    Walking into the Undertow

Great little bar, cheap drinks and live music! This is a 3am bar, they have live music from 10pm-2am, and serve food till 2am! Drinks are good and very reasonable, and there are two pool tables! Only reason I gave 4 stars is this is a smoking bar....not a big deal, just not a plus for me...

Unfortunately, I'm leaving this one star review, as much as I don't want to. We sat at a table and after waiting 15 minutes we weren't greeted or our order taken even though the bartender saw us walking through the door. We came for the food and the drinks after reading others' reviews but we left hungry and thirsty. Very disappointing.

When looking for the best deal in all, you can eat Royal Reds. Be sure to check out The Undertow to satisfy your cravings. Occurring Saturday and Sunday, their shrimp buffet offers roasted corn potato's sausage & plenty of that delicious shrimp all for $10. Throughout the week be sure to check out events & specials offering live bands Karaoke & Texas Hold'em or rack'em up for a game of pool. Come for the food, stay for the fun here at The Undertow.   This is a favorite spot when it comes to enjoying a few cold ones with family and friends or to enjoy a few events & a variety of entertainment offered here. As mentioned in my short intro, I enjoy their all you can eat special on the weekends. Finding their shrimp hit or miss at times while snowbird season is happening the chef attempts keeping pace with crowd & with the volume they forget to restock on occasion. I suggest going early to get it fresh & moist. Their servers and bartender are some of the greatest people you'll ever meet, excellent attitudes, friendly & laid back.    As quick I was going through copious amounts of shrimp sausage corn & gallons of butter & cocktail sauce they made sure my table is spacious for additional carnage & made sure I didn't spend 1 moment thirsty keeping my drinks filled. When it comes to their pool tables, there's not much to say as their tables felted perfectly no uneven-ness with the table cue's seem perfect, but I enjoy a good pool game after a hardy meal. This has been an excellent visit & so excited to come back again another weekend for their Poker (My favorite hobby) Karaoke live music & indulge again in eating all you can eat shrimp  Be sure to like them on FB & tell a friend. Best reuben around! Bartender/server Mack is phenomenal! As is bartender Jeramy! Great place to be yourself. Have a brew, watch some football, play pool, smoke your vape or cigar. Vape shop on site. I love coming here. Great laid-back local atmosphere.

Amazing service, great wings, good burger, no cheese on the loaded fries which was super disappointing.

All you can eat crawfish boil

This place is definitely a must try. They had a all you can eat crawfish boil. The manager stated that they will start having these on a weekly basis. 20$ all you can eat crawfish with all the fixins. Best crawfish I ever had state to state by far. If you happen to be in gulf shore area must stop by there.. smoker friendly and live music... Win!!!

Under Tow Grill. Local hole-in-wall. Great prices and food. Royal Reds All you can eat, Sat and Sunday. $15.99. Giant outdoor area.
    Gregg H.

A great find. Local bar and grill with reasonable prices. Fresh dip was big enough for 2. Friendly staff and all you can eat Royal Reds Sat and Sun for $15.99.

ATMOSPHERE Nothing too special about the atmosphere here. I just love that. It was nice clean open area with large windows and plenty of seating and easy to get around. Love that pimento cheese ball appetizer with that blueberry pepper jelly! For lunch, I had the meat and three. It was all good, especially the collard greens. SERVICE THIS WAS MAYBE SOME OF THE BEST SERVICE I HAD THE WHOLE TIME I WAS IN ORANGE BEACH THIS WEEKEND. OUR SERVER WAS SO AMAZING. I HATE THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER HER NAME, BUT SHE WAS ON TOP OF IT AND SUPER DELIGHTFUL. DRINKS The bar area looked really nice. Most of my table had iced tea which everybody enjoyed. I also got a beer from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I was very impressed by their beer selection and they are a verified venue on the Untappd app so you can go to that app to look at all the beer selection and even filter and sort the beers so that you can have an easier time selecting the proper beverage. It even came out in a glass that matched the beer that I had! I like that extra touch.

But it was brought with the meal. The salad was fresh and crisp, with a surprise of a small Peppa dew pepper. Blazing red with a little heat and delicious. Haven't seen them in a restaurant ever. Unfortunately my fish and potatoes were cold, cold and butter congealed. The greens were warm and good I had also ordered the cornbread. It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. Maybe when I return things will be better.

It can be hit or miss depending on what you order however, we have been enough to know and share with others what to order and what to stay away from. The following is from our most recent visit. We began the meal with a Cosmo and a Fairhope Brewery Blue Steel Sour. Both were very good. The Blue Steel sour has notes of blueberry. For an appetizer we ordered the cheese dip. It consist of three cheeses, including Gruyere, which is one of our favorites. The cheese also comes with feta cheese and a tomato relish over the top, which we find very good. It makes the cheese dip a little different than others. The tomatoes are very soft and the relish is on the sweeter side. My Wife got the chicken roulade. It was okay. The chicken was good however, it is wrapped in bacon and flash fried. In our opinion the flash fry isn't needed and it adds the risk of the bacon being overdone or burnt, which is what happened. The Parmesan risotto was a little gummy but had good flavor. The cream sauce that accompanied the dish was probably the best part. I got the fish sandwich and upgraded from sheepshead to grouper. You can get it fried, blackened or grilled. I chose grilled and it was really good. It was not the first time I have gotten the fish sandwich. The bun is a sourdough/Hawaiian roll hybrid. I got an order of fries to go with the fish sandwich. Their fries are really really. They're slightly battered and crunchy. Very good with ketchup or tartar sauce or both! If you visit I would suggest sticking to the fish sandwich, burger or fish dish (grilled/blackened) that comes with a cream based sauce. Their drinks and beer is selection really good as well. Most of the time on weekends they have live music if that's your kind of thing.

Yum! The ranch was good too - if like ranch then you know how different they can be - this was the good ranch! My husband got the pork chop & he said it was really good! My son got the creole linguini pasta & said it was great. It looked to be well seasoned & packed full of flavor! I forgot to get a picture of his. While I don't have any little kids, they did have a neat little play area for them with sand. Outside bar (the drinks were a little pricey in my opinion, my husband's small margarita was like $15 - I stuck to tea lol. They have a nice long dock that you can walk out on, the sunset was pretty. The waitstaff was nice, the only thing I'd suggest is for the host staff to be a little more welcoming & friendly. I know they probably get tired of the lines of people & having to repeat the same thing over & over but I'm sure most everyone they encounter is experiencing that establishment for the first time. First impressions are so important & your staff can make or break you. Luckily, the food is so good that I could overlook that in this case. I'd definitely recommend this place!

We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. The place itself is gorgeous. The setting is fantastic. You walk in thinking, "Okay, this is going to be a great experience." Then somewhere between the host stand and the check, things begin to unravel. Today finally pushed me into Yelp-review territory. We stopped in around 1 p.m. on a slow Sunday. The hostesses were gathered around the stand chatting like somebody had just dropped screenshots from the group text. The person who eventually greeted us was wearing dark sunglasses inside, which was certainly a choice. Not exactly the polished first impression you expect from a restaurant charging these prices. Once seated, things didn't improve much. Our server struggled to explain the specials, answer basic menu questions, or really seem familiar with what the restaurant was serving. Again, if I'm paying Zeke's prices, I'm expecting something slightly more polished than, "I thinnnnk that comes with..." Then the food arrived. One sandwich was specifically ordered without onions because of a food allergy. It arrived covered in onions. Another meal was supposed to come with Brussels sprouts. It arrived with fries instead. Our server disappeared for about 15 minutes after the food was dropped, so by the time she came back, we were nearly finished eating and in need of refills. I mentioned the missing Brussels sprouts and was told they'd be "right out." The Brussels sprouts were not right out. In fact, the Brussels sprouts apparently entered the witness protection program because we never saw them again. Neither did our server. Eventually she returned with the checks, seemed surprised that the Brussels sprouts had never arrived, removed them from the bill, and otherwise appeared remarkably unconcerned that the meal had been wrong from beginning to end. And that's really my issue with Zeke's. Restaurants have off days. Kitchens make mistakes. Servers forget things. I get it. But when you're charging premium prices, service should be the easy part to get right... and after multiple visits, Zeke's consistently misses the mark. At this point, I'll spend my local dollars elsewhere. And if you're visiting from out of town, just know what you're getting into: the view may be beautiful, but there's a decent chance your wallet will leave considerably lighter while you're still wondering whatever happened to your Brussels sprouts.

I drove two hours just to try Avenue Pub. I had never heard of the restaurant before and only…read morediscovered it through a Facebook post, but it was absolutely worth the drive. The first thing that impressed me was the ample parking. The restaurant also has a small private beach area for customers, along with a great bar area overlooking the water. The property is handicap accessible with both ramps and stairs, making it easy for everyone to enjoy. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Assistant Manager Taylor. He made me feel extremely welcome and even recommended a lunch item from the menu. I took his advice and ordered the Pork Ribeye Sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. On the side, I had a salad with their homemade ranch dressing. Without a doubt, this is some of the best ranch dressing I have ever had. The bartender, Cody, was outstanding as well. I tried the Lime Margarita, Blackberry Mojito, and the Strawberry Basil drink. Every one of them was fantastic. You can tell this is a place that people genuinely enjoy working at. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the customers all seemed happy to be there. It's rare to find a restaurant that gets everything right, but Avenue Pub comes very close. If you're anywhere near Orange Beach, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back.
