If I had an option for minus score below zero, they would win hands down. This is a horrible club. They have a full kitchen yet the eggs looked like those you get out of instant. It's big the club, but one location for food options which is quite tiny. I never knew you could get a bagel made for a child. I'm very confident this was sitting somewhere for a bit of time because without toasting it, you would bust some teeth. It was hard. That scream not even in this realm fresh. I'm wagering that other bread items, oh for those seeking danish or muffins, not a chance that's available. On the coffee side why does United ignore a growing segment of the population that either has a dairy allergy, lactose intolerant or vegan? Ever heard of almond, oat or soy milk? What about those little french vanilla cup things? Clearly who ever oversees this club must be the same dolt who oversees the one in Phoenix because they follow the similar path of cream, 50-50 or whole milk. You do get a sippy like plastic cup for the kiddos, oh I mean for adults to drink your soda out of the machine. Finally with all the germ rise and an increase in norovirus and ongoing yuckiness, how about sanitizer like so many biz lounges have everywhere even on the wall? Don't fret though. I visited the United Club lounge near gate D8 at Dulles Airport and the experience was pretty mediocre overall. This is definitely a lounge where you should expect only the basics and not much more. When I arrived, the food selection was very limited and unfortunately they had already run out of several items and did not restock during my visit. The only things available were slices of bread, oatmeal, grapes, bananas, apples, and pineapple, which felt pretty underwhelming for a lounge. The espresso machines were also out of milk and needed service, so specialty coffee wasn't really an option either. The dining area itself was small and felt cramped, especially during busy times. On the plus side, there was plenty of seating throughout the lounge, but the overall layout felt awkward and outdated. The furniture looks old and the whole space could really use a refresh. The bathrooms were another weak point -- they looked worn down, had only a few stalls, and definitely seemed like they were due for repairs or renovation. One positive note: the cleaning staff did a great job. Tables were cleared quickly and used plates were removed regularly, which helped keep the space from feeling messy even when it was crowded. Overall, this lounge works if you just need a place to sit, charge your phone, and grab a quick snack, but don't expect a premium lounge experience. Terribly neglected! This "lounge" is incredibly dated, there seems to not be any oversight ensuring that the AC works (it doesn't), that the furniture is kept in at least a decent state (it isn't), that staff is properly trained (it's not), and the lounges in third world countries are not any better (they are!). We were incredibly disappointed... we do understand that IAD is a dumpy airport, but United Clubs should at least make sure that they are being represented properly (with the money they charge us to do exactly that!). read more

As you can see from my prior reviews we have been here several times before. Our United flight from IAD to Chicago ORD was located at gate D7 across from the United Club located adjacent to gate D8. The club is located downstairs so you can either walk up and down the stairs or take the elevator. The choices of the food at this club are limited and never as good as some of their other larger clubs in other airport locations. The food choices and quality seem to be less than last year. The club was not crowded compared to last time. I enjoyed my spicy bloody mary and two proseccos. The bar staff were as good as last time. We were able to depart the club within minutes of our Group 1 boarding at Gate D7. More to come regarding our United roundtrip flights to ORD. This club needs improvement. read more

The United clubs in the Dulles airport need to be revamped so that they are made up to par at some of the other airports. The food selection is slightly improved over its past incarnations, but still lagging the other clubs. I didn't remember this United Club located in Concourse D, but I was last here in 2017 and probably didn't recognize it due to refurbishment of the soft goods. New armchairs, tables and more outlets. Unfortunately it's a bit like lipstick on a pig. It's down a level and most seating areas are dark and dreary. The wall decor is dated and gives no DC vibe; however, if you sit by the windows you get a wheel-level view of planes at the gates. That's kind of interesting. Food was the standard as other United Clubs. Soup of the day was Vegetarian Minestrone. Fresh spring salad mix, cheese cubes, sandwich cuts. Nothing unique to the DC area (what happened to United Club's go local promo highlighting regional specialties?). Staff are nice and quick to clean tables and bring out more food. This is the largest of the UCs in Washington's IAD airport. It is cavernous. It is packed, partly maybe because it's open late. It is very unkempt. The stressed and tired workers here are catering to a what to them maybe an unending stream of rushed travelers. I'm not sure what's been happening with this particular club. Today after the remodel we're back to the same state of food offerings from a decade ago, cookies, brownies sandwiches, salad....Desserts are a plenty. And guests hoard up on the food and pack them for a connection or home. Not a dessert person, I got me a salad and a soup. The salad was good, the tomato soup very good. Not complaining as my international ticket got me a free pass into this United club. But I can't possibly eat the same grocery store looking sandwiches/wraps I've been seeing for over 10 years at United Clubs. This United Club was a high school cafeteria compared to my last visit to an airline lounge Air Canada''s Maple Leaf Lounge (hours prior). United has got to learn that profit making is good but come on stop it already with feeding your clients garbage; this is getting old. AND Stop it already with the cornucopia of Saran apples and oranges. No one eats them. And people think they've been there for ages so no one eats them. This was my first visit in an airline club and it was quite pleasant. My boyfriend had passes that were to expire soon, so we took advantage since we had a two-hour layover. You do have to show a boarding pass to enter. We discovered it to be quite busy and had to enter a few different rooms to find empty seating. They have table & chairs, as well as comfortable airmchairs. There are complimentary food & snacks such as packaged sandwichs, salads, soup, chips, cookies, and fruit. The bar has complimentary beer & wine, but also other drinks for a fee. The bartender was not Ms. Friendly, but other staff were nice. It was a treat to visit this exclusive lounge. read more

The bar was not open when the club was open, and the bar tender did not apologize that she was late and would not be open for at least another half hour. Was here on a Monday afternoon & not busy with an ample amount of open seats although it picked up after 4. The Chicken Rice Thai soup was very good and also had the salad-(good variety of greens and veggies). Charcuterie was also available. The lounge is on the 1st floor with a bar area, food/snack area, business and lounge areas. Area with the windows/view was sold out! The restrooms are not enough for the amount of seats/space provided. Bar-for whiskey lovers-Cutty Sark is on the house-Single Malt (Macallan, Glenlivet) starts at $15. Such a complete waste of a pass. When I walked in, the last scanned my pass and said pretty rudely "do you even have club access??" I said it was a first class ticket and she told me that there wasn't access to the lounge domestically for first class. Fine, but she made me feel like I was a street urchin. I have a ton of club passes so I used one of those. She didn't tell me the club was closing within the hour. The food was laughable. Cheese sticks and cup of noodles with tepid water, some soggy salads. There's no ambiance in the lounge, and there weren't even utensils. The cleaning staff are hard working but the lounge is sad. When I called the number on the app for support and a credit so I could walk to the other lounge that's open, the lady just said no. She said there's nothing she can do. I said surely they can offer a new pass or a credit ... someone It's United club support. So what are they even supporting? And even if she was right, She just had a nasty way. I'm in client services, you have to offer a solution ( like hey talk to the front desk). I did end up going to the front desk to ask about transferring my pass to the other lounge, I hadn't done that originally because the woman who checked me in was so scary. The woman who was there the second time and seemed way more managerial, and transferred my pass easily. So now I'm off to the other lounge and hopefully it won't be so dismal. Have always enjoyed United Clubs where ever we are. Staff is always helpful and food is good. Definitely a blessing at times on large delays. I would suggest maybe having recliners in cases where long delays are in place and a nap could be used. Also, maybe a place to watch sports or a movie while you wait. read more

The bartenders weren't really bartenders as they did not know how to great professionally and service customers, well at least with me and my fiance. I did feel awkward when they first looked at me. Hmm... maybe I look young or wasn't relatable. Whatever it is made me feel unwelcomed as they never once looked at me even when I asked a question. Then she said, oh you don't want anything. Mind you, they had their back turned to me. I've done bartending for a bit before landing my career and have 6 years of hospitality experience. This was a huge no-no in my book. So I kindly said no thank you and went back to my seat. As far as the lounge, it was crowded and not controlled. They could do a better job. At the breakfast hour, it was a very busy place. After 10 AM, it died down a bit before the lunch rush. Staff members are on hand to provide assistance and kept the foods fresh. There was also fresh fruit (individually saran-wrapped) available to grab and go. I enjoyed fresh fruit, an egg and cheese cmuffin sandwich and tea. I was able to sit in the Business Center where it was pretty quiet. I enjoyed my one-day visit for $59 during a long layover before heading to Toronto. It is the worth the price if you have a long wait as I enjoyed breakfast and lunch before leaving. WiFi was free and very stable. You can book your visit on the United app then have them scan the bar code and boarding pass upon entry. read more

I'm a member of Mileage Plus, so I get 2 complementary visits to the United club each year. But because I haven't been traveling as much, I haven't been able to take advantage of them. On my flight home for the holidays, I stopped by the United Club because I had about 25 minutes before my next flight and just wanted to use the restroom and grab some water. The reception desk was not friendly and quite rude when I advised that I hadn't received my a new passes for 2020 and showed them my expired pass and advised that I always receive them each year and have for several years. You would think that they have access to this information right there?! I told her that I only wanted to use the restroom and grab some water and wouldn't be there long at all. I even showed her my boarding past to verify how much time a had, but she denied me outright for entry! And in a rude, condescending way! I tried to fill out the survey United sent me, but ironically it said it had expired! Being busy for the holiday, I would submit the complaint online later. I received my 2020 passes. On my return flight I stopped by again because my next flight was delayed. Gave my 2020 pass for entry. Again the ladies at the desk were quite rude and uninviting! And because of this, before even going into the club, they had a machine to select how you felt the service was. Right away I submitted "Poor"! The club was quite empty & quiet. Rather strange, especially during holiday travel! It was quite clean. No one at the bar- again strange! I spoke with a couple of the staff, one of which was very hard to understand who had a very thick accent! And normally I'm very good at understanding having worked with internationals. The food selection was a very basic continental breakfast. I asked the staff if they had a hot breakfast offering as they used to in the past. But she told me this was all they had. Rather disappointing, considering how much United probably takes in annually. Over all, not impressed with the United Club! Definitely not worth the money they charge! We usually fly out of Fort Lauderdale and the untied lounge in terminal 1 has always been a disappointment. Dulles being a United hub has multiple united lounges across the airport. This review is for the lounge next to Gate D8. I get two passes a year to use at United lounges via the Chase United Business Card. On our departures from Dulles airport I usually like to go to the Turkish lounge for which we have access via the priority pass. The United lounge is a good place to relax but it doesn't have the amenities at the Turkish lounge. To start off with the food is definitely no competition. They rarely have hot food and no shower facilities. The only advantage of the United lounge is that it is a bigger facility and you can find a quieter place to relax. It is about time the USA based airlines have to figure out how to upgrade their facilities otherwise they will always be the last choice for passengers. United is a good airline and flights are usually on time but the experience of travel is not up to par compared to the experience in Europe and Asia where the airports have been upgraded and travelled friendly. read more

I stopped here with my husband since he gets to have guests complimentary with his membership. Lucky me! The lounge itself is decent for United lounges. The best in the United States is probably Chicago or San Francisco. The lounge has a back room area that is easy to access once in the lounge. It seemed that not as many people go back there to chill. Just note that it can get chilly at times when the door is open by employees to go outside. There was a mimosa bartender which was a pleasant surprise during my visit. The mimosas were a nice Sunday late morning touch to ease my travel anxiety. They had just started to put out lunch food while we were there too. It was a little harder for me to eat since I'm gluten and dairy free. In my one visit, I had to wait to check in, then squeeze into an elevator to get the a lounge so crowded you had to hunt if you wanted adjacent seats. No visible attempts to be accommodating to those with medical food needs. They had no gluten free food outside of celery and carrots. They could have easily had gluten free cheese, if nothing else. Every time I've frequented this location its brimming with loads of people - the spacing with three clubs in the C terminal and only one in D is puzzling. With the numbers UA is restricting the one day pass holders which is understandable...unless your behind them in line trying to get in and there is an argument ensuing in front of you. The offerings are the same as most other clubs but as a carb restricted person very appreciative of the occasional eggs they have early in the AM during certain days of the week. United needs to consider their brand and that many of their clients are paying Monday for an elegant and calming experience. Yet, this lounge is overcrowded, crusty and offers nothing you can't get for free at a Comfort Inn or the like. Only their expresso machine has any value to me.
