So yeah. Saturday eve booth of 4. Nice atmosphere. Quaint. Friendly. Booth was worse than a church pew...like a posture training device. Chicken wing app was awesome. Tuna tartare was average. Kinda gamey. They had no lemonade? And lots of trouble with carbonation on the soda guns....misstep. Bringing my potatoes out after my steak? The smashed fingerlings were also very blah. The salmon was great, strip steak was good, hangar steak was very good, the bone in kc strip special was average. Especially for 55 bucks. Joan rivers drink was excellent. Chocolate lava cake was really good. Blueberry cheesecake was poor. Overall.....nice place....good food.....friendly service....but....prices are too high for the overall experience. Much better than the "Grill" name implies. We've been to this restaurant a few times now, and it has quickly become our best option for somewhat local high-end food without the hoity-toity'ness that usually is associate with said places. This place is oddly located in a small strip mall at the crossroads of "somewhere and there" which makes its location all the more unique and useful for the local folk. During the COVID shutdowns, this place had basic precautions in place, but they weren't needed much. Each time we came to this place for dinner, there weren't many people dining in, and that's a shame. The feel of this restaurant is very inviting for the common man, such as myself and the quality of both the service and food should be praised and supported as such. The term "grill" has been applied to just about every restaurant from Applebee's grade, up to this place, and it is much better than those other places. Oddly enough, we've had the same server every single time we've been to Union Hill Grill, which makes it feel very consistent and friendly each time. I don't know how we've made this happen, but it definitely helps the friendly atmosphere and family-feel that this place is shooting for. Our server has been top-notch each and every time, and should be commended beyond just leaving a bigger tip. The food choices span a pretty wide range. For those that don't do "weird food", then they have your chicken fingers and steak options. For those of us that don't live blandly, they have a variety of choices with some Asian flare that help mix up an otherwise boring dish. Since I've had COVID, I haven't been able to taste or smell much (going on 9 months at this point), and I was actually able to taste my meal, which almost brought a tear to my eye. Flavor is important. Now comes the reason that I cannot give 5 stars: On our last visit, we were seated near a small group of customers that kept getting louder and louder as their supply of fermented juices arrived. One woman kept making obvious racist comments very loudly, which was ironic because once an African American couple arrived, she oddly shut the **** up. I cannot fault the restaurant for these types of human beings, but it definitely caught my attention, and it did affect our last visit. Will it keep us from returning? Not a chance. From the outside it doesn't look that great but inside is a different story and the food is awesome. Had the Tuna app and I was surprised how much tuna they give you. It had great flavor. I have been here over 20x in 5 years and I always have a great experience. Have we had mistakes at times yes but do they always make up for it in service 100%. We went in tonight with our son and waited 5 minutes or less to be seated from our reservation time. After being seated our server came over and was funny and light hearted. Picking on our son which is always welcome and being playful with my husband and I. She was truly so fun that we were so happy to be there. She mentioned being out of bread. We don't eat gluten so no issue to us. Someone else may care but she mentioned tonight had been rather busy and apologized. We ordered our appetizers and entrees. She was still so kind after watching her deal with an appalling guest. We asked if she was ok. She mentioned that tonight had been tough and i will say her smile never wavered. She never was off and always was on top of her game. Our food was fantastic and we had an amazing time. The food was amazing as always. This restaurant has an identity crisis. It's as if Gordon Ramsay was trying to compete against Cracker Barrel. The disparity between front of the house decor, style and service belies the quality and superiority of the menu and dishes coming out of the kitchen. To illustrate my point, the newly renovated bar area with it's big screen TVs would be the envy of any Applebee's franchisee. The dining room sports shiplap walls and cheesy paintings of barns and horses that would make Chip and Joanna Gaines proud. The tables are graced with white linen which was then covered with brown paper sheets that the crab joints use on Maryland's Eastern Shore, with Mason jar water glasses. A very nice sour dough bread with a compound butter was served in a tin pail. The dining room was too bright and too loud. But in contrast, the menu is sophisticated and the food was amazing. So much so, that one could only assume that the restaurant owners/managers are not related to the executive chef. The menu offers such treats as osso bucco, braised short ribs, and duck confit pasta. The specials included a lamb shank, a bone in ribeye and barbeque ribs???? I had the duck pasta and it was amazing, the best I ever ate. There were a couple of minor miscues from the kitchen, like the fried green tomato with goat cheese sauce was quite ordinary and would have been better with and actual slice of goat cheese instead of the sauce which was unfortunately scant in the serving. And at the end, the creme brulee was perfectly executed even if the coffee tasted like it came from IHOP. Such flaws did not detract from some marvelous cooking. read more

Great foo, service and ambiance. Love the farmhouse vibe. Had dinner with friends on a Friday night. We had a wonderful waitress that was very knowledgeable and helpful. Honestly wasn't expecting much when I came by, really just wanted to go out for something a little fancy. Turns out it was absolutely fantastic! Ended up ordering their Ribeye cooked to Mid-rare, absolutely fantastic, as something who has worked in the food industry and has been cooking steak for nearly 8 years, I have to say I was absolutely blown away by the flavors and texture! Hadn't visited here for a couple of years. Fried shrimp was probably the best I've had in and around Canton. The menu is somewhat pricey but then again everyone has gone up tremendously. HUGE shout out to Cherokee County for housing AWESOME businesses! Sure you may have to search, but what better way than by using Yelp! This is just what I did to find this hidden GEM! I chose to visit this restaurant for a double date night with friends of ours. Even though they open at 5, make sure to call ahead and leave a message requesting your reservation time. I called around 11 and left a message requesting a table for 4 at 6:30-7pm. The very friendly hostess called back around 3 explaining that they didn't have a table until 7:30, which was just fine with us. Located in Canton, this hidden restaurant is in a small strip center. Parking is not great, but we managed to get a front row spot! When you walk you will be delighted as to how quaint this restaurant is. True southern charm! There are a few tables in the bar area, but most of the tables are in the main dining room. We ordered drinks and apps first. They have an AMAZING wine list! Their cocktail list looked super yummy too! Here is the ONLY negative I will state; we ordered the meat & cheese board which was marked "mkt price". The board was good, very small, but good. 3 very small bites of cheese, local honey, two types of meat, grainy mustard, and candied nuts. When we got the bill the total for this was a whopping $30.00!!! Ok, never again on that one! None of our AMAZING dishes even cost that much, and were far bigger and better! They have a great menu selection. I opted for the lamb chops and soooo happy I did! One of the best meals I have ever had! I ordered them medium, but they came out a bit more on the medium rare side which I am A-OK with! The other dish that stood out was the duck! I was able to taste my friend's and it was so tender and yummy! I would probably order that next time around, although each dish (shrimp & grits, pork chop) was fantastic! just now NEW Typical regurgitated frozen food. We were told this evening that they were out of bread...they do not make their own and the bakery that they use was sending moldy bread. Fries are not house cut - they take frozen fries, coat them in some coating, fry and serve them and all of this was told to us by our server. Salmon is obviously frozen and they cannot even cook a filet to temp. Hubby always orders medium rare and received medium well. After all of this, we received a $110 bill. This is just another example of a restaurant cutting every corner, lazy and half assed serving less than mediocre food and charging a premium for it. This is becoming the new normal. Yum! Great food in a jewel of a location in rural Cherokee county. Cane here for a celebration dinner with the family. Had the cheese and meat plate as an appetizer, and the family had crab cakes, shrimp and grits and I had the short ribs. Food was amazing, reasonably priced and service was good. Had a great glass of Spanish red. One warning - the meat and cheese appetizer, while good was listed as MP, which today I found out when I got my bill, was $30.00. A little steep for what we got. 3 small slices of cheese and some slices of salami and prosciutto. I'll return but won't have the app again. read more

First time here, after meaning to come for quite some time. As everyone mentions, I think this place is a well kept secret because of its out of the way location, and the outside unassuming facade. I walked in, party of 2, and were pushed to the bar because they had a bunch of big parties coming in. (Looking around, there were many parties of 2, sitting at 4 tops. We have to stop this people! You are 2... sit at a table for 2! Or else go to Applebee's where you belong!... ok rant over) The bartender was great! Super busy with server drinks, and still very personable. The mussels special with cream sauce and bacon was insane. We loved the sauce, that needs to go on the menu permanently! The caprese app was just ok. The heirloom tomatoes were huge, under-ripened and hard. It made the mozz slices look so tiny. Mozz and balsamic were good though. The Mrs got the blackened redfish, and she thought it was awesome. I had the grilled pork chop. I was asked how I wanted it cooked, and I appreciated that. Medium! Yes folks, you CAN eat pork a little pink! It was juicy, and the sauce was outstanding. Sautéed broccolini was a nice touch. We didn't do dessert, but next time for sure! We will be back! Thanks y'all! read more

This is one of our all time favorite restaurants! We discovered it by accident and have been going back ever since! The food, ambiance, and service are great! They have a fabulous wine list as well, and their prices are very reasonable for what you get! I highly recommend The Union Hill Grill!! As a footnote, I wish they would put their scalloped potatoes back on the menu! They were fabulous! Don't forget that every Monday they have half price wine and half price appetizers! read more

Prices are escalated for this restaurant!!! Burger and fries are frozen. Not an "upscale burger". It was ok; like a hotel burger, but not an upscale meal as their upscale menu describes and/or charges! Fries are ALWAYS fresh cut at restaurants charging these prices! Hostess acts miserable. Doesn't even smile when she seats you (1/29/19 was when we ate here). So close and convenient for us; we're willing to compromise but the prices, WOW!! Willl have to sacrifice the drive for more i guess; At least if we pay $72 for two people, which we don't mind, we're getting what we pay for. We both had a burger and frozen fries and one drink. No appetizer/no desert; $72!!! Really. We may live in booger Hollar, but we ain't stupid! read more

As for the service 5 star. Brussel Sprouts were amazing the short braised ribs, and pork chop were to die for and the blackberry Cabernet sorbet was delicious! I commute to Ireland from Marietta and there is nothing similar in Marietta so I drove this far. I will definitely be back. We came in on a Saturday evening not realizing we should have made reservations for a seemingly hole in the wall country restaurant. Boy, were we in for a surprise! We took a seat at the bar and were promptly greeted by the friendly bar staff. Had an amazing Blood Orange martini. Very tasty and refreshing! We ordered the seared ahi appetizer. It was fresh and perfectly prepared. I will be getting this again the next time we come! I ordered the seared scallops and chose grits and collard greens as sides. The scallops were big and meaty and seared to perfection! The grits were tasty and the perfect consistency. The greens were almost as good as my own! ;-) My husband ordered the pork tenderloin plate.
