BEWARE!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we called Mike McPherson to come and look at our newly purchased Honeywell generator from Costco he asked for pictures, address etc. stating that "maybe I can figure this out before I get there"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Little did we know he collected this information to turn us in to the County for a non permitted generator. All went wonderful with the County and we are now wanting the public to know how underhanded this man is. Shocking that a business owner would have such low standards. Sooo, no, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the installation of our generator and passed inspection with flying colors. It was surprising to us that it even needed a permit but I will say that both the county inspector AND Honeywell were appalled to find out a businessman would have ever done that (Honeywell said unfortunately they do not have control of their repair persons but could not believe someone would stoop so low). I told them it had just been replaced. They had me look at the notes inside the unit-which did not note the battery had been replaced, but should have if they did replace the battery. I now have had 2 pay for 2 batteries. The one they told me was bad (and took with them), but was not- and the new one just replaced AGAIN. Very dissatisfied. read more

THIS MAN IS SCARY! In December United sent a repair person to fix our generator. He took the ostensibly bad part and promised to return as soon as he could order a new part. EDIT: An hour after I posted this review Michael called me. I didn't answer. Screenshots of his VM message are attached. ‼ He threatened me if I didn't remove this review. ‼ I hadn't read the previous reviews before posting to warn myself of his history of harassment. My in-laws bought the property in 1971. My FIL, now widowed, has moved out of state. He has owned the property for 53 years!!! Since Michael didn't like the photo of my FIL check with an out-of-state address, I said I could use my check and I texted Michael a photo of my check. My husband and I live in Windsor. I NEVER said our situation was an emergency. No one is living in the house as it is For Sale. I simply wanted to secure an appointment for service. I was never told about who else needed service. By the way, shortly after Michael hung up on me, my husband drove up to the house with his tools. He removed the front panel, pushed a button, drove to Interstate Batteries to get a new battery and now the generator light is green and the house has power. All accomplished before dinner. NEXT DAY: Michael has had an unknown person post a bogus review on our business page. We don't even have a generator at our commercial building. The review has nothing to do with our business. ORIGINAL POST: I'm helping my elderly FIL who has a whole house generator that usually works perfectly, but this time when the power came on at the PG&E meter, it never came back on at the house. My FIL had United Generator LLC service the unit one year ago not long after my MIL passed away, so I called the number on the invoice and left a VM. I received a text after hours on a Friday, with a possible cause (PG&E power surge that burned the coils in the Automatic Transfer Switch) which was a similar explanation I received from someone else. I texted Michael every couple of days to inquire about getting on their busy schedule for the repair. The house has been without power for over a week now. Michael is condescending, forgetful and needs a lot of improvement with his big customer service skills. When I talked to Mike the first time on the phone, he corrected me and stated his name is Michael. He never mentioned that he works with his son, Mikey. He is forgetful because he asks the same questions over and over even though I have included most of the information in our text chain and we have talked several times about the location and situation. Mid-day today Michael responded to my text stating he might be able to come by around 2:00 this afternoon depending on how another job goes. While waiting for him to possibly arrive in an hour, he texted me the breakdown of the costs and asked for me to "bring a trust check with you?". I texted him a photo of the check. He stated he needed a check with my name on it because 'Lloyd is deceased." I re-explained that it was my MIL that passed away, not my FIL, plus I am on the account but not listed on the check. A while later Michael called me instead of texting to say that it looked like they would NOT be able to make it out today and could not give me a date/time of when they could schedule an appt. Unfortunately, the phone call ended with him hanging up on me. He wouldn't accept a verbal approval over the phone that I agreed to pay the minimum $500 that he explained would need to be collected at the time of service. He treated me like I lived down by the river when we have been business owners in Sonoma County since 1967. He wanted me to TEXT that I approved the fee; he said it was a "corporate policy". However, the invoice from 2023 states "We accept cc, wire transfers and ACH. Checks can be mailed to 1964 Respite Pl, Santa Rosa, CA 95403." I prefer ACH over writing a check and do most of my banking electronically but he didn't even offer that option. Maybe he just had a really off week? I have been changing the oil and cleaning my air filter on my generator for the past five years. Recently, after receiving an error message on my generator app aong with the error code, I contacted Mike Jr. who asked if I had ever had the valves adjusted per the manufacturer recommendation. As I only was doing the bare maintenance minimum, I scheduled a full service. The service rep came out in two business days and completed the service and had to replace the battery and corroded terminals. Mike Jr. and his company were prompt, reliable and stuck to their service quote, but had to add the battery and terminal costs that were found to be part of the starting issue. These guys are seriously the best. We recently bought a house which came with a previously installed whole house generator, something I have no experience with. We had United Generator come out for an annual service and they answered all my questions and provided great service overall. More recently, the power went out and the generator kicked on, but when the utility power was restored the generator shut off but the power in the house never came back on. I figured it had to be something with the transfer switch but don't know enough to diagnose it or attempt to fix it. Though my first call was to Mike at United Generator, I couldn't get a hold of them so I reached out to another company. When Mike got back to me, I described the situation over the phone and sent him a picture of the transfer switch. He was able to diagnose the problem from that one picture (one little wire had come loose), which enabled me to do the repair myself! I could then cancel the service appointment I had with the other company, saving me at least $250. Needless to say, as long as we own this generator we will be calling United Generator for any and all issues as well as regular service. read more

Wow, I wish I had read the Yelp reviews on United General before calling them to repair my brand new Generac generator that was installed by a local licensed electrical contractor. Generac sent me a list of their service contractors to choose from to repair the generator which did not turn over. UG came out and after 2 hours with 2 men (which only needs 1 tech to repair a generator) charged me $$$ for doing nothing. I had to call another company to come out and repair the generator which was done under warranty. The generator had a bad starter. I have asked UG for a refund and like the other bad reviews I have gotten nothing but harassing texts from UG at all times of the night. No referrals from this unhappy customer. read more

I wrote a long review of this guy Mike and his business practices the other day... After he read the review I got a whole list of threats from him by email, to take down my honest review of his incompleted work. I did tell him if he gave me my refund for work that was not completed, I would do so. This morning I got several harassing emails and more threats. I have turned this over to my attorney and will contact the Sheriff if I get anymore of these emails from him. Do not do business with this person, he is not working with a full deck ! P.S. He was paid $ 500 in cash on Dec 14th and the remainder $ 260. by check on Jan 10th. PAID IN FULL FYI. There is no "we" that came out to do the repair, it was only Mike and I have been pleasant to him the entire time until the first group of threats from him. So I had an issue with my RV generator. Being fairly new to RVs, I wasn't sure what to do when it stopped generating electricity. After calling several places, I finally called United Generator and the owner picked up. He said that his shop wasn't equipped to do RV related repairs, but what he did next surprised me.
