Great evening and can't recommend the food enough! Beautiful spot near COC. Started with a gorgeous bourbon cocktail and burrata with beets appetizer. Appetizer was delicious and the cocktail was exceptional. For dinner I had the braised lamb and it was perfectly cooked. Our waitress was very attentive and extremely friendly. I came in with a group of 10 on a Thursday night. We reserved here because the atmosphere and food looked amazing. While we were here it was pretty empty but we sat outside and the atmosphere was great. The service though wasn't great. We were informed that we could only split up 4 ways, so we assumed that meant grouped up any 4 ways we wanted. We talked about this in front of the served and told him how we wanted it grouped. He happily agreed and continued to take our order. Drinks and food took a very long time (for a very empty restaurant). The food was good, but not for the price. The bill ended up only being able to split 4 ways even (for college kids like us this isn't ideal). If you are looking for a nice dinner I wouldn't suggest Coterie. There are some great places in Charleston that you can get amazing food for the same price! read more

The ambiance was great here, and I was very happy with the speed and thoroughness of service. I wasn't as impressed with the flavor profile of the cocktails, especially for the price. The vegetarian entree was just okay- a mix of raw and cooked vegetables with baba ghanoush. It would have been a good appetizer, but definitely not worth over $20. Maybe the seafood was better. I was attending a monthly meet-up and just arriving at the entrance sets your mood. Located off the hustle and bustle of King Street sits this hidden gem in downtown Charleston. Their warm, inviting space features an outdoor bar, surrounded by lush greenery, and warm string lights creating such a magical and relaxing vibe. There is outdoor dining on their covered patio which is great for any season. Heaters to keep you warm in the winter and fans to cool off those hot summers. We started the evening with drinks and laughter. Saquan and Riley we're shaking things up and keeping our palates wet with their beautifully crafted cocktails. You should definitely try 'New Best Friend' it was light and refreshing. For dinner I ordered the Flounder with a rutabaga puree, pecan crumble, olive, and tarragon sauce. Delish!!! Paired it with a Negroni to end my evening. After seeing other bites that were ordered, I know I'll be returning again soon. I most definitely want to try the Beef Tartare with blue crab, caviar, and champagne sauce and the Scallop Ceviche. You'll have to check them out for yourself to experience the harmony of flavors dancing on your palate. The service is always friendly and they make you feel like family. Sip sip hooray! They have released some new cocktails, and these are delicious fun and flavor forward. When is the Caprese martini and it is savory and taste like a yummy ripe tomato simply delicious. I love a sip with a bite so bonus points because there's cheese as a garnish. They also have a cocktail called Roots & Rituals it has Lemoncello and it's delicious. I feel like it taste like Summer would taste. It's good and cool and citrusy. Then there's 100 years later that comes as a total smoke show and we love an experience with a cocktail.Its rich and Smokey and I am all about it. The bartenders there are so fun and engaging. This is a perfect place to go at night. it's outdoor patio with lights throughout it gives garden vibes and it's the perfect place to have a summer night out in the city. read more

Mother's Day Brunch at Lark at Coterie. Cute little restaurant downtown that's deceivingly bigger on the inside than expected. Cinnamon bun was a hit! Kids ate the grilled ham and cheese on sour dough bread and both finished the whole thing. Justin and I both had the steak and sunny side up with potatoes. Yum. Very good flavor! I was able to get mine Gluten Free. They finished it off with the strawberries/cream/ice cream. After walking we came across Republic Ice Cream shop with a sign "Gluten Free waffle cones" so it was a must for me! Last stop - Half Moon Boutique. I would never have known this store existed if it wasn't for someone drying off the stairs. My friend & I were in town for a girls trip and stumbled upon Coterie on Insta - the patio captured our attention & we booked dinner for a Saturday night. We saw the Yelp rating later & got a little nervous but even the low star ratings said the food was delicious so we stayed the course. Service was impeccable, we sat at the bar while we waited for our table (we were early!) & the bartender made excellent recommendations. The food was some of the best I've had (and Charleston is know for their food!). Order the grilled cheese app & the burnt cheesecake for dessert. Sit on the patio. Drink the cocktails. First off, the food is delicious - portion sizes are spot on and everything is perfectly seasoned and composed well. Good wine list and a deep bar of both creative cocktails and well made classics. The service, however, left a lot to be desired... Upon ordering we were told that "plates would come out as they are ready". For a tapas place like Malagon (five stars IMO) that is to be expected, however for French food, that's atypical to say the least...we were prepared to deal with that given the warning but that was not how F&B were presented. There were several lapses in service, from beverages never manifesting, plates and empty cocktail glasses never being cleared and ultimately entrees being served tepid,which was extremely disappointing...we were looking forward to desert and didn't want to chance further disappointment at the end of the meal. Everyone in FoH seems quite capable of good service and yet it somehow eluded them despite the restaurant being less than half full at 7:30 on a Saturday night. FoH can all do better - socialize less and FOCUS on your guests, not your friends or each other. The chef and BoH deserves that level of respect from you - if you can't prioritize service then work at a restaurant serving Sysco food, not a diamond cast into the rough by shoddy service, like Lark at Coterie. read more

Horrible owners ! They were effusive yet combative and so passive aggressive it was so uncomfortable. We showed up at 7:25 for a 7:30 reservation and weren't sat until 7:50. One of our party was missing because she graduated that day. We weren't informed we wouldn't be sat until she arrived- until the end of the meal when they tried to use her 15 minute absence as an excuse for the delay in service. We sat at 7:50. Our order was taken at 8:30. Our first item of food came at 9:10. The food was excellent but when we explained that we expected our food to come out maybe 20 minutes earlier they tried to blame the kitchen. It was not the kitchen nor the servers fault. It was management. We left at 10:22. The food was excellent but it's not worth it for the hostile vibes from the owners. I expected an hour and a half to two hours spent at dinner and it took three. Had a party of seven, six adults, one well-behaved 5 yo. European portions. While, ultimately, our waitress was nice enough, she checked on us once, never offered a drink refill. We had to ask twice for a glass of water for one neglected party at the table. Another ordered a drink from the head bartender who came to our table for drink orders. Waited quite some time for it. Was determined not to ask for it a third time. The waitress finally delivered it and told us it would be comped. After reading the Internet hype around this place, it was a real letdown. Happily, we were in good company because otherwise it would've been a very expensive and mediocre evening. Was really looking forward to the lemon meringue dessert but opted not to order it because not one of us was interested in waiting around for another 45 minutes. Went to Jeni's instead. All in all, there are too many great restaurants in Charleston who do a far better job to ever return to this place. The food was good, but there's a whole lot more to an evening at a restaurant than good food. How about not frustrating the diners by acting like they're really not all that important to you? read more
