If you're looking for a quality paint job DONT COME HERE!!! They told me 3 weeks to get my car done and it took over 6 months. Then after i got it back , the paint job was piss poor. They Had a paint guy come by to look at it at this shop where we both inspected it, he finds hella paint errors to be repainted that i pointed out, he agrees, then gets pulled aside by owner and talked to, then after that the guy all of a sudden became blind n didn't see the rest of them... hmmmm. I know everyone says this, but I H A T E writing reviews, even when service is abysmal. Anyway... I had some pretty extensive damage to my car that I had just purchased about 5 months prior. She is my baby, and it devastated me to see her looking the way she did, but every body shop I called had ridiculous wait times and requirements. Then, a friend recommended Union City Auto Body, and all I can say is WOW! Mike, Ivan, and the entire team were incredible, thorough, compassionate, and got my baby back to me in less than 3 weeks, even with parts being delayed due to Covid and a holiday weekend. I had $10,000+ in damages and they got my girl back looking like she had just come from the factory! Due to the type of car (Challenger) and some of the anti-theft features the manufacturer had implemented, I noticed that the engine light was on after I left the shop, so I called Ivan and went right back. He whipped out the computer immediately to help me, but realized that his equipment couldn't reset the system. He made a couple of calls and immediately found me someone (at Crown Tires & Auto Repair in Hayward; ask for Mo!) who had me come over right away, told me to pull the car up, hooked it up to the machine, and reset it so the light went off immediately. He noticed that I needed windshield wiper fluid so he also filled that without even being asked! If I'd had to go to the dealer, it would have cost me hundreds just for something that took Mo @ Crown 7-10 minutes, tops! I know this is long, but yea. DEFINITELY give these two shops a try because they are the business and I would/will recommend them to ANYONE! ***Edited to add: when I dropped my car off for the tear-down, Hertz didn't have anyone who could pick me up from the shop, and Ivan felt bad because I had left work early to get there before closing. So he asked me to wait a few minutes, and told me that he would drop me off on his way home. It was then that I knew I was in great hands, and it only got better from there! What a nice bunch of guys and great customer service at Union City Auto Body! When I backed out of a parking spot, my front bumper was over a cement tire stop and was partially ripped off in the process. I got an estimate from Ivan and then shopped around at two other body shops. I got the feeling that these other shops didn't want to bother with my small repair. One guy in Hayward advised me that it would cost more than twice what Ivan quoted and said I'd be better off going to his friend's junkyard to get a used bumper. Needless to say I went back to Union City. They finished the job in 1 day and even offered to give me a ride home since I lived close by. I was referred to this shop several years ago for auto body repairs, and was immensely pleased with the work and service I received. To this day, that car still looks great, receiving regular compliments and cash offers because of its body appearance and outstanding paint job. Recently, a newer car of mine suffered side damage after a collision and was in need of serious repairs. This shop is several miles from where I live now, but my past experience was memorable enough to drive the extra distance, and I am so happy that I did! Exemplary Service! The Best Care! Minivan was rear ended by a lady who was talking on her cell phone, in 2014. Yes, 5 years ago! Union City Auto Body changed the Lift Gate. Recently, the lift gate lock was intermittently malfunctioning. I decided to retrieve my 2014 receipt from Union City Auto Body and bring the vehicle back to try if they would still help. I found that they have new workers, as expected in this industry. I wasn't expecting that they would help me with the old issue. To my surprise and relief, the owner's son Ivan, turned out to be a very helpful and caring person. He politely offered to do a diagnostics for free! All I had to pay was the part that they would need to change. To make a long story short, Ivan ordered the part--Latch which was malfunctioning. I generally don't write reviews unless I am totally pissed off. Got my accord here for frontal repair. The final cost was 3 times the initial estimate. I had to keep calling these guys about the work completion which was delayed 4 times and its impossible to get hold of the in-charge here Mr. Mike. Nobody answers the office phone and Mike never responds/returns your call. I had to go to the shop and check with the mechanics the status of my repair every time. Finally the job quality was poor. The hood doesn't fit properly and grill fit is quite flimsy. It looks like these partners have their own problems and ultimately the customers are suffering. I don't know about other shops but would suggest everyone to avoid this place. read more

I took my car here to have my trunk painted. The paint job was very good. However, in the process, my rear windshield was scratched. They attempted to buff the scratch out which made it 10 times worst. As a body shop, how did they not know that buffing was not the solution. The shop gave me the run around and didn't return my calls as promised so I had to make numerous trips to catch someone there. This became very frustrating. They did offer to replace the windshield, however, my car is a well kept 2001, I am the only owner, and didn't want to take more risk. I was very fearful that if my windshield was replaced what other problems could occur since my original windshield is no longer available and an 'after market' windshield would have to be put in and the seals. I ask the manager, rather than take this risk, to reimburse me for the cost of the windshield and installation. He did not want to do this. Legally, he was only required to replace the windshield and I understood this. From a customer service business perspective I thought this would be the professional thing to do in the event something else got damaged. He offered me $100 to settle the matter. Because I didn't want any possible water damage to occur by replacing a 2001 rear windshield I reluctantly took the $100 which I felt was a very cheap resolution on the manager's part. read more

I have an old school 67 Mustang that was in need of a new paint job. The manager Erick was nice and knowledgeable. He had several samples of paint in his shop for me to see. I didn't see the color I wanted that day but he said he would send out some more samples I could review. It took a couple of days to get them in but he was right . It was perfect. My Honda Odyssey was rear ended on Jan. 8, 2014. The rear Lift Gate was smashed and needed a replacement. The front and rear bumpers were dented and needed repairs. The insurance of the car that hit me was willing to pay for the repairs. They recommended Cooks Collision in Fremont, so I took it in for an estimate. However, all they could do was a Preliminary Estimate because the Lift Gate could not be opened and they needed to inspect for internal damage. The earliest they could do it was 10 days after. I couldn't wait that long - I needed the car for driving my grandkids to school. They also warned me that their estimate was near the threshold for Total Wreck. So I called Union City Auto Body (and other shops) the next day which was a Saturday. Auto Body shops are normally closed on weekends. Only UCAB responded to my call, and the Manager, Mike, came in to inspect my car. This was one 'point plus' for them. Mike also told me that my car would not be Totaled. This is another point plus for them. He said it would take them only 3 days after replacement parts are received to repair the car. This is where the positives end. Like they say, "Promises are made to be broken". I took the car in the following Monday, Jan. 13, 2014. My understanding was it would take 2 weeks at the most to finish all repairs. On the 3rd week, I kept calling the shop and the reply was always "Tomorrow we will call you". Finally on Jan. 31, at 4 pm, they called to say my car was ready. Since they were to close at 4:30, I told them I would pick it up the next day, Saturday. Upon inspection the next day, some brake light lamps were not working, the dashboard control panel lights were not working properly and the remote alarm control was not in order. It took the Technician another 3 hours to make them work. I was hungry and tired at that time, so I agreed to take home the car. I was also told that one more part - the Lift Gate Panel was on order and expected to arrive in 5 days. I would have to be back in 5 days! Another promise to be broken! When I got home, I noticed that the Lift Gate could not be opened. Somehow it got stuck again. When I called Mike, he said to bring the car back on Monday. Another Back Job! Another 2 hrs wasted on Monday. On Feb. 7th, I started calling Mike about the unfinished Lift Gate Panel - no reply. Finally on Feb. 11th, the Receptionist, Mary, informed me that the part had arrived. It was finally installed today, Feb. 12, 2014. It took exactly 31 days, ONE WHOLE MONTH, for this repair. I hope this review will help future customers in deciding whether or not to bring their car to this place. read more

I had a door that needed replacing, and came here because it was conveniently located. However, they tried to scam me with a jacked up quoted price. They said the repair would take $1700, and even pretended that was a discounted price. Thankfully, I called around and got two other quotes, which came in at $1200 and $750. I ended up paying $750 at a shop just a couple of miles away. This place tried to charge me an extra $1000 above what I eventually paid. If there's one thing I find inexcusable, it's scamming your customers. Absolutely would not recommend. read more

The "union city auto body" is an example of good work yet no advertising or should I say no experience in Online Advertising . I was initially reluctant to take my car for body repair(after accident) to this place given lack of much review and its medium size. The big guys( suggested by insurance) showed so much attitude that I thought it is worth giving smaller players a chance. Lucky me I was in the right place .They turned out to be really good. I am really happy with the work done. I cannot distinguish anything on the car , such is the quality of job done.
