I put a bunch of spicy salsa in it... that helped. Just isn't interesting or impressive. Crunchy ground beef tacos were fine. Meat was well seasoned. Juicy. Great texture. LOVE uncle Julio's in Dallas. The oak lawn location & the location near DFW is my fav two locations. However, I think that the dining room here is more beautiful. It kinda looks like a Pirate ship! lol The menu is basically the same, nachos & margaritas I had were pretty much the same as the Dallas locations I been to. The service was also decent at this location. What I didn't like about this location is it's way out in BFE & they DO NOT HAVE A "happy hour" at this location! We had a party of 30 and the team gave us a choice between s private room or tables aligned in rows of 10 by each other. We opted for the tables because it was immediate seating. 2 years after our last terrible visit, we tried again. Service was a little faster now but I had to send my cheese and onion enchiladas back (I can't remember the last time I sent food back, it's so embarrassing). I had to use a knife to attempt to cut the enchiladas. They were super hard. Second time was better but not delicious by any means. We won't try again for sure. First, our waiter didn't take good care of us, he would disappear for more than 15 min and wouldn't follow up. The food took forever. We ordered a grapefruit margarita, a beer, enchiladas and a chicken tortilla bowl. My margarita was really good! The food was OK...nothing memorable. The place looks very trendy, which I like, but the food and service is mediocre...if you are going to pay a little more than most Mexican places you would expect a memorable experience. Mariah D knocked was the bomb server! I arrived for a coworker get together and was blessed to have her as our table server. She allowed us to chat and kept the chill pace for our meal. No drinks were empty and she had my Miller Lite on refill! The white cheese dip that a coworker ordered was super delicious. The chips were warm and the salsa was tasty. I just am not a fan. This is my third time to come and the third time my stomach hurt afterwards. I love their patio. It is awesome. The food, especially for the price, lacks so much...flavor, portion, quality, etc. I have no idea why the price is what it is. With tax my meal alone was around $26. I left hungry. Something is wrong with that. I had to remove many things from my entree due to allergies/sensitivities, and the price stayed the same even though I had to remove half of what came with it. Which I understand, but can we at least sub out so I still get a complete meal? What was nice was the manager took the time break down what I could eat from the menu, but then I now question if it really was since my stomach hurt afterwards. My waiter was no help and told me some things did not have dairy and soy, but when I went to double check with the manager, I found out they did. The floor was so sticky. That is just gross and we came first thing when they opened so it is not as if another customer spilled something. It was just not mopped. Visiting OKC I was told to check this place out. We were sat quickly. Took a good 10 min for the waiter to come bring us some water and take our drink order. I asked to not cook my fajitas with bell pepper due to food allergy. Came out with everything mixed. The waiter quickly took it away and just as quickly brought my food back with it scooped off the original plate onto a side dish. Tortillas were cold. Rice had no flavor and was also cold. The one thing that was piping hot were the black beans and my sons quesadilla. The one thing that was on point were the grapefruit, strawberry, and sangria swirl margaritas. Those get a 5 star, the food and service get a 3. I find it odd for what is labeled upscale made from scratch place, you would think you are getting water in a glass and not a plastic cup. This was the perfect place to go on a rare snowy day in Oklahoma. From the moment you walk in you can tell this ain't no ordinary Mexican restaurant, the atmosphere makes you feel like your in Mexico. The staff was amazing and very attentive, they definitely make it a great place to be. Oh and the portions of food are huge at least to me haha. Best queso and salsa hands down in OKC. We stumbled upon this place during one of our trips in Texas. We were ecstatic to find out they were coming home to Oklahoma! We decided to go up for my nieces fiancés birthday. Even though it's new we were able to get right in by sitting outside. This worked out wonderfully because there was a nice breeze and we were right by the beautiful water scenery! My husband got fajitas and loved them, I got enchiladas and the only thing I would do differently is get sour cream sauce instead of the chili on top. My niece and her fiancé got the honey bacon fajitas and could not stop talking about them. They mentioned that they were the best fajitas they ever had. After living in Texas and never trying it there, I've been curious to try Uncle Julio's ever since it came to Oklahoma City. Well, I finally got around to trying it and I really enjoyed it! First of all, it's located in the Chisolm Creek area which has just been a really fun addition to OKC. Uncle Julio's also has a nice patio area and the inside has a nice, laid back vibe. We went on a Friday and it was hoppin' (the wait time was an hour and a half) but we were lucky enough to score a couple of seats at the bar. Our service was great, the drinks were tasty and our food was delicious. I got their chicken fajitas and the chicken was cooked just perfectly. I will be adding Uncle Julio's to my list whenever I'm craving some good Mexican food in OKC! read more

Uncle Julio's may be my new fav croute place to get fajitas in Oklahoma City. The restaurant is located in the newer shopping and dining district, Chisholm Creek. I love this district and all of the new things coming to Oklahoma City in this area. I recently went back to Uncle Julio's and was all around impressed. Our waiter was fun and knowledgeable of the selections. I loved sitting in the middle area a where you can see them preparing the food and all of the fresh ingredients. The outdoor patio is stunning with the water feature that will be perfect for hose spring and summer days. This place is always busy! You can make a reservation, which I highly recommend or the bar is open seating that has tv's and table tops. I got the chicken and steak fajitas and let me just say they were wonderful. Packed with flavor that will leave you wanting more. I paired them with their homemade corn and flour tortillas! Yum O! To end the meal of course we had to get the chocolate piñata. Wow! Was this dessert good. First off it was so fun to do and second it was delicious. The homemade whipped cream was out of this world and I loved the mini churros. We really enjoyed this place. The chips and salsa were good. It wasn't a traditional cold salsa it was warm and spicy. I had the lunch steak tacos and soup they were both good, small steak portion but the steak was very tender. I had read other reviews about it being tuff I didn't find that to be the case. The chicken tortilla soup was excellent as well. My wife had the shrimp tacos which had good flavoring quality shrimp and mangos. Really loved the flavors. We were excited to try this after trying to eat there during Cinco De Mayo but it was too pack. So our second time of coming and it was a disappointment. It was only a party of 2. They sat us very quickly. But we waited and waited and no one helped us with a drink order. So we left. Waiters and waitresses would walk by look at our table and not have the courtesy to ask if we have been helped. Why should we ask for assistance? We came to a spend money and enjoy the food, but their poor customer service made us walk out after sitting their for about 20 minutes. The decor: y'all know decor is my jam. So it was a win. The service: Edgar was super friendly and super prompt despite their busyness. The food: Black beans were a flop, the rice was good, and the bacon wrapped shrimp with this Mexican butter they serve was phenomenal. But my steak fajitas were soooo tough. We go here sometimes for special occasions. We love their chocolate ball with the fruits and the churros and donuts inside! It is a must get!!! It is on the more pricey side but their food is great quality. You get what you pay for. They don't have complimentary queso like most Mexican restaurants around but they do have a good one and variety of other dips like guacamole on their menu. My fave is their seafood fajitas!! We generally love Julio's but tonight the hostess just twisted us the wrong way. We wanted to sit out on the patio by the water. The hostess told us there were tables available because all the big ones were for large parties. Now it was 7 pm. There was no crowd. She offered us a seat next to a wall or next to a window right next to the hostess station. That was about the last straw. We decided we could find something better somewhere else. We ended up a Sonic. Fast service, no attitude, and friendly staff. We don't go out often at all. But we do like Uncle Julio's on the patio when it's nice to sit out. We'd probably have spent at least $50-60 on dinner and drinks. Too bad the hostess was rude and did not give a shit about allowing paying customers just walk out of the restaurant. Uncle Julio's should be noted that the restaurant, which is a franchise, full name is Uncle Julio's Mexican from Scratch, which tells you everything you need to know the kind of food they create here. This location is located in the burgeoning new Chisholm Creek retail center that has a lot of up and coming restaurants, and iFLY indoor skydiving location and the first Costco location in the state so you know Uncle Julio has established itself as a main player in the local dining scene. We came on a Monday afternoon, didn't have reservations, asked to see how hot it was in the July heat on their patio and decided that sitting indoors in a booth by their fresh tortilla making station was the only place to go. That indoor tortilla making station epitomizes what Uncle Julio's is all about fresh ingredients making for hopefully what are delicious dishes. And there seems to be a lot on their dinner menu of a wide variety of traditional Tex-Mex dishes from fajitas, to tamales, to quesadillas, you have a craving for it, it will be here. Upon sitting down our server Cameron presented our table of four with a bowl of freshly cooked tortillas chips and four individual ramekins of rojo salsa with a mild kick to it. Now in places like Oklahoma, apparently cheese Queso is served with every chip and dip dish, at Uncle Julio's they do charge for it, so we did decide to order a small order, which I could see why as it was a rather large bowl of spicy blend of white cheeses with red chili sauce which gave the cheese a yellow hue. Flavorful and warm, I could see why they charge for it, but for almost eight dollars, my eyebrows were raised at the price point. For my dinner, I decided that I had to try the enchiladas, as I tend to lean towards dishes that I cannot make it home, and I liked that they had the option of a Combination Enchilada with options for either two or three enchiladas from their Beef, Chicken and Cheese and Onion Enchiladas. For thirteen dollars, I order their Beef Enchilada filled with ground beef topped with Agave Queso Sauce, and the Chicken Enchilada filled with pulled chicken topped with creamy hatch chili sauce along with a side of Mexican Rice and Frijoles a la Charra. I liked the dish, I'll admit I didn't love it, it got a little dry so I had to cover a lot of it with my rojo salsa that came with our complimentary chips. Overall it did taste solid, but had me wanting more upon reflection of the overall dish. The ambiance to the service at Uncle Julio's was all top-notch. The food left me wanting more, but enough to at least warrant a return visit to this great little plaza that they have recently opened up around this location of Uncle Julio's complete with it's own man-made lake, bridge and fountain show. Uncle Julio's is here to stay in the Oklahoma area and I plan on making a return visit to see if it will become a permanent stop on my list of must visit Tex-Mex establishments. read more

The food was sub par, which I don't understand because the last time I was there (probably over a year ago), it was great. Also, the service was simply awful. We had reservations for 8 (celebrating a 40th birthday) so it's not like they didn't know we were coming. Our waiter was also waiting on another large party and several other tables. They should have divided up the tables differently. We had to wait and wait for each and every thing we needed and had to ask for it repeatedly...even refills on water. Your prices have gone up and your quality has gone way down. I felt embarrassed for suggesting your restaurant to my family. Another issue is the payment process; no itemized receipt, just payment on a pin pad. Walking in immediately we were greeted with smiling hostesses. We actually arrived early for our reservation & to my surprise there was no wait on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We were seated immediately. I ordered steak fajitas & she ordered a chicken burrito bowl. A month later my mom tells me that she craved the flavors of the burrito bowl. My fajitas were also like something I've never had before. The steak for the fajitas was better than steak I've ordered at some steak houses. Our waitress was understanding , polite, and speedy for all of her tables. She was knowledgeable about the menu & made sure we were well taken care of.
