    Inside - lots of TVs

4+ British style pub located in Hermosa Beach a couple blocks away from the pier. Great selection of beers and spirits for your drinking needs. The menu is what you might expect at a British pub. There's plenty of TVs all around to watch games and the service during my visit was great. A couple of my friends and I came to this place to watch some soccer games. There was a lot going on that day so we got there a little early to secure our table. Started with a Bloody Mary and ordered some poutine on tater tots for the table, and I ordered some bangers and mash for myself. I substituted the fries for the mashed potatoes. The rest of my meal and time there I switched over to Guinness. I thought the food was actually good. I don't think I ever had English style sausages, but I thought they were delicious. I also love french fries so definitely no complaints there. It was my first time trying the HP sauce as well with my food. Definitely a great place to watch soccer matches. I would assume that it's a great place to watch other sports during the football season, etc. it's a fun and lively atmosphere there for sure without being overly crazy. Parking could be a challenge since it is near the Hermosa pier, but there is a little bit of parking in the lot in the back. We came early on Sunday so it was a little less hectic around the neighborhood.

I honestly don't know how yesterday was my first time at Underground Pub--but it definitely won't be my last. Cindy behind the bar? Total vibe. Fun, friendly, and made me feel like I'd been a regular for years. It was the perfect post-brunch pit stop... dimly lit, great music, and strong-ass drinks. Speaking of drinks: I (okay, Cindy did) found my new go-to dive bar cocktail--vodka, soda, splash of cranberry and a splash of pineapple. You know what they say about pineapple... wink. The food looked way better than you'd expect from a neighborhood pub--next time, I'm absolutely trying it. Cheap. Sexy. Strong. Just how I like my cocktails and my dive bars. Already plotting my return, Underground.

Bartender was very nice and we enjoyed the food. They still need some British beers but the beers they do have are decent.

    $1 Wing night!

We found this spot while looking for a pub to try in Hermosa Beach. It is in an out of the way location, so unless you are local you'll need something to prompt you to go there (google search). I often like off the beaten path venues. It was very easy to find my level of comfort in this place, just a classic neighborhood pub feel. The menu items all sounded tempting, but i happened to come on the $1 wing night so i had to try them of course! To be candid, the wings were neither horrible or spectacular- somewhere dead center. While i stand by the fact that this would seem to be a great after work gathering place, their grog was pretty expensive. Even for a non beach front property the drink prices were pretty much the same as the other places in this town.....too expensive for the venue. Service behind the bar was good as the bartender was affable. Great place to hang if you are a local I imagine. Unfortunately I don't live near here so it may be awhile before i can come back and try again.

Went here for a retirement party. I did not eat but just drank. Assorted selections of IPA and Draft domestic beer. Bartenders were very nice and are attentive to your needs, which is definitely a plus! Good fun sport's ambiance. TVs are everywhere along with 2 pool tables and dart games. This place is hidden. Pretty cool kickback spot to hang out. I recommend. 4 stars only since I did not taste their food provided on the menu. Had a great time!

So disappointed with this spot. First it was stuffy and hot in there, the climate is uncomfortable to sit in. Staff was not super attentive, had to constantly get up and ask for things. We got the mother of god burger. Was SO SO greasy. Obviously a burger in general is greasy but it was OVERKILL with the grease. Also had too many ingredients stuffed in it made it hard to eat and so messy to eat. The only thing that was good was with citrus aioli and the fries both regular and sweet potato. Will not be coming back here. Was a waste of calories. My man and i are both bummed we spent our calories here, burger was average at best. Huge disappointment.

The food and service are so great! Sarah is our favorite server! Perfect place for a casual dinner or bar food with pool and darts! Philly cheesesteaks are amazing and the steaks are out of this world! A ton of TVs for all sport games.

The food, service, and staff are amazing! They have pool tables, dart boards, and a shuffle board table. Who could ask for anything more? The ambiance is exactly that of an English pub. They always play soccer (I mean football) games, and often open early for them. The beer and liquor selection is on point, and they have some of the best bar food in town (think elevated bar food). Just a really nice place to grab a drink and food, and if you're lucky you might even catch the ghost of George Best!

Old school bar obviously run by Brits. We went there with a friend to play pool and have a few beers. This area gets pretty crowded on the weekend but the bar was pretty empty. The entrance is tucked in off an alley and hidden from the majority of curious eyes. We were there during the time when the state was easing the COVID-19 regulations and the rules were that we had to wear a mask sitting but we were allowed have the mask off while playing pool. This obnoxious guy at the bar kept giving me warnings even though there were no people around us. The service was also lacked and all equipment was run down. All in all I just didn't jive with the vibe.

Ask the Community - Underground Pub and Grill

What is the cost range of the alcohol?

We are very competitive compared to other bars and restaurants in Hermosa. The range is quite wide because we have everything from domestic beer to high-end liquors.

Do u allow small dogs on Sunday afternoon?

Unfortunately, although we are an English Pub we are not in England and must follow local health regulations. Consequently we allow on-duty service dogs only.

Is Chelsea's side done for good?

Chelsea has transformed into Fox and Farrow. For more info here's the website https://www.foxandfarrow.com/

Can I bring my younger brother who's 20 to watch the euros ? Or does he need to be 21 to enter?

Minors are generally allowed when the kitchen is open. So, during most soccer events they are allowed.

Will you be showing any world cup rugby matches?

Hi. Unfortunately most of the games are either in the middle of the night or PPV or both. We do show the 10pm games that are broadcasted.

Will you be showing Ireland vs Japan next week?

Unfortunately not as the game starts about an hour before we have to close.

Will you be showing SA v Argintina today?

Unfortunately it is only available through streaming.

Will you have World Cup of Cricket viewing?

Sorry, we will not be able to show the games as they are available only on streaming services which do not allow for commercial viewing.

Hi are you showing the All Black Argentina game today?

Hi. Unfortunately that game is on ESPN+, which we do not have but we are getting it next week.

It had no flavor whatsoever. All that saved it was the cowboy burger was pretty decent, and they have good quality of bacon... Overall, I was not happy with this experience and I am not sure I will be returning.

What made this bar cool is Sandra, la Reina de Moctezuma as she refers to herself. Breezy, lively, nonchalante, a bit coquettish to the "right guy", socially charming to her other guests. She creates her own story line to create her aura & drama. Author John Rechy, if he were straight, would have featured Miz Sandra in one of his novels like the City of Night. Ordered a pint of Guinness & Harp combination, but I didn't call it a "black & tan" in an Irish pub for historical reasons. But Sandra told me they don't have Harp, and suggested I do a Snake Bite instead which is half Guinness & Hard Cider. I opted for just Guinness since I wasn't in an experimental mood. Later, she was kind enough to let me sample a shot of the Strong Bow Hard Cider which was smooth, sweet, acidic with actual sour apple flavour. Next time I'll have to order the Snake Bite. Don't know how exactly Irish Sly Fox is with its grunge-garage rock music. But it's a good, unpretentious, local hang out. And of course, there's Sandra, la Reina de Moctezuma who is worth the visit. 4- stars

I chose the non alcoholic since I had a drive ahead. I was told it might not be cold enough and the server brought me the bottle to sample it by touch. I cheerfully noted Germans don't drink very cold beer and it was fine. My wife and I ordered schnitzels, she chicken and I pork. She had the Oma's potato salad - which with mustard and mayo really would not have passed muster with a real Oma like mine. She reported it was good anyway. I had spaetzle and cucumber dill salad. The kids both had a bratwurst, salad and fries. On the whole the schnitzels were good. Not entirely authentic but USA-good enough. I'd say the same for my spaetzle and salad. One kid liked the bratwurst, one didn't. I found what I tried of the sausage to be pretty good. The stone ground mustard was particularly good. Service was a little slow to start but the food came quickly and we were off. A 4.2 rounds to a flat 4. German food is hard to come by anywhere, so I welcome it. Especially with a good selection of beer. They serve multiple sizes included a liter "mass." Sounds great but I think those days are behind me. Definitely worth a try.
