Booked a trip to Newark airport and went to get a boarding pass but the system wouldn't do it claiming no complimentary seats available but if I wanted to pay as much as $90 I could get a seat and a boarding pass...I called the airline and they gave me a free seat so that I could get a boarding pass....during this process I received an email asking if I would take a later flight ....my guess is it was designed to create anxiety so I would go back and buy a seat...all during my efforts received about 23 requests to download the ap then join the mileage plus again at least 15 times...sleezy operation at he very least and downright ripe for government regulation given their practices... read more

Every flight seems to be delayed, but what makes it worse is the nasty chicken breast and quinoa meal in economy. AVOID IT. it's cold chicken breast with no flavor and served on bland quinoa. I think people who think milk is spicy may love it. I flew SFO-IAH and there is no meal served on this flight so I got the cinnamon roll. First trip with an unaccompanied and this was a hassle. They were too worried about missing bags at the gate rather than taking care of us.

Booked flight JAX-IAD-FCO. The 2nd leg, IAD - FCO was delayed several times until finally at around 1:30 am they cxld the flight. They booked me on partner airline, Lufthansa, for late after flight first to Munich then finally to Rome (FCO). Meanwhile, they never got our bags to Lufthansa and we went 10+ days in Italy without our bags (including a carry on we were forced to check). We had to buy clothes and all other essentials. That was July and to this day, 01 October, all parties involved (booking. com, the 3rd party travel insurance I paid for, United and Lufthansa) have refused to compensate me for the delay in getting to my destination, the lost hotel night, the delay in getting my bags and the expense of the items I needed to buy. I had booked a round trip flight for myself and my family ( 6 people total) on United Airline from Jacksonville Florida to Las Vegas from 6-12-25 and returning on 6-21-25. Going to Las Vegas, United lost 3 pieces of luggage and took over 24 hours to bring our luggage to us. A couple days before our return trip, I received 6 emails from United informing me and my family to get ready for our return trip scheduled for 6-21-25. On June 20, I logged in to obtain our boarding passes and only 1 name came up for our scheduled flight. I contacted Customer Service, who could not explain how this happened. He offered to book us on an American Airline flight at a cost of $3,600, that I had to pay for. He stated that United would reimburse me some or all of the $3600, but could not be specific. I had no real choice and accepted. I was told to be patient regarding my refund-It could take up to 4 to 6 weeks to receive my refund. This is now 6 weeks and I have received nothing. I have spoken with the same Customer Service Rep a few times. He has been very polite and reassuring, but I still do not have any reimbursement of the $3,600. It's not pleasant to be fussed at by a flight attendant over something that isn't your fault upon boarding a flight. Who would place a fire extinguisher in a passenger's overhead cabin and expect for them to NOT stow their carry-on on top of it? Such a genius!!! Based on body language alone, the flight attendant either chose the wrong day to fly or is in desperate need of a vacation. She appeared as of she was operating on a short fuse. I wasn't the only one she snapped at before take off. And let's not talk about the moment I was stuck in the lavatory during my return to Florida. That was the scariest moment ever! Hoping and praying that crap doesn't fly everywhere if an emergency landing was necessary. LOL! Thank Goodness for the only attendant on the entire flight. She got me out of the lavatory as quick as possible and went back to performing her normal duties. My experience with United Airlines was a good one. Flight was on time and the airplane was clean and the service was good. I was traveling to Minnesota for work trip and had to catch a connecting flight in Chicago. I barely had enough time to get off the plane use the ladies room and make it to the next gate within five minutes of the airplane door closing. I have never traveled through Chicago O'Hare Airport and boy is it huge! There was some construction going on which made getting through the airport challenging but that has nothing to do with United. The important thing was I arrived safely to my destination with no hiccups. read more

This is my second time flying United & my second time being impressed. My flight into Denver was one of the last to arrive ahead of the snowstorm that canceled thousands of flights. The pilot got us in about 10 minutes before the snow started. A bumpy flight made moving around the plane impossible- understandable with the weather. All staff was friendly & helpful. Waited in line, had junior staff member stumble and waste 10-15 additional minutes, adjacent staff was apathetic, the worst customer service I have ever experienced with an airlines, supervisor repeated "sir you missed your flight when I was asking "how do I get there now." Staff was more interested in negative rhetoric than solutions. Also check my online receipt hat focus on ADD ONS instead of common things like ONLINE CHECK IN that could have avoided this situation. You have to download the glitchy delta app to have the option for online checkin that is less advertised than upgrades. I will never fly UNITED again if there is a competing airline flight. Vote with your wallet - poorly managed businesses should go under. Book with United if you want a horrible start to your vacation. Update on the second flight after the layover ( they had to book two flights to get to my original destination ) there was a gate change in Houston plus last minute seat changes which delayed the flight about 20 min. I had front row seats of the complications of this move including boarding tickets that were not up to date IN THE PLANE and not corrected PRIOR TO BOARDING, which meant that it was not uncommon for two persons to have the same seat number. This is in reference to the HORRIBLE, EMBARRASSING, and CONDESCENDING service I received at Jax United counter this morning. I ran into the airport at 7:57 am, 2 mins late of baggage cut off of which I was aware. As I scrambled to checkin at the kiosk the agent stood there, didn't acknowledge me, and said nothing until 2 mins past and I asked her to call a supervisor or lead to see if they'd ok my bag getting on the flight. In lieu of her doing what I asked, she chose to tell me there's nothing she can do and my bag was over weight so it couldn't go. Assuming vs asking is pivotal in customer service. My status with United grants 3 bags at 70 pounds per flight, therefore had she asked my name and attempted to assist me, she would have known. She proceeded to waste additional time telling me she cant do anything and no one could speak with me. As my frustration began to build I asked again for her to call a supervisor for me to speak with, she again refused and one of her colleagues came over. He was rude and simply displayed no customer service skills. I felt ganged up on when he came over and began to speak condescending to me, as he stated he wanted to "educate" me (PER HIS WORDS) on the requirement of dropping bags 45 min prior to departure. As a premier 1k I'm fully aware of the requirements to check bags, however the blatant ignoring my request to speak to a lead or supervisor was incorrect. If united allows agents to speak to customers in such a way of ignoring request that are doable or making executive decisions on their own, what's the point in having a supervisor? Simply put, my request should have been met. I'm very understanding of rules and regulations, however there are times when exceptions can take place. My United flight was delayed such that I was going to miss connecting flights (first from Chicago, then in San Francisco). I was en route to Oregon for my grandfather's funeral. Upon realizing that I needed to be rebooked, I immediately called United reservations. While my rep (Sam) was kind and helpful, I spent 40 minutes on hold with him. He ultimately refunded my United fare and rebooked me on a flight with American into Portland, Oregon. I was charged $897 for this new flight. As it turned out, the American flight out of Jacksonville (scheduled to depart at 7:15) was itself delayed and had been all day, such that it would not get me into Oregon tonight either. American could not help me get to Oregon in time for the funeral either, and sent me back to United. Sam had apparently not seen the long-posted delay on rebooking me on this flight and when I called him back in years, wrongly assured me that it would still get me to Oregon in time, which an American rep confirmed was simply not true. By the time a gate agent was able to assist me at United,it was nearly 7:15 p.m. No United flight could get me out of Jacksonville in time for the funeral, so the gate agent urged me to book a flight for the following morning (my only chance of making it for any portion of the funeral or burial) through Southwest and call United reservations to refund me for my out-of-pocket expenses in getting out of Jacksonville on Southwest. She assured me, as the rep on the phone had, that I would be refunded for this ticket. When I called United the second time, I was informed that I could not be refunded for my out-of-pocket expenses without submitting an online form. I did so. Meanwhile, my luggage was lost when United pulled it off of my original flight and I spent an hour in the luggage office after several hours of trying to sort out my travel. All told, I was in the Jacksonville airport for 7 hours attempting to sort everything out. I missed the funeral of my last remaining grandparent due to the disruption in my United flight itinerary. It cost me $607.68 in unexpected expenses to get myself out of Jacksonville and to Oregon. I was accommodated with a hotel room and a $10 voucher. Upon contacting United customer service online and explaining my situation, they refused to pay for either the Southwest ticket I needed to buy or the expenses incurred when my bag was lost. Customer service reps from both American and Southwest were more compassionate and accommodating in my dealings with them. Over multiple phone calls and emails, United refused to help me (and cost additional hours of my time). Rather than refund my costs as their reps had promised, United customer service frustratingly cited "airline policy" in refusing that was theirs to relax. With respect to my luggage claim, they refused to take responsibility and cited industry policies with which no one from American or Southwest were familiar. All told, United took a painful and frustrating experience and made it far worse by refusing to take responsibility or make things right. I not only lost the chance to make my grandfather's funeral but over $700 in last-minute airfare and expenses. read more

So I understand I chose the cheapest airfare on United which means NO options. No carry on luggage, two people traveling together cannot pick their seats, no snack, nothing! Basically, my granddaughter and I should be where they keep the luggage. You would think they saw that one of the travelers was a 2-1/2 year old when I booked our tickets together...at the same time, but no, which means when it was time for me to check in the night before, they had me sitting in 4C and my 2-1/2 year old granddaughter sitting in 4A. I looked up the plane's seating map online and noticed she was in a row with ONLY one seat, her seat. So I did what any concerned grandparent/guardian/customer would do, I called immediately because that was not happening! The United employee informed me that they would not allow her to sit alone and it would have been changed during check in at the airport but since I called, she would put a note in the system because she was unable to make changes on the phone. Fast forward to the airport. Checked my bags in, got my boarding passes and went straight to the gate not looking at the boarding passes until I started typing this review. Realized we still had the same seats! ‍ I waved down the Gate Agent and she changed it. Can you image the mess this would've caused finding this out after we boarded??? If I would've added a few more dollars to my airfare I probably wouldn't have to deal with the headache of not being able to bring a carryon and picking seats. Shame on you, United Airlines. I was traveling with the family, which included a lap child and a 2-year old. Although we booked the seats all in the same row, United Airlines took it upon themselves to separate my entire family into three different middle seat sections. So, there we were trying to frantically get set up in at least in the same location. If it weren't for some very good samaritans that felt bad for us and we're able to swap seats to at least get us in the same section of the plane then we would have been completely screwed. From this day forth, I will make it a promise to myself to only fly private jet. This way, I can fly whenever and wherever I want, sit next to whoever I want, not get groped by security and never miss another connector flight again. This is a review of a first-class flight from Denver to Orlando. The plane was just old. No USB or 110 in the seats. The spacing on the seats was ok, but not as roomy as normally expected on a first class flight. My main complaint was the food service. I had a burger which was fine, but it was served with cardboard tasting bag of french fries. The wine served deserves special mention. I was served a horrible red wine, that burned my throat. One sip was plenty. I am not expecting a $40 bottle of wine for the $$$ extra this flight cost over coach, but at least something that you could swallow. This pretty amazing since you can buy a decent tasting bottle of wine for around $10 to $15. The stewardesses were putting our seat backs up a good 40 minutes before landing, which was totally unnecessary. read more

I had a flight out of Jacksonville to Chicago cancelled, no apologies, no arrangements for an alternate flight. Best they could do was a stand by six hours later. Still charged me a baggage fee even though I wasn't sure when I was leaving. To top it off United's engineers have designed the planes to maximize the number of people they can jam into a flight. Seats are cramped and uncomfortable. A flight with United is a hellish experience unless you pony up for some extra space, usually around 25 to 40 bucks a pop. The united airlines ticketing agent I encountered in the premier line at the Jacksonville airport yesterday was the worst representative of the airline I have ever encountered. There were delays causing travelers to miss connections. She lead with telling me If my flight was cancelled due to weather, any costs I incurred were my responsibility and I would not be re-booked in first class. That was the beginning of a long night. I wish United Airline would have gone bankrupt in 2008. I would have NEVER used them if it had not been for a connecting flight. I planned a trip three months in advance for an overseas trip. I was carrying one piece of oversized luggage, and I wanted to get a solid price. Each time I called I received the same answer, $250. I even gave the weight and dimensions each time I called. At the actual gate, they charged me another $250 with no solid explanation. The person over the phone that was speaking to the attendant originally said $800 until I told her that's not true. It was a polite way of calling the person a liar, incompetent or both. This extortion happened Sept 5, 2017, so I do not remember any names to drop. The attendant behind the counter was very polite and pleasant to speak with, but unfortunately, she also falls in the category of being incompetent. Paying an extra extorted $250 (because of reasons) trumps any reliable customer service. What was also new is that I had to transfer my own luggage to my international flight. That was a first for me. It was an unexpected inconvenience. The good thing is that I was able to get molested by the TSA twice in one trip because I had to go back through security. I do not know if that is normal for a person having to carry their own luggage to their connecting flight in the same airport. United did not fail to disappoint. IF I ever have to use them for any reason I will record ALL conversations from now on. read more
