The brown butter hazelnut crunch donut is delicious. one of the better donuts I've had. The blueberry filled donut was one of the better filled donuts I've had. The sea salt caramel was the worst donut I've ever had. It was so salty. I get sea salt caramel will have some salt it helps bring out the flavor of the caramel. This one had about 5 times too much salt. It was extremely salty. The rest of the donuts were ok. Boston Cream was ok. Carrot cake was ok. I tried them all. The 2 best are the brown butter crunch on and the blueberry filled. The rest are ok. Avoid the sea salt caramel at all costs. yuck! read more

Their brown butter hazelnut crunch is literally one of the best things ever, especially when it's still warm from the fryer, drool... think butternut, but 100X better. Must get. (Their other flavors are solid as well, based on my years of experience with them- Maple Bacon is always a crowd favorite in particular.) But be warned: these bad boys don't keep well, so don't expect to stock up and partake later, because they just won't be as good. Tiny spot, expect lines and no seats. I love donuts but these hurt my jaw. They must let the yeast go crazy because they're so chewy. I don't get the hype. I tried the first time at haymarket and thought it was subpar because it wasn't direct from the bakery. Tried the glazed again from the Brookline shop and no luck. The Vietnamese coffee had better flavor so I ate the frosting and left the donut intact (to toss). Only issue is that as a Vietnamese person, I don't think it actually tasted like coffee or even close to ca phe. I've never thrown away a donut before and sadly, now I have. For the price you're better off just going to Twin donuts (nearby). At least at Twin Donuts you're not overpaying for donuts and they taste decent. Their donuts are good, but there are 2 major setbacks: 1. They do not plan to have enough donuts every day. Many types are sold out at 11 - they can go around and say they have really high demand, but eventually the demand will drop to accommodate their bad planning. Only some people can handle going there, getting in line, and finding out donuts are sold out again and again and again... 2. I came for donut holes. Got there at 11 and only 2 holes left. So happy that union square donut is now in Brookline. We came here at 11am on Sunday and the line was already almost out of the shop but moved quickly. The vegan donuts and margarita were out but I believe they made it again if you were willing to come back in an hour or so. This was the first time I had warm donut from union and it was another experiences. I prefer to eat when cooler completely for the more chewy texture but warm ones are perfect for the cold!! This is the third and newest location to open and makes it that much easier to get access to these gems. They're definitely on the pricey side, but well worth the splurge for an every-now-and-then treat or a nice gift to bring to a meal party. Go to the Somerville location! I went there first and fell in love with their boston creme donut--nearly the size of my face, the donut was yeasty and had plenty of creme filling. I was excited to visit this new location but was sadly disappointed. The donut was smaller with less filling and was really greasy and heavy. The donut glistened excessively and you could almost see the grease dripping off the donut as you held it, which is definitely not my preference. I think the Somerville location is the original and would definitely recommend going there instead for the full Union Square Donut experience. The inferior quality of this Coolidge Corner location is reflected in the fact that, even though I went on a Sunday morning, there were very few customers especially compared to Kupel's and other breakfast places along the same street. read more

This place has great customer service but the doughnuts were chewy and stale with the bottom of it being soggy. It was a very hot day today so I understand but the doughnuts flavor was off with a rancid smell and the actual doughnut was almost flat. These donuts are probably the best in Massachusetts, they serve special flavors that can only be found in some stores. The donuts that I tried tasted amazing the dough was fluffy but chewy at the same time and the icing was delicious, the filling added so much flavor to the donuts. They are far better than dunkin donuts donuts and are like the krispy kreme of MA. There is little seating inside and the lines can get really long on the weekends. Even though there could be a long wait I would recommend to everyone to go here for donuts at least once! read more

I'm not a big donut fan, but with all the hype, I had to scope it out. Union Square in Harvard is a staple to Boston, so I was pretty pumped when I learned they were to open in my neighborhood. I was headed to a brunch, and decided to spoil everyone with some treats. I was able to get one of each kind. I tried 4 of them (not whole ones.... just bites... I swear) and while they had flavor, the consistency /dough was tough and hard to chew... almost tasting stale... which it wasn't since i had just picked them up and was one of the first ones in there! The flavor options were not that enticing... I wish they had just a plan chocolate glazed or plain glazed donut to wow me at...I think they should focus on mastering the classic styles before branching out. read more

Five-Star donuts, 1 star customer service. I've been customer for a few years. I would be a more frequent customer if they stocked your delicious Vegan Belgian Chocolate donuts consistently. At least 75% of the time, they are out of vegan donuts. When we complained about this this at the store because we drove 20 minutes to get one, we were told that we could call to ask and reserve a donut. Once we tried and nobody picked up, and after we arrived, they were out. After this, I hadn't been in in probably 4 months. Today, because it's Mother's Day, I wanted to get one for my vegan wife. I called to reserve the Vegan Chocolate. The person on the phone gave me a bad attitude and said they had 8 left, but don't reserve donuts and they were really crazy busy. If they are crazy busy, 8 could easily go in the time it would take me to get dressed and get there. I pushed back and said that I was told before that they could hold them. They said "OK" and hung up on me. After coming to get the donut, let's just say they weren't friendly and not even a thank you on the way out the door. The few times I've been to the Union Sq store have been better, but even their, they have run out of vegan donuts. At least they are friendly there. At this point, I think I'm done with Union Donuts. . Yes, they are delicious (although very expensive), but if I can't rely on you to have the product I want and I get a bad attitude for trying to make sure I don't waste 45 minutes of my Sunday, it's just not worth it. read more

15 min on line, no problem there. New place with lots of interest. Their operations could have been faster but I'm sure they will improve in that area. Toppings (Brown butter hazelnut crunch) were excellent. The donut itself was not. It was definitely fresh but tasted like sponge cake. Don't get me wrong, it did not taste bad, but it was not our idea of a good donut. After eating it neither one of us wanted a second. That should be telling enough. The staff was working hard in the background and those we encountered were very pleasant and friendly. We counted about 7 or 8 workers in the back. Overall we were not blown away and won't rush back.
