The cocktail menu was fun, with some genuinely funny drink names, and the happy hour deals were a great value. The fries were my favorite part of the meal--crispy and well seasoned. We decided to give this place another try and boy am I glad we did. We were first in the door for a 5 PM reservation on Sunday when they reopen after brunch. Our friends joined us and we again started with the Elote Tater Tots, which are a gift to mankind. They're truly awesome. My wife and I shared the Wagyu blue cheeseburger and had a side salad for each of us. It was delicious. Very good!! For dessert we ordered a chocolate torte and crème brûlée for the table to share. Both of them were very good. The crème brûlée might've been a bit better. This was a much improved experience from our last visit, where some of the items were either lacking flavor or way too salty. The service was great and patient. The menu was large but not overwhelming, lots of options for people with different needs. Quaint,, eclectic spot in a downtown neighborhood. The menu is specific but there are items for vegans and those sensitive to gluten. I had the fish and ships and a side of grilled chicken breast. The fish batter was well seasoned and the fish cooked well except one piece but the fixed that swiftly. My sister had the way gu burger with bacon and the fresh lemonade that she said was very good. It's been about 8 years (mind blown) so it's time for an update. I've been to The Westside Local twice recently, both times to catch up with friends, and both times I left just as wowed as I was upon my first visit back in 2018. The food here is great. Think elevated American fare, and yes I agree with myself from 8 years ago that the french fries are still amongst the best in town. On my last visit I pretty much just ate the fries and took my sandwich to go - fries just don't save well so I had to savor them. What pushes this into 5 star territory for me though is the wait staff. I've encountered a grumpy host here before and thought that the price tag was getting high, but all of that melts away when you have the top tier servers that work here. They are warm, friendly, and super helpful. Honestly the good service paired with the great food and warm ambiance and you have a winner. I'll be back! read more

A social media post about fish and chips got me. I had to visit for that reason alone. It was the first time I had been in a while. I always enjoy the food here. I've never had a bad meal. The fish and chips were very good. My wife and I wished we would have shared one order. The portions were very generous, and I did still clean my plate. Our server was really good. He made us laugh a few times. Laughs are always nice. I usually visit in late summer when BLTs are on the menu because they use some really tasty tomatoes. Taking a client out to lunch, he recommended we meet at The Westside Local. We got to the place 15 mins before opening and a line was already forming outside ( a good sign that it must be good). As we waited for our client, my colleague and I looked at their menu and decided on the Summit Burger and the Poblano & Jam burger but ask our server if they could cut in half and plate our halves in in each other plate, which they were happy to do. The burgers were delicious! I was informed that the menu have a several Farm to Table items, their farm was just beside the restaurant. Excellent restaurant with lots of vegetarian/vegan options served up by a super friendly and helpful staff. My sweet potato quinoa burger was very tasty. The best thing, though, may have been the crispy fried brussel sprouts appetizer our group shared. We started off all polite but by the time it got down to the final morsels, we were like a pack of snarling hyenas, fighting for that last bit of deliciousness. I don't know how or why but this is the best salad you can find in Kansas City. It's probably because all of their ingredients are brought in locally. The kale salad absolutely made me come back to this place. It has shaped Brussels, parmesan, almonds, fried shallot, bacon on top and a maple tahini dressing. I highly recommend getting it as your side. They also offer some amazing cocktails, my favorite was the high tea. This place was awesome! I was staying nearby for a work function and i met my coworker here the next day for lunch. This is nestled in one of the most charming areas of the West Bottoms area. Our server was awesome, super cute and friendly, offered some compliments to us both and recommended some apps. We ordered the brussels and they were absolutely fantstic. My friend and I almost duked it out of the last one. Truly some of the best, and I pride myself on having tried as many as I can in Omaha. Then onto the burger. HOLY COW (literally) this brisket burger came out looking like a G'dam steak! I was over the moon and my mouth was drooling. It was so juicy and flavordful, it was so freaking good. The fries are the thick and crispy and crusty type. They clearly make their own ketchup and it had a tangy-ness to it, I didn't LOVE it, but I liked it. Overall the staff was super sweet, and kind. I was craving a sweet potato burger and fries. I used to order this one all the time. So I placed a Togo order was told it's $24, then upon arrival it was $25. An extra fee if you use your card:/ I understand the cost of food has gone up but from a $14 to $25 is wild, along with random additional fees, help me further understand why a lot of businesses are going out of business. Price gouging. They have a few burgers on the menu. What goes with a burger..... fries, I would guess. Yet here I am spending an additional $2 for a side that is the norm all across America. Ok whatever. The food the burger was way smaller than what it used to be and my fries weren't crispy. I had to stick them in the oven for a few to bring them back to life and get them right. Did it taste the same, sure. But personally I'm done. Service was absolutely awful, we had a party of about 12 and spend well over $500 on the one bill they supposedly had to do with an added 20% tip added for the large group. The waiter seemed annoyed to be serving us and it seemed as if since he already was getting 20% of a 12 person order on one bill the customer service didn't seem to matter anymore. Added items on our bill that we did not order. Seemed as if we were in inconvenience to them. Told the owner thank you on the way out and he didn't even look up or acknowledge our group was leaving even after spending well over $500. Interesting... This was one of the worst restaurant experiences our group has ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Our waiter, Reece, was consistently rude throughout the entire evening. Every interaction with him felt like an inconvenience, and when placing our orders, he appeared annoyed and impatient. As a large party, we were also told that the bill could not be divided, which created frustration and inconvenience for our group. To make matters worse, our bill included charges for items that were never ordered. When we politely brought the error to Reece's attention, his attitude became even more hostile and unprofessional rather than attempting to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the manager was no better. We were not even aware he was the manager because when members of our party greeted him upon arrival and again when leaving, he simply stared at us and ignored us. We even wished him a good evening, and he refused to acknowledge us. Between the incorrect charges, the rude service, and the complete lack of professionalism from both the waiter and manager, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Stopped into Westside Local for a nightcap after having dinner nearby. My friends and I had the Espresso Martini, Aperol Spritz and a glass of White Wine. We did not make reservations for dining alfresco so we had a brief wait, but it was just enough time to check out the space. (Very cool!) They even displayed local art in the rustic brick walls.
