I found this place through a…read moreGoogle search and saw a lot of great reviews especially people talking about the pizza so we figured we'd stop in for a quick bite and try some local brews. Well... our "quick stop" definitely changed the rest of our plans. When we ordered, we were warned that the food might take "a while." Totally understandable it was Labor Day weekend and the place was busy. What we didn't expect was an hour and a half wait for our food. Seriously, it was well over an hour. Thankfully, the brewery itself is a nice place to hang out. We ordered a flight, sampled several local brews, and ended up ordering more drinks while we waited...and waited. The patio is relaxing and the views are beautiful, so at least we had a good place to kill some time. You could definitely feel the frustration building around us, though. Other guests were getting hungry and wondering where their food was too. From what we could see, the kitchen appeared to have only a couple of people working, so they may have simply been understaffed for the holiday crowd. After 1.5 hours, our 18-inch pepperoni and sausage pizza finally arrived. Unfortunately, after that kind of wait, I was expecting something amazing. It was pretty mid. The ingredients and flavor were decent, but the center was extremely soggy we actually had to eat parts of it with a fork. The fries, on the other hand, were hot and crispy. The biggest disappointment wasn't necessarily the pizza; it was losing 1.5 hours of our day waiting for it. We had other Apple Hill adventures planned, and that delay basically pushed everything else back. Great patio, beautiful setting, and we enjoyed trying the local brews. But based on this experience, I wouldn't come back for the food unless I could see that the kitchen was fully staffed and moving. Maybe we caught them on a bad Labor Day, but for this visit, it's a pass for me.

They have imported sake from Japan and locally produced varieties. The process is really interesting to learn about how they make the liquor with just rice and local water. Some varieties have more or less of the polished rice grain which impacts flavor through starch production and fermentation. Several of the samples I tried were too sweet for me. My favorite was the locally produced "Black and Gold" and I of course brought home a bottle. The environment is clean and modern. Tasting room is open on Friday afternoons and Saturdays.

The beer offering was good (about 8 different styles), especially for a small brewery. The beer quality was excellent, refined and presented correct flavors for each style. Was disappointed that they don't offer flights, but you can taste whatever they are serving. That said, the tasting glassware could used for a flight serving. To me a flight gives me the opportunity to try whatever I want without having to stand at the bar taking up space and the servers time. Food is limited to snacks/chips, but there is a Mexican market/restaurant next door that will deliver food to your table on the brewery patio. I realize they just opened, but I would suggest to the owners that they post their beer offering on their website, especially if they change up the selection.

Even though it's a brewery, we loved that it was still such a welcoming place for families. Our baby obviously couldn't do much yet, but there were lots of kiddos around, so very welcoming to families and littles. It made us feel comfortable bringing him along and celebrating his special day there. There was a food truck, plenty of turf space to sit and relax, and of course the cutest animals, including goats, a donkey, and a Highland cow named Wyatt! They even gave us some food to feed the animals, which made the experience extra special. It was such a relaxing day and honestly the perfect way to celebrate our baby's first birthday as a family.
