I've been to a few Alfred Coffees and love them! This particular location is so bright and airy inside with plenty of seating. I ordered the Cloud Cream Latte and really enjoyed it. It was strong and a bit sweet. The service was pretty fast as well. I also think the prices are pretty fair. There's a small, free parking lot in the back. read more

I have been to several Alfred coffee shops- My first experience was in Beverly Hills and the the new one in Porter Ranch. Each shop has their own identity. This is the first time that I have been to this shop- Unlike the other shops that I have been to, this one seemed a bit cramped inside. The seating is very limited-- there is a seating area in the middle made out of tile with some limited tables around it and a bar on the side with four seats that was occupied by two people working. During the time we went, the store was occupied by kids so other patrons were trying to find spots around them. For more space you can sit outside, but it was 112 degrees out thus too hot but may be good during the wintertime. The outside patio has a lot of tables to enjoy a drink. The drinks are pretty standard across their shops. Alfred offers some unique drinks that you do not find at other shops. I ordered the Horchata drink and a small cost 6.50. The small is really small. The drink was good but nothing that blew my socks off. Staff are super friendly! Always nice to experience this at a shop. I think a key thing when I get a drink, is a space to relax. This spot did not offer a relaxing location to kick back and enjoy my drink. A small parking lot does exist in the box- which is great in this area. Plus, there are meter spots in the front or on the perpendicular street. read more

So i'm not usually the type of person that comes on this app to leave a poor review but this one had to be done. I want to start with the positive: the staff is absolutely amazing and hard working. They're very attentive and were great. Negative: the matcha is decent (nothing amazing but also not terrible) Where I'm extremely disappointed is the partnership with Wake and Late. I order wake and late weekly through postmates but today I decided to grab a burrito from Alfreds (as they have a partnership). This is the worst idea I could have made. The burrito tasted like a slight better LAUSD breakfast burrito. There were no tots, but instead cut up potato pieces, the egg was overcooked, the steak tasted more like sausage and it felt like it was microwaved. This was genuinely the most disappointing experience I could have had. read more

This spot is solid! My son had an event at his school so I had to drop him off and then go back an hour later. I didn't want to lose my park at the school so I decided to walk to Alfred to grab something to eat and drink for my youngest son. It's located on Ventura Blvd so there is limited parking out front. However, there is parking on the side street Paso Robles Ave which is convenient. Walking into the coffee shop, it was clean and pretty modern, walking through the patio area first to get to the inside. The setup is nice but it's small and can get crowded fast! The people at the front register were great. They were super helpful and even joked around with my son as he was ordering. We decided to go with the bacon breakfast burrito, the turkey sandwich, the pog juice and a strawberry lemonade. The food was good and they called our name in a reasonable time so the wait wasn't bad. The only thing I feel could be better, and they may be working on this, is if they could include more food items. If they did this, it would give Starbucks a run for their money. My kids like going to Starbucks for all of their food items and we kill two birds with one stone. That may not be their goal but if I could easily grab what I need and grab them a breakfast from here in the mornings, that would eliminate several morning stops for me lol. Overall, I like Alfred! Founded in Melrose Place in 2013, Alfred Coffee specializes in matcha drinks but also has coffee on the menu along with breakfast burritos and pastries. I ordered the Matchaga - described as a matcha + functional mushroom drink blended with chaga, reishi, and lion's mane mushrooms, vanilla, monk fruit, and a dash of strawberry. I got mine with oat milk, which they don't charge extra for. I liked this location with its natural lighting and indoor/outdoor seating arrangement. You can park in the back as well with a door that leads to the parking lot. The matchaga (12 oz $7.50) had just the right amount of sweetness with NO SUGAR. Since I'm trying to cut out sugar these days, this was a welcome change. The matcha wasn't too bitter and there was just the hint of mushroom, in fact I could barely taste it. Hiya, Thank God I don't have an allergy to cinnamon because if I did, I would've been in a serious problem. Love that an Alfred opened up in Encino! It's right by a small park too which is a nice one to walk around. Metered parking around the area or free parking deeper in the residential area. Pretty big cafe, they have a decent amount of seating. Great spot to meet up with someone. Alfred has lots of options, both espresso and matcha, standard and specialty ones too like lavender or strawberry. I usually love their vanilla bean latte but this time I went with an iced matcha. I also love that they have a dairy-free cloud/cream top so folks who are dairy-free or vegan can enjoy it too. I went without it this time to cut down on cost but am excited to try it in the future! Not a fan of Alfred coffee and don't think the hype is worth it. The coffee is okay and overpriced as well as the food but this location is pretty cute and nice. Came here after a run with a group and there was plenty of seating. Honestly, they did such a nice job with the ambiance for this location. I got a maple oat latte and the bagel bits. The latte was actually the best one I've had out of all the times I've been to Alfred and the bagel was good and not overpriced surprisingly. This Alfred's opened less than a year ago in lovely Encino next to Fat Sal's and they have the most gorgeous interior! Surrounded by lots of seating and standing area, the inside is light, airy, and has an ordering and pickup area with friendly cashiers. Everyone working seemed really nice and chill, even though it was pretty busy. I ordered an iced strawberry matcha with an almond croissant and it was really good (just as expected.) My only complaint is that they make the matcha to be pretty via presentation, so you WILL have to mix it up a ton to get evenly mixed. read more

I've passed by Alfred's Coffee countless times and I always wanted to stop in. Finally, I got a chance to visit! Located on Ventura Blvd next to Fat Sal's, the space is clean and styled with their signature pastel colors. The open patio is a great spot to hang out and get some work/studying done while having a view of Ventura Blvd. Beyond the coffee, they serve food from breakfast burritos to fresh pastries. A small parking lot is shared between Fat Sal's so parking can be challenging. If it is packed, look for street parking on Ventura Blvd. read more

Alfred Coffee never disappoints. I have been to many location but first time here in Encino. What a lovely cafe. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance is great, very busy when I stopped by with my mom. Everyone was working so hard to fill orders and Uber Eats and app orders ... what an operation. Friendly customer service, great drinks also freshly baked croissants and pastries. I ordered a steak burrito and shared it with my mom as a light breakfast. Really good. My late was delicious with the Alfred cloud cream. I also noticed packaged sandwiches in the fridge area and drinks. Also bagels with cream cheese is available. A post picnic coffee was just what the afternoon ordered. Alfred Coffee - Encino is a chic, earthy, vibrant, perfectly lit coffee cafe in the city of Encino, serving up a variety of hot & cold beverages from 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM daily. Located on Ventura Blvd/Balboa Blvd just west of Smart Final shopping center directly next to Fal Sal's you can find metered parking as well as some limited spaces with shared businesses, as well as a door to the parking lot in back near their restrooms. We stopped in on the holiday so meter parking was free, and got in just after someone had finished ordering so we had zero wait. We got a cold brew and an americano, both made to perfection. The service was friendly and prompt. They served some great food option here, including ready to grab and go items, breakfast burritos (w/ vegan and gluten free options), bagels, and more. They have a small station of beverage essentials like sugar in the raw, stevia, stirrers, etc. If you'd like a little cream or milk, and yes they have non-dairy options: oat, almond, coconut and macadamia, you can ask and they'll give you a small shot sized cup full to add as you need. We found a great table overlooking Ventura Blvd, with a nice breeze and Wi-Fi (just ask - as I didn't notice any signs posted). Lots of people working off their laptops, enjoying conversations and the ambiance. On weekends you can find an ice cream vendor Kinrose Creamery at their stall in the cafe's main open air lounge hub serving scoops of their Middle Eastern Style ice creams (no dairy-free options yet, but plenty for classic ice cream goers to enjoy). Very unique flavors! Happy to see Alfred Coffee expanding (a few locations throughout Greater LA). Hoping this new gem in Encino will be around for years to come. Got invited to their soft opening/friends and family day today. I got the lavender matcha and the vanilla latte. Both were SUPER amazing and perfect flavor. The location is great and clean - a lot of open space and chairs and tables. Parking: there is a very small lot that it shares with fat sals, and then meter street parking. Everyone was super nice and helpful - but will def come back and see if that's the same when they officially open hahaha. But amazing coffee as always! Will def be back! read more

This was our first time here. The ambience is nice. But during the summer sitting in the patio section will be uncomfortable. The service was very nice. Everyone was polite and helpful. As For the drip coffee, it was very acidic. It seemed like it was a Americano. The steak burrito, didn't have much egg or steak to speak of, but it had a ton of potato. I would call it a potato burrito with a touch of eggs and meat. My wife's bagel with avocado was really good. I had a bite. I also ordered a scone as well, it was alright, not tempting to get it again. Over all, it wasn't a place that I would be jazzed about. My son may be jazzed however. read more

I come to Alfred in Encino at least once a week; it is consistently excellent across the board! The employees are always friendly and welcoming, but they also seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs which is so refreshing. The store is very clean, aesthetically pleasing, and has a warm ambiance that doesn't seem cookie cutter or forced. The food is delicious, especially the breakfast burritos (bacon is my personal favorite). I also love that they have a rotational menu. The cherry lemonade in the summer made me fall in love with the location, but their drip coffee is better than any other chain I've visited! There is ample street parking (a pet peeve of mine, especially in LA), they have indoor/outdoor seating, the bathrooms are clean, and it is ADA accessible. I rarely write reviews, but what happened here today was one of the most disrespectful and unprofessional customer service experiences I have ever had. On Christmas morning, my husband, our three children, and I came in for coffee and breakfast because this location is close to our home. From the start, the staff felt cold and unfriendly, but I brushed it off. I ordered a matcha latte and politely asked for half the amount of matcha because I do not like it too strong, and I specifically requested that it be hot. The drink came out lukewarm. I went back and asked if it could be heated. The barista said she would make a new one, which was fine. I calmly reminded her that I had asked for half the matcha, so if she was remaking it, please keep that in mind. She responded with an attitude, told me that is "their recipe," and made it very clear she was annoyed by a simple and reasonable request. When she handed me the new drink, she did so rudely and aggressively. What happened next was shocking. After I sat down with my family, she changed the Christmas music playlist to the song "Rude," turned the volume up, and loudly encouraged the staff to sing along, clearly directing it at me. This was done in front of other customers and my children. I felt humiliated. This was not a misunderstanding, it was intentional mockery. We immediately decided to leave. As we were walking out, my husband calmly told her, "You are the rude one." She responded by yelling back that I was rude. When I confronted her and asked what exactly I did wrong, requesting half the amount of matcha, there was no answer, only hostility. If this is the type of employee you choose to put at the front of your business, it says a lot about your standards. Zero professionalism, zero customer service, and complete disrespect. Delicious heated caprese sandwich. Wonderful vanilla latte. But two days in a row they gave me iced coffee when I wanted hot. The first day I said hot twice while ordering. we took it back and reminded them I wanted it hot and it came out iced a second time. After 30 minutes I had a coffee to drink. Second day they didn't ask hot or cold and I forgot to say so they automatically served it iced. I didn't have time to wait for another try or two so I just left. I love visiting this Alfred's and I'm so glad they opened a location a bit closer to me (I'm SUPER excited about the new Woodland Hills location as well). Every time I visit Alfred's the staff is so kind and we get our coffee orders so quickly. This particular location was a bit busy but this didn't impact the timing of our order at all. One of my favorite things to do there is try their seasonal drinks. Every fall, I look forward to their version of the pumpkin spice latte. However, this year, they came out with the Prinsesstårta Matcha Latte which is DIVINE!! It jam flavor is so fruity and on point and pairs perfectly with the matcha flavor. I've been waiting soooo long for this Alfred Coffee location to open. It's great to have them in the neighborhood, but gosh is it hard to patron. The order-ahead option online really doesn't work at random times of the day, they run out of favorites like breakfast burritos by 10:45am(?!), and parking is a paaaaaaain. Like, what do you mean, that's all Fat Sal's?! The few times that I've actually been able to order ahead or kill 15 minutes in the line, the drinks have only been decent at best. For these prices, and considering this brand, it is quite disappointing. The interior is cute, though, and there's a good amount of seating and pops of color to go around. Yay! Alfred's has made its way over to the valley at last. I didn't know they have one in Encino, so it was a pleasant surprise yesterday after lunch. The vibe is different than the other locations, but still very cute, and offering breakfast (not sure I noticed that before). We ordered a latte and a short americano. The americano was okay - a little on the sour side and slightly watered down. Latte was good! The service is nice. The staff is welcoming, attentive and friendly. I decided to stop by after my workout in the area on a Wednesday morning. I was absolutely shocked to see such a low rating for Alfred's given that they just opened. I really wanted to be proven wrong. But in fact, I wasn't. I ordered a large matcha latte with some honey (thinking that the matcha will be stronger) but after looking over my receipt, I noticed that it says "single shot". I was so confused because why would I pay more for ice and milk? So I asked the girl who was at the cashier if that's true and she said yes. I asked her "shouldn't there be more matcha for a larger size?" and she said "well, that's not how they do it here" in the most dismissive. What's the point of paying more for a larger cup if the amount of matcha is the same? Drink I was drinking sweetened iced milk. Absolutely no taste of matcha. The color was so light and faded after I blended it all together. So disappointed. Service I don't think there's much to say here. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, I didn't receive good service and in fact, it left a sour taste in my mouth. Price Prices are like most other places and seem reasonable. Alfred's has great selection of pasties and made to order food, their coffee is very good...place is specious and every location has a special and different design. Service is crap! Not only the barista more then once the same person, moves slower then a turtle, more then once as I was the only one ( not often) at the counter, every person was doing "something" and would not acknowledge me. I order my fav scones in advance on the app ( if it works) so all I want is an americano... the way it works here, all the orders are getting ready as they come in, you have 4-5-6 people in front , but only 1 making espresso drinks, so if you are unlucky 16th order, they will pour hot water in the cup and leave it there to wait for the barista to get to it... so if you have time and patience to wait for it, your americano is nowhere near temperature it should be for you to enjoy it. The barista I am referring to, that I have watched move super slow is known to every store emp. and the manager ( I am sure) , but there are no changes. I wish I was closer to the location on Coldwater Cyn., a great store w amazing employees. If anything, company should send most of Encino people to Coldwater to observe how to run a wonderful coffee shop! read more

That one employee luckily I never saw again after that interaction BAH BYE . The coffee and matcha as always has been delicious that is honestly what kept me going. But I do utilize the online order pickup feature a lot since the parking isn't the most ideal at times so I don't interact MUCH with employees at times but I still get greeted and if needed to order it's a much better experience than what it once was they really turned around I'm happy about that because I am a fan of the ambience and the coffee in general. read more

Came in yesterday craving a good iced coffee. I was in a good mood and just wanted to treat myself, even though I don't go to coffee shops much. I walked in and got a blank stare, no greeting, nothing. I sat a bit outside but close enough to hear my name. When I thought they called it, I went back inside and the same lady looked me dead in the eye and still didn't say anything. No confirmation, no help. I had to figure out my own order like it was some kind of guessing game. The vibe here? Peak emotional detachment. Felt like I was inconveniencing their aesthetic just by breathing near the counter. The coffee itself? Mid. Tasted like it was brewed by someone who gave up halfway through and decided life was too short to care about flavor.
