Let me start by saying the food is super delicious. I would have given the location 5 stars if the portion size was larger. Meaning, I shouldn't pay $9 for the Salsa Trio and only get 1 small bowl of chips. We had so much salsa left and no chips to eat it - without paying for a refill. Back to the rest of the amazing food. You must try the Elote Fritters. The elotes are shaped in a circle disc and lightly fried and topped with mayo, cotija cheese and tajin. We also ate the Carnita Empanadas, which has Coca-Cola braised pork shoulder. I ate the chicken enchiladas for the main entree. This has 3 small enchiladas that comes with flavorful rice and beans. Oh... the drinks! I tried the I Love Lucy. It has vodka, lime, strawberry puree and soda. The ingredients are simple, but the flavor was delicious and powerful. Unidad is a small dining location. There isn't a parking lot or valet, but there's a good amount of street parking; especially weeknights. It's best to make reservations through the website. I would definitely go back, possibly for happy hour and eat tacos. read more

It's a very clean and intimate setting on the inside. We wanted to sit outside but it was too cold. Once seated, we ordered drinks and noticed how service was severely delayed. We were finally able to order appetizers, and even that was slow to arrive. The Queso Fundido appetizer was delicious! I highly recommend it! I feel like Service would've been so much better if there was more than just one waiter for the entire dining room on a Saturday night! All customers seemed to be waiting for their food! Our reservation was at 7pm. The restaurant closes at 9pm. We didn't even have time to order entrees because everything was delayed (service and food) and we would basically be receiving entrées at the same time they close their doors. I ordered take out vegan tacos. Service was friendly. Cost was 20$ plus tax. The good: the ingredients were fresh, the beans and rice were delicious. The bad: the moisture from the veggies kind of made the tacos sloppy and messy. The guacamole was ok had so much lime I couldn't really taste the other ingredients in it. I might order from this place again. They do have great drinks so I'm sure I'll be back soon for a couple drinks. read more

The restaurant is small on the inside and has a large patio for alfresco dining when it's warm outside. The menu selections are all small plates. I was disappointed it didn't come with rice n beans but the plantains did suffice. The atmosphere is the selling point. Often these kind of Latin food places serve mediocre dishes just designed to go next to massive margaritas. Unidad is not that kind of place. We moved into the area a little over a year ago (from the city) and we were SO happy to have found Unidad. The suburbs aren't really known for their dining experiences, but unidad is a gem in the middle of chain restaurants. The food and the ambiance are so good! It's our new meeting spot with friends. My favorite have been the birria tacos. My husbands family is from Jalisco so he KNOWS birria. He also loves Unidad's tacos. The carnitas tacos are also delicious! The burger is great and the chicken flautas are good. The cocktails never disappoint us! They make a damn good cocktail at fair prices. The borracho is a hit and I love the gin & jam. You can't go wrong with great conversations and Latin Food. UNIDAD provides the atmosphere and space for both. You have to try the Diablo Shrimp! It's spicy with just enough kick to wake up your taste buds. Even the House Made Churros with ice cream and Dulce de Leche was the perfect dessert dish to cool down the heat of the shrimp! Was a bit of a drive to get there from the burbs, but we were able to street park right in front of the restaurant. Small inside, but they do have covered outdoor seating too. We had reservations and opted to sit inside. The menu was a little different than what was posted online, but in a good way. Server was very friendly and helpful. Food was great. The only thing we had a long wait time on was our drinks. It was always about 20 mins from ordering to when they arrived. Had they been faster, we would have gotten more, but oh well. Frequent live music performances, Taco Tuesday specials, happy hour, and guest chef appearances, all amount to a hot spot in an intimate space. The birria tacos recently debuted on the menu and have quickly become the standout favorite for me. The portion sizes for dishes see my best for the price point, and I wish the tortillas didn't fall apart with a standard tacos. The arepas were delicious, my 4 yo ate almost all of the carnitas tacos, my 2 yo ate almost all of the espaguetis verde (it was a special and it was BOMB) and my husband had the chicken enchiladas and ate all of it. I've been late in visiting this restaurant. I've read the reviews, listen to friends and neighbors and Finally choose to visit. Well upon entering we were greeted and seated , probably because it was early Monday evening. Anyway let's get to the appetizers and drinks. The table ordered beef empanadas , corn fritters, fried calamari, cod & yuca. Absolutely delicious, the empanadas had great flavor with a herb sauce, the calamari and cod was alittle salty but good and the elote fritters were amazing. My entree was risotto with a 6ox hanger steak. The risotto was delicious, creamy, perfectly prepared however my steak was chewy but had good flavor. The rest of the table had chicken tacos and enchiladas and they loved it. The drinks are addicting so be careful and are server was good. I must say, my eyesight isn't the best so I had to ask which door was the men's rest room because I couldn't determine which door it was. Maybe some additional lighting in the hallway would help (me). Besides that I'll definitely be back. Shout out the the village of evergreen park for another great restaurant. read more

This place is great. The set up is cute. There's an outside patio too. They even have a small little "casino" area. The bathrooms were big, nice, & clean. The food was amazing!! The drinks were soooo good!!!! Our waitress was so nice & pleasant!! And was even giving us money saving tips on drinks! Long story short. I had been longing to go here for a while. As a birthday treat I decided to take the plunge. I went for lunch on a Friday and came back to Saturday for an early dinner on the patio. Kelly was my waitress both days, she is awesome and knowledgable about the menu, its ingredients and how its prepared. Trust her she knows her stuff. I have no idea when this little hidden gem came to exist but I'm upset I didn't know about it sooner! The patio is absolutely adorable and covered so you don't get overly hot even on a 90 degree day. Music isn't too loud but it makes you feel like you're in Mexico. The drinks were delicious and obviously crafted by a skilled bartender. Food was absolutely delicious, and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend the fried elote fritters. The portions are on the smaller side and the prices are on the higher side but this is obviously one of those places where you pay for what you get so I have no regrets. The waitress was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations, knew all the ingredients (important for people with food allergies) and was very prompt.
