Parking is a real struggle, very limited lot, so be prepared to circle around or park in the nearby residential area and walk. Drinks: I ordered the White Chocolate Lavender latte, sweet and floral, but my husband found it too sugary. He got the Black Heart latte, which he said was strong and bold, though I could barely taste anything in it (probably because my drink was so sweet, it killed my palate!). So maybe order based on your sweetness tolerance. Food: We shared a butter croissant, which was just okay, my husband called it "plain," and I'd agree. Nothing special. Seating: The inside was packed, but we managed to grab a spot at a long communal table. They do have a few outdoor seats too if you prefer fresh air. Black heart coffee is a very popular spot on the side of the valley. i've been here twice and each time there's always a line. their portions for their food are big. pricing is fair, especially because everything is pretty much shareable. I recommend looking at the menu beforehand because it can get a little bit hard to see the menu when you're standing in line. i've gotten the Chilaquiles twice now and they did not disappoint. i've also got the black heart latte and I'll probably continue to get it because I do like the black sesame flavor. their breakfast burritos are really big and pretty tasty so if you like breakfast burritos, I will give a shot. recently, I got there açai bowl and is very refreshing and not too sweet. they have indoor seating and outdoor seating, which is great because you can always bring your dog. Black Heart Coffee Co. has officially earned a spot on my list of favorite vegan breakfast burritos in LA. I came after a three-day fast, so my expectations were HIGH, and this place absolutely delivered. Ty was kind enough to make the Peony Burrito vegan, and it was packed with soy chorizo, vegan egg, vegan cheese, avocado, pico, and crispy potatoes. The burrito was already delicious, but once I added the red and green salsa, everything came together perfectly. Don't skip the salsa! I've had Black Heart Coffee bookmarked for the longest and I've driven by it even longer. Today I finally took the plunge and gave them a shot. It's located off of Balboa Blvd & Sherman Way. Parking lot has like 4 tight spots, so if you don't go early enough (or lucky enough) you'll have to find street parking. Since it was my first time, I tried the White Chocolate Lavender Latte with The Bouquet Burrito. Both came out in a reasonable amount of time, but to be fair I got there early. As I was getting ready to leave a long line started to form. Normally crowds can become a deal-breaker when it comes to coffee places, but Black Heart is surprisingly huge so there's plenty of room for everyone. Lounge seating in the back, tables on the sides, a big communal table in the middle, and outdoor seating in a shaded patio - if you're going to stay and chill, you're going to find a spot! A friend took me here the other day for some grub and yap. I absolutely love the interior. I only wish it was more gothy inside. But there are some nice velvet chairs and things. Plus the branding is cool. Anyway, onto the food and drinks. I ordered an iced matcha and the Marigold sandwich. The matcha was perfect honestly because they gave the option of sweetened or unsweetened. Also, the sandwich was delicious. I was so excited to see something with turkey bacon by default and not regular bacon since I can't have pork. The spread they use on there is really yummy. After naming off a few possibilities, the barista suggested the Bouquet Burrito, mentioning it's one of their favorites and quite hefty. So I went with the Bouquet Burrito and it's definitely a hefty one--very filling and packed with eggs. If you're hungry, this will do the job. That said, I was hoping for a bit more balance and flavor. There was a lot of egg, but not quite enough protein from the bacon to even it out. The overall taste was pretty average and didn't really stand out. It came with two sauces, which helped, but honestly the burrito should be flavorful on its own without needing condiments--and even the sauces themselves were a bit underwhelming. Based on a few Yelp reviews, it looks like they serve single-origin coffee beans, which is a big plus in my book. I didn't try the coffee this time, but I'll definitely be back to check it out. Extra shot of espresso had me full of energy for quite awhile. For food I got the Abelia salad (it's like a southwest salad) but made it a wrap with the wheat tortilla. It was bigger than I thought! The wrap and tater tots were enough for two meals for me. The sauce (ranch & bbq) was the perfect amount. This is my neighborhood specialty coffee spot with amazing lunch and breakfast. I have a hard time deciding what to eat when I get here: The chilaquiles. The kids breakfast. The arugula egg and bacon breakfast sandwich. The turkey Sammich on a pretzel bun, basically everything here is delicious. I'm not a huge fan of the mocha is my only gripe here but the butterscotch latte is fine for the sweet tooth. If you have dairy concerns, they got all plenty of alternative options. The espresso is proper, the workers are kind, the interior is clean and not cluttered. The prices are fair and the pastries are delicious. This is a great cafe to go have a casual lunch or breakfast at and it will hit all the marks to satisfy one's soul. I wish I liked Black Heart Coffee more because I can tell they have a lot of fans, but I got their chocolate croissant and avocado toast and really wasn't a fan. I didn't expect there to be a mochi-like texture inside of the chocolate croissant, so it was a lot heavier than I expected. I do think the flavor was good, but it was just a surprising texture thing for me. Their avocado toast was nice in the sense that they added a lot of avocado and pickled onions, but for some reason, the avocado did not taste like fresh avocado. The color also reminded of the avocado that comes out of packets because they have to add chemicals to keep the taste and color of the avocado the same. The first time I ordered this it was perfect, but this time around there was a lot of dressing in the salad so the pita got a bit soggy so it was a mess but a yummy one. It's shaded and always clean. The inside has a nice aesthetic with table and sofa seating. I always see lots of people on laptops working but it's also super family friendly. I come here specifically for the food and pastries! I love their breakfast burritos and their muffins are amazing. Their banana muffin and zucchini muffin are my favorites. The chocolate loaf is also mind blowing! They have vegan and gluten free options available for those with food restrictions. The coffee/tea latte drinks I have found can sometimes be inconsistent. I used to love their dirty chai, but some days it's got great spice and other days it tastes too milky. So in my experience, the drinks can be hit or miss but the vanilla latte is always a safe bet! This girl is always looking for good coffee! So, here I was on a very busy Sunday morning waiting on a very long line. No, not my thing but I waited patiently to see if their coffee was "that good." I finally got to the counter to order my very specific latte and a blueberry muffin. The person who helped me was very friendly and answered all of my questions. About 20 minutes later after going back inside a few times, my latte was ready. It was luke warm with too much foam. So, there I went again to have them remake it.
