2 days post gel manicure and it's chipping. My pedicure was fine. Not worth the 60$ at all. I requested regular polish for my toes and was treated so poorly for requesting a fan to dry them. I didn't get her name but the lady with the bob was so rude and dismissive. I understand professionals prefer gel, but if I'm paying for what I want, why try to sabotage the quality? Regular polish Pedicures usually last me three weeks -- I was chipping three days later. I wasn't rude or demanding but I shouldn't be treated like an inconvenience. I don't think I'm their preferred customer. Every non POC was being spoken to and cared for so well. This was the worst experience of my life. I came to get a full set, pedi, and eyebrow wax. We started with getting my pedi done first, and everything was okay until one of the workers walks outside because his car was getting towed and tried to FIGHT one of the tow truck drivers. I don't know the full story but I am literally flabbergasted by the actions of this establishment. The man was cursing and screaming through the salon, there was also a CHILD there screaming and crying as he watched the entire situation play out. This was super inappropriate display of actions and I am disgusted with this place. If you are going to charge an arm and a leg for bad service, atleast do GOOD WORK! I had a big day ahead of me and spent $200 at this place and was disappointed by the professionalism. The lady with the dome bob cut did all of my services and she was very professional and did my pedi and eyebrow correctly but my nails look absolutely stupid. I got a SIMPLE French tip and my nails look like a kid drew them on. I asked her multiple times to correct it and it came to a point when I was at the salon for 3 hours and I didn't have anymore energy to waste on trying to help her fix them. TLDR: Good place for a cheap, quick manicure. Average quality. Great customer service and they don't try to talk you into getting gel. After getting pedicures at Relax Foot Spa, we walked across the street to Unique Nail Salon for manicures. The atmosphere and quality is definitely different here than at Relax Foot Spa, but their prices are cheaper. It is a small building consisting of one main front room and rooms in the back for waxing. Pedicures are provided on the left side of the room, manicures on the right, and nail drying in the front. We were greeted upon arrival from a employee working with another customer. She asked what we wanted and informed us to sign in. A sign in sheet is at the front desk. We signed in and waited a few minutes before starting the manicures. I was surprised at how quickly they fit us in on a Friday night. I chose a polish and gave it to the man providing my manicure. I believe it was a husband and wife duo providing our manicures. They were experienced and fun. They talked and joked with each other and us while doing our nails. Since only one of us chose polish, the other received a long hand/arm massage. This was unexpected and appreciated. I was painting the week of this appointment so I had paint under my nails. I told them they did not have to get all the paint off, but they spent a while trying to clean my nails as best as they could. I loved how they didn't try to talk me into doing gel polish. When finished, they helped me move my things to the front and I dried my nails for about 10 minutes. Even being careful I did smudge the polish at one point. Nonetheless they still looked good. I recentry came here to get a pedicure when I came in no one acknowledged nor greeted me. after about several minutes I was told to go to the other side and someone would help me. i proceeded and was ignored for another 10 minute. Then a White female came in, two of the workers rushed to greet her and immediately sat her in a chair. I then told them I was here before her. the lady said you need to sign in but the White lady didn't sign in and I told her this. they over charge and expect tips as if they deserve it. As a person of color I pat attention to how people treat me. I seen a Blk lady who bill was $85 and she gave $100 and told the lady to keep the change. Absolutely love this nail salon! It's been a while since I've treated myself to a manicure and pedicure which used to be an every two week event prior to Covid. I visited this place last week for an eyebrow wax.. let's just say, thanks I can finally look at myself in the mirror again! Today, I walked in & was promptly greeted. Lucky me, I got the same woman who did my waxing the week before. Serena was amazing. She was gentle & polite. Her steady hands are greatly appreciated and the polish job looks flawless. Plexiglass barriers are in place, gloves and masks are worn. They even have their ultraviolet sterilization machines in sight. the messiest work i have ever had done on me. michelle did my nails so sloppy and then some man came behind her work filling and cut a hole in my nail. i asked for square she gave me two duck nails and the others were not even square. she couldn't even do a simply french tip. she rushed the whole time. i told the man i was not satisfied and did not like them. they didn't say thank you or ask what can they do. i called and spoke with the man asked him is there anyone who can fix my nails the way they should be he was so rude to me saying "idk what you expect me to do" then passed the phone to michelle. michelle did not say she would fix it she said come talk to her. i did not want her to fix it because honestly she doesn't do a good at all. this salon is definitely for the older people who only get one plain color. i had to go straight to another shop where they said michelle didn't even try they could tell she rushed and just wanted the money. very very unsatisfied with this place wish i didn't give them a dollar. i recommend Unique Nails in DURHAM ON GUESS RD. read more

SKIN WAXED OFF OF MY FACE!!! I used to go here all the time to get my eyebrows waxed. I had an upcoming photo shoot and needed to have my face waxed. I have had my face waxed jhere before, however someone new waxed my face this time. I was assured that she was just as good as everyone else, but she placed extremely hot wax on my face, slapped the paper down roughly and tore off... and along came my skin. Not in one spot but in two separate spots the skin was waxed completely off of my face. I have severe scarring and I am a working model. I had to miss photo shoots and all, due to their carelessness and neglect. The manager Christine is very sweet, but definitely knows how to try to talk her way out of an issue. I was desperate. I made the mistake of thinking that the stellar service I received at Relax Footspa would translate across the street. What is Unique about the place? Well, the hygiene looks dubious. White towels stained. Probably could be used to rub down hubcaps at the nearby carwash. I thought I would treat myself and probably should have pulled up short at the price and the abrupt service. I asked for no polish. And usually I get some type of nice buffing natural polish done. Nope. Not here. So basic it was almost like doing it yourself. Manicure Guy in the next booth had nothing to do was watching tv on a laptop with earplugs in. Really classy joint.HLN crime show playing in the background. I sat down to notice old nail polish streaks on all the equipment. Years of racing strips of client polish smeared on the side of the dryer. And when I was abruptly told to go wash your hands. I figured that was all I was going to get. And while I washed my hands, the nail technician (not really) stood beside me .... washing off the tools she just used in tandem. My mind is spinning now. I am rather torn in how many stars to give Unique Nail Salon. The lady who helped me was very sweet, but I was just not satisfied with the end product. I went in for eyelash extension as I saw someone mention it in earlier reviews. The cost for eyelash extension is $35, which is a pretty good deal. I thought it would take a while, but it took her no time to do it. Mainly because it wasn't what I was looking for. Instead of individual extension onto your lash (which is what happen normally), she used the cut up fake lashes that you can buy the drug stores. I wanted more of a natural look and since she used the cut up fake lashes, it ended up being way more dramatic than I wanted. I can't say anything about their mani and pedi, but I was very disappointed with the lash extension service. The place also wasn't the most sanitary place. read more

I read reviews after I first went here and was surprised by all the negative reviews. At the same time, I've only gone twice so would not consider myself an expert. I have gotten a gel manicure two times here and highly recommend Monica. She only works Thursday thru Saturday she mentioned. She didn't rush and my manicure lasted a long time. She was extremely thorough and very friendly. The place as a whole is just a basic nail salon. Nothing fancy and the usual ambiance. This location has great prices but unprofessional service delivery. In the last 3 years, I have visited this location about 5 times. Each time, their service is lack luster but tolerable. This last time, I was offended by the nail tech's nasty response to my request to use a non-electric tool to remove my gel nail polish. After I explained why the use of an electric tool was concerning to me, the guy rolled away from my station and said "well, you'll just have to wait for someone else to do your nails." I sarcastically respond "that was an appropriate customer friendly response." I quietly got up from my seat and left. I will never return! In walks a mother and daughter and they are immediately taken to the chairs for a pedicures when I asked they say said we didn't want pedicures and they would get to us in a few. I checked the sign in sheet for my own errors and made them fully aware that I signed in at 1:45 for two pedicures which was 30 minutes ago. I went to Unique Nails on Saturday (today is Wednesday) and had the Gelac Manicure done- "lasts 2 weeks!". It looks awful! Not long after I left on Saturday I got my first chip and last night I noticed that my nails looked like they had already been through 2 weeks of wear. I called the salon on Monday and told them that I was already having problems with them and I was told to come in the next day. However, after explaining that I am a graduate student in the middle of exams right now, I was told that if I didn't come in within the next day or two that I would not be believed. I love this place. There are a lot of nail places in the area and this is the best. It is clean, I get gel manicures and they last almost a MONTH! They are the only salon I have been to in the triangle that doesn't charge $3 to take off the gel polish if you are getting it put on again.
