I've been ordering from Uncle Ernie's from time to time. Unfortunately, this time will be the last. First things first, we ordered delivery and the delivery person was very nice and friendly. The issue was the order of spaghetti with meatballs. When we opened the order, the pasta was angel hair instead of the traditional spaghetti noodles. We called to let the establishment know of the error. So this is a communication issue and a customer service issue. If there is an issue with the order, give the customer a call to explain the situation (out of a specific noodle) and provide options (cancel the order, swap the entree with something else or offer a different pasta). None of those solutions were offered or considered. Secondly, I don't believe the customer is always right mentality but I do believe as a business that you have to do what's right and fair for the customer. When we called they simply said they ran out of the noodle but that it was the same pasta just a thinner version. So we asked since the order was not what we ordered, what solution could they provide and the person on the phone could not provide an answer. Customer service tip: if you don't have a solution then just say please hold or let me get your number and I can see what we can do to make it right. Then talk to a manager or owner or someone that can rectify the problem. Here's a few options: I'm sorry for the error in the order. While we can't offer anything now, please know that your business means a lot to us. Your next order will be prepared to the highest standards that we hold ourselves to in the community. What I do care about is that we weren't notified that the order was wrong because the restaurant didn't have the ingredients to complete the entree we specifically ordered. I care about how the restaurant didn't know how to resolve a simple error to ensure continued support being a customer. We thought about dinner. We thought about your establishment. Absolutely terrible experience at Ernie's Pizza. The pasta came out overcooked and mushy. I took it back, they remade it, and somehow the second one was just as overcooked as the first. I gave them another chance and ended up wasting my time driving back again and forth for food that should've been made correctly the first time. At that point I asked to switch it for a pizza instead, and instead of trying to make things right after ruining my order twice, they still charged me the extra $3 difference for the pizza. Seriously? After all that inconvenience, they couldn't even waive three dollars as a basic gesture of customer service. It's not about the extra $3. I drive around this area once in a while and today I decided to try a new spot that was recommended for their pizza and subs. This place is a small family restaurant that's been around since the 80s, and you can feel the history the moment you walk in. The guy at the counter was awesome, super enthusiastic and really helpful. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and a small pastrami sandwich. The pizza came out piping hot, big slice with a nice amount of cheese and a good crunch to the crust. The pepperoni curls up on the edges and had that perfect crisp. Nothing fancy, just a good slice of pizza that hit the spot! The pastrami sub had a good portion on the meat. The pastrami itself was lean, cut thick, and had good flavor. The bread was fresh, but really thick. I actually tore off part of the bun because it was overpowering the meat, even though the sandwich had a generous portion. A few more pickles and maybe a toasted bun would have balanced it out better. Still, a good sandwich overall. I left pretty full. The food was good. So, decided to try this place for the first time, and the 5 stars are strictly for the employee. Dealing with Tony was a PLEASURE!!! Nice guy, patient with all my goofy questions, and he whipped it up FAST!! As far as the pizza itself, I was NOT very impressed! Greasy, salty and low quality cheese. I'm kind of a "pizza snob" so take it with a grain of salt, but I doubt "Ernie" has EVER been to New York! I'll stick with my Chi~Chi's that has been my FAV since 1976. Well I'm not sure what's happened but this used to be the best pizza joint in the valley hands down, hasn't ordered food from them in maybe 10-15 years or around when my first review for this place was so I decided to order from them tonight and what I received as far as a cheese pizza and a pastrami sandwich could only be described as what you would get from the frozen food section. The bread for the sandwich wasn't fresh at all, the pastrami was very dry. Overall a bad experience, into the pizza. Let's just put it this way, I've had better tasting pizzas from Di Giorno's frozen pizza. Lessons learned here. Won't be coming back. I stopped by this small business on my way to work to check it out, it looked pretty good from the menu and the pricing wasn't too bad either. The staff taking my order was very friendly, which I truly appreciated. Let me talk about the good part about the restaurant, the garlic bread was huge and very flavorful which paired well with my Alfredo. Now the unfortunate part, I ordered an Alfredo pasta and I don't know what it was but it very much lacked flavor. the pasta was just creamy and lacked lots of flavor. Another great experience! We had a credit on file from a mishap from before, but the manager who just got back from vacation, took care of that with no problem. I forgot the gentleman's name, but he is extremely helpful as the manager. But this time I want to give a shout out to Anthony/"Tony". I come in and he knows my order by heart because of the way my wife likes the calzone with a mixture of the Alfredo and marinara sauce. I am so extremely happy that they have employees like Anthony here. He goes above and beyond to help me out and being a C7 quadriplegic, I am greatly appreciate of everything. Do not come here , since they sold and under new owners it has gone down hill dramatically, they are always out of something, food quality is extremely inconsistent, and don't get me started on management. They made me a wrong pizza and stood that they would only refund a $1.50 for missing pepperoni and the manager kept arguing that he wouldn't refund my pizza, none the less the $5 delivery and so on, after being a loyal customer for 20+ years I will never be back and i encourage you to find a different place as well. My family and friends, along with most discerning diners in the Chatsworth area have been patronizing and enjoying Uncle Ernie's for decades. They were hands-down, without a doubt, the BEST pizzeria in the Valley. We know that Steve passed away a few years ago, but we remained hopeful that the unsurpassed tradition of excellent food and service would be continued and honored by the new owners. Sadly, fellow Yelpers, those days are over! Quality has taken a nosedive since Steve moved on. The food is bad, the service is worse, and the chances of a return to form are nonexistent as long as the current owners remain in charge. Last night, 1/1/26, represented our last time going there. My wife and I stood by while no fewer than FIVE employees milled about doing nothing at all, never once acknowledging us. Meanwhile, some jerk was on the phone with a customer for way too long. It's curious how that happened, since I called THREE times and only got to speak to an AI bot. When the guy got off the phone, he never came around the corner to see if anyone else wanted to order. Disgusted, I tossed the menu on the dirty floor and we split. Uncle Ernie's used to be the crown jewel of Valley pizza. Now, it's a dirt clod. Avoid this place like the Bubonic plague, folks. Show these charlatans that they had no business buying Uncle Ernie's, and have no business running it unless they honor and uphold what came before. Shame on this scum bags for perpetrating such a sham on good, honest, loyal customers that kept a deserving business open for over 40 years. But man it's been about a couple times I call 20-30 mins ahead and I get there and my food is still not ready and it ends up being ready with only 10-5 minutes left on my lunch. What kind of pizza place doesn't answer their phone on a weeknight at 6 pm? I hope everything is ok, but it seems like it isn't. I made two attempts to place an order by phone. I have ordered this way at least monthly for 12 years, and the person answering the phone has already known my order just by matching my order history to my Caller ID. But today I got a bot asking me do I want to place my order online or do I want to be transferred to the restaurant to place my order. I say restaurant. The bot transfers the call. The phone rings four or five times then is answered by a machine that says there is no one to take your call. Then the machine hangs up. I will not order online from a restaurant that can't be reached by phone. I hope they're still in business and this is just a one-off. Update: I drove by just to see if they're still in business. They are. Maybe someone called in sick, or maybe they're cutting costs and decided phone orders aren't worth it. read more

There is a real problem with the new owner. I have eaten at Uncle Ernie's on and off for over 20 years. Tried it today for the first time in a while. First off, when I called to place the order I had to speak with an AI bot. Very off putting. Too busy to take phone orders? The AI bot read my order back to me. Everything was correct. When I got there to pick up, they said the AI bot didnt list what size sandwiches we ordered. I also ordered spaghetti with marinara. I received meat sauce. Lastly, I asked for breadsticks with my pasta. I was charged for an additional order of breadsticks. I didnt want two orders. I wanted the sticks that come with my meal. They request that you specify either garlic bread or sticks when ordering. So the AI bot screwed everything up. All of this was found out after leaving, so I was stuck. Lunch break, not going back to get it all figured out. The food used to be way tastier. The spaghetti sauce tastes like it came out of a jar, the breadsticks were undercooked and the serving size of the spaghetti was half of what it used to be. The new owner doesn't care about this place. He bought a name and expected all the old patrons to continue coming. Wrong! read more
