This place is in our backyard.. a friend had mentioned it in the past but didn't have the opportunity to try it.. UNTIL last week! Big delicious mistake. We planned on driving to Tanner's but didn't feel like the drive so decided to give Uncle Mike's a try. The BEST ice cream! Had a sugar cone double dip- coconut and coffee crunch (?)... WOW! If you've ever seen the Seinfeld one with the Soup Navi, the guy who owns this place has to be his brother. He is consistently miserable, borderline hostile. On our most recent visit we arrived shortly before they closed. While we waited in line, a young boy opened the door and screamed at us all to get out. (While we were waiting it turned 9pm) The owner took his position by the door to physically block and scowl at anyone trying to come in to patronize his business. He decided to let one last group in with a girl wearing a Grad outfit. He literally said to his staff,"I'm letting them in to punish you because you left the dishes for me!" Uncle Mike's ice cream is different than others. First of all, the service provided to us was so kind. He gave kids cones and "just in case" cups to use I got to sample all of my 4 kids' cones and cups. All the flavors were so good. I think mine was the best. I got chocolate with chocolate chunks. I'm gonna get some backlash for this, but I feel this ice cream could rival the Penn State creamery ice cream. Portions are good. Prices are a little steep, but for the place being clean and sanitary it was worth it. Cones were nice and crunchy and not the typical little bit of crunch with somesogginess. My wife said the mint chocolate chip was delicious but not better than Penn State creamery. I got rum raisin and coconut. I felt the coconut was better than Penn State's version of the almond joy. Did not try the bathrooms. And the employee who waited on us was fantastic and friendly, almost to the point where she seemed too friendly/fake. The first time, was in the area and searched for the best ice cream and we are big on mom/pop family businesses. Uncle Mike's delivers on friendly welcoming service, cleanliness, and tastiness. Even though they were out of pistachio which I had on the brain so tasted and ordered the chocolate, caramel with heathbar (I'm not a fan of Carmel nor heathbar, but this was a great mix whereas the creamy texture and blend, masked any one flavor, hence complemented via the tri-mix. The peanut butter bomb is a must if you like chocolate based peanut butter ice cream. Really creamy ice cream with rich chocolate flavor. There's no frills here, just a super clean, take out only store, tucked away in a shopping center with rows and rows of ice cream in giant cartons and a list of flavors and toppings on the wall. This might sound like I'm criticizing, but that's not the case at all. What Uncle Mikes skips in atmosphere, they make up for in deliciousness. There's a wide variety of flavors and while nothing is crazy, you're guaranteed to find something you like, whether you like fruit, baked goods, candy flavors, or something more classic. The toppings are exactly what you'd expect from an ice cream place as are the cone options, but they do get extra points for offering pretzel cones, something that seems exceedingly hard to find these days. The menu is your basic milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits and scoops, but what more do you need? The staff is super kind and patient and they offer punch cards where you get a free small cup or cone after 10 punches. It's a great suburban ice cream shop and a throwback to my childhood. I especially love that it was open in the winter until 9pm! It made for a great week night spot for my friends to eat some ice cream and catch up. They had 3 people working, one of which was I believe the owner. The staff was all super nice. The place is really clean, relatively small but still an ample amount of seating. The ice cream is all home made which is a huge plus! I got the peanut butter bomb which I believe had Reese's pieces, peanut butter, and maybe peanuts ? In it. It was really good. I got two scoops on a chocolate dipped waffle cone and it was only $6+ which is a great deal considering how much ice cream you got. I'm glad this place is here and I hope it stay open. Tucked away in a small strip center on York Road, just off Street in Warminster, PA, with small blue sign above the store, it is a little hard to find as you drive by. But, I caught sight of a roadside flag as I approached, and was able to pull into the parking lot without problem. The shop is bright white, with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Mike carries about 12 - 15 flavors at any given time. Only hard ice cream. No soft serve. There are a combination of young and older kids working there who are friendly and efficient. I ordered the two scoop medium size cup of butter pecan and peanut butter cookies & cream. They were large scoops and plenty for this lonesome traveler. It became obvious that Unca Mike really did mix his own flavors. Originally, the peanut butter cookies and cream had been two distinct flavors, but he must have been running low on the ingredients for both, and just threw them together to use them up. Necessity being the mother of invention, the result was the best of both worlds. Excellent peanut butter swirl and cookies and cream playing off each other like old friends who don't visit too often. So, in fact, I received 3 flavors within the two scoops. No complaints. They all were richly creamy and bursting with taste. Very good ice cream all around. At $4.50, it was a excellent deal. The shop staff are beyond friendly and they let you sample whatever you would like. The prices are fair and the quality is top notch. It's an easy place to miss tucked away in a small strip mall. I was visiting my 90 year old grandmother who wanted to treat me and my family to ice cream and my grandmother was sitting inside eating her ice cream when the owner told us to leave. There were probably 8 people in line getting ice cream and he told us they were too busy and that we needed to leave the shop - having no respect for the elderly and the fact that my 90 year old grandmother needed to sit inside with a seat and where it was warmer. The ice cream tasted ok but nothing special, at least not the flavors I got, which were mint chocolate chip and chocolate velvet. I asked for a waffle cone with both flavors and the employee came over with the cone upside down in a bowl and said she broke it, and asked if that was ok or did I want her to scoop another one. I wanted a cone so she made another one. My cone clearly had less ice cream in it than my boyfriend's and when I asked about that, she said it was the same amount but just looked like less because the chocolate velvet ice cream on the bottom was more watery. It was so soft that it dripped all over the place. They should not have sold that flavor because of the consistency. I would not go out of my way to go back to Uncle Mike's but would maybe try it again if I was close by and in the mood for ice cream. read more
