This place is AMAZING! I had the chance to sample a burger at VegFest, so when we landed at DTW after a long day of travel, I was super excited that Unburger was still open. It was a 15 minute detour from the airport. Heads up that they've "revamped" the menu, so some of the items on the menus pictured here on Yelp are discontinued. We got the Unoriginal, Mushroom, and Buffalo Chicken Ranch. The burgers are messy. If you can live past that, they are unreal. Everything on the menu is vegan (all cheese and sauces and even the cake and cookies at the checkout!). Grab extra napkins and buckle in for a fabulous experience without the guilt. Gee, is this an unburger like 7-Up was the uncola? On our way to the Henry Ford, I saw this spot and made a mental note to look it up on Yelp. Buoyed by the positive reviews, Jamie W. and I decided to stop for lunch on our way to Henry and Clara Ford's manse, Fair Lane. Saw a recent news video and being vegetarian wanted to give it a try. Drove an hour and wasn't disappointed. Everything was great! You wouldn't know the difference yet so much healthier for your heart. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Fast food yet made fresh daily and not processed. Unburger original and hippie hash delish. So sad how service here turned out. Tried ordering carry out and the website online didn't work so I called to place the order. I ordered my food at 7:02pm and they said about 15 mins I got a text at 7:24 saying the food is complete. I get there around 7:30 and it's not ready so I wait and wait until 8:06pm to get my food for it to be completely cold. An hour after ordering what's the point of even sending me a text saying the food is done. The worst part was I was waiting to see if they told me it's done soon but the girl avoided the counter the whole time. Then 5 min later they have all my food made. Sometimes, your enjoyment of a restaurant has a lot to do with what you choose to order. I've had jackfruit before, and I know it can be done with the consistency that's similar to pulled pork. So, this time, I ordered the fajita seasoned jackfruit sandwich. It's so incredibly tasty, it almost makes me want to swear off having actual pulled pork. Almost. Seriously, if I didn't know better, I'd swear I was eating a pulled pork sandwich. The seasonings are exactly what you'd expect from a pulled pork sandwich, and even the consistency is the same. The big difference? I don't feel sick an hour after eating it. That's a big improvement. Then, there's the brussels sprouts slaw. I had it before, and I remembered loving it, but it seemed sweet to me when I took the first bite. Then I took another bite, and I remembered why I loved it so much. The bitterness of the sprouts are balanced by the sweetness of the apple perfectly. It just takes a bite or two for that awesomeness to sink in. Although I'm not a vegan, I love the concept of Unburger Grill, and particularly appreciate that it brings a welcome option for local vegans and variety to the Dearborn restaurant scene. For my inaugural visit, I tried the bbq jackfruit sandwich and a side of fries. The bbq jackfruit sandwich was huge and the bun was quality. I think it could have used more flavor and texture - maybe some onion strings, "cheese," and more or spicier bbq sauce. It was a decent sandwich on its own but I've had a tastier version before elsewhere, so this is just a recommendation to the restaurant to kick it up a notch. The fries were outstanding, plentiful, and crispy and with the skin - a real bargain for only $1 additional. we drove from kind of far to one here based on the fact that their menu had GLUTEN FREE labels and options available. we ordered two burgers and prompted for the gluten free bun. after ordering we went to the counter to just double check our burgers would be gluten free, not just the buns. the employee nodded his head and said yes those two will be gluten free yes. after getting our order I wanted to double check with the cook who gave us the order and she said " just the bun " and she would have to take off 3 of the things to make it gluten free. what kind of establishment labels their food gluten free when it's not and their employees have no idea apparently . Was really excited to try this place out. We ordered over $100 worth of food ...Couple of things were a turn off though. - Burgers are really messy and literally falling apart before you start to eat it - The mushroom melt burger was way too salty - I was super excited to try the hippie hash because of the brussels sprouts but the two that we ordered had 90% potatoes - for a burger place they really need to invest in a condiment dispenser instead of having to ask them to give you multiple packets of ketchup and mustard which they seem to do begrudgingly. - Overpriced in my opinion. - The strawberry milkshake we ordered looked like a vanilla shake, and it tasted more like a sweet shake, no strawberry flavor anywhere to be found. It's so obvious they paying for fake reviews around the web, many one and done reviewers. It was a half an hour drive to get to this place so we definitely will not be coming back . read more

My family is vegan and we have been coming to Unburger for a few years now. In the past it was a 5-star slam dunk and we actually got dinner from there 1-2x a week. With the new menu combined with the prices, it's down to 3 stars. Things I still like about Unburger: fries are still the best ever, they now have nondairy softserve ice cream, and it's the only 100% vegan restaurant in the neighborhood so I feel obligated to support them. Things I do not like: Prices have increased DRAMATICALLY--nearly doubled. As recently as March, burger prices ranged from $8-16 depending on complexity/patty choice, they came with a side of chips and you could upgrade to fries for $1 extra. But now, burgers start at $13 and don't come with anything - you can add a very small side of fries ("handful" on the menu) for another $4. So if you want their most basic burger (no cheese and no toppings except ketchup and mustard basically) and fries, it's $17 minimum. The burger size is comparable to McDonalds now also whereas they used to be large steakhouse style burgers (which I would be fine paying more for honestly--but these new ones are just not enough food to justify the price tag in my opinion). Side sauces for dipping fries (etc) are also a whopping $1.50 for about 2 tbsp. Like, even a side of mayo to put on your burger. They also seem to have changed their ranch recipe... it used to be the best and now it's gross. They also no longer have avocado on their menu in any capacity. thus, no guac with the nachos, nor can it be added to burgers. I feel like during the whole "we are closed for renovations!" thing, the owner actually sold the restaurant, or had some outside investors who forced through all these changes. If something HAD to give in order for the restaurant to stay open, fine, I get it--that's why I will continue to get food here occasionally, to support Chef Chris. If the prices had increased but the menu remained the same, honestly I probably would still give it 5 stars, because I get that the cost of living is rising dramatically and I want the employees to earn a fair wage as well... But the new food is just not worth the new price in my opinion. read more

I'm upset I waited to try this place! MUST TRY!!! Don't wait! For my first visit I ordered the Mac burger on the ultimate patty with fries and a side of kale slaw. All the burger patties are made in house and I was not disappointed. Perfect flavor, perfect texture, perfect taste. Well worth the $4 upgrade for the burger patty. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I fly into Detroit to visit family in Toledo a couple times a year. I stopped here on whim last time I was in town because I was craving a vegan burger. It was a little out of the way but Oh. My. God. Is it worth it. I've eaten many vegan burgers in my life and none come close to this. I literally looked forward to coming here for months until I was in town again and planned my day around coming to get this burger. The patties are obviously made from scratch. You can actually taste the veggies inside and they are packed full with beans. Everything is perfectly seasoned and there's a perfect amount of cheese and toppings. Even the buns are delicious. Since my initial Uber Eats delivery I have actually made two separate trips to the restaurant. It's small, but comfortable and quaint nonetheless. Welp, where do I start! We have been meaning to visit this place for months now, but it is at least a 40 minute drive from us. But we finally got there 25 minutes before closing on a Saturday night. It was a party of 3, 2 pescatarians and 1 who may have been converted after trying this food! The service was friendly and fast! We ordered a lot of food and it came out quickly. We have been to our fair share of vegan restaurants, and they have the best nachos, chilli, and vegan burgers hands down! We were speechless and thoroughly impressed with absolutely EVERYTHING! Their music selection was very pleasant. I left that place with a new found appreciation for vegan food, and a little jealous of Dearborn that they have such a gem in their city. We took our cakes (Cookie Monster and Carrot cake) to-go, and my excitement wouldn't allow me to wait more than 20 minutes before trying! Both cakes were banging and on 10 (snuck a bite or 2 of my husband's carrot cake)! We talked about the goodness of that food for at least half of the ride back towards home. Unbelievably great food. In the top five best burgers I've ever had, probably even top three. Extensive menu where everything is so good makes it easy to find something you want. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff is so friendly and accommodating! The ONLY downside is that it's quite pricey. Everything is pricey these days, but this is even beyond the normal inflation craze. Honestly, it's so good and was such a positive experience I'm not even upset by it. We just won't be able to go very often du to the price. We will be back though as often as our wallets will allow. :) read more

I would love to give more stars but the price point of this place is way out of the park for, let's be honest, a fast food place. The food did taste great. They no longer have the chicken tender meal, instead have chicken nuggets. But $9 for 8 nuggets is astronomical, especially since it was for my toddler. And then the side of fries is extra. Total cost for two burgers, one side fries, one order chicken nuggets, just under $50. And that was before any tip. Sorry, but at that high cost this is why there are so many people claiming eating vegan is too expensive. Either lower the prices or include fries with the burgers. read more

So this is what replaced the old LA Bistro location, nice. I ordered the hot and spicy beyond sausage bun less and sweet BBQ on a bed of lettuce and trying the Daiya pepper jack cheese on my sweet potato burger, not been a huge fan of Daiya in the past but will give it another go. Another gf bun would have been a better option instead of the Uti bun which isn't my favorite and I try to avoid all gluten even if it's white wheat. Should be an interesting experience at least. It's a very chilled spot, quiet and only a few other customers here besides me, but it is after 12:30pm. A lot of great lakes chip options but no Jalapeño, settled on the buffalo wing chips. One order looks like it would have filled me up, guess I will be in a nice food coma later today. The hot and spicy down and the beyond sausage has the texture and bite of a real sausage, good stuff when I have to take a second to make sure I am in fact not eating real meat. The flavor bombs are so good I was already wishing I had waited or ordered 2 of the beyond sausages instead. The sweet potato patty is soft and mushy and not so appetizing, the cheese looks like it has turned into a mushy condiment, didn't retain the look or feel of cheese at all and does little for the sweet potato burger. I took one bite and I was done. I asked for another beyond sausage instead of the sweet potato burger and I they were nice enough to oblige. I will be back for the beyond sausage hot and spicy and would highly recommend it to all patrons to give it a try. I like the pico de gallo on the sausage, great pairing and adds to the heat from the sausage itself. Keep in mind prices are above average. Each sausage is about $10 and the cheese add on ass well as anything is extra. Still worth the cost. The beyond sausage separates from the sausage while cutting it, not sure what it's made of, looks sketchy. The friendly woman behind the counter show me the packing list for the beyond sausage. The casing is made from calcium alginate. I have no idea what that is. Wikipedia says it's a "gelatinous cream colored substance created through the addition of aqueous calcium chloride to aqueous sodium alginate." Yummyhow appetizing. read more
