I try to stop here on my way from NYC, except I frequently miss the time but this evening traffic wasn't too bad and made it just before the kitchen closed!This place has never disappointed!! Everything is always on point and precisely tasting exactly the same as the last time. The location is easy to find and always plenty of parking available. Cozy place to enjoy a meal. Family owned establishment so everyone was friendly. Not sure of the other pies or entrees, but the uncle Louie deep dish took quite sometime to come out. We waited about 30 minutes for our pie to come out. (It wasn't packed, it was a random week night- I thought service was a bit slow). It took like 5 minutes for her to bring us the check, I think it was just one waiter for l the tables. We ordered a uncle Louie pie, it was really good. Deep dish pizza with a lot of cheese & sauce. We got mushrooms on half of it. I think the one with toppings tasted better. It was quite large and very filling. The crust was hard, but as expected. The 2 bruschetta and bread were complimentary. It was nice. Next time I would come back, but probably order a grandma pie or margarita pizza. Deep dish was nice to try for the first time. Uncle Louie's has solid pizza and SUPER friendly staff that treat you like regulars/old friends. The crust on their grandpa pie (cheese on the bottom, sauce on the top) is surprisingly light (this is great for the "body" of the pizza but I wish the outer crust had a little more oomf, personally). While driving through the Franklin Lakes area, we found this place that was well-rated on several apps and decided to give it a try. We opted to dine in and were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary warm rolls and bruschetta. Our waitress was Bree (she was great) and the food came out super fast. One of my pet peeves is waitresses who don't write down orders and totally botch them. Everything was brought out as ordered. I ordered a chicken Parm sandwich with lettuce. The bread was a little harder than I'd like but the overall sandwich was still good. The french fries were cooked very well - not too soft and not too crispy. The grandma slices were a good quality. My two-year-old daughter typically stays away from them but she couldn't get enough. This was a quality Italian establishment that we would go to again. read more

I walked in and was greeted and served by a really nice guy. I paid and left. I ordered the build your own pasta with tomato sauce, linguini and vegetables and it was pretty good. Just ordered food 70.00 worth. When someone asks if you have stuffed artichokes , you say yes, but you don't tell them their not regular artichokes!!!! Their canned and then you stuff them with cheap bread crumbs in oil ! And charge ridiculous amount. Yes, it was stuffed artichoke but you should tell people how you make it!!!! Got the grandma's pizza, margarita pizza, garlic bread, and rice balls. It was the first time I've ever had grandma's pizza and I enjoyed that here. It's a square pizza that has very little sauce and is particularly thin. It had a strong focus on the dough and just a very thin layer of cheese on it and overall was very enjoyable. The margarita pizza, was nothing special to me. I've had these before and this one didn't stand out by any means. Not particularly good or particularly bad. The garlic bread was...actually bad. Not that much flavor and the bread crumbles. The rice balls, first time having them and not my thing. Oh you must do Louie's. We were in need of lunch traveling from Rhode Island to Ohio. We first tried a search of restaurants on Google Maps and another establishment was suggested. I got a 2nd opinion on Yelp. Uncle Louies came up near by. We immediately knew Louie's would be a step up from the Google suggestion. The hospitality was over the top, David asked where we were from since we did not sound like a local. I replied O hia' and explained how "car" is properly pronounced (not "kaar"). David, a grandson of Louis, answered all our cuisine questions, dropped off a couple sample slices and pepperoni rolls. That got our attention. Our two pies came quickly. The house specialty, a thin but not cracker crust, no grease, loaded with fresh meat and veggies pizza was a knock out. Alll agreed it was one of the best pizzas ever. The Grandma was an attempt at deep dish but less impressive. Dont take us wrong, it was still very good since we could simply eat the sauce as a soup. The pepperoni rolls were so good, we bought 1 to go along with the broccoli and spinach roll and garlic knots with sauce fo later. This spot. WOW. While I've always ordered for delivery, this feels as authentic as NNJ Italian can be. The amount of options, flavor profile of the pastas and pizzas I've tried, even their fries! Such a good idea. The only tip is avoid calling, just order online much easier as their phones get so busy. As for their staff they as so friendly and efficient. I received an order about 20 minutes earlier than their web estimate and it was fresh and the delivery person was so careful and kind, they thanked me for the tip instead of just wanting to throw the food at me. So I ordered online and it is my fault but it said 91 instead of 95 they use some weird company called Chow now which I've never heard of the guy calls up says Uber eats but yet on the app says now doesn't where he is he cancels it and automatic of $64.66and I had to wait an hour and a half and I'm told that I might get a refund and nobody knows where the food goes but the driver has it and he canceled it really disappointed never ordering from this facility again and if anything says on it for delivery, don't get it read more

I get (back) to New Jersey on average of once a year, and the first thing I want is pizza. Sure, we have some really good NY-style pie in my Houston hometown, but this is ... Jersey. It's just ... different. Uncle Louie's will be my new 'first' stop after the wheels touch down here from the Lone Star State. I'll be honest: Most pizza in this neck of the woods is pretty good stuff. But Louie's stands out. Not only is the restaurant itself slightly darker than most pizza joints, the table service makes it feel like more than just your average pizzeria. And the folks making your pie ... humble and polite ... they really want you to feel like you're eating at home. But, I digress, because you should really come here for the exceptional food. As usual, I ordered calamari as a starter. It is lightly breaded and comes to the table with lemons and a tangy sweet marinara. It only took one bite and I realized that these guys know their tentacles -- buttery and melting calamari, opposed to the pencil erasers that most places serve. My wife, a keto person, had the meatball with marinara and some ricotta. Was the meatball her mom's? No. But it was better than most. Tender. flavorful. Worth ordering again. The rest of us had the pizza -- a grandma-style pie -- and it was pure nirvana. The crust is thin like paper with a wonderful yeasty flavor. Add the homemade sauce, fresh mozzarella and Italian sausage and 'shrooms and you might as well head to church afterward and pray for your eternal self, because you won't find anything better ... in this lifetime.
