It was a bit crowded, it was a Sunday morning, we gave our name and were called within 15 minutes. Our server was terrific! I'm vegan and she happily got me almond milk for my coffee (which was good). She also pointed out a vegan breakfast option for me. It was the Irish pizza. Loads of sauteed veggies over potatoes with multigrain toast. It was huge! It came with a little bowl of fresh fruit. The wife got a cheese omelette with a short stack. She ate it all! Slightly cramped but that's what I expect at a beach pancake joint The food. Orange juice: Fresh squeezed and delicious. Pancakes: Good, not great. (I think IHOP's are much better). Uncle Will's are decent though: large portions with fresh blueberries, strawberries or bananas French toast: Fantastic. Thick, golden brown, buttery outer crust and pillowy middle. Awesome! My son, who is 90 pounds but thinks he's Adam Richman from Man vs Food, ordered the bunkhouse breakfast. First things first: CASH ONLY!!!! Thanks to fellow Yelp reviews, I found this out pre-breakfast and was prepared. The wait is usually quite long, especially around peak times (Sat and Sun, late mornings). However, I only ended up waiting around half an hour for a table for four at 9:00 on a Saturday, which isn't bad considering the line at Chegg a few blocks over. Uncle Will's is an LBI classic, yet it took me this long to finally try it for myself. Despite the name, I went for the french toast, which was delicious and full of cinnamon (the way I like it). The home fries are also delicious, but the rosemary was a bit overpowering. I also got to try the pancakes (they have a huge variety) and they were very good, but not fantastic. The staff was very friendly, and the decor was homey and fun with all the pig-themed paraphanalia. CASH ONLY! Seriously it is 2016! So if you are planning on going here (and you're not a local in the know) beware that they only accept cash, 1/5 stars. When my family and walked into UW, a very nice lady asked us how many, she replied it would be a ten minute wait, and out of the corner this goat looking fellow bark "wait outside". I have to tell you, this lack of hospitality is rampant in New Jersey. Albeit you will find the exception, the reality is this state, including LBI, suffers from lack of options (every business) in turn breeding this attitude of screw you patron you're a bother. This is very much the case with UW. Speaking to customers should come across as appreciative and kind. This guy is just an ass (probably one of the owners), get him away from the customers! The rest of the staff was pretty nice. 2/5 stars The food is at best on par with whatever you can find in your grocery store frozen foods section. The pancakes, which are part of the locations name, rubbery and flat versus soft and fluffy, which indicates they are not whipping them in house and are probably pouring from some generic pre-blend (lame). Omelet.. Ehhh it was ok, same experience as the pancakes, the eggs were not mixed in house and the veges were ok. The best part of my breakfast was the sliced tomato and the water. Without a doubt a Dennie's or IHOP breakfast is significantly better, and more natural (if that's possible). 1/5 stars One should also note that this place is packed in like sardines. You will hear every detail of the night before from whomever you're sitting next to. I'm not sure how this place is passing fire code because the distance between tables is less than 20 inches. 1/5stars The Fire Marshall should show up here on a Sunday morning. This place USED to have the fluffiest lightest pancakes. Not so much anymore. The omelette's are still ok. The place is always crowded because the options in beach haven are kinda slim. The place has tasty food, but it's bit pricey. Kids will enjoy dining with a fake pig their size, except for my niece who was totally freaked out by the thing. They also now offer dinner. Oh and the handle on the toilet in the womens room....you always have to jiggle it. Prepare to wait atleast 15 minutes if not an hour. I say its wheelchair accessible, but it's tight and you might get bumped a lot. You can call ahead and put in your name or put in your name and go in the drugstore in the corner. We came here on a Sat morning for breakfast. There was an hour wait, but normal for this local place. First off, my coffee mug was dirty which wasn't a good start. Waitress seemed to have an attitude since we wanted a new one. We placed our orders, and the food was out in minutes which made us nervous. My French toast with apples, bananas and rum sauce was good, and the biscuits and gravy were also good which is the only reason we even gave 1 Star. The pancakes were average, bland and not even fluffy. Our waitress was in la la land since every time we said thank you, she didn't even respond. She said a whole 5 words the entire time. Also, I don't think they know about air conditioning. It was 90 degrees outside, and they cram 100 people in this small space. They only had fans running slowly. If the air was on, it wasn't to a decent temp. Cash only? They don't even let the customers know before they walk through the door. It's unmarked and was a shock when it came time to pay. This is an awesome place to eat, I love the atmosphere and the food. We have only eaten here for breakfast but the food is out of this world, there is something for everyone. This place has changed a lot over the years. I have been coming to LBI since 1990 and it's been a staple every summer. It's used to be simple and to the point. Only breakfast. Limited simple menu options done right. There was always a line outside. Now it's changed, but for the better. They do dinner now. They offer a wide variety of different menu options. And that line is still constantly there. We waited an hour to be seated. The only thing I hate about this place is how they seat people. Don't seat them based on party size. Seat them first come first serve if you aren't going to take reservations. Anyway, I had a tough time deciding what to order, shocker, but since my fiancé ordered the thing I was really interested in, I was able to order something else. She ordered the red neck Benedict, for me an omelette with pork roll, manchego cheese and sun dried tomatoes, and as the table of for of us, and order of banana chocolate chip pancakes to share. Bottomless coffee, we love you. I can't stand when restaurants gauge you for coffee each time you want a refill. Uncle wills just kept on pouring. Our food came out real fast and it smelled delicious. My omelette was fantastic. I'm a south jersey native, so pork roll is close to my heart, and it probably is in my heart clogging it up too, but god I love it. It went really well with the nutty manchego and acidic sun dried tomatoes. My fiances red neck Benedict was not as good as it sounded though. Going to school in North Carolina for 4 years really changed my perpsective on ssausage gravy and biscuits. These biscuits were actually pretty good, and they sopped up the gravy nicely. The gravy didnt have enough pepper or sausage in it though, and I didnt really understand why the ham was chopped up into pieces. Usually when you get a benedict, you get a piece of meat laid across the muffin or biscuit. It would have been fine though if the ham was a little bit better tasting than it was. It was ok, just kind of plain. The pancakes really drove it home for us. While I wish there was more banana and a little less chocolate chips, the flavor was fantastic. They were definitely some of the better ancakes I have had in recent memory. You gotta love it when a place called a Pancake house really does have killer pancakes. The wait is a pain in the butt, but you would be mistaken to come to LBI and not eat at Uncle Will's. Its an LBI staple. read more

Mediocre at best is how I would describe Uncle Will's. It was a 45-minute wait after being told 20, fair enough considering it was the busy season. But once seated our party of four was crammed into a little table and rushed into our meal. Barely had a chance to open the menu before the waitress was back looking for the order. Food was okay. Lots of excellent coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Service was excellent, server Pearl provided great customer service, kept the coffee mug topped and hot and answer any questions. We have been going to Uncle Wills for years with our family. During our weeks at the beach, we usually frequent Uncle Wills two to three times for breakfast/lunch. Not only is their establishment run with military precision, the food is absolutely delicious! Our family goes out to eat a lot and never have we seen the level of consistency in both service and delicious food! Margie and Tom are an amazing team and together with their exemplary staff always make you feel at home! I highly recommend this restaurant and would say it is a must visit if you are ever on LBI! This was the first time I had their hazelnut coffee. It was good just not anything great. I feel the same about their regular coffee -good not great. Their omelets are awesome. Just wish they were a bit bigger. When you don't get them stuffed with items they fall a little short of being a full meal, but no worries they come with pancakes or French toast. I have had both and prefer the French toast. Uncle Will's boasts quite possibly the fastest table turnover for breakfast. That kitchen pumps out food. The service was just a tad slower than normal, but normal is supersonic so I didn't mind the extra wait time. The food is consistently four stars, which means a lot. I am a huge fan of the combination style menu. I never want just and omelet or just French toast. This style gives you optionality for breakfast. read more

Our first time here this morning and our first time out with our infant son in 7+ months. Our waitress (who i believe is one of the owners) was so accommodating and so so kind. Right away, she brought out a pig on wheels to distract our son and next, smashed bananas for him without us even asking! We ordered and our food came out in under 10 minutes and our son's came out nearly right away so he could chow down. She was so incredibly sweet and attentive! Not to mention our food was AMAZING! I had the berry crepes that were similar to a meal I had in Greece. So fresh and delicious! My husband had blueberry macadamia pancakes with maple syrup and he is still talking about them. I've eaten at Uncle Wills a few times over the years, mostly out of someone else's suggestion that I went along with. The food is not all bad. Some items on the menu are good. These are my reasons for 2 stars: 1) the old guy with the goatee who either owns it or manages it is a nasty arrogant man. Always. There's never any niceties like thank you. It's like he's doing you a favor having you there 2) too many tables basically on top of each other and because it's lbi with a lack of restaurants, it's crowded in summer 3) last but not least It's a cash-only business at breakfast. There are no receipts. He pretends to operates out of an antique cash register that has an open draw where he keeps cash for change or he just makes change out of his pocket. Orders are taken on a pad and you bring that paper up to him and absolutely nothing is rung up anywhere. No record of anything. IRS alert. He must get away with this by accepting cc at night with his small dinner crowd. read more

Don't let the name fool you!!! Complete Renaissance (as I remember it from several years ago). No hamburgers, French fries, Rubens or any other typical deli like food. Great surprise, stopped by because all the "other" 4 star restaurants in LBI (Stefano's, Howard's, Black Whale, etc) had ridiculous lines waiting to get in. Passed by & no lines. Wait!...does Uncle Willis still serve dinner? Hell yes, & dinner was fantastic and complete surprise. WOW! Handful of diners inside, soft music, tranquil. Updated, redecorated and upscaled with gourmet chef flair. Very very impressive. Curaçao salad, Pork Osso Bocco grilled asparagus and mushroom risotto. Presentation perfect and tasted even better. Also tried grilled salmon and Lobster cakes (yes, not crab cakes) all w incredible depths of flavor. Can't wait to come back! **CASH ONLY** Two stops for breakfast (7am - 1pm) this week, though they do serve dinner after 5pm. Pricey (our breakfast for 4 was $60 with tip), but when you overhear conversations like "we outgrew the Mendham house, so we're having another built" most of the clientele doesn't worry about money. Almost always a wait during season, so either come super early or prepare to chill outside (some seating provided). Food is good to very good - nothing blew me away; the omelette I had at our first visit was very good. They do have a nice selection of different pancakes, probably 10 or so varieties. Some of the other menu items were interesting. My group, both times, ordered eggs, french toast, and other plain fare. The portions were average. A gentleman who appeared to be the owner was very involved in operations. The staff was friendly, but the service was average; in fact, at my first visit I had to remind the server several times to bring creamers for my coffee. When she finally did, she brought me a fresh cup since it was only warm at that point. At our second visit, the music was turned to a level that was very loud and distorted. The owner/manager's hearing must be worse than mine (which is pretty bad) but finally a staff member asked permission to turn it down to a reasonable level. SUMMARY: Service was fair (1st visit) to good (2nd visit); Food was good to very good; Value was below average but in line with a resort area. I'd give 3 1/2 if I could. read more

Amazing restaurant for breakfast, went with 13 family members so we saw and sampled a variety of foods like crepes and their cleverly named omelets. From the fresh squeezed orange juice to the pig paraphernalia, overall it was a great time. I recommend the chocolate and banana pancakes. All and all my entire family left (waddled) out of the door happy and very full. They are a Cash Only establishment, and be prepared to wait for seating as they are pretty busy for breakfast.
