On my frist visit the office receptionist was very welcoming.Once I was brought to the back for X-rays the assistant Rose let me know all the step to my appointment. Which was very helpful. Once X-rays were done I didn't even wait 5 minutes. That's when Dr. Helen Hur viewed my X-rays and let me know I was taking Good care of my oral hygiene. She even did my cleaning on my first visit. Dr. Her is the best dentist I have had in decades. Over the last 6 years I have had nothing but bad experiences with dentists. For what ever reason it seems that dentists don't want to clean teeth. Multiple appointments I've made with other dentist for exactly that, but always walked away with my teeth not cleaned. During this same period I was trying to get needed crowns and extractions only to get either more consultations with another in house specialist and pressing for many other procedures and one wanting to pull 5 teeth then pushing for implants for tens of thousands of dollars worth of dental work. Caught several dentists using more expensive codes that weren't appropriate for the needed care. In one instance as the office manager was pressing to get something done that day, the price went from $850 down to $175. I mention these cases because I haven't experienced any of that with Dr. Her and the staff. Personally I think she needs to changed the name of the practice since the bad reviews from the group she purchased the practice from are, I believe, costing her customers. My first appointment, I got my teeth cleaned, just like times past. She explains the the treatment plan thoroughly and patiently listens and answers your questions. I now have 4 new crowns, she pressed for upgrade to white crowns explaining why, and I'm so happy I agreed to do so. They look so good. I will get 2 extractions, not five. Looking forward to getting all the issues I have resolved. They submit pre-authorizations, with exactly the codes I expected. Don't know anyone that loves going to the dentist, but I'm happy now knowing that the front desk isn't looking for commissions on upgraded sales. I don't get a surprise when I'm sitting in the chair. Dr. Her is very pleasant, gentle, and being of slight frame, isn't trying to get big hands into your mouth. Give Her a try. I had an appointment scheduled for today at 2:00 PM for my son. Not only was I called by the office the day prior to confirm his appointment, but I was also asked to come early. I believe in doing so, due to it being my son's first visit at this particular location, they wanted us to come in and fill out necessary first-time patient paperwork. I remember sitting down in their waiting room at about 1:24 PM. Upon entering the facility, no one was available at the front desk. We waited until 1:46 PM to call the office phones and unfortunately, no one answered. Still, no one had come to manage the front reception. I called the phones once again at 1:52 PM, and still, no answer. At about 1:58 PM, we decided to leave. I did not receive a call from their front desk until 2:20 PM. I admittedly did not answer. Who knows if a staff member had left the front desk unmanned until the time I received that phone call. That is almost an hour! Sadly, I will not be returning. I realize that staff need to take their lunches and breaks. I find it a bit strange and unprofessional that from 1:24 PM until 1:58 PM, not one soul had sat down at reception. I've been going to union dental for 4 years now, I haven't been consistent in the past with previous dentist's but I've noticed that ever since I've been going here my cavity problems have finally been at an all time low. Worst experience I've had. Appointments seem to be overbooked and provider is rushing through patients. I previously had a review up, but for some reason it was deleted. She purchased the business right before COVID hit and has been dealing with the failings of the previous owner Dr. Dang ever since. I would stay away from other Union Dental Offices. Dr. Dang owns the offices in Fremont, Oakland, Martinez, Novato & South San Fran. If I could give this place negative stars I would. By far the absolute worse service I have ever experienced. We paid for my son's braces in full. Two years later the orthodontist working out of their office quit. Braces were supposed to come off last month. New orthodontist says he will need another 6 months to a year. AND... the new ortho that Union referred us to is now going to start charging us for services! These people are a total rip off. I kept comparing about gum pain and was told that it was early stages of gingivitis. I was given a cleaning and told it would get better, a month later I'm back in with the same problem and was told the same thing. Changed to a different dentist to get a second opinion and was informed that I have periodontist and have lost 30% of bone so far. It could have been easily prevented if I was treated correctly, now I'm stuck paying bills for extra painful procedures I could have avoided and dealing with constant oral pain. Do not go here!!! I have been going here for 2 years now, and every time i go (once or twice a year) the experience has been VERY unpleasant! One time i go just for a clean up, and right then and there the Doctor decides to pull TWO of my wisdom teeth out one from each side!! They were not bothering me at all and she began numbing me and pulling them out. They did not give me a chance to prepare for it, like ask for days of from work or school to recover from it! The next time i went for another clean up, after they cleaned me up i asked them if they can put a filling in one of my chiped tooth. The assitant then goes over to the doctor that does it and she just grunted and was sighing the whole time, like being interrupted from chit chatting in the little break room was more important to her, very RUDE like if she was being forced to do it! She then did the procedure on me VERY quickly and rough on my tooth. She did a half ass work on it, did not polish the tooth and left it very rough, like she literally just glued it on and left! I complained about it but said i had to reschedule to get it fix and the next available appointment was not to a few months from then! The filling in a month chipped off which shows me even more the lack of dentistry that place has! Lastly, one day one of my wisdom tooth was bothering me so i scheduled to have it removed this time. When i went in it was a diffrent Doctor, a visiting doctor. When the procedure began they were having a hard time to pull it out, so they began to go all barbarian on it trying to viciously yank it out! Seeing that my tooth was very stubborn they decided to use a hammer on it and break it in half and then pull! They got it out but they made such a mess and the area would not stop pounding of pain! I made an appointment at Union Dental at 9 am. I show up to Union Dental at 8:55, the hours on the door say they open at 9, and no one was there. A lady comes running up to unlock the door at 9:02, and I was seen by 9:05. The dental assistant started complaining about how tired and sick she was in front of me which I thought was very unprofessional, and another lady who worked there said she looked hung over. I am a 17 year old, but I still thought it was unprofessional for the dental assistants to be talking like that in front of a patient. I was disappointed in the professional behavior of this place. Union Dental was able to fill two cavities I had on the spot which was cool, but be more professional please!! read more

One of the receptionist has poor performance. I've had to bring up about when to schedule my next appt for basic cleaning. Also had a bad experience when it came to getting a night guard replacement because I grind my teeth. Communication between the Doctor and support staff is bad. was told by the Doctor to speak to the front and they'll get me prices, but the front told me I have to get a recommendation first by the Doctor before they send an inquiry to my insurance to check if they can cover for it. Wasted about 2 weeks with the confusion of no notes on my record and it wasn't even sent out to inquire because the Receptionist claimed the Doctor had to give a recommendation. So far coming here for about a year and not very impressed with the staff. Really hope they improve in customer care. read more

No Stars!!! Waited EVERY time at least 20 minutes past my appointment- had cleanings twice- dr. H barely touched my teeth and did not floss my teeth . When I went in for cleaning and initial check -up. Dr. H is shoving the poker in my gums saying, 6, 9, 9, 7- all high numbers , which means your gums are receding and you have pockets...tells me my gums need to be sliced open, cleaned and stitched back up- I have a consult with the oral surgeon. I ask if my gums are already receding, how is this going to help? He has no answers. It's going to cost 1000's of dollars. I'm leery of these dentists so I go to another dentist near there. I do not tell her anything about the other dentist...GUESS WHAT?! My gums are Great! Ive done a great job keeping my gums healthy and clean!! read more

Dr. Aggie was the orthodontist who worked on my teeth originally. She said that I need to get my teeth extracted which was not necessary, I ended up getting 4 of my teeth removed. About a year later she ended up no longer working at this location and I was seen by Dr. Carmen, she's the worse orthodontist ever!! She does not care about her patient, the dental board should take her license away because lack of proper care & attention. My dentist was very concern about my teeth and recommended to go get a second opinion . I went to go see 3 different Ortho they all said my teeth are extremely caved in also are all injured I'm at risk to lose all my teeth. I ended up firing her and paid more money to go some where else to get my teeth fix. I do not recommend getting your braces done here. Go to a place that actually specializes in Ortho care only. read more

If only there were 0 stars. Went in for a crown for my chipped tooth (yes, there is a gaping hole in my tooth) and not only did she not notice until I physically pointed it out, she was about to proceed with a cleaning that I absolutely did not know about or consent to. They do everything for the money, and do not care about their duty as doctors at all. Horrible service and attitudes from both the staff and the dentist. Do yourself a major favor and never come here. Edit: if you are looking for a fantastic pediatric dentist, go to San Jose Dental Specialists on Lexann. Everyone there is AMAZING at not only his/her job, but also at making you feel like you are cared for, and that you are in good hands. They extend themselves to accommodate patients. All the doctors and technicians are very professional and helpful. Dr Her and Dr Nugyen are 1st class. Dr Low, Periodontist wants to make your teeth perfect. Dolce, the new Dental Technician on the block, is going to fit in perfectly. read more

Dr Dang (Specialist) is amazing!!! The Orthodontist is amazing too!! Receptionist are very friendly and they will work with you on a payment plan! Big sign in lobby says 48 hours notice required to not be charged. Received telephone reminder on Friday around 4 p.m. MLK birthday weekend for appointment following Tuesday. Called time and again letting ring many times within 15 minutes of call and no one picked up, no voice mail, nothing. Called several times over weekend, no voicemail. Showed up at Tuesday appointment after making myself unavailable to sub teach that day and waited 45 minutes for dentist. Never been thrilled with this place in the first place, very clinical. Not professional at all i needed to do two cavities and the dentist told me because the cavities are small i don't need to num you and I said are u sure she said yes. I rose my hand and told her to num me because it hurt bad. Another visit i needed to do one bonding after a month it broke/fell down. My sister has been going to this office for several years. Dr Dang was the dentist but later it was Dr.Sundararjan. In Dec 2009 , Dr Dang did a root canal. She has been complaining about the service she was receiving from the office staff . Recently my sister was in so much pain I had to take her there. When we walked in, my sister signs in, and sits down. I observed one lady behind the computer look up at the other young lady and she actually rolled her eyes and snickered. Not once did either one of them ask me if I needed any help. There was No one in the waiting room except I. My sister comes out of dentist chair, still in pain, sits down in office to schedule appointment for next week. she was in horrible pain and neither of office workers showed any concern or sympathy. I asked if she could obtain most recent x-rays. One young lady (Sophia) made paper copies and tossed the copies to my sister as she laid the stapler down in front of her for her to staple herself. My sister still in pain and in tears should not be treated so coldly. I asked the dentist why the tooth which had root canal in Dec was hurting her now. DR Sundararjan Said it was the tooth next to that one. An Hour later, She went to another dentist who immediately referred her to specialist and she was then told it was the same tooth with root canal that was infected and had to have surgery. I went there for a cavity toothache. Doctor looks at X-ray and said I needed to have a different tooth extracted. I tried to explain that was not my problem tooth. Her response, Let extract that tooth, if your pain continue, we can address the other tooth...no she didn't say that...yah she did. I asked for copy of the X-ray (to get another opinion), doctors pans me off to an assistant, to obtain the copy of theX-rays. Her assistant then proceeds to tell me about my dental problems, Later I find out she (assistant)has no medical training, not even a vocational certificate. Her response to that was she has years of experience working in the dental field. She looked not older than 30. As soon as I got my X-ray copy......gotta outa there fast. read more
