The lesson here is don't judge a book by its cover. I drive by this place every Wednesday when I go into the office. The outside just doesn't have that draw. It outside is underwhelming. We took a chance and visited this past Saturday and boy were we surprised. The inside has charm and is very cool looking. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Absolute gem. Great service. Huge size beers and a variety of sandwiches and pizza to pick from. We went with the Murder Hornet pizza which is a preferred pizza here. It was really really good. The place was relatively slow. Went with my 6 year old daughter on a Sunday to grab some pizza. There was only one other group of 2 at the place. Our pizza took over 40 minutes so my daughter was getting impatient as was I. The pizza came and was the thinnest cardboard pizza I had ever seen. My order was completely wrong missing 3-4 of the toppings. I ate it anyway as I didn't have another 40 minutes in me to wait for the correct pizza. They realized their mistake afterwards and did not offer any kind of refund. What a complete waste. read more

The wife and I decided to get out of the house on a beautiful day after mostly quarantining for a year. So we hit the road to Orange County for a short road trip. Staff was nice. Beer was good although maybe not our usual style. They seem to concentrate on German style beers. Pizza was delicious. Outdoor seating area appeared to be a work in progress but will probably be nice when finished. My only real complaint is they served us in plastic cups. I think it affects the taste and it reminds me of being at a keg party in college. All and all a pretty cool place and we enjoyed our visit. read more

Another disappointing visit on Jan. 26th. Still no beer, wine or bourbon for a place that's supposed to have a full bar as well as being a brewery. By the way it's NOT a brewery, it's a tap house. I stopped for lunch at Unionville Brewing on a Saturday afternoon and was very disappointed. I ordered the "grilled" cheese sandwich and a side salad, and my companion had a New Yorker. My "grilled" cheese was toasted bread - in a toaster- which then had cheese added and was microwaved. The cheese was visibly not melted. My salad, was made with romaine lettuce, much of which was over six inches long. The cucumbers were huge. The kicker, though, were the TWO lettuce cores (end) that were in my salad. My companions sandwich was good, he said, but lacking in filling. The bread itself was great. Also, he enjoyed his Narragansett Lager. The ambiance is nice, although the music was very loud for the six patrons in the place. It looks like the place to be in Unionville on a Saturday night for pizza and beer, but otherwise I'd give it a miss. read more

Very difficult to rate this place because they are clearly in transition. No longer a brewery, there pizza was great, and the relaxed atmosphere--with people actually bringing in their dogs--was nice to see. Will come again and watch the transition. Went here for dinner with some friends, on the perfect night to eat in the outside area. (a cooler evening). They let you try the beers before you order, and I tried several. They were okay, but I did find one I liked (The Black Pearl). My wife had the tractor juice, with margarita flavoring, and said it was too sweet. The pizza's however, are very good. We had the Sauce Boss Meat Lovers. When it came out, it was kind of runny, almost like it hadn't been cooked long enough, so we had to eat it with a knife & fork. But the taste was great! This isn't a brewery. Not a single beer of their own on tap . Bathrooms are in trailers outside the building. However, since it's winter they have no water which means people are not able to wash their hands and essentially worse than a porta John. Outside of the buildings, looks like it is completely neglected. Food is essentially dive bar food. The only downside is things aren't priced like a dive bar and they don't even have football games available on TV. Really shocked this place is open. read more

Food is pretty good. My biggest issue is the bathrooms are filthy dirty, in a trailer, not well lit walkway from the bar to the trailer. We were there on Sat eve and only one bathroom unit was open and working however the toilet was over flowing into the floor so it wasn't truly working. Also the bathrooms are not handicapped accessible at all. As much as they charge for drinks there's no reason the bathrooms aren't better and better maintained. So ladies make sure you get an escoet to the bathrooms for safety and roll up your pants so you aren't walking in pee. read more

This was the opening weekend and what can I say?!?!? Great beer (ya gotta try the English Brown Ale)... every pour is "a pint of freedom" as they say at the Unionville Brewing Company! As a veteran and patriot this place is a solid location of American values and pride. The owner(Jason), is a vet and proudly displays the US Declaration of Independence and US Constitution over the bar. Two wood stoves, plenty of space both inside and out, large screen TV to watch the games (NFL playoffs on right now!), five large double barn doors allow the night to spill into the spacious outdoor area with yard games aplenty! They have a stage for live music, which is fantastic. UBC is covered in locally grown, milled, and crafted lumber... bars, flooring, and furniture. It is obvious talking with everyone at UBC, they support the local, homegrown community. Jason is personable, available, and engaged. The staff are prompt and I've not had to wait for a pint yet! I'm literally watching the staff talking to the customers and having a great time. I just had a brat with sauerkraut and jalapeños.... delicious. This unique and relaxed gem is vey easy to find as well. The thing that impresses me the most is not only the beer but the family-friendly atmosphere. My kiddos are running around right now. It opened last night and was packed... today (a Sunday) was rockin'. If you're passing through Orange County, VA, are a local, or are visiting the scenic central VA area, this is a must stop. First, let me say, normally we love Unionville! We go in person occasionally and we utilize their takeout fairly regularly. The people are usually really nice and we have a great experience most times. Their subs are really good, the pizza is really good (but please get some much better-tasting beverages for the non-beer drinkers though, the "tractor juice" is truly kinda gross - but that's not too big a deal). Overall, we truly like Unionville. However, today...what the HECK happened?! Tonight we ordered 2 18-inch "Unionville" subs, cold, one without onions. Again, I want to say that we usually love these! They are really tasty and a great value for the money..tonight though...TERRIBLE! The rolls were crushed and quite stale. The cheese and meat tasted old and off, it was super dry - barely any mayo at all. The bacon (and this didn't resemble ANY bacon I've ever had before) was incredibly skimpy and consisted of a few crumbles of extremely burnt and black SOMETHING (and these things were so hard and over-cooked that they were literally not chewable). The overall flavor was totally off. Not fresh-tasting product, stale...guys, usually you rock, what the heck happened?! We will give you another chance for sure, but cautiously, and with the expectation that we won't receive an unacceptable $40 meal like this again. If we had been eating there we would have sent these back immediately and without question. Normally I'd rate them probably 3..8ish stars overall, today...1. I hope this is not a sign of what to expect in the future. Everyone has an off night sometimes, that's understood, hope this was just the one-off for Unionville. read more

Went there for the first time today. I loved it. It's my type of brewery. Seriously thought I had pulled up to someone's house and thought,"where am I?". Went in and it was just a chill country brewery. Awesome beer, pizza was perfect, staff was super nice. I will say it be nice if they invested in some A/C, but it wasn't that bad. It's 30 minutes from Fredericksburg but I'm definitely coming back!!! read more

Right off of Rt 20 north of the light at the Rt 522. Very nice establishment with indoor and outdoor seating. Spacious like new picnic tables. They had three beers and a cider/seltzer on tap. Not being an IPA person, I enjoyed the pale ale but really liked the Dunkel Bock. The pizza was thin crust and very good. The staff were fantastic. One of the owners came by to check on us and outlined some of the events in for the brewery. Loved it!! Great place for a nice brew and good pizza. Marzen on tap next weekend. Can't wait read more
