I really enjoy this place. Simple good food. Very reasonable and by far my favorite real Mexican Restaurant in the greater GVL, Greer, Simpsonville area. I have eaten here more times than I can count because of the quality of food, the fast service, the friendly staff and the one overwhelming fact....THEY HAVE NOT AMERICANIZED their menu. Just moved into this Five Forks area and my eye caught this place one evening. It was so worth it!! The first reason for 5 stars is the horchata! It is amazing and the cup you get is huge in my opinion so great job. For the food, the burritos are spectacular. You get chips and a side of beans with cheese as a small appetizer-- it's wonderful! I'll admit I've only had the avocado burrito the 3 times I've been, but only because it's that good. My mom has had it smothered and likes it that way too. The size of the burrito could almost be split between 2 people or you could take half home for later if you want to spread out your calorie intake. We used to eat at Uncle Berto's EVERY week, but will NO longer eat there. The beef they are using now is inedible! Every bite of the so-called beef in their steak fajitas and bowls was either total gristle or all fat. Uncle Berto's NO longer serves quality food. read more

Best burritos around! The wife had a smothered ground beef burrito and I had a smothered barbacoa shredded beef burrito. Both were delicious and were loaded with meat. The cheese dip smother was great and we loved the lettuce, tomato & onions in it. They were so big we ate half for dinner and had the other half for lunch the next day. The only complaint is you don't get any rice with the refried beans and the bean portions are skimpy compared to the size of the burritos. But everything was tasty and delivery was prompt. read more

So first time here, decided to give it a try even though a co-worker said she didn't like it as much. (We both know our Mexican food) As a born and raised resident of Southern California, I pretty much know what real tacos should taste like. Came here, bought 8 carne Asada street tacos, cause hey what can I say, my husband and I love tacos. Anyway, service was nice, the girls upfront seem knowledgeable and were sweet. Just a tad bit unprofessional talking directly in the front of the register, about random stuff. (Word of advice from someone who worked at fast food and retail, whisper where your customers can't hear you) So service was decent, we got free chips and bean dip. Which were okay, but not amaaaazing. Now for the tacos, they look great and normal. Except for the fact the meat wasn't chopped small enough, so the pieces were pretty big and it was awkward to eat in the taco. Meat was super chewy, which was super disappointing cause the flavor was great, it's just the meat wasn't soft enough and small enough. Like I kept having to spit out pieces cause I was chewing pieces so much. Idk if it's because it was so close to the end of closing time that their meat was like that, but it gave me a crappy first impression. I was hoping my co-worker was wrong about this place, but she was absolutely right. I only came to the this place cause my usual cheap, California-like place was close for the day. Absolute worst service ever. Left one of our 3 kids without food for over 30 minutes then didn't even know what she ordered. Re-made the wrong thing. Had to wait again. Then wouldn't even let us use our free queso coupon either after the ridiculous wait. Other people walked out and cancelled orders while we were there too. Don't waste your time like we did. I used them for a baby shower for 65 people on 4/16. We picked up the food. They did an amazing job of packing it to be transported. Food was done on time and there was so much!! It was a huge hit and one thing everyone complimented on was the flavor of the beef and chicken. The abundance of food was overwhelming, I was worried we would run but once the food was there I knew there was no chance of it. They had some fantastic food here, I got the saltado tacos and chorizo and both were delicious and don't forget to wash it down with a horchata. Prices were very reasonable and the staff was really nice. They have a fully stocked salsa bar with all the fixins you would expect from a legit mexican restaurant. Uncle Berto's burritos has a wide selection of Mexican dish is not just burritos. I had the gordita I had the chili rellano, steak burrito and the breakfast burrito with Mexican eggs. Chili relano as good as was the burrito -the gordita was outstanding But the breakfast burrito was awesome! I wasn't expecting anything like the size that it was and the ingredients were fantastic. The food was delish... loved the fresh salsa! The portions are huge so bring your appetite! I ordered pollo fundidos which was served with a small salad & Mexican rice. I could only eat about half of what was on my plate, but it was good. They give you a small individual basket of chips and a cup of bean dip, which you can use to mix with some of their yummy salsas. I'm a long time Greenville resident who recently moved to Columbia for school (recent as in going into my fourth year). This has been my favorite spot for years! Lots of food for the price. I really appreciate how they do chicken, I've noticed that the steak can be hit or miss, but the chicken is always spot on. If you go, do yourself a favor and grab some horchata with your food. They're always friendly and they've been handing COVID fantastically (I'm high risk and still feel safe grabbing their takeout). I've been known by my friends to drive up to Greenville on a Friday to grab Bertos and have dinner with my family. It's something I look forward to when I come home! Their tacos are good. Their tortas are magisterial. The chorizo asada torta was sent from the heavens to grace my tastebuds with pure bliss. The perfect portions and ratio of meat, cheese, peppers, mayo, guac, onions, and tomatoes was like listening to a perfectly synchronized symphony. I've eaten many tortas where the bread was too thick or did not hold the absorption of the ingredients between the buns. This torta held up very well even though it was stuffed without the bread being too heavy or thick. Overall, it's a simple Mexican sub, but one that is worth consuming. I would also like to add their chips and tomatillo salsa are top tier. Definitely homemade and they are complimentary even with a to-go order.
