Tried the Kids Catfish Meal from here and it was so good! If you are a fan of Catfish I recommend you try their catfish here. It's seasoned really well! The bread is just white bread so there is nothing special about it. The fries were good and had a little seasoning. The catfish was the star of the show though! It came with a fruit juice and they gave me grape juice. I wish I asked them for a different flavor because I was not a fan of the juice flavor I got. I've already come to Best Damn Chicken twice and I can say without hesitation I will be back many many times. I had never had, let alone heard of 'Chicago style' chicken prior to visiting here. It's a fantastically flavorful, yet light breading. It has all the crunch you'd expect from fried chicken, but because it's so light, it's also not super oily. It almost feels like a 'healthy' fried chicken. I opted to get the sauce on the side so I could really experience the breading and I'm glad I did. I feel like the subtle seasonings would've gotten lost in their bold, flavorful sauce. The coleslaw that comes with the combo is very KFC-esque. It's up to your personal taste on if that's a good or bad thing (it's good in my opinion). Everything is incredibly fresh. You can tell all the chicken is made to order. It's piping hot when it comes out to the point where you really need to slow down just so you don't burn your mouth. Every time I've ordered, the food has been delivered by the chef as well which has added such a personal touch to the whole experience. I love it. The real star to me, however, is the banana pudding. I'm not going to lie. I'm not a huge banana pudding fan. But I have raved about it constantly since trying it the first time. They were a little backed up so the food took a little longer to come out, but I think it was well worth it. We got the fried catfish and chicken wings. I typically use fried fish as my barometer for how good a place is, and they did not disappoint! I guess because it's a hot chicken style, it came with options of hot sauces rather than tartar sauce, and on a bed of a slice of bread, but I didn't mind. Fried catfish was the best thing we ordered, but came with packaged tartar sauce, like the one you get from the elementary school cafeteria. Coleslaw was very wet, and tasted like bagged coleslaw you could get from smart & final for the company picnic. Fries were whatever. Chicken, meh... Not very much lemon pepper seasoning so if you don't want sauce ask for extra lemon pepper. I would have liked the chicken to be much more crispy and have more crunch but was a little let down on that part. The mild hot sauce tasted like ketchup with a dab of some kind of chili sauce, I can't quite put my finger on it. The biggest turn off was the slice of wonderbread that came with the meal. Honestly not even worth including it at all. And to charge $1.15 for an extra slice is diabolical. Service was generally good. Employee was nice and prompt when I arrived. Food was finished earlier than the estimated time but was also just warm by the time I got it home. Banana pudding was okay. Honestly tastes like banana jello pudding with Nilla wafers in it.
