Chicken salad... shredded lettuce under there

Always great food! Plenty for a group of 5 adults. We ordered House Fried rice, broccoli beef, chicken salad, pot stickers & szechuan chicken. All flavorful and freshly made. Pleasant experience for take out orders. Nicely boxed up and Plenty of dipping packets.

1. Hot and Sour Soup

It's been forever since I've came to eat here for lunch. So when the opportunity with my cousin craving Chinese food and being in the area Papa Chen's popped up on yelp as a suggestion so we took advantage of the lunch special. I got the sesame chicken with the chow mein and since we ate there it also came with hot and sour soup. The soup was hot and spicy so definitely a perk sitting in for lunch since you do not get soup to go. The chow mein was full of noodles and minimal veggies which is perfect to me. The sesame chicken was crispy and saucy at the same time, had a good flavor but I will pass on getting it next time. My cousin got the Mongolian combo with chow mein and I was kinda jealous when I saw his plate come out next to mine! I didn't get to snag a bite but I'll definitely have to try that in the future. The soup came out quickly after we ordered and before it even had time to cool off our lunch plates were already out! So if you're short of time this is the place to go. Only thing I would have enjoyed if we were checked on a little more for water refills, but we were talking alot so maybe she was just being nice and give us space. I would go back again if I'm in the area and if my normal Chinese spots are closed.

On May 13, 2025, around 1230, I called in and placed four items at Papa Chen; the person said it would be ready in 10 minutes and arrived 20 minutes later. I took the food home, and my partner and I served a decent portion of the food, but in our last experience, the Food was really "horrible." It tasted old, and the meat smelled weirdly of sweet & sour and sesame chicken; the chow fun tasted stale, and the green beans tasted bad; we like Chinese food, but what we ordered for $64 is not worth it. We don't like throwing food away but this one is not safe to eat. We went to a different Chinese place. I felt papa Chen reused ingredients from a few days ago or they use ingredients is not fresh. Too bad we can't get our money back.

Papa Chen is a cook to order Chinese eatery. The interior is small, but there are several tables along the wall if you choose to dine in. There's no table service though, so you have to order your food at the take in counter first. I ordered Beef tomato chow mein, and asked for curry to be added. That was a dollar Up charge for a little curry to be sprinkled in. This review is only for what I ordered. In the past when when I order this dish, the tomato beef chow mein was traditionally made with slightly sweet tomato sauce. Then curry is added to the the sauce to boost the flavor with curry. Unfortunately, this tomato beef chow mein was NOT made with the tomato sauce (as you can see from the pic). You usually can see the red tomato sauce all over the chow mein noodles. Maybe that's how Papa Chen now makes it. It was slightly bland without the slightly sweet tomato sauce, and the curry flavor was faint. I was a little disappointed. It was ok, but definitely not as good as I had at other Chinese eateries. Hopefully, the current cooks can change the way they make tomato beef chow mein w/curry, and prepare it like other Chinese restaurants. I will go back and order other foods and update my review.

Pretty solid food. Staff was polite. The actual restaurant is no frills and not super impressive. Definitely more of a Togo establishment.

The atmosphere was about middle ground, neither high end, but also not dingy or garish. In terms of service, everyone was friendly, willing to clear up confusions, and patient. -ORDER: 6PC TENDER COMBO; HONEY & SWEET BBQ- STRENGTHS *Both sauces, including their own honey lemon, and a more conventional BBQ were high quality. The honey lemon was unique, as it left the wings a bit dryer than a traditional sauce *The slaw was good. Not unique, but still executed well, being flavorful, cold, and fresh. *Their in-house mango passionfruit drink was unique, and rather good. It was a good refresher to cleanse my pallet in between bites. POTENTIAL POINTS OF IMPROVEMENT *The carrots and celery were... pathetic. The slices were equally thinner and shorter than my index finger. *The tenders beneath the sauce tasted like pre made tenders, as they tasted very similar to many other tenders I've had at various restaurants Conclusion: Wing bros in Antioch was a flavorful, above average quality experience with decent value for what you get. I'd go again, and I'd recommend you go as well.

And you choose the flavor and the level of spice. So we got the Cajun and mild. The amount of seafood boil in the one order is a lot of food in my opinion. Depending on how much one person can eat, I think the one order is good for 2-3 people. Service was good not perfect. We had to wait at least 10-15 minutes. I also order their mango drink. I love that you get free refills while you wait for your food (to go). We didn't dine in, we took the food home. Was a little disappointed that our seafood boil did not have the sausages, I literally kept checking the bag until I finally dumped it on the table and still no sausages. The boil was a little on the salty side. But over all it was still a good boil. The ambiance is cool it's got that sports bar vibe going on but it's kid friendly. The price is not as expensive as other places who serve seafood boil. Hope next time is a bit better experience.

It's seat-yourself, which I always appreciate because I don't have to awkwardly stand around wondering if someone has seen me. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us without hovering. They also had the World Cup on several TVs, so if you're trying to eat without missing the game, they've got you covered. I ordered the shaken beef with yellow rice, and it was the star of the meal. The beef was incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and the yellow rice was delicious too. Overall, a solid spot with good food, good service, and a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely be back! It was short drive to the Brentwood Center shopping mall and was able to park in front. Arriving at 1:45pm on a Friday, there were a couple of tables of customers. Restaurant was modern, clean and bright. They had some TVs and had world cup soccer on. They had a specials board with nine items with three in Vietnamese. Checking out the menu, we had some questions. Our waitress couldn't answer some of our questions and she had another waitress come and she was answered our questions and described the special items. I went with caramelized pork belly with rice special. It came in a cute little black pot with a plate of rice and a salad. There were four large pieces of pork belly in sauce and they were tender and tasty. There was a boiled egg in the pot as well. Friend ordered the vermicelli bun with grilled pork and egg rolls. She was happy with the dish especially and appreciated the sliced grilled pork. If in the area, would stop here again if looking for Vietnamese cuisine. Good food and friendly and efficient service.

The plate itself was scorching hot--I couldn't even pick it up. It honestly felt like the burrito had been microwaved for too long. I ordered the Chile Verde wet burrito and had a similar experience. The plate was extremely hot, the pork was very tough and seemed undercooked for a dish that should be tender, and nearly half of the meat was fat. I also found multiple bay leaves mixed into the burrito. The chips were so heavily salted that they were practically inedible. I actually had to rub some of the salt off before eating them. This was our second visit, and unfortunately, it will probably be our last. Our waitress was very friendly and provided good service, but for the prices they charge, I would rather eat at places like Tu Jalisco or La Costa in Oakley, Guadalajara Taqueria, Taqueria Salsa, or Las Fodongas in Antioch.

The Owners/Hosts were courteous and sat us right away. We ordered the 20 Ribeye's both. Sides of creamed spinach and Brussel sprouts and two salads, one Caesar and one house. Also cream of mushroom soup. Presentation was spectacular. The salads were crisp and garnished with edible orchids. The soup was creamy and soothing. We chose, at the suggestion of our host the Bowtie Petite Syrah from the Macaully Estate Winery. Delicious, perfect temperature. The steaks were cooked perfect to medium. The rub was spiced right, and no steak sauce was even pondered. We topped it off with the New York Cheesecake and even though one of the Blueberries sadly fell off the table during the mandatory photo session, it did not hold it against us. Blueberries are naturally sad by comedy nature, so it held it martyrdom with pride. We will go back. We will recommend. We will try with all our might to save and ingest both blueberries on the next excursion. So help us God.
