If you're going to order a Philly, double meat and double cheese was worth every calorie. Milanos web site says they cook and prepare the steak fresh each day and it's obvious. It was magnificent. It was juicy and so flavorful without being greasy at all. The bread was fresh and pillowy inside, firm and a little bit crunchy on the outside so it didn't fall apart even when I ripped it in half like a savage. It stayed together throughout consumption and with the amount of filling was perfect to share even though you won't want to. The pizza was delicious and had a great balance of sauce and toppings. No pic, it disappeared immediately. This also tasted fresh and is one of the better pizzas I've had in a long time. Nothing tasted highly processed like you get with chains. This was delivered via DoorDash and was on the way in about 20 minutes. It arrived so hot it was hard to be calm and not burn my face off in haste. When I looked at the bottom of my slice is was covered in tiny crosshatches which tells me this was a prefab, store bought & not home made crust. Seems like there is allot of cost cutting going on. Hands-down, this is the best Philadelphia cheesesteak there is in Anchorage, very authentic and I like it a lot. However we ordered 2 orders of Galic bread because my kids always go through it super fast and it was not good. There was not a lot of garlic taste but the worst part was it being wrapped in tinfoil. I decided to swing by here on a lunch break last week after finding a take-out menu tucked away in a desk drawer at my office. Milano's Pizza is a long-time take out place that is located in a tiny strip mall behind 907 Wingman and next to Dipper Donuts. I distinctly remember these guys at their old location across from Franz's Bakery on Spenard years ago before settling on their current location. I placed an order to go for a Chicken Parmesan Sub on the phone and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. That was perfect since I placed the call about 10 minutes before my scheduled lunch at noon. Working just down the road made it even more convenient by just a few minutes. By the time I got there, the sub was already bagged and ready to go with no waiting at the front. I quickly returned to the office and settled down to eat. The Chicken Parmesan was delicious with lots of melted mozzarella cheese and a side of hot crispy fries, a few resting on the cheese itself. The marinara sauce was excellent with a thick consistency and a significant amount of garlic blended in. The pizzas are also good here, despite the wide variety of places competing with them in the midtown area. However, they have had a loyal customer base over the years that keeps this place going strong today. The Greek Pizza (garlic butter, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, feta cheese, fresh tomatoes, and extra mozzarella) as well as the Gyro Pizza (beef, lamb, garlic butter, fresh tomatoes, mushrooms and onions topped with cucumber sauce) are menu items not to be missed out on when ordering for take-out or delivery. Staff are always extremely friendly and usually deliver well before the quoted time. The Chef's Mistake pizza is a solid choice that everyone enjoys each time we order it, and I feel like they take care to ensure it is made well. My personal favorite is the Greek salad. Since I'm a picky eater, I do request substitutions on my salad, and they are very accommodating and prepare it perfectly. The house dressing that comes with it tastes freshly made each time, and I might have become slightly addicted to it. I've had nothing but great experiences with Milano's. I have picked up takeout dinner from Milanos three times in the last month. Every time I go to pick up my order, they are extremely busy. There's a reason for this, they are an excellent eatery. Repeat business says more about a place than anything else does. The chicken Caesar salad that they have is the best one that I have had as far back as I can remember. I mean, the chicken is plentiful, the Romain lettuce always fresh and crisp and the dressing, don't even get me started on the dressing I could go on and on. Suffice to say, it is excellent. I'm a huge fan of a good calzone and they knock that out of the park as well. The prices are reasonable and the customer service from the phone call to the handing over of the food is always great. It's not easy giving good customer service in an extremely busy environment but they pull it off. This place, in my book, it's a five star joint read more
