My only complaint is that the chairs at the bar/high tops are quite uncomfortable - small and metal and I kept sliding around in the seat because of the material of my pants.

I had reservations about trying Union Street Grill since Kevin sold it and anyone I talked to said it wasn't worth going in. I figured I'd give them a chance and see for myself. Now I understand why I was warned not to go in. The first time I tried to go they were closed. Facebook said something about letting staff rest? If their staff can't handle working, wouldn't you hire more people to spread the shifts? I saw the same crew with Kevin go seven days a week without ever having poor service or complaint about working so often. Even more odd, the post stating they'd be closed was deleted shortly after and appears to be the common trend any time they close. It's like they are hiding it. I don't understand claiming to be open seven days, but they aren't ever open all week. Never had this problem when Kevin was there. Next time I tried to go I walked in at 1:00 and was turned away due to having no food left. Rather than blame the suppliers like I see the wife do in response to other reviews, wouldn't you plan orders better? Kevin ran out of a special here and there, but the entire stock? Seems a bit far fetched and like the owners can't take responsibility for their own faults. None of the other businesses run out of an entire stock of food with their supplies, same or different. After seven months wouldn't you figure out how to shop for stock? I've never seen them busy and I go by often. Finally I went in another day at 12:30. I asked about lunch and was told what was on the board was all I could order. So I had five options to choose from. Doesn't seem like they should bother opening for lunch if they're only offering such a limited menu. I ordered the fish and chips and asked for both fish and fries to be well done. I'm not confident the fish was even cooked all the way as it still had a slightly transparent appearance and the fries were barely done. I mentioned it to the server who said "that's just how they serve it." Since the wife is always saying she'll fix anything brought to her attention, I asked to speak to her, but she wasn't working. The server asked the cook (I assume the owner unless he wasn't there either) to cook the fish more and he seemed to ignore because nothing was done, but I couldn't hear the conversation. Either way, my food wasn't fixed and I was still presented a bill for the food I didn't eat because it was undercooked to the point I don't think it was safe to eat. I also watched someone else walk in at one and was told they could do take out only, so they left. I wish the owners stopped making an excuse with a fake apology to fix things when people bring these things to their attention and instead tried to do better. The response blaming someone else every time is honestly just plain rude and not how you should run a business. I brought my complaint to attention and nothing was rectified. I had to come on to leave a review as the ones here are very misleading and all the positive remarks are from the previous owners. This was my favorite breakfast stop for years when Kevin and family owned it. Since coming under new ownership, the place is disgusting and I hope people take caution before going. When I went, I asked where Kevin was and who I was later informed was the new owner's wife said he took that day off. Thankfully the waitress clarified that he sold the business which helped make sense of the poor experience we had. I'm not sure why the owner wasn't upfront? The menus also listed owned by Kevin Stephens. Maybe they were still updating them? Very misleading and dishonest practices. I went in with my husband on a Sunday around 11 and the two girls, I believe Kevin's daughters, were as friendly and accommodating as ever. The owner tried to say we could do take out only and the girls said ignore that, we don't close until 12:30. I ordered an eggs Benedict with eggs well done and I heard the waitress say she would take care of it. I've seen those girls cook before and they always put out good food. The owner brought my plate to me in no time at all which should be a good thing, but I felt rushed when he dropped the plate and walked away without a word. The waitress came back over to check on me because she knew something was wrong. Not only were the eggs not well done, they were almost raw. I had stabbed into a potato as well that was covered in some type of new spice, and by covered it looked like they coated the potatoes fully in it, and the fork barely made it as they were so raw. She quickly apologized and offered to make me something else. I heard the owner say to charge me for the Benedict and whatever else I ordered! I'm not sure what happened but the Benedict wasn't on the bill and the omelette I ordered was much better as the waitress cooked it. I assume the waitstaff took care of my bill even though it wasn't their fault. My husband's bacon was burnt and tasted like it had been cooked then sat out and they reheated it on the grill which the waitstaff admitted was the case when we asked. They kept apologizing and seemed as uncomfortable as we were. I was horrified by the owner's refusal to not only correct his mistake, but wanted to charge us for it. I only felt bad for the waitresses as we always loved catching up with them. We've walked by going to breakfast down the street since and haven't seen them in there. I can't say I would continue working at a place like that either. The new staff never appears to be interacting with what customers they do have, but we won't go back in. They don't seem nearly as busy as they used to be. People must be realizing Kevin is gone and the place has gone down hill. Awful food, place was filthy, owners are rude. What a disgrace. Kevin worked so hard to make this place great and the new owners have destroyed it in no time. I've gone in twice, once early on and once recently hoping it was growing pains and I'll never go back. The potatoes were raw and over seasoned. Eggs were still raw. Toast was more like soggy buttered bread. I tried to catch the server's attention but she blew me off and the owners didn't pay any more care to check on me. Kevin would have been mortified by the lack of attention. Coffee was burnt like they brewed it early and it sat out all day. The food took thirty minutes even though I was the only one there. Was never offered more coffee or anything else to drink. I had tried going a few times before my last time in there around one and they stop dine in service at 12:45 during the week apparently? Why bother being open until two if no one can go in. I had heard they don't admit to being the owners so out of curiosity I asked where Kevin was and the owner's wife, super unfriendly, said "he must have run to the store." If anyone else was in there I would have outed her lies of actually he sold it. I wouldn't want to take ownership of this dump if I were her either. I'm even more disgusted by the violations listed by the board of health. I posted it since it's public knowledge but they had month old tuna fish? That's disgusting and more than an oversight. And oversight would be a couple days. Probably forgot to change the date and pass it off as still good based on how slimy this place is now. I imagine they don't go through much stock because I never see it busy. Too bad they ruined such a great spot. Oh and outdoor seating? What two tiny tables on the curb? So much dishonesty. read more

The oval used to have so many breakfast choices....if there was a wait at one you really couldn't go wrong with one of the others. This place is a dive now! Why would you try to fix what wasn't broken for decades? The greaser behind the grill has zero personality, can't cook, and doesn't accept constructive criticism. Next time my family will wait at one of the other 3 diners. Michelle, we visited 9/4/22. There was one customer at the bar, and a dad and daughter at a table. We were the only other customers in the place mid morning, so NO not too busy to attend to a simple request to cook the home fries. Used to get the sausage gravy and biscuits, the reinvented version was a sausage (5 cut up pieces) omelette with a milky "sausage" gravy on top. Zero flavor! When I asked server about biscuits was told this is how we do it and everyone likes it. REALLY? I guess it is the attitude that turned me off. Daughters pancake was ok nothing like the fun shapes we used to get. Wife is a scramble girl with bacon (precooked and served cold) she skipped home fries thankfully because they were raw and no flavor. Maybe listen to what customers are saying rather than fight back with your way is better and do something to fix the issues. Next time we will wait at one of the other 3 diners on the oval. Gone are the good old days when Kevin and his family ran this charming little diner. I called in a breakfast sandwich to go, wasn't ready when I arrived, so I grabbed a cup of coffee. yuck. burnt and bitter!! I would have stayed to eat my sandwich but the radio was so loud I couldn't hear myself think. I took my sandwich to the office and when I bit into it the egg whites were still runny and the bacon was cold and chewy. I figured I'd go back at lunch with a client and give them a heads up, I know things happen and you can't correct mistakes if you don't know there is a problem. met my client at 1 for lunch. we were rudely told we could take our order to go the dining room was closed. the hours clearly state 7-2 M-F. Now I know why every other diner had a line and we walked right in to this place! It looked charming from the road but the employees were rude. We said we were in a bit of a hurry and the kid told us maybe we should go to a drive thru! We thought maybe joking. We got our coffee and ordered and our food arrived promptly. ( there was no one else in there) We should have taken the drive thru advice. The Greek omelette had 2 spinach leaves, 4 olives and I could barely taste the feta cheese. My wife ordered the "homemade" chili omelette, tasted like spicy ketchup with bits of meat in it. Don't bother going....not worth the $30 plus for 2 awful omelettes and coffee. Thanks for the advice. So I decided to seesaw over to the Union Street Grill the other day, what a great decision that was. I was half-awake; and upon my grandiose entrance, I knocked some silverware onto the floor, but all ended well - thank God for coffee. I ordered the Southwestern omelet, very yummy and spicy; and, yes, I did pay for that later - if you know what I'm sayin' sayin' LOL. Had a great little chit-chat with Kevin Stephens, the owner, about plastic bags - it was a great experience. A genuinely cool human being. It seems like a lot of opinions about this place range from the heights of "excellent" to "worst…read moredining experience ever". It's a fascinatingly intriguing tale, to say the least. I guess, depending on who you are, you could land on either side of the spectrum. At the risk of stating so in presumed ambivalence, my assessment of this newfound breakfast diner ranges somewhere in the middle. This is mostly due to service being pretty stellar, whilst the food was....alright. We gotta get into it. Upfront, it's worth mentioning that after placing our food orders, the meals were out in less than 10 minutes. I was honestly surprised! And whilst this is most certainly a win, it couldn't make up for some of the faux pas in execution. So, I get the hash n' eggs (like I do in most places), along with some homefries and an English muffin. The hash was delicious (and canned, if that matters to anyone) and the eggs were fresh and tasty. The English muffin was actually grilled, which is interesting...since they never really asked me whether I wanted it toasted or grilled. Doesn't matter much to me though. I'll take it either way. The homefries, believe it or not, are what bring this dish down a bit. In fact, it seems both of their breakfast potato sides have problems. I'll try to explain.. The homefries somehow came out in multiple forms of "doneness", depending on which pieces I attempted to eat. This basically meant that they ranged from decently tender on the inside with a seared outside, to slightly overcooked, to cooked to f*@k. Some pieces even resembled that of charcoal. Wifey got hashbrowns with her quiche of the day (which was apparently under seasoned) and those were totally undercooked. In short, one side was overcooked whilst the other was undercooked. Perhaps the cooks operate on the BPD scale of quality assurance. Perennial plant problems aside, I mostly enjoyed my meal. My other two guests thought their quiches could have been better seasoned. The coffee was decent. At least it wasn't a light breakfast blend. Couple other things that bugged me about this place were the dining area being so cramp, walking to the restroom is like a mouse running through the maze for cheese; not to mention the parking situation outside. It's....IMHO, pretty stupid. Okay. Picture this. You got two entrances. Either of these could be the "front" one, depending on your perspective. There's also two entrance points to the parking lot. Only....no. Turns out...the one closest to the true front entrance of the diner has a "DO NOT ENTER" sign on it. Which means if you enter the parking lot the way you're supposed to, you end up pulling up to the side entrance - which you can't use anyway. And then there's the annoying practice of folks being allowed to parallel park in front of the diner, inevitably creating a bottle neck effect for any cars deciding to pass through there. The only other parking options available are along that side entrance I mentioned earlier, or behind the building which....feels wrong to me somehow. I can't quite explain why though. Overall, they weren't bad. But I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return. Which kinda sucks, considering they aren't very far from where I live. At least their prices aren't too bad. Here we never had an empty cup of coffee or water. There was plenty of delicious food on the plate. My plate had an omelette and country potato and toast. It was made to perfection. I obviously cleaned my plate up. Thanked "Franny" (she is on hand) and the chef for the great food.

Veggies creatively placed both inside and on top. -- Home fries: Plentiful and crisp, but I think no seasoning other than paprika. Bland. -- Pancakes: Nicely browned, but a little bland. Decent. Syrup handily in a table dispenser, so no need to ration. -- Sausage Links: Around 3" long and pretty much store-bought equivalent if not literally store-bought. Decent juiciness and flavor. -- Coffee: Better than Jiffy Lube, but most of the fast food places have better coffee. -- Service: Cordial but distant. Overall, good enough to get the job done if we're in the area and need breakfast now. But not destination-worthy, nor likely to join the breakfast rotation.

I was there for a while to decide. then For Breakfast I ordered the WINDMILL sandwich. It was Very Delicious. I'm for sure Appreciative for their Prompt service and the Ambiance is quiet and peaceful. I didn't take a photo of the windmill sandwich However when I was there today I decided. I then ordered Iced coffee, JUMBO French toast with 2 sausage patties. It was cooked very fast and was ver delicious. I'm appreciative for their kindness to Me. CHRIST BLESS Ricks Diner AMIN.

4 of us were seated immediately around 8:45 on a Saturday morning…read more ATMOSPHERE: Warm, fun, comfy diner feel with loads of memorabilia. It was buzzing with people the entire time but as it is roomy inside, I never saw anyone having to wait. SERVICE: Adrienne took wonderful care of us, keeping coffee topped off and making sure we had everything we needed. FOOD: Good, solid diner food, fresh ingredients. One pancake was the size of the entire dish, could have used a few more chocolate chips. The campora omlet good, would be made better with something savory added or maybe more garlic/onion spice. Home fries were tasty, grilled english muffin excellent. The corned beef hash is crunchy, preference is for the beef to be a bit softer. The bill can be paid with credit card, but the tip must be in cash. Plenty of parking. Beware, if going during winter, the entrance walkway is barely shoveled, we had issues getting a walker through as one side was a very thick layer of ice, so a tricky entrance and exit. I'd recommend they put way more ice melt down near the entrance and chip away at that ice to prevent falls. The parking lot was nice and clear.

The food was horrible. I went with the breakfast burrito special that they were offering. It was a PUDDLE of a mess and soggy. It lacked flavor, color, and showed no hint of seasoning. My wife ordered the pollo pennine with pesto. It was underwhelming and lack luster as well. Between the cheese and pesto it was OVER salted, and soggy due to the oversized tomato wedges being smashed in it with RAW onions. Against our better judgement, with the disappointment of both meals, we ordered a follow on side of French toast; and that was horrible as well. Undercooked, soggy, and flavorless toppled with a pile of powdered sugar and a gob of butter that would had left Paula Dean sayin 'Good LORD... that's a lot of BUTTER" the presentation was sloppy at best. This location might be a local staple, but as a stop through patron, we would NEVER go here again. Don't do it.... Keep driving or look for better quality at a Dunkin!
