I usually grab a dozen and staff typically will throw in a complementary donut. They got new boxes but don't let that fool you from iconic pink box donuts. Small mom and pop donut shop. The people who work here are generally very friendly. The lost is small and difficult to maneuver in, but usually has spaces available. This is a local joint with regular customers and some are often at the few tables they have. Have not seen homeless people camping at their tables. Don't think the owners/employees would allow this here. Donut selection is comparable to other local shops with standard selections. Filled donuts are prefilled and not filled to order as at done other places. Consequently, they may be a little soggy or filling seeped in. The amount of filling is usually about average. Their apple fritters are better than many other places but not as good as Winchell's. Other donut quality is average to above average. Prices are reasonable and comparable to similar places. Uncle Joe's has been a 626 donut legend from way back in the day. They have the best donuts, hands down. Always fresh and delicious. They have all your classic donuts + more, smoothies, Lottery, beverages and more. They always keep it clean in there and provide friendly service. They are a cash only place but also have an ATM inside. There's parking in the lot out in front or on the street, no bathroom available though I think. Prices have went up unfortunately in this economy but depending on your selection of donuts, it can run you anywhere between $16-25 for a dozen. I don't mind dropping $25 on my favorites. They are very close to the quality of Randy's at one third the price. Randy's does get a fair amount of my business. My Uncle Joe's favorite is the Apple fritter, it's nice, thin and crunchy. Great little mom and pop shop that's open later than normal donut shops! My boyfriend was sick and craving donuts so I wanted to bring him some but all the donut places near me closed early to mid afternoon. Went on a hunt for the best croissants in SGV. Tried uncle Joe's and I was disappointed to say the least. I still haven't found a legit donut shop that makes the freshest, fluffiest, the right amount of cheese and ham croissant! Ugh I've tried many shop and thus far only USA donuts in walnut has the best one. I don't consider myself as a picky eater nor a food expert, but don't you want to satisfy your customer where they'll keep coming back for more? I just think using old ham and putting limited cheese is not the way to win over your customers. The croissants were 90% bread, 8% ham and 2% cheese! And you have to eat half of your bread in order to get to the ham not even the cheese because there was barely any!
