Terrible customer service. They charged us nearly $400, spent over an hour working on our car, and never once explained what they would be doing and that it would take so long. All the while we had an infant in the backseat and it was a hot summer day. The manager refused to talk to us, refused to give any type of compensation or discount for the horrible experience, and then threatened to keep our car if we didn't immediately pay and leave. 2017 Audi allroad. They drained my trans fluid by mistake. Thinking they had drained my engine oil they then added 5 quarts on top of my existing engine oil (double filled). Car wouldn't start, smoking like crazy. Complete nightmare. read more

She has conduct very good due diligence in the process, summarized to us what;s been good and what maybe need a change. Emily and her team respect us and show very professional taking care of us. The turnover of employees here has been crazy over the last few years. I've been coming here for 10 years and the last year or so the service has been terrible. They don't do anything on the checklist other than change the oil (it seems especially if you are a woman, I saw them do the checklist on male clients multiple times). Today I noticed they broke a cap during my oil change. Called multiple people over to look at what they broke and never addressed it with me. $100 for barely basic service with employees who do not want to be there. As multiple of them said. Avoid these oil change places. Granddaughter got her oil changed before heading home to Dayton. Car began to bog down and loose power. Had to get it towed. Oil filter not put on properly. Mechanic had to fix the issue and check to make sure no damage had been done to engine. Cost our granddaughter 400.00 including the tow. They said they would cover the cost. I've been coming to Uncle Ed's for years and have never had bad service until today. They advertise a "10 minute oil change" and while I understand that 15-20 minutes is more accurate, an hour is flat-out ridiculous. Today, I sat behind another vehicle for 25 minutes before they got to my vehicle. One of the employees came out to say that they have "kids" working for them and that it would be a "minute" before they could get to me. They only had 2/3 bays open. They finally ushered me in and began the oil change. They recommended the engine flush, but neglected to tell me that this would be an additional $78 on top of the oil change, which is ridiculously expensive, and that this would take an extra 10 minutes. 10 minutes turned into almost an hour in the bay, on a 90 degree day when I can't run the AC while they work. I was agitated and asked why I was still there, one of the employees stated he was so busy he was unable to eat, and another employee restated that they were training "kids." Why do you have "kids" working for you? Either way, customers don't appreciate the excuses. I have been using Uncle Ed's because of the consistenly good service and product, until today. Customers count on consistency, but today's visit fell completely short of that and I don't know if I'll be back. read more

when this establishment opened, it had well trained employees. Not anymore. I had the oil changed in my 2007 Mercedes recently. Two employees stopped the oil change and began arguing about something related to the filter. Something went wrong. My car began making a fan noise immediately after my visit. I opened the hood later and noticed that they had not reattached the air filter cover and that something else was wrong evidenced by a new noise that wasn't there before I arrived. I realized that I would have to take the car to get serviced because I made the mistake of using Uncle Ed's. Costly mistake. Avoid this oil change location. read more

This shop really takes care of it's customers. Sure they ask and recommend services they see are needed, but a simple no thank you was gladly accepted and the friendly and thorough service continued. My son had just bought an old 1997 beater of an SUV. We took it straight to Uncle Ed's for an oil change. These guys were on it, going above and beyond from the start. Super friendly, no pressure. Even the manager was on the floor, working and helping. Their communication with each other is great and they were as fast as they could be. Zachary noticed that the tail pipe was not connected and just hanging by a hanger under the truck. We asked him to pull it out and had a good laugh at the cause of the clunking noise. We really appreciate the service we had yesterday, with Zachary and the team at Uncle Ed's. I am taking the guys hot fresh cookies tomorrow as a thank you. I pulled into the bay and was initially very impressed by the speed and friendliness of everyone (plus they clean your windshield). They told me I needed new windshield wipers, I said "sure!" (They were $20 and I have no clue the last they were replaced). I had mentioned that I was moving and planning on making the 4hr drive to Cincinnati that evening with a load of boxes. A few moments later I was approached by an attendant that who asked the last time my brakes were replaced. I said "I think last year but could have been two years ago." He then informed me that my car was "unsafe to drive and dangerous." I don't pretend to know about brake or what they should look like he took a picture and said this is bad. He told me he could get a quote. He quoted me $500 for new from brake pads and rotors. I said I can't leave my car here right now, since I had a meeting in 30 mins. I then spent the next two hours trying to get quotes from places and getting my car in to get brake pads, before i made this drive to Cincinnati. Obviously, no one could do it in the window I was after. I did not drive my car with a load of boxes to Cincinnati that evening and instead stayed behind to get my car into a shop early the next morning. I took my car to Louie & John's Complete Auto Services (whom are the real deal), since their bread-and-butter are brake replacement. They were incredibly kind and got me in a hurry, after paying $90 inspection fee (which is totally fine and reasonable, and com s off your brake costs of appx $380 if replaced) they informed me that my brakes ARE TOTALLY FINE. I had 80% brake pad left in the front and 90% left in the rear. They don't even replace them with that little of wear. At then end of the day, Uncle Ed's Oil is a scam. Not only did they try to dupe me out of $500 they have cost me an unnecessary $90, and also have set me back in my moving timeline since I wasn't able to pile my car up with boxes and drive them to my new house!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Absolutely unbelievable that they think it's okay to tell people that will "likely get in an accident" for something that has hardly any wear! read more

One star for the damage they did to my vehicle during my oil change. Two stars because they made it right. I've been a customer of uncle Ed's for years. Until now. On my last visit, they took forever (much longer than 10 minutes...must be all the upcharging they're trying to do.) After my service I went home. Later that night I hopped on the freeway to drive north when all of a sudden I hear a large scraping sound. I was driving about 75 mph and knew I didn't hit anything because it was 11 pm at night and there wasn't any car in sight. I pulled over three times on the side of the freeway in the middle of the Night and finally figured out that my skid pad was improperly installed to the bottom of my vehicle and was now hanging by one bolt, crumpled due to it dragging underneath my car. I was stranded so I had to cancel my entire weekend plans, call for a tow, and wait two hours in the middle of the night to be rescued. For those of you who have this issue with Uncle Ed's, you know it's dangerous and causes damage to your car. I know I'm not the only one and rest assured no one from uncle Ed's will ever touch my car again. If this happens to you, don't go back to the store to complain. Instead, email their customer service email at the top of your receipt. Include photos of your car and your receipt to indicate when your service was conducted. I had someone from uncle Ed's contact me first thing in the morning to make arrangements to get my car fixed. He was incredibly apologetic and did what he could to make things right. He refunded my oil change. He paid to have my car fixed and offered to pay my tow bill (which in this case was nothing due to my insurance). He also gave me a coupon for a free oil change, which obviously I won't be using but was still a nice gesture. My car was taken to the dealership and the employees there commented on how cheaply and poorly my oil change was done. Whoever serviced my car only left one bolt on. All SEVEN other bolts were incorrectly applied. I'm glad I didn't damage my car further, or damage someone else's car or get hurt. The only reason why this is two stars instead of one was because you could tell they felt bad and tried to fix it. They were prompt with my phone calls and emails. If you want your oil change to be done well and quickly, don't go here. I recommend to the management to work on training their mechanics so they stop losing money on stuff like this. read more

First went to Uncle Ed's on Washtenaw Ave and waited in line while they completed work on other cars (no issue). After pulling in, the associate took all of my information and then told me that they did not have my oil filter and said come back next week after they get one from O'Reilly's. :( I then went to the other location Stadium and got right in. Service was excellent but was shocked when I got charged and extra $12 for oil and $15 for a special oil filter. The filter at O'Reilly's only cost $9. Total bill $130. Ouch. Dealership only charges oil, full inspection of vehicle & tire change for $90 to $100. read more

I've been going to this location for a decade now and have had nothing but great service. They've always been friendly, sometimes calling me by name as I pull in. As customer service goes, this place gets all A's from me. For those who mention upselling - that's what they're trained to do, sell services. Pro tip: just say, "all I need is an oil change today, no other services.". Works every time. I live in Pinckney now and still drive to Ann Arbor for my oil changes. read more

I absolutely hate going to get my oil change because of the pressure they put on getting the extra add-on's and (aka air filter changes, clean the engine, etc). This started as a 5 star review and I thought it was going to be a different & pleasant experience until the manager did exactly what makes it so u comfortable. He wouldn't stop pushing the air filter and engine cleaning, after I told him no at least 4x... Mgr: his song and dance about the engine cleaning and showing air filter Me: no, just the oil change Mgr: I could give you 20% off Me: no, maybe when I get my next paycheck Mgr: I understand. To be transparent, i've only had my oil change done here. However, each time i'm in - my service is very quick (the 10 minutes) and have always felt taken care of. Although I'm given a list of suggestions of items or services that would improve my vehicle - i'm never forced. What I don't like is the sticker they print off for your next oil change. It's always thousands of miles off from what my engine actually requires. I popped in yesterday and these guys put on my Winter wipers for free!!! read more

Don't go here unless you enjoy being taken advantage of. Worst possible service. Rude employees, broke the radiator hose connection as "part of our normal check" then claimed it was already broken. Showed dipstick and then attempted to claim "oil really dirty you must be past your oil change interval" )it's not dash indicator showed 10% left. Overcharged for oil change and took hours to attempt to facilitate a repair. Lots of other choices nearby. Updated: Rough experience noted above, but the manager got involved, did the right thing and took care of the issue and the customer. Resolved to satisfaction. Gave me my battery reading, cleaned off corrosion from terminals, showed me air filter and suggested when it should be checked again based on my mileage. Recently I was in for a quick oil change. Everything went fine but when I provided my card to pay, the technician suspiciously went to the back to print off two receipts and kept a copy for himself. On the receipts you can see the full card number and expiration date and him going to the back like that I'm sure he got the cvv code too. After giving me one of the receipts and keeping the other for himself he wandered off and another technician had to check me out. I've been going to this particular Uncle Ed's for many years and this has never happened to me before but after this incident I may start getting my oil changed elsewhere. Justin, the manager on Washtenaw Ave, is such a dope homie. He never up sells, but helps to educate me about my car. He helps me out when I am in a jam, teaches me without being condescending, and contributes to the overall customer experience by remembering small details about my own life, and the cars in the past. I have been a customer of 16 years, since I could drive, and I never go anywhere else. I appreciate the coupons and going the the extra mile in helping me to locate certain materials for my European car. Justine should be giving customer service classes due to his ability to make his customers feel heard and safe. Stopped by and was told by the attendant that they had to order a special filter for my car. The manager was nice and asked me to return the next day. I returned the following day and was informed that they had mistakenly used the filter they ordered for for another customer. He apologized and asked me to come back again the following day. I returned the following day and after waiting about an hour in line I was directed into the garage bay. I was then informed that the tech mistakenly removed the transmission plug instead of the oil plug and drained my transmission fluid. I am now stuck in the bay. I have no idea how I'm going to get home now. Maybe I'll just have to live here. read more

Wow. Justin, the manager took it upon himself to go way beyond the normal services offered at his store. After recently having the oil and power steering fluids changed on my daughter's car, the car was losing coolant due to a small leak. I called ahead and spoke to Justin who discussed the problem even though Uncle Ed's had not previously done coolant work on the car.
