions are quite large, I feel like all the bibimbap and bowls could be 2 portions or 1 with leftovers. Been here multiple times, always fresh and delicious (and seems healthy)! I've tried all the bibimbaps (spicy chicken, bulgogi, teryaki --- fav is bulgolgi) except tofu --- all are very flavorful and filling! Simple to customize ingredients and flavors/sauces thru their tablet on each table --- it's mostly self-service and you pickup the food at the counter when they call you. There is also human-human interaction/ordering available :) For side, I've tried DUKKBOKKI - light spicy, yummy! I really love their free water and free barley tea...hot so be careful. They've added ice-cream bars and also have option of cooking ramen....not tried it yet. I've always sat inside, usually not loud/quiet and plenty of seats. They do have a cute outdoor area. A++ highly recommend!

I love going here whenever I shop at the Trader Joe's nearby. The portion sizes are great, and the spicy tuna is always fresh. Every time I've gone there, everyone is so sweet and gives great recommendations!! They also provide free barley tea which is delicious.

Soon after we sat down, there was a live performer that played guitar and sang songs, she was so good! For the food, the ribs were delicious. The ribs fell right off the bone. 1/2 slab of ribs were more than enough for a meal. The rum baked beans and the collard greens were my personal favorite sides. If there was a rub, it was subtle to the point of being almost untasteable. Quarter rack of Ribs: poor. Meaty, but far too tough, definitely not fall off the bone. Again lacking in flavor, and burnt in spots. Side of Mac n Cheese: easily the start of the show. Very flavorful, baked and not swimming in cheese sauce, possible notes of ritz crackers detected. I'd have eaten a main course sized portion, and imagine it could mix well with pulled pork or chopped brisket, should Matt's ever consider expanding their repertoire of meats. Side of potato salad: also very solid. Simple but nicely flavored, just creamy enough. Side of collards: fine but unremarkable. Bbq sauce: decent-ish, more tangy than sweet. Very thick. Packaging : Matt's really could improve here. The ribs and chicken, piled together between two slices of white bread, was wrapped in white paper which was in turn stuffed into a paper bag with the containers of sides. This was messy- yes, bbq is by nature a messy undertaking, but a clamshell container would've made the whole fiasco a lot easier to deal with. A fork and spoon were included, no knife... and no napkins. Really? For a paper wrapped oversauced pile of meat... not even a single napkin? I honestly would've been fine paying an extra buck or so for some better packaging and, IDK, maybe a wetnap. Overall, this bbq lover was unimpressed. Perhaps the rave reviews made my expectations too high. I've honestly had better bbq at multiple places in my relative bbq desert hometown of Boston. I was hoping for a real treat during my business trip to Atlanta; instead, I'm yearning for the joint near my suburban New England home...

What initially brought me in was Atlanta Burger Week, and I ordered their featured burger to take advantage of the special. While the burger was good, the real star of the meal was the smoked barbecue fried rice with brisket. It was absolutely fantastic. The brisket was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. The fried rice itself was packed with flavor and had such a unique, smoky taste that perfectly complemented the barbecue. It is not often that a side dish completely steals the show, but this one certainly did. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food arrived promptly, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. It is always exciting to discover a restaurant that delivers something a little different, and Sweet Auburn BBQ does exactly that by blending flavors and cuisines in a way that feels both creative and comforting. AMBIANCE The experience got off to a rough start with parking. They validate parking at a local parking structure or garage but the directions on the placard outside the establishment were unclear.... with an arrow to the back. The back of what? As newcomers to the restaurant and the area, the parking structure and restaurant that was point of refernece was not helpful. There wasn't even an address or street name to go by. We ended up circling behind nearby buildings and down another street before finally finding the parking structure. It felt unnecessarily confusing and set a slightly frustrating tone before we even walked in. Once inside, things improved. We were seated right away in a booth on the right side of the dining room. The space had a stylish, eclectic feel....interesting decor with a lively, buzzy energy. Not overly loud, but definitely active for a weekday night. SERVICE Service was efficient and welcoming through though. Our waitress quickly brought water and drinks and gave us time to look over the menu. The concept of Asian fusion twist meets Southern BBQ is intriguing, but as first-timers, it took some effort to picture how the flavors would come together. We found ourselves cross-referencing Yelp photos for awhile just to get a better sense of what to expect. FOOD We decided to get started with the brisket egg rolls, one of their most popular items. They arrived in about 10-15 minutes and were a solid opener...found them crispy, flavorful, and a creative twist on the usual pork ones. For mains, we ordered the BBQ plate with fries and collards, along with the smoked chicken curry. The BBQ plate was fine...nothing really amazing and pretty tiny portions for what you're paying for. The flavors were good, but not justified for the premium. The chicken curry was fine. For $17.50, I definitely expected more pulled pork that people were raving about....the dish was more than 1/2 rice and potatoes. The standout, by far, was the brisket egg roll...easily the highlight of the meal and better than we anticipated given the fusion concept. Overall, it felt like you're paying a bit more for the concept and presentation than the actual quantity. Wouldn't come back again.
