New place that recently opened up near my airbnb with some amazing pictures and good looking food so definitely had to try. I got the Chilequiles de Mole as well as French Toast Slider (they let you get to try all three french toast they have for the same price as one!) For the Chilequiles de Mole, a solid 8/10. I had gotten it with chorizo and for me, the chorizo was a bit too overcooked and dry for me, but the flavor was still very nice. This combined with the Mole sauce made a nice earthy yet meaty flavor which was amazing with the Chilequiles. What brought this down on star for me though was the french toast slider, 3/10. Although the plating and picturesque appearance of the toast was stunning, the flavor was just not there. The bread was very bland and dry and the fruits they used were really sour. It was as if they just barely coated the outside of the bread with whatever topping the french toast was for and then ignored the inside of it so the center was also just eating normal bread. It took forever to get through one piece and we ultimately decided we couldn't even finish it after trying all three as we didn't like any of them. Overall, would definitely love to go to try their other entree menu items, but would not get the toast :( read more

Hello, I had a reservation at Un Amor restaurant on March 7 at 10:00 AM, and I wanted to share feedback about our experience. Unfortunately, the service we received from our waitress was disappointing. When she asked if we had been there before and we told her it was our first time, she did not offer any recommendations or explain anything about the menu. She did not attempt to suggest dishes or drinks, which would have been helpful for first-time guests. Throughout our visit, she rarely checked on our table, did not ask if we needed refills, and did not appear very welcoming. She also did not smile or engage with us much. In contrast, the busboy and another staff member were much more courteous and attentive. I'm sharing this feedback because good service makes a big difference in the dining experience. If the staff were trained to be more attentive and proactive--such as recommending menu items, checking on guests, and creating a welcoming atmosphere--it could greatly improve the customer experience and help your business grow. Amazing! The food, the space, the staff...all amazing! The hardest part was making a decision on what to order. I had to try the mole chilaquiles. The mole is homemade and made in house (yes, all the 20+ ingredients!). It's sooo flavorful I wish I could take some home. The carne asada bowl is also a huge hit! There's so much flavor in the steak, tender and delicious. The potatoes are properly seasoned you don't even need to add any sort of condiment like at other breakfast spots. Lastly, and probably the best and first in Chicago, Wagyu quesabirria. Wowwwww! It's like butter, and the flavor is all there. I love that they give you the cilantro, onion, and salsa on the side. We came here at 10:30am today (a Sunday). It's a pretty, bright and airy space. We brought our 11 month old and were promptly seated with a high chair (we saw other parents with little ones stroll in and out so it's a nice space that is also child friendly). I got a mojito that was delightful while the husband got a drink of half orange juice and half grapefruit juice. I ordered the mole chilaquiles while the husband got the smash burger. Both were really good. Service was great. Wasn't loud in there, no annoying music making it hard to converse. We will definitely be back! read more

We came for the first time to Un Amor to celebrate my sons golden birthday today. We chose it based on it being an independent family owned business with food made from scratch. We started with ube horchata lattes and delicious empanadas. 2 of us had the mole chilaquiles with added steak. The mole was the best we ever had with the perfect sweet and heat! The steak was tender with a fresh green garnish. My son enjoyed the chicken and waffles and daughter loved her brisket skillet. This might be a record for fastest review I have ever done immediately after service. But it is for good reason and well worth it. If I were judging the place by how but and popular it was on a regular mid Saturday afternoon, Un Amor wouldn't need it. They seem popular enough! My motivation to do a rare immediate review is the quality of food and more importantly, service. I had the beef cheeks empanada and beef quesabirria and both were 10/10. The empanada was a healthy size empanada, flaky and freshly made and the beef cheeks filling was so delicious, well seasoned, amply filled so you know they were not skimping like you see in other places. The birria was tremendous. Perfectly assembled and so well complimented by 2 different sauces, one for dipping obviously, the other for added flavor on top as needed. The birria was so delicious I completely ignored the onion and cilantro on the side which I almost never do. I have had more bland birria dipping sauces than is possible to count, this was the opposite. You can tell thought and love is put into the dishes at Un Amor. And speaking of love, as a.axong as the food is here, the service was exceptional. At least for me it was. And chief reason for that the wonderful lady who served my, Carla (I hope i got that spelled correctly). I told Carla as I was paying my bill that she was the smile and ray of sunshine I needed in my life today LOL. Carla greets EVERYBODY with the warmest most genuine smile and radiant energy you will find in any establishment in Chicago! Throughout my time eating, Carla (I believe she said her family owns or at least runs the place, I think, was checking in on everyone customer at the bar, totally engaging and connecting with everyone in a way that leaves you no doubt she loves what she does and genuinely cares about her customers and people in general. She constantly checked in on me to make sure I had everything I needed. I was genuinely and truly blown away by the service here every minute I spent at thus restaurant. Carla was also kind enough to introduce some of the other staff...Emily was fantastic as well, and Nico who made me one of the best cortadas I have had outside of Hialeah, Miami FL, which is a big big compliment coming from this coffee/espresso snob! If this tells you anything about the vibe, 2 different customers, strangers I have never met before, sitting next me, voluntarily engaged in friendly conversation about Un Amor, the food, drink, service each time raving about the family type energy at Un Amor in this cute, clean, beautiful spot (that feels both neighborly and classy) that as of today has become one of my new favorite places. This fusion of Mexican, Argentinian and Ecuadorean fare left my family and I so enamored with our meal we were still talking about it hours after we'd left! First, we were grateful they were able to accommodate six adults and a toddler easily, and the staff was so nice! We were lucky enough to hear about this place when we were visiting Chicago. We came for brunch on a Saturday. We showed up when they opened, which turned out to be a good idea because it filled up pretty quickly. The empanadas were outstanding, quite possibly the best we've ever had. The cochinita pibil tostada, complete with fried egg on top, was also amazing. Everyone we came with said what they had was wonderful. I only find myself in Chicago once in a while, but I'd go well out of my way just to get those empanadas again. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the place itself is friendly and inviting. My husband loves chilaquiles and we've been on the hunt for a place to replace Tilly's on Halstead or Kingsbury Cafe that both closed. Un Amor was very good. It was very clean and stylish with a nice vibe. The service is a standout, with some really great service and attention.
