Crispy, sweet, and super satisfying. The Chow Fun was also a favorite (5/5) with great texture and flavor. Quick n' easy Chinese food. It's about average, nothing to rave about. The food is okay. Edible, but not extravagant. I've eaten take out here numerous times when I crave Chinese take-out. There's just not much to work with in Oakley, CA. I would say Uncle Wong is just about the same with the competitors. The food, without getting into specifics, can be inconsistent-- sometimes bland, sometimes, a little less bland. Just like any other Chinese take-out, the food can also be oily, which is expected. The serving size is about the same as others, as well as the price. The 3 stars stem from them at least being "okay", service and readiness being quick, and priced decently. This place is not that fancy and is just a small Chinese restaurant with only a few tables and chairs. I can describe this as a small hole in a wall Chinese restaurant. We ordered their lunch special of String beans with beef on a black bean sauce. The menu has chicken and I asked if I could replace the meat with beef. They obliged without any price change. The lunch plate is generous in size. They served a lot of beef and string beans. The beef is tender and juicy. And the string beans are not soggy but crispy. The service is also fast. Since this is the first time dining here, I have a first impression that the food is good. Even though the place is small and not elegant, the food is quite good. This place is quiet, charming mom-and-pop spot with a darker, low-key ambiance. It's not really a place to linger, but perfect for a quick and easy pickup. This secret little restaurant is my favorite local Chinese food. I love Yu-Sang and this is one of the few restaurants that have Yu-shang style. Food is quick, veggies are fresh and quantity is fair. Our family was so sad when Wong's in Antioch closed. We were LONG TIME customers and spent many family celebrations there. Had to come to Brentwood to go to the bank lol. Closest Fremont bank from where I live. Craving Chinese so went to my trusted Yelp. And lo and behold 10 minutes away was Uncle Wong's, if I was Chinese I'm pretty sure I would literally have a Uncle Wong haha lol. They have great reviews, so I decided to give them a try. Went in around lunch time, small little restaurant at the corner of a little strip mall deal, right next to Subway. Place was empty, so my guess they mostly to take out. Dined in, ordered off their lunch menu, ordered my go-to Mongolian beef with hot and sour soup. Also ordered hot tea. The portion size was huge! Pretty damn generous, thank you. The taste, delicious. Not the best I had, but super good. Hot and sour soup, good. Not the greatest I had, but did the job. Craving sufficed! The service was perfect. The timing was also perfect. We've been going to U. Wongs for 18 yrs. In Nov, I'm late posting, been at the dentist a lot. We had a craving for our usual fix . I added sweet and sour pork. I bit into a tough piece of meat and my bridge broke in the front of my mouth! I called right away and asked to speak with the owner , Sharon. She was nice and made an appt to see me . When I went in the her tune changed ! There were like 4 men sitting at a table eating . They started screaming at me and calling me every name in the book and to get the fuck out . All I said was please give me your insurance and I'll deal with them like you told me on the phone. One guy approached me so close and aggressively I thought he was gonna hit me and I said I was calling the police if he didn't back off , which I did. Sharon gave me Farmers as her insurance. Later to find out she DIDNT HAVE farmers ! I'm at the dentist a lot bec all of this loosened my front teeth, now I have to have extensive surgery bec of it all. Be weary of this place , the ppl she has working have a mouth and violent tendencies!! Also there aren't many good Chinese restaurants in our area , a few have closed ! The food quality of this place is very poor . The best Chinese is the Double Dragon on Somersville Rd . The best you'll get outside of SF . I placed my order at 8:30pm, arrived to pick it up at 8:50pm. Then drove another 15 minutes to my destination. I've been eating at uncle Wong's for the past 15 years. The last couple of times it didn't taste the way it normally does. Today it was absolutely horrible. I got the uncle Wong fried rice and the beef and broccoli. The beef and broccoli taste like water and the meat is really chewy . Uncle Wongs fried rice was weak. I ordered crab puffs and unfortunately it was filled with cheese. I did call and they said that that's the way they make them that the imitation crab is mixed in there.
