First time here and we'll be back! 10/10 across the board!! The food was delicious asf. Definitely some good ol Southern eats for sure. Fresh and hot when it hit our table. The decor was very southern as well. The bathroom was clean and pretty as well. Customer service was amazing. This place felt homey. I recommend to visit if you're in the area.

I must say the first thing hit me. When walked In The door. The customer service was second to none. I ordered beef pot roast, steam cabbage and Lima beans and side of cornbread. Pricing was pretty consistent with the food quantity The food was good and hot I would recommend if your in the Conyrrs downtown area to give it a try

First off, this is a cafeteria style restaurant, which I wasn't expecting. That's fine, and on me for not looking. Service was fast and friendly, Amy my total bill for pot pie, cornbread, peach cobbler, and a can of soda was just over $10. When I paid with a card, there was no field for a tip, so there is that. The pot pie was good, and a good sized portion. The cobbler was very sweet, but not overpowering. All in all, a lot of food in a clean environment for $10ish.

The food is INCREDIBLE!!! Southern comfort food at it's finest! Please please please try the peach cobbler!

Everyone was greeted quickly and staff worked to seat guests as quickly as they could. We had two classic chicken and waffles - one with tenders and one with wings - 4 of either and the peach cobbler chicken and waffle. We also had scrambled eggs, scrambled egg whites, and grits. The bone in chicken was delightfully crunchy but not overly so. It was just a little bit greasy but not overly so. Still I was glad it was served on a separate plate. The waffle was just big enough. I've had gigantic waffles that tasted awful and this wasn't that. No pulp in the OJ!!! The grits were reportedly just ok but I didn't try them. The tenders were equally crunchy and arrived hot. There's a sign that says they serve mimosas now.

Decent selection of food, but most of it at room temperature or close. I didn't dare eat the chicken when it was clear that it had been sitting there for a while at room temperature, will be shocked if I'm not sick tomorrow. Same with the cobbler. I tried the rolls and garlic bread - both so hard as to be completely unpalatable. Salad bar was probably the best part, but everything there was very low quality as well. Beyond that, the food is all very underseasoned and bland. And how do you make cheesecake bland? I mean, how is that possible? All the server had to do was give my a seat, some water and clean utensils, and I did get a seat - but the knife had a big blob of something green stuck to it. They brought me a new glass of water when the first when dry, but it had a funny/bitter flavor that wasn't there in the first one. Considering the fact that the knife wasn't clean, I would assume the same went for the glasses. Worst of all, I left a tip at the table (not required for a buffet, and certainly not earned as noted above); but when I declined to tip at checkout, they had the nerve to ask if I had tipped at the table - as if tipping was somehow required. And then argued with me when I made it clear that asking was inappropriate. Incredibly rude and a terrible way to treat customers. I should have made more of a scene, but I calmly made my point clear, no need for more drama. Will not be going back, and will suggest nobody else does either - if you want a reasonable buffet experience anyway. Edited to add: After writing this review, I decided to research to see if I was the only one that had a bad experience, and found a LOT. On Yelp, they have more one star reviews that two, three or four stars - making me think that many of the 5 star reviews are not legit. Just go to Yelp, and sort by newest first, to see that 3 of the last 5 reviews were one star - 4 of 6 if you include mine. Also, according to the AJC, this restaurant has had multiple failed health inspections in just the last five years: November 2025: Scored 59/U (Unsatisfactory). Violations included food not held at proper temperatures and cross-contamination issues. December 2021: Scored 52/U (Unsatisfactory). The restaurant failed its routine inspection after staff were observed failing to wash hands, alongside improper food storage and temperature violations. May 2021: Scored 37/U (Unsatisfactory) 37? 37?? That's not just a fail, that's a not even trying.

I got there just after they opened and glad I did because folks started pouring in. The restaurant isn't very big so you got to fit in when you can. The greeter sat me at the bar and Tee greeted me immediately after. She was so sweet! She recommended some kind of lemon drop and I took her up on her offer. I told her I like sweet drinks and she made it just like I like it. It was good but that drink was almost $20! I just about died when I saw my receipt. Next, she talked me into getting the "Statuh Sampluh" because it was half off and I get to try all the appetizers. I agreed. I loved the deviled eggs, shrimp, and egg rolls. The egg rolls definitely were my fav! For lunch, I had the "Stuff Flounduh" with added greens. The lunch was pretty dry. I think if they drizzled some type of sauce over it, it would enjoy it much better. They do have activities and I can imagine it gets pretty busy so you may want to come early or set a reservation.

I liked the name and the cuisine. Pretty good reviews, but if you've been on Yelp as long as I have, you know that standards vary greatly. And Virgils was no exception! Food was excellent! Deviled Eggs, Corn Bread, Sunday Plate, Grouper, and Seafood Platter. Undeniably Good. Service. Undeniably Bad! Muy malo! If you have to sit at the bar even when you have reservations. No bueno! If you have to flag someone down to get them to take your order. I am looking for an alternative option. If you charge a 20% service fee for services not rendered. Shame on you. "People will never forget how you made them feel". Well in a nutshell, not very valued. Having been in the restaurant industry of over 17 years, I have the perspective being on both sides, I would say service is the part severely lacking at Virgils.

Our server delivered great customer service throughout our dining experience but I didn't like that they automatically charge you 18% gratuity without properly communicating it. Then, I paid an extra tip without realizing the gratuity was already included. This was my 1st time dining here and I didn't know that, neither is it posted anywhere and our waitress didn't mention it either. I realized it when I asked for a printed receipt. It was only two people in my party so I didn't understand why the 18% gratuity was automatically charged. I didn't appreciate the deception. I also ordered a peach tea, smoked wings, onion rings, & the brisket platter. Listen, I don't know what they did to these cheese muffins, but they were heavenly. They pretty much melt in your mouth. The first one I ate without butter and it was good; for the second one, I slathered some butter on there and that made it even better. I probably ate half the basket by myself. For the smoked wings, instead of getting them drenched in sauce, I ordered all the sauces on the side. The wings had a slight crisp on the outside, which I love. It gives me the illusion that I'm eating a fried wing, but this way is much healthier. Lol. All of the sauces were solid. The honey habanero sauce was good, but really wasn't hot. The white sauce in Carolina mustard sauces were probably my favorite. I never pass up a chance to order hand breaded onion wings. It's rare to see those on the menu. These were done just right. The breading was crispy, light, & seasoned. They came with ketchup, but I dipped them in my barbecue sauces instead. These were much better than frozen onion rings with breading that's too thick. Unfortunately, I enjoyed my appetizers more than my brisket platter. I was underwhelmed by the brisket; it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. The greens were OK and I didn't eat the macaroni and cheese. The consistency was not what I was expecting. Our server was great. He gave good recommendations, was friendly, and even accommodated my friend's request to watch a specific game on the television near us.
