Middle of the road~ long lines for checking in your bag- moving slowly. The staff at the counters were in short supply of smiles that day. Once I made it to the counter it was a painless process of showing my id and weighing my bag- I was moving on within minutes. Once at the gate our boarding was delayed for reasons unknown. I didn't sit in my seat until our scheduled take off time- even though everything kept saying "on time"~ that being said- the pilot got us on the ground just 10 minutes past our scheduled time- not bad! I did like our flight attendant Cory- he was friendly and patient~ all of the attendants seemed very nice and didn't fluster at the customers who were slow to follow directions. My patience was up with the guy in my aisle while Cory did an excellent job keeping his nice smile on~ put the phone down and pay attention! lol This airline can be extremely cheap to fly- but can also nickle and dime you for everything- carry on bags, checked bags (weight limit is 40lbs- not the standard 50!!!), printing tickets at the airport, seat selection, snacks in flight~ you name it- you'll pay for it! BUT~ if you hit it right, you can fly for half the price of other airlines! Read the guidelines- install the app on your phone for easier ticketing and be patient! I flew this on recommendation of a family member and I normally don't fly this airline. The flight from our home airport was fine, the only thing I could gripe about for that flight was that all in flight refreshments required you to pay, even for water. When we arrived early for our return flight we waited at an empty baggage check counter for 30 minutes for staff to arrive, then when we were called up we were told we had to wait another hour because we were not allowed to check our bag until it was on their appropriate time not ours. We arrived to the airport early as directed, only to wait in line 45 minutes and be told upfront that it was too soon to check in for our flight and we needed to get back in line!!! No signage regarding this policy!!!! (We were there two hours and 20 minutes prior to our departure!!) They made us go BACK and get in the long line again because of the extra 20 minutes too soon!!!!! Unacceptable!!! My flight was delayed over three hours due to an issue with their plane. Customer service was extremely rude and unhelpful, and they denied a refund of any kind. I had to take off work the next day due to delays. Per new DOT law, they are required to give a full refund within 7 days for a delay over three hours. One star is too much. They are the least handicap friendly airline you'll ever encounter. If you are willing to wait hours on the phone to get someone, all they say is they don't know & have to email someone. I did email someone & after 5 emails and copying the CEO and other execs, they try to tell me they don't have to accommodate my disability. The ADA told me differently, but I already knew that because American, Delta, United, Southwest and even Spirit have been more than willing to assist me. Their posted prices are cheap, but then they add taxes, airline fees, seat selection fees, carrier usage charge and, of course baggage & carry on fees and you end up paying more money for flying on a junky plane. I'll never attempt to use them again and encourage anyone with options to run away. read more

Customer service is bad. 1st to charge for everything and then have bad customer service oriented people working for the airline is awful. I was at Dulles airport and the ticketing booth "manager" showed no willingness to listen, no empathy, no APOLOGY! Their app would not allow me to buy baggage at check-in and the "manager" proceeded to tell me it was my fault. Their 800 number is a minimum of 3 hour hold time AND live chat is only available on weekdays. What a joke of an airline. I'd rather pay more for better service. read more

I'm so annoyed I added this new location to Yelp! As a Jacksonville resident, needless to say, I was quite ecstatic about Allegiant Air coming to JIA, continuing my patronage (I've flown Allegiant out of Sanford, FL with no issues), and Allegiant providing more flight options and new routes. As soon as the opportunity presented itself, I booked my first flight out of JIA. However, after this week's unfortunate experience, I have to know... Is this the new normal? Was my excitement premature and unwarranted? I was scheduled to leave JAX to MEM, May 27th on Allegiant Air nonstop flight #657 at 5:56PM. At 10:15AM I was alerted that the flight was delayed and would be leaving at 6:46PM. With that, I took no issue. Delays happen, I get it. When in route to the airport at 4:50, I received the alert that the flight had been delayed again. This time until 9:36PM, now that alert dealt more of a blow! Thank God, I was in route and hadn't already parked and checked in. Anyhow, I killed time and worked out the 3 hour delay, and moved on with life. With no new alerts, and everything seemingly good, I made it to the airport around 8:05PM and prepared for departure. Upon arrival at the gate, I knew there was an issue. Although many celebratory balloons welcoming Allegiant to the air-borhood were present, it was also packed with customers, unhappy customers. The prior Cincinnati flight hadn't yet boarded and it was considerably past departure time. However, not my flight, not my issue-- Or so I thought. While waiting, I became more concerned and deduced that both flights (Cincinnati and mine) were using the same gate, so if Cincinnati had issues, so did I! No one told me this, these were just thoughts. As I was over an hour early for my flight, I decided to think positively. Things could work themselves out, right? Well, they didn't. Was I doomed from the start or what? At 9:36PM, departure time, I was still sitting at the gate with no sign of a boarding call, an empty customer service desk, and no explanation whatsoever. At this point, Allegiant has failed me thrice in an eight hour period. Again, I fly often and I understand that things happen, but come on. I wish it had stopped there, but it didn't. We finally boarded around 9:46PM and, adding insult to injury, the plane was piping hot. We sat with no air for roughly 45 minutes. And now for the fatal blow. At 10:03PM, while sweating on the hot plane, I received my final text alert of the day that said we were now delayed at until 10:10PM. Which was still inaccurate as we did not depart until more like 10:35PM and I didn't land until 11:15PM (central time). What originally started as a 6:41PM nonstop arrival turned into a 11:15PM landing. I could have flown ANY other airline's itinerary and landed in Memphis at least 4 hours prior to my Allegiant landing. I can confirm this as my social media friends tried to help by sending alternative flight solutions to end my misery when I posted the second delay of the day. Prices were good when I bought r/t airfare from Jax., Fl to Pitts., Pa to attend my mother's 93 birthday. You can only bring a personal size piece for free so the normal carry on cost $20 or $30, I forget. I did notice several customers had 2 personal size pieces with them, nothing said. Had to ask for the baggies with mask, handy wipes and plastic gloves when we entered plane. I wore a mask the whole time in airport but took it for future needs. I thought each row would have two people only but a lady signaled see was to sit between us. She saw I was surprised so she said "I'll ask a flight attendant if another seat is available" and there was. I was wondering because we did not pay extra for a "picked seat" they wanted to place 3 to a row? It was a good flight, on time...not everyone wore mask but that appears to be how it goes today. I think mandatory for Allegiant starting in July. We will be flying back in July so I guess we'll see. read more

At Jacksonville airport trying to go to Cincy, this airline will straight up try to cover their ass with excuses after excuses when things are going poorly.Boarded my flight no problem yesterday, it was extremely warm in the cabin which I figured would cool down once we were on the air, after 20+ min they announce their is an issue with the ground equipment that helps to cool the plane and we have to de-plane. After 2 more delays, I go up to the counter and asked is this plane going to go knowing they couldn't give me a stray answer but I figured I could get a hood feeling so I could book on another plane, the 2 counter guys said yes it was going to go and they wouldn't book on a different flight. Ok so you guessed it flight was cancelled. Back at airport to leave at 10am, delayed again issue plane needs to cool down WTF! Finally boarded, waiting another 20 min, flight attendants make the announcement we are all ready up here (clearly stalling) 15 min later Capt makes announcement that there is an issue with communication and the ground crew and that has to be fixed before we go meanwhile she is saying how they are Grus and have families in Cincy also and whoa is them, stop with the excuses it just is aggravating to listen too. If the plane is broken which it seems just say so let us go and find another way to get to our destination. Still sitting here don't know if we are leaving or not. Never again Allegiant!!! read more

There is a reason this is a cheap @ss flight. This was my first time taking Allegiant, and if you read other reviews about this airline, they all suck. AIRBUS 320 was a very small plane, the seats have no padding, it was like sitting on a bench. Forget leg room unless you want to pay extra. The passenger beside me was patiently waiting for a glass of water. When the cart rolled over to us, he was told that water cost $2.00. This is the first time I've ever heard on a plane that they charge you for water! I asked the flight attendant, "you charge for water?" He said, "yes unless you want a cup of ice, that's for free." DAMN! An attitude! Yes they're unprofessional and you can see that by their dress code. Poor man next to me said if he knew they charge for water, he would of bought a bottle at the terminal. The trays were tiny, the magazine holder was a tiny netted nothing-you-could-fit in there, but their magazines. This flight is only good if you are flying an hour or less, otherwise you'll be uncomfortable and decide to write a bad review. As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for.' read more

I wanted to write a positive review as I've read so many negatives. I have flown Allegiant several times on round trips to BLV from JAX. Love the fact Allegiant flies non-stop and the Mid America Airport is small and easy to deal with. I've found the staff friendly and professional on every flight, so I don't understand what others are saying about rudeness. My only complaint which is not the airline's fault is weather delays. I just flew with Allegiant and had a 15 minute delay departing JAX where you could literally see the lighting flashing out the airport windows so I felt a 15 min delay was very reasonable. On the return flight there was an hour delay apparently weather issues at the previous airport...again understandable. I would rather be delayed and arrive alive. The only other complaint I would have is that Allegiant only flies this route spring and summer months. I think many just like to complain and for the price it is an enjoyable experience- if you want a more luxurious experience then fly private. read more

Our first time flying allegiant; We knew it was low budget and we knew about all of the restrictions in regards to extra charges and we were willing to put up with that. What we were not willing to put up with was having our flight canceled three days prior to the hurricane hitting Jacksonville. Clear skies no wind and they canceled our flight. Luckily, we had not turned in our rent a car and we were able to drive back home to St. Louis prior to the hurricane hitting Jacksonville. Allegiant sent a letter to my friend saying that in conjunction with the state officials, no planes were allowed to enter Florida. Really?? They did refund our money but offered no explanations, no alternative ways to leave Jacksonville,. Just basically left us stranded. If you fly allegiant, be prepared to fend for yourself during an emergency!! Not Happy !! read more

Not the best airline and not the worst airline I have flown with. I bought my ticket a week in advanced, and the price was the same as any of the other big guys. But they had the advantage of being a direct flight from RIC to JAX, which made it worth it. The flight down was smooth, but the flight back was not so much. Being that they are a small carrier, they do not have planes hanging around so if there is a problem with a plane expect to have really long delays. My plane back had issues with the breaks/tires, AAA hasn't come out with a service for planes and Allegiant looked at how long the repair would take. They decided the best course was to send out another plane. Unlike other carriers, I have say they did well. They provided all the passengers with complementary meal vouchers so we can grab something to eat while we waited 6 hours for the next plane and when I checked my email I was surprised to find that there was a $50 voucher off my next flight. Comparing to the bigger airlines, they were really good about customer service and making sure that the customer is happy. Why didn't Allegiant get 4 or even 5 stars then? They charge for almost everything. I felt that paying $312 for such a short flight would warrant that I wouldn't be charged $10 to use my credit card to purchase the flight or $5 to have them print my ticket at the airport. Or better yet, if I wanted to pick a seat on the flight the price ranged from $17-$24 per flight. Or having to pay for water on the flight. Being that a flight with American would have been the same price, I couldn't see why Allegiant charges for every little thing. I joked with another passenger that if the airline could find a way to charge for breathing they would. Overall, it is a 3 star experience. I think for people who can reserve their flights 3 weeks or more in advance really benefit from cheaper flights. read more

We had the absolute worst experience on our last Allegiant trip! Arrived at the airport 11/2 hour prior to departure. There was many flights leaving around the same time, needless to say we finally got to the desk only to be told baggage was closed( 4 suitcases and 2 sets of golf clubs is what we had) . The counter boy says you can try to get on if you want there's nothing I can do. Through this whole process nobody would help! Allegiant you have lost 4 customers who have traveled with you for 20 years. We will be looking in to others carriers at this point!!! This was my first time booking Allegiant and my last. We booked a flight from JAX to Cincinnati for travel last week/weekend. Booking process: get ready for added charges but still the cheapest flight from JAX to CVG. Checked bags at booking are $20 each that price goes up if you pay prior to departure or at the gate (considerably). Carry on bags (no personal items like a purse) are $15 at booking and again that price will go up if you don't reserve at booking. The process to book was simple you can choose your seat for a price of course which we did (exit row for more leg room) or gamble and not reserve a seat (free) and get what you get upon check in at gate. Check in: I received multiple emails reminding me to be at the airport 2 hours prior to departure and that the ticket counter closes 45 minutes prior to departure. We found out when we got there that this is due to the ticket agents being the same people who work the gate so they need that time to get to the gate. Departure: Our flight was scheduled for a 8:30 departure so we arrived at the airport at 6:30 and got through security with no issue. After security I received a text saying the flight was delayed and would now depart at 9:20 pm. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and a drink and relaxed. We ended up not boarding until after 9:20 so our new departure ended up being closer to 9:45 or so. Flight: This is where it all got very interesting. Before we even took off my husband said...are we going to vegas. The reason is that the crew was so and I mean really...unprofessional. I'm assuming they have no dress code with the lead crew member openly flirting with the pilot in her mini skirt, knee high boots and stockings. Another crew member hanging out in the cockpit in the pilot's seat before and after arrival. They spent plenty of time hanging out and chatting...and were in no hurry to get us off the ground. I settled into my non reclining thinly padded seat (non of the seats recline...this plane is the most basic of basic). Want a drink...water, coke, snack, mixed drink...get your wallet out b/c there are no freebies here. Want to know about a rewards program...Have no fear they advertise their credit card while you are on the flight. Hand out brochures for you to sign up. Um thanks but no thanks. I laid my head down and took a nap just praying the flight would be over soon in the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. By the time we arrived it was after 11 pm (original arrival time was 10:18) and we finally arrived at our hotel after midnight. I won't go into detail for our second flight (flight home) but it was equally as painful and unprofessional. This was my first and last Allegiant flight. DO NOT FLY ALLEGIANT!!! I am having a blast on vacation & I'm usually not this person, but I have to tell y'all about the ridiculousness that is Allegiant Airline! I flew out of Indianapolis and landed in Jacksonville on Thursday and my bag wasn't at baggage claim. When I when to the ticket counter/check-in to ask for help, the first girl I talked to literally looked at me and said, "are you sure you even checked a bag?" Why would I be looking for a bag if I didn't actually check a bag?!? Then she handed me a piece of paper & a pen and asked me to write down my information to have it shipped to me without even leaving the counter to look, calling someone to check or calling a supervisor to help. So I asked "can we do something about this before I leave the airport?" and she finally got a supervisor who was AMAZING and gracious. She assured me that she would file a report, I would get an email later that day confirming that they had the report and were looking for my luggage and that I would get a call with an update and tracking number once shipped, which I was satisfied with. Well, none of that happened! It wasn't until the next day (Friday) around lunch time that I received a call...my bag had been found (it missed my flight), it would be sent overnight to the address where I was staying, they were emailing me a tracking number and I would be getting it tomorrow (Saturday) late morning to early afternoon. Well...that didn't happen either. So I called today (Saturday) to get the tracking number and see what the deal was and the angel on the phone (she was amazing and appalled for me) tells me that there had been no notations to the account that my bag had been found or shipped but that she would investigate, send an expedited email to baggage and have them email AND call me with an update/final tracking number on where it was being shipped (FL or home at this point) and when it would arrive. Well, you guessed it, NO CALL OR EMAIL FROM BAGGAGE...again! Sooooo.... I called allegiant air back 5.5 hours later to see what the hell was going on with my luggage, & FINALLY got a tracking number from a guy who literally didn't have a clue...found out that my package was never in the history of ever scheduled to arrive today (Saturday). It was scheduled to arrive Monday because "ma'am, when they say 'overnight' on a Friday, that doesn't really mean overnight because it's the weekend and things are closed. So, that means the following Monday." Well, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD ARRIVE ON SATURDAY BECAUSE WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH IS THE POINT OF GIVING YOU MY FLORIDA VACATION ADDRESS TO MAIL MY BAG TO ME IF IT CAN'T ARRIVE UNTIL MONDAY AND I FLY OUT/LEAVE FOR HOME ON SUNDAY?!?! So now, my bag has been re-routed to my home address and I'm going to beat it home! Soooo, I've gone my entire 4 day vacation without my luggage and had to replace ALL THE THINGS to function for the weekend! Y'all, I know it's cheap and that is why I booked with them, but this is my first and last time flying with them. If you still choose to fly with them (because cheap is hard to beat) just pack everything in your carry on and never anticipate receiving helpful or definitive information from customer service! read more

Allegiant is the best airline. Their prices are great and the people who work there go above and beyond. A relative of mine was to take an Allegiant flight. While on the plane and still at the gate, he got an anxiety attack. The plane had been delayed for a couple of hours due to very bad weather. The stewardess was very kind and helpful as he had to get off the flight. His bags went on to the destination with his bags. I called the destination airport and spoke to an Allegiant rep about what happened. She had already been told of the mishap and reassured me that she would get his bags and secure them and personally ensure they were on the next flight home to us. She even came in on her day off to do so. She did all she should have done to provide great customer service and more. I have been flying for over 50 years and have never seen such excellent care given. Thank you Allegiant and your great staff of people. read more
