I am writing to say thank you and commend the exceptional kindness and service to United Airlines employee, Kirolos Abdelmaseih, who assisted my wife and me on several occasions during lengthy flight delays on Sunday, June 21st, 2026, while we were waiting to fly to Munich, Germany. He went above and beyond any reasonable assistance by moving us with his cart from one gate to another, from the United Lounge to a change of gate, and coming after we had to change planes without us ever contacting him to provide assistance to my wife who is disabled. I traveled United on the evening of July 3rd. I waited on the line at the gate to request an assigned seat from an agent. I was rudely Greeted by Glen W. He asked in Spanish "Que yo quiero" "What do you want" Instead of politely asking how can I help you ? He needs to better attend to customers and practice better costumer service! I flew United airlines from Newark NJ to Sint Maarten. The boarding process was quick and easy. I had a different experience before boarding the plane- my face was scanned to be checked in and my seat # popped up on the screen. When I arrived to my seat I received a welcome pop-up on the screen in front of my seat with my name. That was a nice touch. I received complimentary pretzels and tea on the flight. read more

We have had issues in the past at Newark. Everything from rude employees to delays. Not this time. Everything from security check all the way through our flight home went smoothly. Especially great was Francisco at gate check. He was upbeat and friendly. He made us feel welcomed and valued as customers. read more

United Airlines Newark has the worst customer service in the business. Everything you ask, you are directed to a QR code. They wanted to confiscate salt through TSA. No one wants to help and seems like they delay for no reason because weather is not involved. Just awful flying through this airport and employees are miserable and only there to tell you to go online to fix anything. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. Everyone with the united badge was rude and/or extremely unhelpful. Our flight to MSN was cancelled (understandably so with the severe storms, nothing you can do about that). The problem starts with the gate agent at C97 for the 6:47 flight. She didn't even have the decency to announce the cancellation. All she did was tell 30-40 something people to walk back to the waiting area ( as we had boarded through group 4 already). As we were all trying to figure out next steps, she disappeared...never to be seen again. Briefly before she made like Houdini, we were told to scan a QR code to talk to a gate agent. Now about the oh so helpful app, which tells you to talk to a gate agent (ironic). The "gate agent" is ChatGPT .... when there are real people in your face boldly ignoring and acting like you aren't trying to go home to your family. When I tried to speak to an actual agent at another desk (with a COMPUTER) all they told me was that I had to use the app. So either improve the app to handle mass cancellations and rebooking for 40-50 people. Or have someone on site who can at the very least point people in the right direction to make a decision on next steps. The only helpful person was Anna, and she was the flight attendant not even associated with United. Thank you Anna for looking for alternative flights, handling the onslaught of questions either way humility and kindness, and acknowledging a stressful situation for everyone involved. We did more problem solving together as paying customers than the people who were HIRED to engage with us (at the very least) What could have been an understandable cancellation due to weather and a simple rebooking, turned into an unnecessary and uncomfortable experience that will have me questioning if I book is truly worth it in the future. ZERO STARS FOR UNITED AT NEWARK!!! read more

Our flight was canceled and we were automatically rebooked onto a different itinerary. Our original flight was a direct flight, but the new one added a connection and significantly disrupted our plans. Because of the delay and schedule change, we also lost our hotel reservation. To make matters worse, we were downgraded from Economy Plus aisle seats to standard Economy middle seats. Despite the downgrade and the added inconvenience, no compensation or meaningful assistance was offered. We also tried contacting customer service to resolve the situation, but after waiting on hold for about 30 minutes, the call was disconnected. This made an already frustrating situation even worse. Overall, the experience was extremely frustrating. Losing the direct flight, getting much worse seats, losing our hotel reservation, and being unable to get help from customer service made this a very disappointing experience. read more

United Airlines staff attempted to seize my wife's $20,000 medical equipment at the terminal, equipment her life depends on without any legitimate explanation or policy cited. Every question we asked was met with gaslighting: "you're being loud," "you're being aggressive," "I'm just trying to help you." We weren't being loud. We were standing there, asking for a reason that never came, while my wife was brought to tears. When I tried to write down her name, a basic, reasonable request, she threatened to put me on a list. "Oh, you're going to document me? I'm documenting you." This was not a slip of the tongue. It was a deliberate threat, used to intimidate a passenger into silence for simply asking her name. No compassion. No supervisor. No answers. Just deflection, dismissal, and retaliation from an agent who seemed more interested in asserting control than helping anyone. It felt like being told to stop resisting while someone tries to break your arm.... The aggression entirely manufactured by the person causing the harm. My wife needed that equipment. She was in tears. And United's response was threats. This was one of the most dehumanizing experiences we have ever had while traveling. United Airlines has lost us permanently. read more

My experience is with first class only and it's always a great experience. Attendants are attentive. We usually fly a breakfast flight. Food was decent and you can order what you want prior to the flight. We always fly from EWR. read more

Flying United Airlines back to Los Angeles from Newark Airport which is in New Jersey. United Airlines had an issue with our airplane which delayed us by an hour. While we were boarding they needed to have some people come in to fix the bathroom stall. Overall anything can happen on a flight when getting on board and off. Patience is always great to have and actually, the staff members on the plane were super nice and fun. Things happen and sometimes you should allocate more time if you are doing a connecting flight. But thankfully I was just going back home! read more

Sunday night was the worst experience I've had with United Airlines in the nearly 50 years of flying the carrier. We were returning home in San Diego from Newark NJ via LAX. The aircraft for UA2035 was at the EWR gate for 2 1/2 hours before our scheduled departure, but we were over an hour late taking off. Why? Because there were not enough flight attendants for our flight ... and we had to wait to board until United could get staff from another flight. No way were we going to make our connection to San Diego, which was the last LAX-SAN flight that day. Fortunately, I use the United app and was able to rebook enroute for the next morning. But we had to find our own accommodations for the night and arrange our own transportation from/to LAX. And NO compensation from United for the expenses we incurred because United at EWR couldn't properly staff a waiting aircraft for an on-time departure. read more

I am writing to file a formal and urgent complaint regarding the conduct of one of your supervisors, Cynthia Sheard, as well as several employees working under her. The behavior I experienced was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. After already having to rebook our flight due to TSA delays, my travel party and I encountered additional issues at check-in. The staff were rude, aggressive, and dismissive from the start. When we attempted to sort out our luggage--which was only one bag over the limit--the employees made derogatory remarks. As we were trying to condense our bags, one employee even told me to "shut up." When I responded by stating that this is not how customers should be spoken to, they escalated the situation further and ultimately refused to allow us to board our flight. Supervisor Cynthia Sheard's handling of the situation was equally unprofessional, and at no point did she attempt to de-escalate or address the inappropriate behavior of her staff. Instead, the disrespect and hostility were allowed to continue. This experience was not only humiliating but also completely out of line with the level of service any customer should expect. I am requesting that this incident be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate action be taken to address the conduct of the supervisor and employees involved. read more

I recent flew United roundtrip from SFO (San Francisco, CA) to EWR (Newark, NJ). I typically don't take United for longer domestic flights, but a friend was trying to use up an expiring flight credit and I had points, so we decided to fly together. The first leg was a redeye. We departed SFO at 11:45pm PST Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 and were scheduled to land 8:02am EST on Wednesday, January 10th. We landed a touch early at around 7:40am. We splurged a bit on Premier Plus seats. The seats have a leg rest was is nice. And obviously they are roomier. They served us a meal which I wasn't expecting, so I got the chicken and I think my friend got ravioli? We like sharing so it was whatever the other meal was. Drinks were included, so I got some liquor and wine. I didn't really sleep much, but the flight was fine. Other than the meal and leg rest, if you sit on the two seats closest to the window, this was comparable to the first on some domestic airlines. Our return flight departed EWR on Saturday, January 13th at 6pm EST and was scheduled to land at 9:23pm PST. I believe we landed a little early again. We originally booked Premium Plus seats (luckily this flight was much cheaper than the one there), but decided to upgraded with points to Business since they have lay flats, so I was able to sleep. It's basically United Polaris, but they don't call it that for domestic routes, so you can only use the regular United Club. I pre-ordered the chicken and my friend the burger, but he ended up with the ravioli since United never got the burger from their catering company. The food is definitely better in business as it was more flavorful and the chicken less dry. Drink offerings were the same. Tho they give you an amenity kit and a glass of champagne before takeoff. I've never been a huge fan of United, but the Business lay flats on the way back changed my mind. Not as good as Polaris for international, but worth the price to me for flights 5+ hours. If I find a deal on Premium Plus and can upgrade with points, I'd book this again in a heartbeat. 5 STARS for service 3 STARS for value = 4 STARS overall read more

Dear United Airlines Customer Relations, I am writing to formally report an incident that occurred at a United Club lounge involving two staff members on duty. I am an active-duty member of the United States military and was traveling on official orders. I clearly stated this to the staff member and presented my military ID. Despite this, I was told that I was "not active duty," which is false. I also explained that my travel was booked through DTS/SATO due to official orders. The staff member insisted that I had booked the travel myself and stated that I did not book through any company. This was also incorrect. During this interaction, the staff member proceeded to accuse me of lying. Being told that I was lying about my military status and official travel--after presenting valid identification--was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable. I expect United Club staff to treat all customers with respect, especially active-duty service members traveling on orders. I am requesting that this incident be reviewed and addressed appropriately. Please let me know if further information is required. read more

What can I say? Is United great...nope. Is United awful...nope. Does United take care of its frequent flyers as well as its competitors...absolutely not. The planes are dated. The flight attendants tend to be completely indifferent to your existence at best. The flight costs are decent, but not great. United is the epitome of "middle of the road". You won't hate it, but you won't like it either. read more

I've flown internationally for years--5-6 Europe trips annually, plus countless domestic flights--and I've never been treated so poorly as I was by a United agent at Newark on July 12, 2025 by Erica whose badge was covered/ had a sticker that said happy (!) so I had a ask her name to another employee, ha! Despite having a confirmed Delta status match (traveling with my two young kids), I was yelled at bag drop. One suitcase was two pounds over; I calmly tried to resolve it with an extra bag I brought, but the agent who was extremely rude and condescending dismissed my status, yelled at me in front of others, refused to help, and talked about me to the next customer while I was there. All I said was "it is just two pounds" which was a reaction and not an objection since I already had an empty bag to carry over the weight, she walked away yelling and accusing me of the things I didn't say. Hope the manager has this recorded to see the level of rudeness in their "friendly skies". My child cried afterward in the bathroom from the stress of watching it unfold. The flight itself was good--kind crew, smooth connection, tasty kids' meals--but the Newark experience was dehumanizing and left me shaken. I've never been treated like that by any airline (or a brand employee) anywhere. United needs to seriously re-train ground staff on basic professionalism and respect. But, I'll stick to Delta meanwhile -- at least their employees know basic communications read more

I wish there was an option to leave a less than one star. Not sure if anyone from United Airline is reading these comments but I like to share my experience from this weekend from the Newark airport. When we arrive at the security checkpoint, the United Airlines associate stopped us right away telling us there's no carry ons allowed. I told her most airlines allow carry ons and she rudely applied "Not this one and you need to check the fine print on your ticket". She seemed like she didn't want to talk to me at all and told me to "go to the service desk and maybe they can help me." I went down the service desk and dealt with another rude associate and wanted to charge $40 for each carry on. At this time, I got tired of dealing with rude United Airline workers and I didn't want to make a scene in front of my son so I ended up paying $80 to check in our carry ons. There were three people behind who were upset for paying for carry ons as well. When we arrived at the gate they were checking in the carry ons for free. Had I known this earlier, I could've booked cheaper airline departing from JFK. We also paid $40+ just to get to the Newark airport from Brooklyn as well. I won't be doing any business with United Airlines in the future. read more

If I could give United a negative -100 I would. Got to the airport via Uber at 5 for an 8pm flight. Been in the East coast visiting family, hunting, fishing, graduation and golf for the past 2 months. Prior to my arriving, my flight was cancelled and i had to stay/ sleep over at the airport for 6 hours. so I was hoping it would be smoother this time around. So I am waiting at my gate and get a delay notification, then another and it is now past flight time at 8:15pm...Then I get notified it is CANCELLED!!! I ask about my bag and they said go to luggage claim. They say I cannot get it as it may cause problems. I wanted my bag because I would have extended my stay...So I Uber back to my dad's house and call United. I wanted an Uber credit versus a hotel voucher for the huge inconvenience United has caused going to NY: NJ and now going back to CA. They say that I have to email them!!!! The advisor on the phone also tells me that I would probably get nothing!!!! So I chill overnight and go to the airport at 2pm the next day...While boarding they say there is another delay. Thankfully after the first delay we finally get on board and leave. Once I arrive I do not see my checked in bag from the day before. They finally find it...Another inconvenience and worry since I had some valuables. This is the 3rd time in 4 flights that my flight has been delayed or cancelled!!! I am annoyed and disappointed since I have flown with United for 3 decades. I have quite a bit of miles but will be taking my next Travel needs to American Airlines or Delta to give them a try. Not sure what happened to. United but they need to up their game and improve their customer experience. In addition, their gate attendants and phone advisors are useless. Talk about NO customer service skills or process knowledge. You are literally left to fend for yourself. I would not recommend United at this time. Just say NO!!! read more

I travelled with my wife on 5/21 from Newark to Cancun. I am a US Citizen and my wife is a permanent resident. She is in the process of transitioning from her temporary 2 year green card to her permanent one. Her temporary card expired on 2022 but she received an official letter from the USCIS (Form I-751) extending it for 48 months. We've travelled with this letter to many countries including Italy and Denmark without any issues but when checking in for UA1987 we were directed to a customer service area where an United agent told us we would not be able to board because my wife's letter wasn't accepted in Mexico. We tried to explain that it was an official letter from the Immigration department and that we have travelled to many counties with it but she insisted that Mexico would not accept it and UA would be penalized. We had spent over 2000 USD in our trip (in addition to the plane tickets) including hotels, transportation and other reservations that could not be cancelled. and almost lost everything. We panicked! Luckily another employee back in the kiosk area checked us in. We had no issues in Mexico or any other issues coming back to the US whatsoever. Due to an incompetent and unpleasant employee we almost lost and long awaited vacation. read more

My husband has premier status with United. This allows him to go through security in a matter is seconds, visit the United Club, and sometimes get upgraded to business or First class. The flight attendant found out I was celebrating a birthday and offered me a comp breakfast. Nice touch! Thank you UA! read more

Our flight from Japan to New Jersey was great up until we were about to land in New Jersey. This caused our 3 hour layover to our connecting flight to become a 30 minute layover. It was absolutely ridiculous...how are we supposed to go through immigration, grab our checked luggage, and recheck it in. All to take a train and then bus back to the front of the airport. To go through airport security all over again. Mind you we had to run to our gate since it was the last gate of course. This was just a crazy experience to go through. There should be more organization for individuals who are trying to get to a connecting flight. Maybe another line that specifically says connecting flight, in order for the process to be sped up. All of that to get to our gate and find out that boarding was delayed.... Mine was initially delayed for 20 minutes and in the end, an hour. It could be troublesome if it's an connecting flight and you might miss the next one. If they have super cheap tickets again, I'd probably choose them, except for overnight flights.

Only 4 bathrooms for such a huge plane is definitely not good... they said they would clean them throughout the flight, but every time I used it, it was a mess... disappointing for sure. Line already started and the Delta employees show up 415 am.... Unless it has changed I thought show time was 3 hours for international and 2 hour for domestic flights. We showed up early since the gov shutdown and issues with the air traffic controllers... so does that mean the check-in section can be even more lazy and who's up when they want? Please let me know if I am wrong about the show times for international and domestic flights.

It honestly came across as dismissive and discriminatory instead of helpful. To make matters worse, the flight attendants were not pleasant either and carried attitude throughout the flight. I'm currently connecting in Dallas and hoping the next flight experience is completely different because so far this has been unacceptable customer service. Do better, American Airlines. We purchased the seats three rows back from the entrance door where the middle seat can't be purchased so we could have all three seats to ourselves months in advance and got a great deal. The seats were pretty comfy and there was a lot of legroom compared to economy. The service was great and the pilots did a great job too. No one told us we had to specifically ask the bus driver to stop at Terminal B. When we got to Terminal C, the bus driver explained that we were suppose to notify him to stop at Terminal B. News to us. Anyway, he drove us back to Terminal B. A bit of a communication hiccup on their side. The restroom at the Airport was a nice surprise though. I wish I could remember which Terminal it was, A or B, but it was completely Zen. Take a look at my photo of the inside of the stall. Unbelievable. As you enter the restroom, soothing music is playing, and with the decor, it helps you take the stress level down a notch or two. Kudos to the designers of this airport restroom.
