I have been recently eating breakfast at Mamie's Kitchen on a weekly basis for the last few months. I can honestly say, the food and service is always at a constant high level! As far as breakfast, (which is all I eat there) I have heard there lunch is excellent as well too. Upon entering, environment was clean and friends. Service was pretty standard. Nothing special. They seemed a little busy with a full drive thru and a few patrons eating inside. Order time to-go was about 12 minutes. The food looks great. But the taste is awful. There is no flavor in the biscuit meals. It was not seasoned properly or not enough. But it was a very bland flavor. The biscuits were buttered good. And the hashbrowns had flavor and cooked perfectly. But the eggs and chicken no real flavor. The turkey sausage same although it comes seasoned a little. I did not finish my meal as it was also cold. Overall the place is a 3star. I may patronize for other items in the future. Love this place!!!! Nothing fancy in the decor but the staff is down home and friendly. The food...well let's just say it is great! Authentic southern biscuits that are hand made and fresh out of the oven. The country ham is greeeeeeat! The real deal. We visited the Lithonia, GA location first as we were traveling east on I-20. We didn't stay because of the number of patrons lined up in the drive thru and inside. Fortunately, this location in Covington was not as busy. The staff in this location were moving customers along pretty quickly while still serving a very quality product. We will be back! read more

I used to eat at Mamie's often, but moved out of state to a land that doesn't understand grits or Southern biscuits! I had scrambled eggs and grits with a chicken biscuit. The breading on the chicken is so crispy and light. The eggs are fluffy and not scorched. They were having chicken and dumplings for lunch. If I hadn't had a previous engagement, I would have been back for lunch. Seating is limited, but at least you can go in and sit! Staff as friendly as always. Nothing else opened and was close to wear I was working. Found a new restaurant of Mamies so went in. First they post they use peanut oil but just with the fried chicken, which of course was what I wanted. The special was meatloaf... not my fav. But looked good and order it, corn bread, mashed and green beans. This is now a favorite when I am in Porterdale! Everything even the meatloaf was great.
