My car didn't start and the key wasn't working. I had to call my roadside service and they send the towing company to pick up the car. The guy name Jim came less than 30 minutes. He is very nice and kind. We greeted each others and before he started towing my car I told him a short story about how my car was and what had I done with it. He then sensed it and told me he would try to jumpstart. Very fortunate, the car start to work again but not because of the jumpstart but Jim found out about the battery cable was not tightened enough to make the car start. I'm so thankful he found out about it and I didn't have to bring it to the service center. You need this company! read more

Jimmy is fantastic! My 2016 Honda Civic has issues turning on it's emergency break automatically, all my sensors were flashing and my car stalled. After I called in for dispatch, Jimmy called letting me know he was 5 minutes away. He was able to get my car started (magic fingers) but he didn't make me feel embarrassed, saw my concerns (I showed him a video of my car's glitches) and supported me to take a further look at my car. My car broke down in March and the shop I use recommended Unique towing. They were great both in terms of getting a flatbed out to my location in short order and charging what I felt was an low price to transport my car to the shop. I was very happy. However, the second time I used them was an awful experience. I called on Friday, 7/14 to have my car transported from San Jose to a car show Burlingame on Sunday morning, 7am. The woman I spoke with said they don't make appointments. Instead, I needed to call back Sunday morning. I explained the situation in that this was for a car show and I'm not comfortable with waiting until the last minute due to the fact Unique Towing may not be able to do the job at that point. She put me on hold again and talked to the owner (or her manager, I don't remember). Finally when she returned, she said I should call Saturday night and see if I can set it up. Given that it was so early Sunday morning, she thought that would be my best bet. So that's what I did ... I called at 11pm Saturday eve. The guy who answered said they don't do appointments. So I explained the situation. Then he put me on hold for five minutes. After returning, he said I'd have to call back in the morning. GRRR. So I explained the situation again and how that makes for a dicey situation. He put me on hold for another five minutes, then when he finally came back he said a delivery to Burlingame was OUTSIDE THEIR SERVICE AREA. I just about lost it, but remained sane and communicative, stating this did not come up on the first call. Once again, the guy puts me on hold for another 5 minutes while he calls the driver to discuss. Then he comes back and says "OK, we can do it, but it will cost you $450". I wasn't rude nor did I give him a piece of my mind, but I was beyond words. Instead, I said thank you and good bye. I guess I can understand how Unique Towing won't accept appointments, especially given how flaky people can be. Of course, they can always request a non-refundable deposit or whatever. Still, that's OK. But to lead me on by telling me to call Saturday night ... only to then say they don't service that area ... and to follow that up with an OUTRAGEOUS price, I have to say I feel like these folks don't run a very good ship and even seem borderline dishonest. read more

I drove through a huge construction pothole on my way to work which damaged my tire to the point where it was unsafe for me to continue driving on it. My husband told me we had roadside assistance through our Geico Insurance. They made it super easy and Unique Towing was called and was there much before their estimated time of arrival, which I would have appreciated if I wasn't already at work and not waiting on the side of the road. My car wouldn't start so I had to tow my car to an Auto Shop. My insurance connected me with Unique Towing. The tow truck driver was Jimmy. He arrived earlier than the estimated time. He went out of his way to try to jump start my car, which he didn't need to. We eventually had to tow it to the shop because of the starter is bad. It was really nice of him to allow me to ride along so I wouldn't need to get my own Uber. A side note, my car broke down at Safeway supermarket and I observed that Jimmy found someone's wallet. He returned it to the store's Lost and Found hoping that the owner would eventually find it. Overall, Jimmy provided terrific professional service. He is trustworthy, friendly and very accommodating. If I'm stranded with my car, I would definitely look for towing service from Jimmy. I truly wish honest working people like him would get more business. read more

Got stranded with out my Audi electronic key in the middle of the night and on the other side of town - with my AAA membership expired and no 24 hour locksmith that could program a new key I was stranded - I found unique town online and the service was great - he helped me find a solution as to where to take the car until tomorrow -- great service and he was real careful wth my all wheel drive S4 - And man they got here fast after the call! Spoke on the phone about towing a food truck off my private property. The receptionist was so quick to assume that she couldn't help me and would not explore options. I tried to suggest options for ways that I could use their services and she then asked me my location and I told her where I was located. She said "oh I dont even think we go that far." The only reason they get 2 stars is the drivers who released our car was nice, other than that they are horrible. The girl who answered the phone was rude, wouldn't answer simple questions, and replies with an attitude like she doesn't like working. The prices are disgustingly high, for a car towed and stored for less than a day it was nearly 500, these guys are basically thieves, they hole you car hostage and can charge whatever the hell they want cause they already have your car. read more

After a crazy unexpected night of Auto mechanical failure. The staff of Unique towing made the experience a lot less stressful. Al our driver was so patient, hardworking and peasant under the hard situtation he was faced with. Not only did he get our damaged truck home, he also gave us info we needed to ensure the truck was able to be transported for repair services. Contacted GIECO for roadside assistance and they submitted towing assistance to this company. We were parked on level 3 of a multi level parking garage and were mostly sure that our car battery had died. We needed a jump start assistance. So we waited for 45 mins. The tow truck came, and could not enter the parking lot maybe because of clearance. We went down to look for the truck. We could not contact the driver directly, but were in contact with their office agent. Agent told us to stop at a landmark, when we reached there the truck just didn't stop and left us stranded. We contacted GIECO again and the request was submitted to this same company again. I especially called their office this time to mention the mix up with the tow truck. Waited another 45 mins to only to realize the owner of the towing company had cancelled GIECOs request in a minute of its receipt. When I called them, they said GIECO cancelled the request! I don't know which one is true but to think that they would have to courtesy to inform us when we were contacting them multiple times was probably too much! I understand that partly it's GIECOs part too to coordinate. But all we needed was jump start assistance. We had to go to some store and get the jumper cables ourselves and get ourselves out after 3 hours of wait. Horrible service from both towing company and insurance company. read more

My car, for lack of a better word, is old. Over 374,000 miles on it, but it keeps on going, even if it breaks down pretty often. I'm not the type to give up! I have used Unique Towing twice since the beginning of the year, and I have been extremely happy and impressed! The first time I got a tow it was so traumatic, but the employee who came to my rescue was amazing and made me feel a lot better as they took my baby away. The second time I got a tow was even better! Jim, my second rescuer, was so kind and thoughtful, showed up within the hour, and maneuvered that great big tow truck in my apartment complex's parking lot as gracefully as if he was driving a sporty little mini. He got my car up on the flatbed in no time, making sure not to bust my tires or scratch anything. He gave me a fantastic rate, too, and I had to have my car towed two cities away! Although I don't want to say I'd use their services again (because that'd mean my car broke down again!), I will not hesitate to call them and recommend them to anyone looking for a superior tow company with great rates. I said I'm gonna leave these guys a great review after the fantastic service they've done for me so long ago, and all this time I didn't give them the great review that they deserved, but finally I'm here to write my very first yelp review lol. I definitely had some hard to deal issue last year when I traveled overseas and left my car at my apt parking without giving anyone the car keys. Then conveniently the damn apartment decides they are gonna rebuild their parking lot during this short time while I'm absent.
