Food was just ok. Had the Cobb salad and bacon was completely undercooked. The carnitas quesadilla however was quite tasty. The biggest drawback was the group of little league kids that came in with their parents. They were incredibly noisy, were improperly issuing the pool table and playing with the pool cues like they were swords.... There's plenty of TVs all around to watch games and the service during my visit was great. A couple of my friends and I came to this place to watch some soccer games. There was a lot going on that day so we got there a little early to secure our table. Started with a Bloody Mary and ordered some poutine on tater tots for the table, and I ordered some bangers and mash for myself. I substituted the fries for the mashed potatoes. The rest of my meal and time there I switched over to Guinness. I thought the food was actually good. I don't think I ever had English style sausages, but I thought they were delicious. I also love french fries so definitely no complaints there. It was my first time trying the HP sauce as well with my food. Definitely a great place to watch soccer matches. I would assume that it's a great place to watch other sports during the football season, etc. it's a fun and lively atmosphere there for sure without being overly crazy. Parking could be a challenge since it is near the Hermosa pier, but there is a little bit of parking in the lot in the back. Fun, friendly, and made me feel like I'd been a regular for years. It was the perfect post-brunch pit stop... dimly lit, great music, and strong-ass drinks. Speaking of drinks: I (okay, Cindy did) found my new go-to dive bar cocktail--vodka, soda, splash of cranberry and a splash of pineapple. You know what they say about pineapple... wink. We found this spot while looking for a pub to try in Hermosa Beach. It is in an out of the way location, so unless you are local you'll need something to prompt you to go there (google search). I often like off the beaten path venues. It was very easy to find my level of comfort in this place, just a classic neighborhood pub feel. The menu items all sounded tempting, but i happened to come on the $1 wing night so i had to try them of course! To be candid, the wings were neither horrible or spectacular- somewhere dead center. While i stand by the fact that this would seem to be a great after work gathering place, their grog was pretty expensive. Even for a non beach front property the drink prices were pretty much the same as the other places in this town.....too expensive for the venue. Service behind the bar was good as the bartender was affable. Great place to hang if you are a local I imagine. Unfortunately I don't live near here so it may be awhile before i can come back and try again. read more

Went here for a retirement party. I did not eat but just drank. Assorted selections of IPA and Draft domestic beer. Bartenders were very nice and are attentive to your needs, which is definitely a plus! Good fun sport's ambiance. TVs are everywhere along with 2 pool tables and dart games. This place is hidden. Pretty cool kickback spot to hang out. I recommend. 4 stars only since I did not taste their food provided on the menu. Had a great time! read more

So disappointed with this spot. First it was stuffy and hot in there, the climate is uncomfortable to sit in. Staff was not super attentive, had to constantly get up and ask for things. We got the mother of god burger. Was SO SO greasy. Obviously a burger in general is greasy but it was OVERKILL with the grease. Also had too many ingredients stuffed in it made it hard to eat and so messy to eat. The only thing that was good was with citrus aioli and the fries both regular and sweet potato. Will not be coming back here. Was a waste of calories. My man and i are both bummed we spent our calories here, burger was average at best. Huge disappointment. read more

I absolutely love The Underground! it is my go to when I want to watch an important sports match, especially The Champions League, the vibes are amazing with many different people who also love sports and are there to have a good time, it's always fun interacting with them. The service is also really good, the waiters and waitresses always constantly ask you if you need anything which is very generous of them. And don't even get me started on the food, it is absolutely fantastic, they have my favorite wings, I also always order the cheesesteak with Chicken, Grilled Onions, and American Cheese and it is phenomenal in my honest opinion. The bartender is also very cool, one time after a match some guy in the restaurant was talking way too much trash, more than what was necessary, and the bartender had our backs and told the guy to stop or he was going to get kicked out, I really appreciated that a lot. overall, if you want to watch a big sports match that your favorite team is playing in and have a good time, and meet different kinds of people, definitely check this place out! read more

The food, service, and staff are amazing! They have pool tables, dart boards, and a shuffle board table. Who could ask for anything more? The ambiance is exactly that of an English pub. Old school bar obviously run by Brits. We went there with a friend to play pool and have a few beers. This area gets pretty crowded on the weekend but the bar was pretty empty. The entrance is tucked in off an alley and hidden from the majority of curious eyes. We were there during the time when the state was easing the COVID-19 regulations and the rules were that we had to wear a mask sitting but we were allowed have the mask off while playing pool. This obnoxious guy at the bar kept giving me warnings even though there were no people around us. The service was also lacked and all equipment was run down. Like there is not a direction one can face in this bar without seeing a screen broadcasting and some are just showing the same Disneyland commercial on repeat. Definitely not like the pubs of yor. Beer lines may need cleaning as the beer tasted a bit off. Food was typical pub fare and as Immortan Joe might say, "Mediocre." I never thought a cheesesteak could be bland! That said, this seems like it would be a fun place for an after work social or to get a game of darts going. A hidden gem and a cool retreat at lunchtime. Hands down the best onion rings I have had in a long time. The batter was crunchy and the onions inside were perfectly cooked; I think they deskinned the rings because nothing slid out to burn my hands when I bit into them. Granted not everything on the menu is amazing but the steak dinner $12.95 on Thursday and the spaghetti dinner $7.95 (all you can eat) on Sunday is always consistently good and the pricing is affordable. Taco Tuesday is a good price for inexpensive food but don't get the fish tacos! Trust me! Stick with the carnitas or steak. They serve them in flour tortillas NOT corn so consider yourself warned. Also a pile of shredded lettuce on top. If you go before all the loud obnoxious drunk people fill the place up it's not a bad place at all. I think it gets a bad rap for that reason. The employees are super friendly and I give them props for some of the behaviors they have to deal with on the daily. Lots of locals go there for the pool tables and darts. I went to this bar for my first ever bar crawl (newly 21 for context) ... The bouncer checks my ID with a UV light and immediately starts screaming at me, telling me my drivers license is a fake. He fully yelled at me for over a minute, despite the fact that my ID is real. Of course he gave it back to me because I suspect he wasn't entirely sure it was a fake. This the best place to dance in hermosa beach! No matter where my friends and I start in Hermosa, one way or another, we always end up at the underground. Sometimes the bartenders and bouncers can be a little rude which is the only reason I gave this review 4 stars instead of five but I have never had a problem getting in or getting drinks. I was en route to Hermosa Beach to meet up with an old buddy of mine. He suggested this place, which was a few blocks from where he lives. We drove over here, and fortunately there was a lot adjacent to this bar. There is a time limit to the parking lot, so don't plan on parking here all day if you come here. The bar is pretty cool. It has three pool tables, a few dart boards, and a shuffleboard table. We played a few rounds of billiards, then played a bit on the shuffleboard. I ordered some black coffee, of which I drank about five cups. I know, typical of me. I also ordered some whiskey with club soda. The bartender was pretty cool. She took good care of us, and made sure my coffee was always full. She did a good job with our drinks, and processed our orders in a timely manner.
