Despite being located in a kid-centric mall, they don't have a kids menu. You used to be able to get a kids quesadilla and fries, but no longer. Instead you have to piece things together, with a semblance of half service and half "do it yourself," and the tables and chains looked like Chuck E. Cheese at closing time. When I was ordering a lemonade, I asked if I could get half lemonade, and the other half iced tea. They didn't understand, so I emphasized, half lemonade, half tea, and they then flatly told me, "We're going to give you a lemonade, and there's tea over there, so you can figure it out." Place is a chaotic mess, and I noticed a ton more people and families at the Spin across the hall, which I think we'll be joining next time. read more

I've been a fan of the avocado taco for years and to see it gone and the taco offerings severely slashed I was pretty sad. Grabbed lunch with some friends before a show on a Sunday. It was not busy and we walked up to the counter and ordered. I asked the cashier if the sides were split-able, intending to share with a friend who was ordering separately. I ordered my taco and he asked what I'd like for a side, which I thought meant it was included. My fault for not clarifying, but I ended up spending more and getting more food than I intended. This was an interesting visit! We had never been to this restaurant before, as we are from out of town. We lined up to order, and we placed our order. I will say it was the first place we could all happily order in just a few minutes. I had the surf-and-turf taco, my husband and son had a burger, and my daughter had a quesadilla. Unforked is one of our favorite healthy burger alternative spots in the KC area, but this location is just missing the mark. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt off--you could hear the kitchen staff arguing in the back, and it was clear they were severely understaffed. The cashier had to run back and forth between taking orders and making drinks, which meant long waits and cold food just sitting on the counter. To make matters worse, they have a habit of closing without notice on days they're supposed to be open, which makes it impossible to plan a visit. Overall, an unorganized mess with poor service. My wife found this place online and we stopped here for dinner before going to music theater upstairs. The girl who took our order, was very helpful and answered all of our questions. My wife got the chicken sandwich and ordered it mild heat level and she loved it. I ordered the double cheeseburger without the sauce and it was delicious once I put some mustard on it. I ordered one plus the sweet potato fries and a mango smoothie: the taco was ok, the fries bordered on inedible (raw in spots), and the smoothie tasted nothing like mango--I ended up throwing out more than half. I love unforked and loves seeing that they had hot chocolate at this weekend. They had offering of regular hot chocolate, as well as white hot chocolate with cover or fireball. I'd rather go to Fritz for a classic smash burger. I actually wanted tacos, but couldn't justify the price ($7 a taco?) so I changed my mind. The sweet potato fries were good and more fairly priced ($6.50) and I would've loved them except for the salt. Way too salty. The portion size was great and the sauce paired well except for salt content. Overall, there are better options at Crown Center, which I frequent. I asked for a courtesy cup and he first he said they didn't have any then he said they cost money. I asked how much a cup was and he said twenty cents. I told him I'd like one cup and he said well we don't have any. I said you're kidding. Then he said well I'd have to open a new package and I really don't want to do that. Unforked looks like it should be really good. Nice atmosphere, helpful and kind employees, and a fine food selection. However, after my second time, I wouldn't return or recommend. Both times I have been with a group and everyone got something different. Burgers, tacos, quesadilla, salads, chicken bowls. AND both times it has been disappointing. Some foods are pretty good (shout out to the sweet potato fries!! So good!), while other food is just plain bad. For example, the burgers both times are waaaaay too small for the price they charge and they are unimpressive. This last time, overcooked and bland. Honestly, McDonald's does a better burger. I was in Crown Center and found myself hungry for a snack, not a full-on meal, but something filling. There are quite a few options for a quick bite. However, I wanted to switch it up, so I went with Unforked, somewhere I don't eat often. It is next to Sheridans, a frozen custard place I do eat at often and is owned by them as well. It specializes in tacos and burgers, but my gripe here is the price of tacos. The burgers themselves are priced reasonably. Now, these tacos aren't small measly street tacos, but they also aren't gigantic monstrosities like I would prefer for paying nearly $7 per taco. The flavor profiles are interesting, and the meat selection is expansive. They have tacos that contain carnitas (my personal favorites), a few with tilapia (fried or grilled), and some with chicken and steak. Unforked also does a good job catering to the vegetarian crowd; one of my favorite burgers on the menu has been there since conception. The Thai Dye Burger is a mushroom burger. It's a fast casual establishment that uses the order at the counter system, and the food comes quickly. I wish I could give unforked a 4 star review but, the cheapa** in me just can't justify the prices for single tacos. Also, the elote queso is salty, sweet, creamy and dreamy, but I need some more for $8. When did melted cheese become do expensive?! read more

My partner ordered a quesadilla, which had a few bits of queso fresco but other than that no cheese. Not at all what you'd expect to get when you order a quesadilla. I ordered the impossible burger as I'm plant based, with modifications avocado, arugula no mayo ect... had to return to actually get the arugula added, but was good and I was satisfied. I had to go up 3 times to get my fries. I didn't want seasonings on them. Take away everything very fresh, so the entire party was happy with actual food. It may have been the hustle and bustle that's Crown Center during the holidays or just the amazing tacos that drew everyone in but I must say, this was a fantastic taco joint. Ordering was quick and easy via QR code or the menu that's provided while in line. Once you place your order, you can then find a table and place the placard where visible and the server will deliver your food fast and fresh. I ordered a mello jello lemonade, which is strawberry jello blended with lemonade and ice(yummy) and my husband had a honey limeade...which was a little more sour than sweet. This is just a small step above a McDonalds. What a disappointment. I had the pure burger and asked for it to be cooked medium rare with cheese. My friend got the same and neither of us got any cheese. They just took it back and slapped cheese on them. The fries were too thin and had an off taste to them. They only have boxed wine by the glass. The one star is for the good music playing.
