Black Heart Coffee Co. has officially earned a spot on my list of favorite vegan breakfast burritos in LA. I came after a three-day fast, so my expectations were HIGH, and this place absolutely delivered. Ty was kind enough to make the Peony Burrito vegan, and it was packed with soy chorizo, vegan egg, vegan cheese, avocado, pico, and crispy potatoes. The burrito was already delicious, but once I added the red and green salsa, everything came together perfectly. Don't skip the salsa! I also ordered the Black Heart Latte, and it was the perfect drink to go with breakfast. The café has a great atmosphere, the staff was welcoming, and it's one of those hidden gems you almost don't want to tell people about... but it's too good not to share. Highly recommend!

I've had Black Heart Coffee bookmarked for the longest and I've driven by it even longer. Today I finally took the plunge and gave them a shot. It's located off of Balboa Blvd & Sherman Way. Parking lot has like 4 tight spots, so if you don't go early enough (or lucky enough) you'll have to find street parking. Since it was my first time, I tried the White Chocolate Lavender Latte with The Bouquet Burrito. Both came out in a reasonable amount of time, but to be fair I got there early. As I was getting ready to leave a long line started to form. Normally crowds can become a deal-breaker when it comes to coffee places, but Black Heart is surprisingly huge so there's plenty of room for everyone. Lounge seating in the back, tables on the sides, a big communal table in the middle, and outdoor seating in a shaded patio - if you're going to stay and chill, you're going to find a spot! The coffee is good, the burrito is packed with tastiness, the employees are all nice - Black Heart Coffee will soothe the darkest of hearts looking to attain life to face the day ahead. I can't wait to go back to try more of their menu!

First time at this cute little breakfast spot. Ordered the butterscotch latte, + a hearty loaded bouquet burrito. Both paired together was pretty darn good. However, -1 star for receiving a breakfast bowl 20 mins after I got my burrito. Clean, neat, but service could be bit better.

A friend took me here the other day for some grub and yap. I absolutely love the interior. I only wish it was more gothy inside. But there are some nice velvet chairs and things. Plus the branding is cool. Anyway, onto the food and drinks. I ordered an iced matcha and the Marigold sandwich. The matcha was perfect honestly because they gave the option of sweetened or unsweetened. Also, the sandwich was delicious. I was so excited to see something with turkey bacon by default and not regular bacon since I can't have pork. The spread they use on there is really yummy. The menu has a lot of interesting flavors on it. There are some Korean-inspired dishes that I definitely want to try like the Kimchi breakfast tacos. Can't wait to go back! Note: 1. Plenty of seating inside and outside under a tent of sorts. 2. Plus they have a speaker outside so you can hear when your order is called. 3. There's a small parking lot but also a residential area next to it where there's street parking.

Great food, great coffee, friendly staff, it's what I love most about restaurants & shops! Will be coming back here again, the food doesn't take long to be ready, neither does the coffee, & the vibes inside are calm & perfect.

Good salad. Good ambiance but small parking. I had their berry flavored iced tea which was just ok. They have sandwiches and stuff that I didn't get to try. I didn't love the place, so not sure if I'll be back.

We haven't had the chance to try their food yet, but everything looks and smells so delicious! The service is always friendly and quick, and the ambiance is warm, cozy, and welcoming. My husband and I have been here many times after our weekly walk at Lake Balboa Park, and treating ourselves to one of their hot or iced coffees has become our favorite weekend tradition. It's the perfect way to end the weekend and unwind. If you're in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

I was looking to read over a script for a project I booked today, and so decided I'd try this place because I had bookmarked it recently. It turned out to be a good spot to sit and get some work done. The ambiance is comfortable--music was a little on the loud side, but nothing a pair of noise-minimizing headphones can't handle. There's also an outdoor, tent-covered patio if you prefer to dine al fresco and in a more quiet atmosphere.. I did want something to eat for breakfast, and they had several options that sounded really appetizing. I actually had a bit of a hard time deciding, so I appreciated the friendly barista taking the time to help me land on a choice. After naming off a few possibilities, the barista suggested the Bouquet Burrito, mentioning it's one of their favorites and quite hefty. So I went with the Bouquet Burrito and it's definitely a hefty one--very filling and packed with eggs. If you're hungry, this will do the job. That said, I was hoping for a bit more balance and flavor. There was a lot of egg, but not quite enough protein from the bacon to even it out. The overall taste was pretty average and didn't really stand out. It came with two sauces, which helped, but honestly the burrito should be flavorful on its own without needing condiments--and even the sauces themselves were a bit underwhelming. Based on a few Yelp reviews, it looks like they serve single-origin coffee beans, which is a big plus in my book. I didn't try the coffee this time, but I'll definitely be back to check it out. Food rating: 3 stars. Overall, not a bad option if you want something filling, but I'd love to see more flavor and a better protein balance.

First time trying Black Heart Coffee! Love the name. For a drink I got the butterscotch latte. It was sweet but not too crazy, such a fun treat. Extra shot of espresso had me full of energy for quite awhile. For food I got the Abelia salad (it's like a southwest salad) but made it a wrap with the wheat tortilla. It was bigger than I thought! The wrap and tater tots were enough for two meals for me. The sauce (ranch & bbq) was the perfect amount. I'm a sauce girlie so always worried there won't be enough but it was awesome ;) I had some issues placing the mobile order (had to do it 4 times) but it eventually worked. Great spot!

What a great find. This spot is well hidden in a small strip mall but is quite spacious inside. Theres a few outdoor tables on a patio and lots of seating options inside. Locals vibe but also a lot of ppl planted with laptops. Coffee is stellar. And the bouquet burrito was amazing. I don't know what else you could ask for. Staff was kind and accommodating. Extensive menu with a lot of Korean leaning options. Delicious, can't wait to come back!

I wish I liked Black Heart Coffee more because I can tell they have a lot of fans, but I got their chocolate croissant and avocado toast and really wasn't a fan. I didn't expect there to be a mochi-like texture inside of the chocolate croissant, so it was a lot heavier than I expected. I do think the flavor was good, but it was just a surprising texture thing for me. Their avocado toast was nice in the sense that they added a lot of avocado and pickled onions, but for some reason, the avocado did not taste like fresh avocado. The color also reminded of the avocado that comes out of packets because they have to add chemicals to keep the taste and color of the avocado the same. I got their most popular latte, and I did really enjoy that. It had sesame in it and was really creamy, and it definitely hit!

Found the perfect coffee/breakfast spot in the valley that opens at 6am. It's rare you find a place that's open early, has great coffee, great food, and a cool interior. Stumbled on this one when working in the area and saw they can customize their options to also make things vegan. They have vegan morning pastries such as a chocolate loaf cake and lemon poppy one as well. They have seasonal drinks, a lot of nice seating inside, and some parking in front. They can get busy as you get closer to 7am, but they also offer ordering ahead from their website. The hot sauces they give with the breakfast burrito are so fresh and delicious, perfect pairing. Prices: $5-$15 Parking: front shared lot or down the street Dietary: vegan and.vegetarian options available Seating: a lot of indoor seating Service and atmosphere: great meeting place with nice and friendly staff

We stopped by for breakfast after seeing photos on the beautiful interior of the cafe and the food. Everything looked and sounded so appetizing. I went with the chilaquiles and they were very tasty! It had a lot of chicken and egg which I appreciated! My friends who ordered the berry french toast and breakfast burrito also enjoyed their food a lot! We all got coffee and we didn't have a single complaint. The butterscotch latte is a MUST try, I wish I ordered that instead of the white chocolate latte haha. My drink was still so good, the espresso is so smooth. But the butterscotch latte my friend got was sweet and I loooove my sugar! We went around 10am and the inside was super busy, filled with people working on their laptops. So we sat outside which was very nice. Our food also took a while (25 minutes) from ordering but that's expected when the meals are being made to order. Thank you for having me!
