REAL CALZONES if you know what I'm talking about you have to visit!!!!!! I stumbled upon this place after asking my chat where I could get something good for a good price and this place came up. when I came in I originally ordered pizza by the slice (great by the way) and realized this is a family run business and the family are real Italians! so I looked closer at the menu and they sell calzones REAL CALZONES!!!!!! So close to fabulous! The pizza was incredible but just came out warm, not hot. Maybe when we go back we'll have to request this. Also, I hope the owners can look into making a fabulous vegan pizza. There's some incredible vegan cashew cheeses, for example, that could be made. We would come a lot more if that were an option. Modern animal industries--the meat, dairy, egg and fishing industries destroy nature and cause horrific suffering and environmental destruction. Hidden Gem, Arguably best pizzas in Anchorage. Very caring staff and appears family run. The owner is attentive on service and quality, he ensures no one is waiting. cares for every customer who walks in. Crust is flavorful and pizza is good ingredients are fresh and cooked to perfection. Nearby pizza joints have forgotten customer service have the audacity to say 1.5 hr waits for even takeout. They are gimmicky at best But these guys at Sav work hard to keep it under 20min. That matters to families! Saverios knows delicious pizza and great service quality. Margarita was exceptional. Came here for a bite and left eating a feast. The portions are huge but worth every bite. From the tasty garlic knots to the all meat lovers pizza, this place didn't disappoint. If you care about pizza itself more than a place with fun and upbeat vibes, come here. They literally put their back into it. Chef's kiss! Delicious pizza and by far, one the few with high rankings for me. I would have loved to have tried their ranch dressing but at $1.00 for a ranch cup, I found it to be a lil' steep. My family and I ordered in to our hotel from this place based on a couple of reviews. It did not disappoint. The pizza was so good (we got the veggie and plain cheese ones) and so big and the garlic knots were very tasty too. The Mediterranean salad could've used some more veggies, but it was good too. Had my sister and her friend over for dinner last night and thought we'd try Saverio's Pizzeria. We were all happy I did. Really, really good pizza. Outstanding crust. I also got three of their cannolis, and they were fantabulous as well. I really enjoyed the hint of lemon. Service was great. Ordered the pizza to go and it was ready 10 minutes before they said it would be. It's got a real nice laid-back atmosphere. They also offer pizza al taglio which is Italian speak for pizza by the slice. Next time I go, which will be soon, I'm going to try one of their calzones. I got a large, three topping pizza with three of their delightful cannellonis for under 50 bucks. This was more than enough for all of us to stuff ourselves to the point of bursting with a couple of big slices left over for today. If you're thinking, pizza, give these guys a shot. They were not kidding when they said the pizza was amazing! Such a great change from eating at any of the "Tooth" establishments. We ordered the Pizza Bianca I think and it was so tasty! The crust was delicious and all the ingredients seemed fresh. The service wasn't bad. Definitely family owned and ran. Seems to be very nice folks and they pay attention if you need service. The ambiance of the restaurant was very casual. Most people were coming in to pick up pizza to go so even if it was busy. We never had a hard time finding a table to sit at the couple of times I had been here. I've definitely been recommending this place to friends who haven't tried it! read more

We ordered pizzas for delivery from Saverio's and were excited to try them for the first time. Unfortunately, the restaurant or driver must have dropped the pizza or placed it incorrectly in their car. When we opened the box, the pizza toppings had slid to one side, and some were completely off and bunched together in the corner. This is surprisingly good when you pay $35+ for 1 pizza. Went in and waited 30 minutes for our order. I went to the counter to check on the 2 slices we ordered and was told they forgot to put them in. Waited another 10 minutes for pizza that was just ok. If you want authentic and delicious Italian style, this is my number one spot and place I highly recommend. Most hours of the day they have a large variety of different pizza's to choose your one or two slices from. My favorite is their BBQ chicken pizza! *drools* It has a colorful toppings in the form of onions, different colored bell peppers and this sweet BBQ sauce. If you like savory BBQ or savory in general, this is not the piece of pizza for you. This restaurant is family owned. It's an order and sit down style business. They're typically busy, but not so overwhelming, so definitely try their pizza's earlier in the afternoon so that you receive the pick of your choice. They usually sell out of certain pizza slices by the end of the afternoon. Make sure to check their hours because they are closed on either Mondays or Sundays. read more

I've been coming here for almost a year, at least once a week. I always order different things but I never leave without getting an italiano sandwich. The bread that they use is so light, fluffy and flavorful, it taste amazing fresh or the next day. Every time I stop by the service is always amazing and everyone is so sweet and helpful. The ambiance feels so cozy and welcoming. I took my mom here yesterday (she's only ever tried the pizzas) and I told her that she has to try the Italiano sandwich. She tried it the next day and was blown away and now she understands why I come once a week for this sandwich. It's been a long time since I've had a sandwich that feels nostalgic but also doesn't feel heavy or get soggy fast. First time visiting Saverio's Pizzeria ( I'm not a big fan of pizza) however, i offered to take the other half out for lunch, and he actually would live on pizza if he could, so he chose Saverio's. It was super busy. The lunch time rush, i guess. Decor was distinctly Italian vibe - and opera music to go along with it. There was a selection of pizza by the slice on display, and a menu, offering other options of salads and pastas. I opted for Mannicotti, which apparently came with garlic bread too. Our order took ages, to the point that husband went back to the counter thinking they'd forgotten us. They had not, they were working on it. We had just hit on lunch hour rush. Napkins aren't provided, but there's a wave-your-hand-underneath paper towel dispenser, over by the water urn, and knives and forks, Parmesan shaker, red pepper flakes. My manicotti was brought out, piping hot, and his 2 slices of pizza (he got meat lovers, and a spinach, and garlic thin crust one) I had to wait for the manicotti to cool somewhat before i could take a bite. The filling was cheese. With cheese on top and a marinara sauce. I'd hoped there'd be meat, but serves me right for not checking. I should have gotten Cannelloni or lasagne. I was not especially enthusiastic about it, other than the pasta was well cooked. The marinara tasted fresh and home made too, but it was just a very one note dish to me. The garlic bread - really not my thing at all. I love garlic bread, but i like it made with a fresh French baguette, fresh chopped garlic, butter, olive oil, and some herbs - maybe a sprinkle of chopped basil (how i make it) These were like triangular shaped scones, not at all bready, and lacking in garlic. I ate one, with marinara on them to liven them up. I wouldn't get manicotti again. Husband really enjoyed his meat lover's slice, and wolfed it down. I had taken a bite of the spinach garlic slice, and there was a humongous amount of freshly chopped garlic on it. Don't get me wrong I LOVE garlic, there was also something spicy on there, and i enjoyed my bite, but unfortunately as i get older, my stomach is getting more and more rebellious with the amount of garlic my mouth likes to consume. I'd have loved another couple of bites, however, i could see areas of this slice, that were liberally coated with garlic, so i stayed away from those parts, and chose another bite from an area with a lesser amount of garlic. I liked that slice but couldn't have eaten it all due to my gastric issues. He took one bite and said it was inedible. I'm sure there are items on the menu that i would have liked, but i wasn't keen on my manicotti today. First ever order and of course we ate it so fast I forgot to take pictures. The Mediterranean salad was fabulous. Baby spinach, spring mix, tomatoes, feta, red onion, Kalamata olives. So good! The calzones were slap full of cheesy goodness. Best marinara we've had in a long time. The italiano sandwich should probably have songs written about it--focaccia for the crust, tons of fillings, absolutely delicious. We got our food via DoorDash. Nice hefty portions and everything was fresh and fantastic. This is definitely our new go to takeout place!!! read more

Since my review I have had a chance to stop by and experience their pizza in person. It's great, they seem to always be busy, so there is a bit of a wait but not bad at all. The staff is super friendly, and they have a variety of slices available if you don't want to commit to a whole pie. They have just enough tables that it doesn't feel packed but you can usually find a seat. read more

2.5 stars. Ordered a veggie pie for delivery. I chose this restaurant because of the great yelp reviews. I created my own and opted for basic sauce, mozzarella, onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Delivery was on time and the pizza was still warm upon arrival. The real issue was in the execution-to say the pizza was soggy is a dramatic understatement. I mean, 8-10 sopping wet paper towels soggy. While the pizza itself tasted ok and the ingredients seemed of decent quality, the preparation was all wrong. Vegetables retain moisture. Mushrooms, onion, and peppers have an especially high water content. Consequently, they need to be pre-sautéed to remove some of the water content and the oven needs to be pre-heated to 500+ degrees. Two simple strategies would have resulted in a much better experience. Instead, I paid $40+ for a bland, wet, nearly inedible dinner. read more

This is real New York pizza. You can buy it by the slice or by the pie. There are multiple varieties by the slice. Their calzones are incredible. There cannolis (italian dessert) are the best. I visited family in New York City and ordered cannolis from a top rated Italian bakery. Saverio's cannolis are better!! The owner is very friendly. He is there cooking every time I go in. Everyone I have introduced to Saverio's loves it. My self described "foodie friend" who lives out of state wants to go there with me whenever he is in town. read more

If you want a genuine New York-style pizza like you get here at those hole in the wall pizzeria's, this is the place to go! It's got a nice crunch to it, not overly salty or greasy, and not a tomato sauce that's overpowering with oregano. Had a nice Caesar salad with crunchy romaine lettuce, a slightly tart dressing, and homemade croutons in it for a starter and a cannoli for dessert that had a nice crunch and filling not overly sweet. Everything in this place is prepared with love! Only complaint is it's a little crowded and small, but that's it! I recommend this place most highly in Anchorage with Muldoon Pizza and honorable mention. read more

We went for a late lunch/ early dinner and service was fast and friendly as usual and the food was just AH-MAZING! By far the best pizza in Anchorage, as close to NY pizza as you can get (I was born and raised in NY so trust me)! The man is a pizza genius, an artist working in dough, sauce, and cheese. This place is awesome! Good pizza and good service! The atmosphere was very casual and quaint. The staff was very accommodating and so nice! We promptly got our food and we throughly enjoyed it! I liked that they had the option of pizza by the slice. It was also nice to see a good deed of the day...I saw a man come in who looked like he was down on his luck and could only afford one slice of cheese pizza. A guy came out of the back who I assumed was the owner or manager to offer him something to drink and that it would be on him.
