An impressive menu of local draft beers to order and then be told they are out of. Trolly company gave me a coupon for 2 slices and a beer here. Uncle Joe or his nephew tells me it's an ad, not a coupon and their prices have changed since the Trolly last printed the coupon book which it sounds like Uncle Joe wants no part of. My family and I went to eat at Uncle's Joe's on G street yesterday!! It was unfortunately awful, which is extremely sad since the one on Old Seward is amazing !! First off I believe the guy taking orders at the register was on some form of drugs. It took him multiple times to get the order correct!!! Because he was doing his job and nothing special and he took a hot minute I didn't feel he deserved a tip. He asked me if I wanted a copy of my receipt and I replied yes!! He then proceeded to look at it and noticed I didn't tip him and he responded why do you need a copy ? You didn't tip me!! I was floored he said that , that I had no words.. Found this little spot while souvenir shopping and decided to grab a slice to hold us over till dinner. There's lots of construction outside so the entire road is blocked off except for the sidewalk. The lady who worked here (apologies I didn't get her name) was super nice friendly with a loud and fun personality. Each slice is $4.75, which isn't a bad price depending on how big the slice is. The cheese pizza was a lot bigger than the veggie slice, so I think just make sure that it's all the same size. The crust however was very hard and difficult to eat. It's alright for a quick bite, but it's not amazing in my opinion. read more

Took about 15 minutes to get through a full order, as he would grab things one by one as we ordered, and we ordered the slices right at the counter. We also ordered wings and were told it would be a 35 minute wait, we are 56 minutes into our wait and I cannot review the wings as I still have not received them. Pizza was mildly warm and was only decent because it was the first thing I'd eaten in 12 hours. We went back to Joe's on a date. The pizza crew is really great here. They were totally slammed with take out orders but the chef was still singing happily while spinning dough, the staff was still very polite and they made the experience great. All this was despite some craziness from a customer who acted out of sorts. Everyone remained calm and handled the situation. I was impressed with the professionalism. Unfortunately I still can't give these guys 5 stars. I am convinced they freeze their toppings. The most flavorful thing on the pizza was the ham and fresh tomatoes. The onion has zero flavor and neither do the peppers. I know produce is tough here in Alaska, but fresh seriously does make the flavors stand out. It's worth trying. They have other options like calzones, lasagna, and their wings are still good. I think I'll have to come to terms that this isn't a place we would order pizza from again though. Unfortunately Uncle Joe's has always had issues with their delivery so we always eat in. Which during COVID dining out requires me twisting my husband's arm. But I pleaded and got my way and made sure we disinfected the table before we ate (since Uncle Joe's is Self seating, I wasnt confident the table would be germ free. The staff was masked, etc though and seating is very limited.) But for me, eating in at Uncle Joe's is half the joy of the experience for me personally. It really is very much like being back in Philly or Jerz, its wild. ON POINT. And two slices and a beer (or a slice and a salad) and a beer for under $10 bucks in Alaska is AWESOME. I got this insane pizza that had many cheeses, maybe some feta and IDK what else, and the sauce, my god the sauce... the crust was so flavorful and perfect. I could barely finish the one slice I hardly touched my huge salad because the single slice filled me up. My husband got two slices of meat pizza which he ended up regretting because he didnt realize how loaded with meat they would be and how filling they are. This place was wonderful and very "comfortable." All of the servers were jovial, and the open kitchen format is nice because we got to talk to some of the chefs in the back! The people working here were super kind and my friend and I had a fun experience even just waiting for our takeout pizza.
