We been here twice, same experience, food too salty. My wife order salt and pepper fish with fried rice. Rice is too dark and salty, fish smell not fresh. I had the Hong Kong Style noodle, too salty. I told about it and she said "next time order less salt" i said whattttttt? It should be enough salt and perfect because if you want a little bit more, theres always a soy sauce and a salt on the table that you can add on. read more

I ordered the "Wor Won Ton Soup". I tried to ascertain whether it would be a large, shareable type bowl, because that is what I wanted (all to myself, hee hee). I couldn't get a straight answer as to the size. The waitress simply repeated the phrase, "Only one size". When it arrived, I was a little disappointed in the bowl size, as it was $15, and it looked a little small/medium. As it turned out, it was chock full of meat, bok choy, and wontons, and I got quite full. It included "BBQ" pork, which I always like in my wonton soup. It turned out to be really good. I would go back. The ambience is not great, it seems more set up for to-go orders. Only a few tables, and there was stuff kind of stacked up in places as if they don't expect a lot of diners to be seated. But it wasn't dirty or anything like that. read more

It's been forever since I've came to eat here for lunch. So when the opportunity with my cousin craving Chinese food and being in the area Papa Chen's popped up on yelp as a suggestion so we took advantage of the lunch special. I got the sesame chicken with the chow mein and since we ate there it also came with hot and sour soup. The soup was hot and spicy so definitely a perk sitting in for lunch since you do not get soup to go. The chow mein was full of noodles and minimal veggies which is perfect to me. The sesame chicken was crispy and saucy at the same time, had a good flavor but I will pass on getting it next time. My cousin got the Mongolian combo with chow mein and I was kinda jealous when I saw his plate come out next to mine! I didn't get to snag a bite but I'll definitely have to try that in the future. The soup came out quickly after we ordered and before it even had time to cool off our lunch plates were already out! So if you're short of time this is the place to go. Only thing I would have enjoyed if we were checked on a little more for water refills, but we were talking alot so maybe she was just being nice and give us space. I believe the food green bean shrimp and chicken chow mien was overly salty and the foiled wrapped chicken was old because the chicken would not remove itself from the foil and salty as all hell like it was old When I was polite by speaking the person at the register how her day was, she applied replied something in her language but soon after spoke perfectly great English. We did an online order this time because we had a lot of food to order with family here. They were prompt with the order and helped my husband out the door with the food. The food is amazing! On May 13, 2025, around 1230, I called in and placed four items at Papa Chen; the person said it would be ready in 10 minutes and arrived 20 minutes later. I took the food home, and my partner and I served a decent portion of the food, but in our last experience, the Food was really "horrible." It tasted old, and the meat smelled weirdly of sweet & sour and sesame chicken; the chow fun tasted stale, and the green beans tasted bad; we like Chinese food, but what we ordered for $64 is not worth it. We don't like throwing food away but this one is not safe to eat. We went to a different Chinese place. I felt papa Chen reused ingredients from a few days ago or they use ingredients is not fresh. The meat and vegetables at this restaurant are not fresh. I ordered the Mongolian Combo, but one of the pieces of beef was spoiled. When I brought this to the owner's attention, she flatly refused to acknowledge the issue and displayed a terrible attitude. Although the other dishes weren't spoiled, they were completely lacking in freshness. I strongly advise you to exercise caution when choosing to dine at this restaurant. Papa Chen is a cook to order Chinese eatery. The interior is small, but there are several tables along the wall if you choose to dine in. There's no table service though, so you have to order your food at the take in counter first. I ordered Beef tomato chow mein, and asked for curry to be added. That was a dollar Up charge for a little curry to be sprinkled in. This review is only for what I ordered. In the past when when I order this dish, the tomato beef chow mein was traditionally made with slightly sweet tomato sauce. Then curry is added to the the sauce to boost the flavor with curry. Unfortunately, this tomato beef chow mein was NOT made with the tomato sauce (as you can see from the pic). You usually can see the red tomato sauce all over the chow mein noodles. Maybe that's how Papa Chen now makes it. It was slightly bland without the slightly sweet tomato sauce, and the curry flavor was faint. I was a little disappointed. It was ok, but definitely not as good as I had at other Chinese eateries. Hopefully, the current cooks can change the way they make tomato beef chow mein w/curry, and prepare it like other Chinese restaurants. $62 for my food to be disgusting is crazy. Rice was so burnt, "honey walnut shrimp" tasted like mayonnaise, the only thing they got going for them was the noodles. It was not my first time having their food, so I know their potential! No need to sugar coat this; after spending over $300, I was not pleased. The chicken chow mein was nothing special. It was greasy even. A little too greasy. The noodles were cooked well & so was everything in the dish, but the flavor was just lacking. Maybe needed salt? More soy sauce? Either way, it could have been better. The sesame chicken was rough. The chicken was a bit dry & also was smaller pieces of chicken and lots of breading. The sesame sauce also wasn't the best, and also had a sourness taste to it; no one got sick, thankfully. Maybe just added a little too much of something that made it a bit sour? The broccoli beef, luckily, wasn't bad. Though it wasn't something to boast over. It was average. Beef. Broccoli. Mushrooms. Sauce. Plain & simple, but STILL feels like it could have been better! The best dish I had ordered out of the 4 was the beef fried rice. Hard to mess up! & thankfully they didn't. It was good! Rice had a good feel, good rice to veggie ratio & beef ratio. I believe they deserve this 2 star for at least not having bad broccoli beef & having good fried rice, but no more than 2 stars for some mediocre chicken chow mein & horrible sesame chicken. We're new to the area and wanted Chinese and this was the only place that came up near by. We ordered their Family Dinner #3 and it was okay but the Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice lacked flavor. Also, the honey walnut shrimp was more like horseradish mayo walnut shrimp. I just wasn't expecting that flavor at all. For $60, I would expect a bit more better quality. The owner, Papa Chen was very nice and accommodating for my order as he took it so the service is A1.
